  1. zhixuan says:

So, I bet if the United States was hosting the Olympics, there’d be far less protests occuring.

The Dalai Lama himself has asked for this to stop.

  2. Paul says:

Beijing is like the Nazis? Really? I think not.

  3. 北京 很漂亮 says:

I believe it was Said who said that America through it’s vast and successful colonialism has been able to define the East and they have done so because it is a place we don’t understand. This is called Orientalism. This photo is a prime example of that ignorance and hypocrisy. What would the Native American’s think, oh that’s right, we massacred them and relegated them to the crappiest real estate. China’s having these problems because they at least allowed some sort of autonomy for their minority regions. If only they did it the American way and committed genocide, then we could all enjoy the Olympics in the peaceful glow of our television sets.

    • Pugiron says:

Tell that to all the people that died in the “Cultural Revolution” You fat, comfortable white liberal who has never had to see real suffering. Its very easy to be preachy about the evils of America inside America. Try preaching about the evils of China inside China.
Please, try it. I would love to see a video tape of your “interview” with the Chinese police.

    • Some Indian Guy says:

As a “Native American”, I don’t much appreciate some ChiCom apologist using our history to trash the United States. Thanks to the Useful Idiots in our news media and government, most people in this country are blind to the wholesale slaughter of human lives conducted by both the Chinese and the Soviet Commies.

  4. OmbudsBen says:

Question for you there, 北京 很漂亮.

Do the Chinese allow the Tibetans to form “reservations” close to their urban centers and build gambling casinos to make millions of dollars? Lotsa Tibetans getting rich with the recent prosperity?

But I do agree the picture is very far-fetched. For one thing, the swastika is an old Tibetan symbol, and so far it hasn’t seemed too likely the Chinese will permit many symbols from Tibet to be displayed.

    • TheWaisian says:

Well that Swastika was of Buddhism, and was used in some parts of China too…
So one could argue that you might see swastikas in Beijing?
It’s highly unlikely given the whole Swastika = Nazis thing now-a-days.
That and China *was* communist. So. You know, no official religion and what have you.

      • boink says:

the swastika was an old religious symbol first and an icon of the nazi army second. so you are right, that is not accurate thinking at all.

        • David says:

yes, when it is facing right, a sign of nazism, but left, a sign of peace, love and hope. symbolism literally reversed

      • Tyler says:

Yep. It was also a Catholic symbol for luck & hope, which I believe is the place Hitler got the idea for the swastika, because I can’t see him coming into contacts with many Tibetans/Chinese.

  5. JD says:

    Republican National Convention – 2008

  6. Pugiron says:

Thats not fair, the Nazi’s only killed about 10 million people, the Communist Chinese have killed over 100 Million, mostly their own people.

  7. Charlie says:

The nazi’s had almost killed my grandpa in the deathcamps…

    • Pugiron says:

Aaaaaand the fact you didn’t know the extra 90 million Chinese makes that so much better than the fact that youir family suffered directly? Did you know any Kurds Sadaam gassed? NO? Whew then thats ok too.

      • Alex says:

Aaaaaand the fact you didn’t actually read his post? Did Charlie actually say anything about the Chinese government being not being oppressive? NO? Whew thats ok too.

I mean, I utterly despise the Chinese government, too, but I can’t stand reactionaries like you who go YOURE EVIL YOURE RACIST AND YOU EAT BABIES ARGLEBLARGLEBLARG when anyone says something that doesn’t match their opinions.

  8. bibilibbi says:

I do feel very ignorant about the situation in China.

Admittedly, I feel ‘closer’ to WWII due to my mum’s village having been burnt down when she was a little girl as a revenge after Nazi-officers had been killed by Dutch resistance. Over 300 men were taken from the village and taken to the camps, very few returned.

My mum has seen things no little girl should ever see. She still has nightmares sometimes.

  9. namnatulco says:

The thing is, nazi’s are pretty much the opposite of communists.

    • Pugiron says:

No they are pretty much the same. Nazi was short for National Socialism. And CHina is about as Communist as Wall Street. Its just a new name for the same old Totalitarianism.

  10. Fat Boy says:

If China agreed to stop killing Tibetian monks and “Free Tibet” if the US agreed to release it’s colonies and neo-colonial holdings (like Hawaii, Kwajelin Atoll, etc.) is there a chance in hell the US would agree? If China agreed to free political prisoners if America stopped blowing up small, middle-eastern nations, would the US agree? I doubt it. Empires back each other on Imperial issues. Americans have no moral capital to spend on this protest.

    • Pugiron says:

If we agreed to read your post would you agree to stop making the same argument twice and try to make a better one? If the Angles and Saxons and Normans would get out of Britan and let us Celts have the whole thing back then I’ll start worrying about other cultures getting their “own” land back. If not, shut up you overweight crybaby. Tibet had capital punishment for failing to show proper reverence for the Lamas. If you think Tibet was all love and flowers because a bunch of stupid actors told you so, you need to put your helmet back on.

  11. aryannia says:

Pugiron, please, I wish you’d take a moment… Quite honestly, I am not educated enough on the subject to state an opinion or attempt to agree/argue with you, but I’d very much love to understand… You really do seem to make some very valid points that would encourage people (including myself) to do some research and learn. Unfortunately, your seeming inability to transform your anger into something constructive, something other than straight bitterness almost invalidates your words.

  12. pizzle says:

    too true

  13. T77 says:

    WIN!!!!!!

  14. kia says:

its intersting when people compare china to nazi’s. sure china has killed many of its OWN citizens. USA and the Nazi party have killed millions of others. USA have been from 1676 involved in 26 wars ( including civil wars) most of the chinese people that have died were in civil wars. from 1900′s america has been in 12 diffrent wars. you cant tell me they havnt killed more than the nazi’s.

  15. glacio says:

A couple of the things ya’ll have mentioned that compare contemporary China to Nazi Germany (the Cultural Revolution, the Great Leap Forward), when yes 100s of millions of people died, happened 80 and 60 years ago. Mao is no longer in power and neither is Hitler, so it’s not quite fair to make that comparison, and the Chinese people are very aware of the fact that Mao and the communist party majorly screwed up on both of those. It’s like saying Germany should not have another Olympics because of the Holocaust.

That being said, there are numerous current situations in China that China still needs to address, however after living in China for a while, the West really seems to blow most of these out of proportion at least bigger then most Chines think. Tibet in particular, the Chinese do not think that Tibet could be separated from China any more then Hawaii could be separated from the US. They have invested a lot of money into the infrastructure and have many Han Chinese living there (much the same as Hawaii or Alaska).

  16. ghgfh says:

    you suck you racist scum!!!

  17. attorneys says:

    very nicely done.
