That’s my 17 year old brother in this photo. About 2 hours after this photo was taken he was beaten by riot police an inch from his life without cause.

I know this is slightly off topic but very related, but no one has mentioned the freedom of expression being completely repressed via the press being detained and having their media (equipment) being taken from them – some of which has YET to be returned! Just my 2 cents.

*I* don’t, but I do know of people (self-proclaimed Libertarians) that argue such points, that it would be better for the common man to have privatized response forces (’cause “healthy competition” amongst the fire departments worked out -so- well in NYC 140 years ago).

The Republican mantra of “Privatization=Good/Socialism=Bad” is frightfully misguided, yet so many people are buying into it hook, line, and sinker.
