    Isn’t that Gordon Brown?

  2. tom trifik says:

    **cowers**

    SURE!
    Whatever you say!
    I’m in with that!
    Sounds good…

    **slinks away**

  3. James T says:

That quite funny, somebody out there thought that the Prime Minister of Great Britain was an American. More likely the caption should be some excuse why Peter Mandelson is back in Parliament AGAIN, no mater how many times he leaves, he comes right on back.

    • Dustin O says:

That’s quite funny, not only have you misspelled “that’s”, but you actually think that the internet is a reliable source of a country’s bank of knowledge. Neat.

      • PortlandMark says:

“you actually think that the internet is a reliable source of a country’s bank of knowledge”…
I keep hearing variations on this theme.

Where exactly is the “good” source of information? You know, the one that’s both accurate and free of bias? Don’t say Faux News, I’ll come over there and slap you silly ! :)

        • Dustin O says:

Occasionally of course you can find people on the internet who are intelligent, Im just saying, offshoots of “Icanhascheezburger” are not the first place I would start looking. Especially on a weekday afternoon before 5 oclock lol…

        • Irk says:

Well, actually… back when I was little… there were these big buildings… (almost every town had one) and they were filled with these things we’ll call them… “books” and these “books” were, in turn, filled with information. Some companies would even put together these things… we’ll call them… Encyclopedias… which were full of information on a broad range of topics… and had fact checkers and everything.

So, really, what I’m saying here is… get off your lazy ass, walk outside and go find information. If you expect other people to hand you information you deserve inaccuracy and bias because you don’t know any better, since you didn’t go learn it for yourself.
          :-P

      • Dick says:

What a twat. It should be apparent it was a typo.

    • bill says:

that’s because noone’s put the steak in his heart yet.

    • MIchael Price says:

“That quite funny, somebody out there thought that the Prime Minister of Great Britain was an American.” Well judging by his foreign policy I’m surprised anyone thinks otherwise.

  4. Silver says:

Oh dear goodness! Tell me that question just comes up automatically and that somebody over there knows what the UK Prime Minister looks like?! So much for the special relationship!

  5. El says:

    heh – Gordon finally appears!
shows just whats’s thought of *our* dearly beloved eader on the world stage -still prefer him to that t**t Cameron thought.
    (Brit kid delurks – hi!)

  6. El says:

    Brit kid cannot spell.

  7. Lolnathan says:

Gordon Dubya Brown appears! It’s a shame he probably only got submitted because some idiot confused him for Bush. (Not that I blame him.)

  8. Jim says:

I thought this was hilarious and no, I don’t have the faintest idea who the guy is.

  9. name says:

    To failblog?

  10. Lallz says:

    I’d break his kneecaps.

  11. Livo says:

hearing him talk makes you realise he’s the least likely man to be in the mafia ever :D

  12. Frankii says:

It’s Gordon Brown, are you really so isolated that you don’t know that?

    • n8 says:

Yes, we know who the hell Gordon Brown is. He’s Tony’s cheeky little upstart who found out to his peril that governing really isn’t so easy after all. When’s Gordon going to accept reality and just hand over the keys of #10 to David Cameron?

  13. robinhoo says:

Um, seriously? Failblog? You did not recognize the prime minister of Great Britain? Wow. Apt blog title, then….

    • Lolnathan says:

Except this isn’t Failblog… well, it wasn’t until you came in here and gave us a “Remembering what site you’re on” FAIL. You’ve failed our page all up. Thanks a lot!!

      • tyler says:

Also, it’s not saying he’s not the Prime Minister of Great Britain, it’s only saying that in this picture, he looks like a mob boss. Why can’t the people asking understand that? it’s supposed to be a FUNNY caption, it’s not saying we actually think he’s a mob boss.

  14. Dustin O says:

I also find it amusing that you people all assume whoever captioned this thought it was George Bush, out of your own preconceived notions. Its pretty obvious that George Bush doesn’t talk like that caption would insist, and that the man is making a gesture often recreated in “mob movies”.

  15. ganwil says:

Holy cow, folks, calm down! Yeah, I’m the guy who captioned this. Frankly, I never thought it would generate any interest at all. Contrary to the opinions of some, I wasn’t being a know-nothing Yank when I captioned it. The ONLY reason I chose that text is because Brown looks completely “Goodfellas” in that photo, and the economic crisis was very much on my mind. What’s with all the jumping to judgement about people you don’t even know? Cut me a little slack!

