  1. Sarah Palin says:

Now see, what did I tell you?

  2. Seth says:

It’s only socialism when poor people benefit. The rich are obviously better than you or I, and probably favored by God. We should be handing them our money, they obviously know what to do with it or they wouldn’t be rich. Remember, what’s good for the immoral bandits on Wall Street is what’s good for America!

    • froofrou says:

*sigh* I love it when socialism and capitalism are misrepresented….Before you pounce, I don’t think what we have is a capitalistic society in the truest sense of the word, and I DO NOT WANT the bailout.

      • DeathWyrmNexus says:

        I still think you’re awesome.

        • froofrou says:

Wasn’t there an algore picture on here a while back captioned “Excuse me while I bask in my awesomeness”? I think I want that picture, only with me :-) Luv you DW.

          • DeathWyrmNexus says:

            XD Luv you long time.

I wonder if you can get those ordered somewhere. That would be neat. I think at all those macro sites, you can actually get posters made and sent. *is being dim*

      • ema says:

        I hate this bailout too.

        • froofrou says:

I think most interrigent people think this bailout is a nasty little way to get a bunch of crap through congress that we don’t need. Has anyone actually read the !!!!!!!!451!!!!!!!!! page bill?????? Has anyone seen the extra crap that doesn’t have anything to do with the economy that is getting passed????? Normal proceedure to attach pork barrel stuff to a bill or not, if the economy is in THAT MUCH of a crisis, then let’s put forth a bill that has everything to do with the economy, and nothing to do with $300 tax credits for businesses that can prove their workers use a bicycle as their primary means of transportation to work!!!! I think this is the biggest snow job in the history of politics *sigh*

      • Bucky O'Hare says:

I agree with you. Why do proponents of socialism bash giving money to rich people as a bad thing, yet promote giving money to poor people as a good thing? Why should either be ok? How about not giving people other people’s money period? If we can all agree that this bailout makes no sense, why should it make sense who you’re bailing out? That’s what’s wrong with this entitlement mentality.

  3. jellybeans says:

well … according to the Palin’s giving money to charity or taxes sure isn’t “The American Way”
    -
    Taxes Paid:
For 2006, the Palins paid $11,944 (LINE 63) in total taxes on gross income of $127,869 (LINE 37), which is a 9.3% tax rate.
    -
For 2007, the Palins paid $24,738 (LINE 63) in total taxes on gross income of $166,080 (LINE 37), which is a 14.9% tax rate.
    -
    Charitable Contributions:
    2006
In 2006, Sarah and Todd Palin donated $4,250 to charity in cash/check donations and $630 in non-cash/check donations, for a total of $4,880. This is 3.3% of their adjusted gross income.
    2007
In 2007, Sarah and Todd Palin donated $2,500 to charity in cash/check donations and $825 in non-cash/check donations, for a total of $3,325. This is 1.5% of their adjusted gross income.
    -
I thought Christians were encouraged to give to charities?
    -
PS – Much as I dislike him; the McCains gave around 30% of their income to charity in 2006 and 2007.
Gotta give the man and his wife credit for that

    • jellybeans says:

My sources here may be iffy of course ….

      • Lolnathan says:

And most couples making $120,000 to $170,000 give exactly nothing to charity. Maybe some change to the bell-ringing Santa at Christmas. Kudos to them for giving when most Americans do not. Must be nice to be able to spare several thousand dollars a year to give to charities, even with five kids.

The Palins also don’t have the benefit of having $100 million sitting around. The McCain’s dont even need their income, so its easy to give away money.

As far as what they paid in taxes , if you feel there is something wrong with their taxes or that they are evading taxes, this is the first I’ve heard of it. You’d think someone would have said something by now.

    • froofrou says:

How much did the Obama’s give? And Biden? And it’s encouraged, not required :-)

      • Lolnathan says:

Obama got some flak about donating almost nothing to charity, then his contributions spiking just before he decided to run for President. Biden has given $3600 total over 10 years, amounting to 0.1% of his gross income. Personally I think anyone should be commended for giving, regardless of the amount.

  4. DoctorWorm says:

Yeah, good thing too. Cause giving annual checks to the poor is the Soviet way! We should start collectivizing our farms, too. Hell, let’s put up pictures of Obama saying “Our beloved leader” as he rides roughshod over the Duma…er, the Congress.

  5. froofrou says:

    Click the name. Hmmmmmm……..

  6. Rorsc says:

But most of Obama’s donations went to his church and racist preacher.

    • PiMan says:

Do you have any source for that whatsoever?

      • Rorsc says:

you do know how to google don’t you ?
Try the same place JB got theirs.

        • jellybeans says:

I got mine at johnmccain.com – see link in my name in the post where I claim the source may be iffy.
          -
Another fun tax thing to note: She did not claim the 60k for family travel paid for by Alaska and she did not claim the 11k she claimed as per diem meal expense for the nights she was IN HER HOUSE
          -
Maybe if everyone paid the taxes they actually owe instead of bending over backwards to avoid and evade them the country would have a smaller deficit and the bailout would not have been needed. That would mean closing the offshore banking loophole McCain loves though

  7. Jack says:

What everyone fails to understand is that the bailout is, for better or worse, absolutely necessary. If these companies fail, and can’t recover, Main Street will be even more adversely affected. As much as these furious right-winger anti-socialist hangers-on from the McCarthy days would like to believe that all that can come of this is bad, bad, bad, what they fail to recognize is how many “Joe Six-Packs” will suffer if these companies die. Lest we forget–ordinary people invest money, too. And, of course, it’s the common American who has to worry the most about this subprime mortgage issue.

Now, I don’t like seeing greedy fat cats get a 700 billion dollar security blanket, either, but it’s a necessary evil for a greater good. My advice to all of the people denouncing this bailout? Do your research before you go spouting off about the evils of Wall Street and how the government shouldn’t help it survive.

  8. Steve S says:

Paulson only looks HALF as evil as Chertoff…..the most evil LOOKING man in the US.

Whether those brokerages do or don’t get bailed out won’t affect me one bit. AIG probably won’t make one bit of difference. FANNIE and FREDDIE MAC will, however. That will affect interest rates, housing prices, property values etc.

What we need is more anti-socialist hangers on. Obama’s voting record IS TO THE LEFT of a Socialist. What does that make him, Marxist ?

    • scum-bot says:

and being a socialist is bad how exactly…?

      • froofrou says:

You’re 14. Come back when you’ve actually seen it in action. :-)

      • Onceupop says:

Scum-bot, they’re Americans. They’re like religious people, feeling they have to enlighten the world with their great ideas. So they don’t like other kinds of ideas. Plus of course the propaganda against the SU during the Cold War, which still lingers on apparently.

They also have pretty selective memories. The Great Depression anyone? And are mostly pretty ignorant about the rest of the world (Obama is considered Right-wing almost every where else.).

So as in most cases the best way is the middle, and a pure capitalist or a pure socialist society are unworkable and inhumane.

    • PiMan says:

Obama’s voting record IS TO THE RIGHT of the centre. Just the vast majority of US politicians are even further right. (click name)

      • Rorsc says:

WTF ! He’s THE most liberal senator in the senate !!!!!!!!

        • froofrou says:

Not really (OUCH, THIS HURTS). He’s overall about the 10th most liberal. That story from (Time Magazine?) was based off one small part of his voting record. You can’t be the most liberal when you aren’t there to vote. I wouldn’t call him right of center, that’s a major reach and only true if you move the center way to the left. But he’s not the most liberal.

  9. name says:

    Best Wishes!,
