there has been instability in Somalia for over a year and a half now, and many Somalis, especially those who have suffered much under Ethiopian military control (albeit they are not alone in committing atrocities, as elements of an extreme militant wing of the ICU, known as al-Shabaab, are also causing damage to civilian life and property) wish only to have back what they had under the ICU. stability and Islamic rule, unaffected by US imperialism and the invaders from a “Christian” Ethiopia.

in Iraq, there is an insurgency that is fighting legally, and many who have turned in their guns and given their names have been granted amnesty… and there is an element of insane terrorists that feel that bombing their own countrymen and women will help get rid of a foreign oppressor.

many were and still are fighting for a just freedom and autonomy, and have a right to, as long as they target specific military targets with specific objectives.

americans never had freedom when they still existed in Europe hundreds of years ago, facing political and religious repression. then they fought back against the foreign oppressor and gained autonomy and freedom. why shouldn’t Iraqis have the same chance at determining their own fate?

if i ever were picked up and held wrongfully for years, and tortured, at Gitmo, i would, without a doubt, strike back in the heaviest way i possibly could.

and in case people think i’m a terrorist or something, let it be known that insurgency, tactically aimed at only inflicting damage at military targets based on specific objectives, is LEGAL according to international law. there are insurgents in Iraq fighting for their freedom, and then there are also terrorists fighting stupidly against civilians, their own national brothers and sisters. do not get the two confused, for i am certain there are insurgents who have not once directed an attack at civilians and aimed solely to kick out the oppressive invader.

and that anti-military reaction is exactly what i would have after enduring Gitmo.