    • rewboss says:

ganwil, I think what’s confusing people here is that a) there’s a note on this submission that asks us to tell them who’s in the picture; and b) Gordon Brown isn’t the one asking Congress for $700 billion. So it’s not a great stretch of the imagination to jump to the conclusion that you didn’t know who was in the picture.

Now, if the caption had made the same joke about something in British politics — say, the nationalisation of Bradford and Bingley — it would have made sense to the Brits and they would have congratulated you on your unsurpassed knowledge. (Admittedly, it would also have mystified everyone else, but you can’t have everything.)

      • tommu says:

“Brown isn’t the one asking Congress for $700 billion. ”

He is as it goes. That’s half the reason he went to the new world last week.

        • Frankii says:

I can’t tell from this if you’re American, but if you are, I would like to point out, while you claim to be running the world and you also claim to be the supreme power, tiny little England is pretty far up there despite being about 1/20 of the size of America.

      • ganwil says:

I made this caption over on icanhascheezburger because the visual was so reminiscent of Godfather-esque mannerisms and slack-jawed mobster types. I matched up what I thought was amusing dialogue (albeit American-centric in content) to make what seemed to be a funny picture. It never occurred to me that I’d start a dust-up about how “unrealistic” the image was. My fault, really, as out of all the captioned pictures I’ve made using cats, nobody ever took me to task in the comments section with accusations like, “Nuh-UH! Cats don’t DRIVE racecars, idiot!”, and I was clearly spoiled by that. Incidentally, I don’t want to appear contrary, but I’m PRETTY sure Bradford and Bingley is a big-top circus that travels the United States.

    • Jenessa says:

I got it lol. It’s like Joe Pesci as a politician haha

    • Rosie says:

I was going to ask what accent that was supposed to be. I thought it might have been Irish… O_o

    • daveman says:

ganwil, I thought the caption was brilliant. Gordon Brown doesn’t speak with an Italian accent no, but these politicians are demanding billions of dollars from us under threat in order to bail out their cronies. Seems pretty gangsterish to me.

  16. Mike says:

That’s Gordon Brown you twats. That is not a British accent.

  17. Bucky O'Hare says:

LOL Wow forget the Fed. We should worry about Great Britain getting to involved America’s economy! Citizenship fail!

  18. Rory McCarthy says:

Umm, Gordon brown was raised in Edinburgh and went to higher education at, i think, an oxbridge uni, so why would he have that sort of accent? His is extremely posh. And i’m amazed if people honestly don’t know who he is. And, i reckon David Milliband should take over his position – I can’t see one good aspect of David Cameron at all.

    • Louise says:

Seconding the Miliband appreciation; if you thought that Blair was slimy, just wait till you get a load of Cameron…

    • Ma.Belle.Fleur says:

I’m pretty sure you should have read all the above comments because the guy who captioned it explained the photo.

  19. ethana2 says:

I wonder how much all of us unix users are going to read into this particular lol….

Goodness knows windows can break itself without the mafia’s help ;)

  20. Tessie says:

Oh… and ya might wanna have yer banker start yer car for the next few days or so… I’m just sayin’.

  21. CDthe says:

Just great to see some UK politics being taken the mickey out of :)

(We have some hysterical people over here, why do you think Have I Got News for You is so popular?)

  22. Lou says:

oops, i wouldn’t have picked up on the godfather thing until i read the comments – i saw it was gordon brown and read the caption in a scottish accent :S!

  23. Chris says:

Wow, I hate when people write like that…

  24. Tim C says:

It’d be a shame if sumpin should happen to your houses…oh, wait…it did.
I want the banks dead! I want the stock market dead! I want the economy burned to the ground!
    - Robert “DiNero” as Al Capone

  25. Malligant says:

Do you remember, In England, when we used to behead the leaders that pissed us off?

  26. lordofthegadflies says:

OK, it’s Gordon Brown. But it might as well be Henry Paulson or Timothy Geithner, who share the same level of sleaze and “taking ways.”
Just as with our British cousins, we Americans are getting screwed by a lot of highly-educated, but common-sense deficient, t**ts in our government who think they know everything.
