How true. Bush is the real criminal…
and stupid to boot.
Silly libtards, believing your own propaganda.
I’ll take “LIES THAT SENT US TO WAR” for 400, Alex?
Way to confirm e’pundits observation!
I’m sure it comforts you to believe that those of us who have little to no trust in our current president don’t read facts, investigate our suspicions, and buy into obviously inflamed propaganda. It pains me to inform you that this simply isn’t so. I can understand that, from your stance, the sources that call attention to Bush’s reversion of attention away from Afghanistan (where the 9/11 attackers’ Al Quaeda group came from) and toward Iraq for false, or drummed-up reasons, are not credible sources. To me, and many others, they are. And, quite frankly, there are no reasons to find the sources I favor any less credible than the ones you favor, other than perhaps party solidarity. Propaganda may be a fun word to toss around, but it really does not apply here. Propaganda rarely cites academically credible sources behind its information.
Ironically, in a comment suggesting that people should cite academically credible sources, you don’t cite any sources. Oops.
Al-Qaeda’s leadership comes from Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The pawns for 9-11 came from Afghanistan, certainly, but they could just as easily have been recruited in any Islamic nation in the world.
Telling an invisible enemy that you’ve got a bigger stick than he does is foolish. Our response to 9-11 was both irresponsible and foolish, but what else can a politician do? They only have 2 tools – manipulation and force.
You find it ironic that, in a casual forum, rather than a journalistic or research setting, I don’t provide cited works? TELL ME MORE, ALANIS MORRISETTE, TELL ME MORE!!
And if not Afghanistan, then why Iraq? Why choose Iraq over, as you say, Saudi Arabia or Pakistan? And why say, specifically, that an invasion of Iraq has not to do with taking down a dictator and bringing a nation democracy but with the attacks of 9/11?
Propaganda- the misrepresentaion of facts to pull the flow of the mass opinion in your favor.
just puttin that out there.
BYYYEEEE!!!
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Meh. I get it, but… it’s just not funny.
Everyone just focus in on that Mobil sign over there…
It’s true… if Nixon had done any of this crap they’d have executed him.
Actually, all these “crimes” exist only in your imagination.
That’s why the American public gave Bush a second term.
Republican, get of my intertube! This is Democrat territory, Al Gore gave it to us!
Heh.
I think I recall Charles Manson remarking the same thing after he was brought in. “I’m an innocent man. These crimes are all in your head.”
uuummmm… thank you for sharing.
Another moronic partisan cliche from Kaitlin: Outrageous, exaggerated, and offensive comparisons.
Perhaps you’d like to compare Bush’s sleazy politics to Hitler’s slaughter of hundreds of thousands of Jews like the rest of your kind love to do.
That type of crap is self-defeating. You think people are going to be interested in reforming our bought-and-paid-for political system when the only people championing that reform like to make those stupid and offensive comparisons?
Nope. Stop ruining everything for the rest of us by being the biggest cliche on this website.
Well actually, I was just making the comparison as a reference to Vincent Bugliosi, rather than directly comparing George Bush Jr to Charles Manson… but go ahead and read whatever you like into that. Far me it for me to stop your fun.
Maybe we can talk about Obama being agreat speaker … LIKE HITLER!!! Yup, that was the latest repuglican contention on the OBAMA IS A TERRORIST!!! thread.
Evil Pundit, does it feel cozy that you’re in the 19% approval rating demographic?
You know, theoretically, its possible to dislike all the moron liberal cliche-tards on this site and DISAPPROVE of President Bush.
But in the punditkitchen world, there are only exaggerated extremes, so maybe I’m wrong.
That would opposed to the 9% approval rating the current congress has right?
Wow… let Clinton go, willya?
Nixon in ’08. Death is no excuse!
Somebody should call Ron Poleil for the technology to keep human heads alive in jars.
Futurama rocks!
Getting away with screwing the average person with their clothes on? Priceless….
You know, my dad has a signed letter from Nixon thanking him for all the campaign trail help. Every time we get into a scuffle over my liberal ways I point at that letter.
It doesn’t work but it does diffuse tension and then we agree not to discuss politics again … until the next time.
