this is my teacher. he;s not gay. he’s just an attention whore. He talks about these costumes all the time and we are forced to listen.
Last year he wore this getup to our graduation (in front of our friends and family… including grandmothers). I have never recovered.

Even in the theatre dept. this ISN’T cool!!!!!

Most people who make fun of others are compensating for something they lack that the other person has. Pretty people make fun of smart people, average people make fun of celebrities, and people who are either insecure with their own sex lives or their own sexuality make fun of gays.

Lesbians can wear whatever they want as long as we get to watch them kissing. I understand how Lesbians can find women irresistable. I do not understand how guys find other guys attractive. Not saying I hate them, I just understand one and not the other. I just have more in common with lesbians than I do with gay men.

It is a little funny, but I think that’s the point.
Isn’t that at least partially what America’s about? We’re supposed to be all kinds of tolerant, and even if it weirds us out that there’s guys in tulle and glitter, or girls in…(what do lesbians wear when they’re in gay pride parades? I have no idea…) that, despite our shock or disapproval or whatever, we let them be, because we have the same right (though it’s not likely most people will ever excercise that right. It is a little bizarre.)

I really don´t have a problem with the Gay community. But you´can´t compare this to Maurdi Grau. In Mardi Grau its like, ´I´m drunk right now, lets get dressed in costumes and get more drunk!! And about 5000 people agree with you´ This is a parade, where one guy, regardless of his sexual orienation, got up in the morning and said ´Today, I want to dress and prance around like a fairy´

I agree on the Swan Lake thing. When I first looked at that tutu it looked like feathers to me. Only on second glance did I see that it was snowflakes.

Yet another reason why the assimilation of the gay community via marriage is so important. Fewer of these yahoos who equate being gay to being freakish. Yeah, dress up and have fun. *psssst* Some (more than you would think) conservative christians DO complain about Halloween. Most schools aren’t allowed to decorate with bats or spiders or jack-o-lanterns, and don’t even think about devils and witches! Students have “Fall Parties” and some parents even complain about those because they’re just “Halloween Parties in disguise”. Apparently Halloween encourages satanism the same way that hanging around gay people makes you gay. Who knew?

Would it get the same response if it were Mardi Gras? I honestly have to wonder that. Do I think it’s over the top? Yes. So what, though? I am always surprised that people who dress like that are considered to make the queer community look bad, but Bjork’s swan dress didn’t make all singers look bad. Dennis Rodman’s outlandish dressing (yes I’m aware that’s a serious understatement) didn’t give all basketball players a bad name. So why does this individual give us a bad name? It seems to me to be purely an excuse for socially acceptable bigotry.
