Maaannnn, that’s some of the finest stupidity I’ve seen in a long time! Paddleboarding to where lava is entering the ocean. One shift of the wind and those fumes would knock his ass straight out. Pele must have been in a good mood that day not to kill him!

And yes kids, this is news. It’s not every day a lava flow makes it to the ocean in such spectacular fashion.

BTW, GomerP, do you know that “suit,” as in “lawsuit,” is spelled without the “e” you typed? “Suite” means a group of something, like a group of rooms, or a group of furniture pieces, or a type of musical composition. Many Americans pronounce “suite” like “suit,” but I’ve always preferred to pronounce it like “sweet.” It seems that Wiktionary prefers to pronounce “suite” like “sweet,” too, bless them.

For those who don’t know, Eddie Aikau was a famed waterman from Hawaii who would rescue people from surf no one else dared enter. He went on the Polynesian Voyaging Society recreation of the voyage between Hawaii and Polynesia. The ship developed a leak and got in trouble in some VERY big surf 12 miles off of Molokai. Eddie, being the hero he was, jumped on a surfboard and paddled off to get help. The rest of the crew was rescued by the coast guard, but no one ever found Eddie.

The lava represents the smoldering anger of the Sunni minority encroaching on the vast sea of Shi’a complacency. The guy on the board represents our troops, who are in danger of being smashed between the two. And the Kurds are represented by, I don’t know, the steam in the upper left corner of the picture. Duh.
