  1. tkdspence says:

    it’s basicly true

  2. Blarg says:

Yeah, because, you know, us taking the oil from Iraq has done SO much to lower the cost of gas.

    /sarcasm

    • IPG says:

Oh, I see… so Bush/Rumsfeld never intended to win the war in Iraq on the cheap? Or is it that it was obvious from the beginning that they and their bunch of fellow morons would screw up royally?

Let me suggest an alternative caption:

      Oil ahoy

      FAIL

    • princess lol says:

      oh yes

  3. Forge says:

yep and all the tankers we’ve had lined up at the ports stealing all the oil …. that we could have just bought.. wait.. umm no

  4. Mr. Nom says:

Yeah, and all those oil companies making world record shattering profits /sarcasm… no, wait, that one’s true.

  5. Stacey says:

Riiight… makes no sense. Oh, and shows a ton of respect during Memorial Day Weekend.

  6. LlamaHomefry says:

Well, considering we havne’t taken a DROP of oil from Iraq, I give this a 1. Do some research, people! If we really were do you think gas prices would be so high?

    • analytik says:

      OMGWTFROTFLMAO

      • LlamaHomefry says:

Qhat are you laughing at? Don’t believe me? Talk to some soldiers over there instead of listening to the nightly news with Katie Couric! Or did you even stop to think that the news lies?

        • Leah says:

Considering Iraq is the 7th largest supplier of oil to the US, I think that’s more than a drop. However, yes, not the biggest supplier.

    • no1askedme says:

You’re partially right, the war in Iraq does not directly net us oil. What it DOES do is give the U.S. more political influence in the region, which may result in more oil. Not that the oil mega-corps are gonna let that happen…

  7. Dave says:

Also, you notice that it is very obviously in a temperate climate….? Not a great deal of oil at Fort Stewart, Ga (my guess). Would it have been that hard to find a photo of a tank in the desert?

  8. Choclet pi says:

I dont think Bush even needed a real reason to fug up the world even more.

  9. Cutlesnap says:

    O, you silly kids!

  10. Jamie says:

We get most of our oil from Canada and Mexico, very little comes from the Middle East. Besides, the tank is the wrong color, it’s probably at Ft. Knox. Only gold there, no oil.

Oh and as for record profits. Microsoft has high profits than oil companies. If you want someone to blame for high prices, blame Congress.

    • JustSomeGuy says:

Counter. Oil companies are making enormous profits and through taxes, so is the government. I happen to live in an oil rich area, and we are being given benefits due to the surplus. However, our gas prices are still higher than I’d like.

  11. Choclet pi says:

The prices are high because the oil is running out..and all the easily obtained oil has been used.

    • matchew says:

Thanks to technologies developed in the last twenty years, we could access tons of crude (oil, not comments) here in the US using old wells that were capped off and rigs with smaller footprints – acid fracturing and horizontal drilling are a couple of the tech possibilities – but the environmentalists have successfully kept us stuck.

There is plenty of oil, easy to reach, not even tapped; but we don’t have the political will to do what must be done to get it.

    • harry pootr says:

you’re just a straight up dumbass, the cost of oil is 60% profit for the suppliers, the rest is the needed price. so oil should only be $1-2 if people werent money hungry asses.

  12. Ocrap says:

Even If I was on the left side I’d still find this picture not funny. It got a one for me.

Just say “Bush sucks” and you get like 80 people to agree because they follow like sheep.
Say “We are only after the oil in Iraq” and everyone ‘feels’ like that is the truth. Not many actually look for the truth.

Continue being sheep. Follow the media. Don’t do your research.
You people are easy to please.

  13. chas says:

um, shouldnt humor be topical? this is so 2003!! keep trying guys.

  14. Angela says:

    Wow….

Why oh why can no one take a JOKE all of a sudden?

  15. Ignatz says:

    I blame Milton Friedman.

  16. Jason says:

    I gave this a one.

Aside from the glaringly bad mixture of symbolism this pun intended, there something else that must be considered.

The intention of the picture and caption in my eyes is that we’re fighting a war in Iraq for Oil. If my interepetation is wrong, I’m sorry, but the previous comments seem to agree with my thoughts.

(Standing on my soap box now)

What ever the reason of why we’re involved in Iraq or where ever else American’s are dying. We have to remember, we live in a country that has control over its leaders. We voted for the war by not saying “no” or asking enough “whys”. We can say we were lied too, we can say that everything seems different in hindsight. But the fact is, the evidence was there, their were people talking about these ideas before the invasion, but we didn’t listen, or we didn’t allow them to state their cases loudly enough.

Al Gore is correct there is an assualt on reason, in 2003 discussion of the war was neatly one sided by fear of being anti patriotic. We need to learn from our lessons and then we can prevent more deaths in the future. Apathy of the people will bring disaster to a democracy. We are educated so that we are not blind, deaf, and speechless. We have the abilitiy to see and hear the evidence, and even to ask for more. But we didn’t listen, we didn’t want to see, and we certainly didn’t open our mouths.

I was against the invasion, but I believed once we attacked that there could be no turning back. There was a news advisor just prior to the invasion that said with all of the different ethnic groups with in Iraq and different nations influencing those groups that we’d have to commit for 10 years. Looks like he might be right.

In the end I know my opinions mean little and I’m probably going to get flammed, but I still have one last opinion.

    Don’t politicize our troops.

Whatever reason, whether its oil, Saddam, to fight terrorism, or to stablize the U.S. Dollar as the primary currency for oil; our troops have to go and fight for it because we told them too.

I believe in free speech and don’t think anyone should censure what they feel is right, but when we all look at this picture and caption we shouldn’t laugh, we should see it and ask ourselves questions.

Any questions about the war we can think of, and if we can’t answer the questions ourselves we should ask our politicians, and if they can’t answer the question then we need to hold them accountable with our votes.

This is how it should be in all matters involving the course of action our nation takes.

  17. H. Tebazile says:

I have to say that yes, the war was about oil… not making it cheaper, but to make it more expensive. After all that is where the Bush fortune (as well as the fortunes of many of his advisors) has come from. Strategically this was the best place to hit as its borders were established by the British (when they took it as a colony) to encompass the richest oil reserves in the middle east.
Also, we do not live in a Democracy, we live in a Republic. BIIIIG difference. So please, if you don’t know all the facts, keep your mouth shut.

  18. .... says:

I wrote this and I never expected it to get such… heated discussion. Some of you have suggest “Following the herd” yet nearly all of you who wrote in depth comments automatically tied this to Iraq, War and Oil PRICES none of which are mentioned in the caption. This had no more thinking behind it than the cat saying “Proceed” for example to why not shut the hell up get off your “I’m so special, I’m the only one that knows whats really going on cos I read a few articles” get over yourselves and just enjoy the idea of some guy poking his head out the top of the tank and shouting “Oil ahoy” possibly in a pirate voice.

Seriously just take a chill pill

P.S. to Jason: Please tell me you write stuff like that professionally cos if you don’t you really need to look at yourself and try and find out where your sense of humor got to, tried looking under the sofa (couch in your language)?
