Have you seen the latest polls? Palin is failin’, hard. McCain isn’t even using her NAME in his ads anymore, she’s become that much of a drag on the ticket. The Republicans badly underestimated the intelligence of the American people by choosing her, and now that Americans have figured out exactly what Palin is, she is worse than useless to them. This election is already in the bag for us Democrats.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand and enough of this *love fest* (j/k) While I truly do not like Biden, I have a horrible feeling that in fact he will rip Palin a new one. The only reason I believe that is because he does have years on committees in argumentative situations.
I agree, I am worried that Palin will stink it up. I will be rooting for her though. I would not be out of the question for Biden to stick his foot in his mouth once or twice. He does have that reputation, for example, saying Hillary may have been the better choice for VP. If I were a worshipper of the Obamanator, I would be a bit worried. Not as worried as a Palin supporter, but worried still.
He won’t be allowed to ‘rip her a new one’. If he does, could you imagine the backlash? Seasoned old Washington dude rips precious Palin to pieces. There’s one thing with respectable debating, but if he goes for any low blows, or says _anything_ that can be construed as a gender-based attack (which can be quite easy, considering the number of euphemisms in our culture) and it’ll be a huge blow to the Democratic ticket.

Politicians are always allowed to change their mind, and I welcome it. It shows that they are able to think, learn and grow. There is a distinct difference between chaning your mind and lying, however. If she said “I was for the bridge, then after doing some thinking, soul searching, etc. realized that this was improper use of tax funds”, I would have whole-heartedly respected her. That is not what she did, she stated “Thanks but no thanks”. That was a LIE, no matter how you paint it. The truth is that she went against it when she knew congress was on a witch hunt over the bridge and she couldn’t get it approved, so to save face she turned against it. She was never always against it. Not to mention, she kept the $400 million already given to Alaska for the project and spent it elsewhere.

Just because someone has connections with a political party, doesn’t mean everything they do is politically motivated. Seth is right in that /b/ would, and does, do this to everyone they can.
Palin’s email being hacked is only notable because she was breaking the law by doing government work with the account. And that account is not subject to the same record keeping standards as real government email accounts.
This hacker was politically motivated. In an email explaining his actions, he said: “I read though the emails… ALL OF THEM… before I posted, and what I concluded was anticlimactic, there was nothing there, nothing incriminating, nothing that would derail her campaign as I had hoped, all I saw was personal stuff, some clerical stuff from when she was governor…. And pictures of her family”
Wanting to derail someones campaign doesn’t necessarily have to be politically motivated. Derailing her campaign is just a way of hurting someone, and some people just want to hurt other people to satisfy their own pathetic egos. And some people do things like this because they enjoy the attention, or the confusion it may cause. To paraphrase a line from Dark Knight. Some people just want to watch the world burn.

PiMan please cite said law that she has broken. I don’t believe I have ever heard of a law that designates your work e-mail must be conducted on a work account. Government agencies instruct employees not to use work e-mail to conduct personal business and inform employees that any correspondance on work e-mail is open to public record. I agree that it would be a poor decision ethically to conduct such business on a personal account purely to avoid public record, but does that constitute a legal infraction?
You see, there is no law. PiMan will not be able to provide one.
I will not be able to find the exact law because exact laws are difficult to find. Websites dedicated to that sort of documentation have some of the worst search engines used today.
But that fact is, that general (political) correspondence is required to be archived for at least 3 years. A personal Yahoo account doesn’t have that sort of record keeping standard.

Be at peace. When she is VP she won’t be allowed to use e-mail any more than McCain will be allowed, because anything in an email is not protected under a subpoena. Lots of presidents and vice presidents in the past who have been e-mail junkies before their terms had to stop using e-mail entirely during their tenure in the Oval Office.
If keeping a few work emails mixed in with the personal ones in a personal e-mail account is the worst they can find on her, I’d say she’s doing pretty good. At least she’s not breaking bread with unrepentant terrorists and agitators.
