Yeah the polls had Reagan losing in 84 too (couldn’t have been in ’80 because Carter was such a disaster; everyone hated him by then.) Then he took all but what, two states?

Anyway, everyone I know who *actually* gets called for polls lies on purpose so the results are doubly wrong no matter what they do. Pelosi still thinks the Democrats picked up house seats in November. Poor thing keeps reaching for her gavel and wondering where it went.

I thought that was part of the irony? Polls, no matter how refined the selection procedures might be today compared to in the past, they’re still far less useful than some statisticsia…ticia…sticall… statistics people, and most of the medie people, would have them be?

Actually this is a statistics fail. The newspaper called people to ask who they would vote for, but only rich people had phone at the time. All the poor people voted for Truman.
