I read some of EP’s posts and it always makes me think of the book within the book in ‘Nineteen Eighty-four’, and it’s description of the ‘ideal’ of a party member

“a credulous and ignorant fanatic whose prevailing moods are fear, hatred, adulation and orgiastic triumph…”

He even practices ‘doublethink’ to a degree I didn’t think possible outside of fiction

Perhaps it’s Andy Kaufman style performance art, or maybe he should really be called “O’Brien”

Americans are not stupid, but if they were, it would be because of people who throw a tantrum against people they disagree with. You actually had some decent points to make, but instead you directed a fit towards one person. The Economist is a decent source, but the fact that classrooms are essentially owned by the ivory tower liberal elite and that newspapers are like buffets that cater to the lowest common denominator makes them less desirable by far. But I must say, your rant makes you guilty of the things our pundits are guilty of. And that is being a self-righteous ass hold blowhard. At least EP keeps his stuff short and sweet (sour?). Douche.

EP, YOU are the reason why Americans are stupid. YOU are the kind of person who is witty without being intelligent, eloquent without substance, a veneer of quality without any true capacity for productivity. YOU make people less intelligent because YOU refuse to engage in intelligent arguments and make people think that they are actively learning about politics when they read your comments. People think that the drone of political “punditry” is substantial and important when modern “punditry” is nothing more than television attempting to elevate uneducated viewer’s opinions of themselves by simplifying a political race to sound bytes and snap shots. “Political Punditry” does not happen on television, it happens in legitimate information sources like The Economist, newspapers, and classrooms. I have yet to see an intelligent comment made on television about this political race, and I am amazed that the American public is so entranced by the inane fluff that networks pass off as issues.