Totally Random comment of the day.
And yes, my father is a Repuglican. I guess we truly do learn from the mistakes of our fathers.
My mother made me and my younger brother come inside to watch Nixon resign the presidency. She said, “This is history”. She was (is still?) a Goldwater Republican, so I’m not sure what lesson she was trying to teach. Whatever it was, it didn’t take with me.
Possibly something along the lines of:
“If you are going to steal; steal enough to live the rest of your life in a country without extradition…. and don’t get caught”
That is one of my dad’s favorite sayings
Nixon wasn’t really conservative; an early RINO. Wage and price controls BEFORE the oil embargo when inflation was about 1% ? Starting relations with Communist China recently after China had killed about ….. 30 Million people.
“Nixon will be remembered as a classic case of a smart man shitting in his own nest. But he also shit in our nests, and that was the crime that history will burn on his memory like a brand. By disgracing and degrading the Presidency of the United States, by fleeing the White House like a diseased cur, Richard Nixon broke the heart of the American Dream.”
George W. Bush: Greatest President Ever!
He made Nixon look honest.
He made Ford look legitimately elected.
He made Reagan look engaged.
He made George Bush Sr. look like a wise and prudent commander-in-chief.
He even made Quayle look smart.
He SINGLEHANDEDLY redeemed Republican politicians for the last 50 years!
And the most hilarious part of your comment is he did that while out maneuvering the Democrats at every turn even when they held majorities in both houses of congress.
Sorry, but I’d rather my president lied to me about having sex with an intern than about who we should invade in retaliation for a terrorist attack.
Who did Bill Clinton’s lie hurt? A few peoples’ feelings, his family, and the Democratic Party a bit.
Who did George W Bush’s lies hurt? I don’t have a casualty list handy…Can someone give us the numbers?
Me too, but Clinton’s offense wasn’t lying it was perjury and abuse of power for personal gain. He first used the office of the President of the United States in an attempt to quash a civil law suit and when that failed as it should have he perjured himself which because he was the President of the United States he violated the separation of powers by trying to falsely manipulate a trial. Basically, what Clinton did wasn’t a simple lie it was an attack on our constitution and an attempt to seize judicial power by the executive branch. As such he should have been convicted in his impeachment proceedings but then liberals pretty much didn’t care that this man attacked the country at it’s foundation.
What Bush did was repeat the intel he’d been given. The same intel which prompted most Democrats to press Clinton to attack Hussien. So by your own words you should be turning out most of your Democratic reps and senators because they voiced the same lie before Bush stated it at the State of the Union. And I do find it interesting that a Canadian firm has contracted with Iraq to process some Nigerian yellow cake (about 800 tons of it) that was laying around Iraq. But then why let a few little facts get in the way of a good political point.
You mean the yellow cake that was processed 3 years after the invasion and Saddam did nothing with it for 12 years? Which by the way the CIA told the speech writters not to incluide and got a real CIA agent fired because her husband debunked the whole yellow cake malarkey? That yellow cake?
No he was not simply “given intelligence”. The Administration cooked the books, chose the worst case scenario, lied repetitive about the nonexistent threat, abandoned Afghanistan to their allies (including the French) and then kept changing the reasons why the invaded once no WMD were found (and joked about it while Americans and Iraqis died by the thousands).
At least Nixon got the U.S. out of a war!
Them the facts.
Nixon also abolished the draft and SS but nobody mentions that. Clinton put his name on Gramm-Leach-Bailey which essentially repealed Glass-Steagall and helped create the banking monsters of today. Bush sent us off to war but democrats helped authorize it. Bush instituted Medicare Part D which has added to the debt burden and was a pretty left leaning decision. Bush signed his name to TARP but Democrats helped pass it overwhelmingly. Obama has continued many of Bush’s policies but nobody mentions that. He still hasn’t prosecuted any bankers and now it comes out that AG Holder’s former firm represented MERSCORP.
Wake the hell up people, there is no left or right. There may be some differences in social philosophy and corporate affiliation but they’re both beholden to anyone that can toss them a buck and keep them in office.
