How was this a fail?

BP, Exxon Shell all got their oil fields back. the Middle east is destabilized.

Our forces have lost 6k members (remember most of those losses are civilian contractors) in 9 YEARS?

We lost how many thousands of troopers at the D-Day landing in France on the first day? the first few hours? minutes?

I don’t see this as a fail.

Everyone is quick to forget the occupation of Germany and Japan, and those insurgencies that lasted into the mid fifties. But what do I know? I’m not a liberal sheep.

really? without American involvement in WWII the french, Russians and you English would be speaking German today. simple as that.

Those big Lancaster’s you used to beat back the German manufacturing machine were mostly built here in the states. the fuel they used came from here, too. not to mention the 1 mil or so fresh soldiers.

without our support before our involvement in the war, Brittan would have failed spectacularly. then the Germans could have diverted their attention to Russia. and all of her army.

and, yes we did enter the war late as we did with the first war, for the same reason: we were selling you weapons and fuel and the Germans food and non weapon supplies, the US made a lot of $$$ doing that. the war was something we didn’t want.

your commonwealth was just as useless in WWII as it is today.

It bugs me slightly when Americans think that they were the defining factor in the War in Europe. (Sorry, going a bit off topic here, but i’ll offer my response to the matter at hand afterwards) The German (not Nazi as many people keep saying) Army was being driven back in North Africa, The Italians were on the vegre of breaking and the Soviets were driving back the fascist forces in Russia. The American forces joined with the rest of the Commonwealth forces in 1943, for the invasion of Italy, the first actual engagement involving American forces took place in Kasserine Pass, in Tunisa, and involved a division of the British army. And all future successes in Europe were joint operations.
As for the War on Terror, as Britain now don’t have any active regiments in Iraq, only Afganistan, if America manage to “Liberate” Iraq as they keep saying then good on them, but as soon as everything is settled remove yourselves and let the country stand on its own feet.
For anyone who is interested, i’m Scottish, a country that has never been conquered in it’s history.

So all those kurds in northern Iraq were wiped out with lollipops?? I was in baghdad for 8 months in 2004 as an embedded trainer for the Iraqi National Guard (at the time, they were all converted to the active army later). Make no mistake there were all kinds of things found and covered up, one in particular that I was there for. I was confused that it was sealed and buried since it was during W’s bud for re-election, would have been only beneficial. The news media is garbage, I watched CNN talking about a “battle” going on only blocks away from where I sat in Baghdad, the video was from marines fighting in Tikrit, and the event happened 2 weeks prior… I only knew it was the same event by the description of the local landmarks ie. former Olympic Training Area.

What about the Afghani’s?

One other thing, WE as soldiers are not killing truely innocent Iraqi’s, we get prosecuted for that!! Most of civilian Iraqi deaths are coming from their own people, they do target their own in order to use fear to motivate people to join their cause.

I lived and worked with 150-200 Iraqi’s so don’t even make it sound as if US soldiers are just going down the street mowing down whoever gets in their way…
