FIRST NANY NANY BOO BOO
Now you too can debate just like Palin! See my link!
No, you can’t debate just like Palin.
Palin can take on both Biden and Ifill and WIN. You can only post silly made-up flowcharts.
If she can, then she should have. Since she didn’t, my conclusion is that she can’t.
nice
Win
I love this flow chart can we use?
Come on everyone. Dogs are just wild wolves.
She didn’t need one.
yeah she made enough of an idiot without one!
Yes, she made Biden an idiot without one, you’re right! But, he helped…
Biden gave contextual answers to 16/18 of the questions that he was asked… Palin gave contextual answers to 2/18 of the questions she was asked. The rest of the time she reverted to colloquial anecdotes, maverick speeches, and energy policy (obviously the topic she’s been coached on for the last 2 months).
The problem with Biden’s answers is that they were all lies or mistakes.
sure ep…. don’t worry….
put on your tinfoil hat and you’ll be ok…
shhhh….. there you are…. all better
PLEASE STOP MAKING FUN OF HER!!!!!!!!!
-points to the dates below the names-
really…i mean..really…
no they actualy were not
Actually, many of Biden’s responses were in fact lies or mistakes. But so were many of Palin’s responses. Click my name for more info.
Any sources on this one GP? I didn’t watch the debate myself so I would be most interested in hearing this source that contradicts everything else I’ve read about the debate.
how very true! OBAMA FOR THE WIN!!!!! WE DONT NEED ANOTHER BUSH!!!!!
Dude!
It was a JOB INTERVIEW.
Do you think you would ever be accepted for a new job if you refused to answer any questions or be polite? What about if you spent your whole time making snarky, demeaning insults to a hard worker who has been on the job for decades? Would you hire someone who clucked and rolled her eyes every time you made a statement that can be checked for honesty by anyone with a computer? She almost never put out an answer that could be checked for voracity. She merely stated redundantly that Joe was wrong and even put words in his mouth frequently. Ife she felt the need to speak for anyone, she should have focused on herself and answered the questions to the best of her ability.
She acted just like every self-important, aloof, cheer-leader “cliquette” that I ever had to put up with in high school. She didn’t have to know anything just as long as she ‘knew” she was better than her opponent.
Gomer and Jamie: Well I was only defending her against the guy above who said she was an idiot, which I don’t believe at all. She did just fine, although I wasn’t all that happy with either of them. It’s funny though that in the CNN polls Biden only got 51 against her 36, which seems kind of low for someone who has only been a Governor for 2 years and recently said she couldn’t remember any names of any news magazines or newspapers! What does that say about Biden?
“was only defending her against the guy above who said she was an idiot, which I don’t believe at all. ”
I don’t like Palin at all, but ema nails this point I think.
“Biden only got 51 against her 36, What does that say about Biden?”
It says he won. If 2000 and 2004 taught us nothing else, we learned that a win is a win is a win. No matter what you have to do to get there.
It doesn’t say anything about Biden, it say’s a lot about the mindless zeal of conservatives.
Thank you. I was just about to say something along the same lines.
Did you notice that meter along the bottom of the screen that was based on Ohio voters? Did you notice how whenever Joe was talking he carried a slight lead amongst women vs the men? Did you also notice how whenever Palin would start speaking the men’s opinion would have a serious spike while the women’s opinion was hitting rock bottom?
I would want a little more than ‘not being an idiot at all’ and ‘doing just
fine’ as the qualities of the potentially most powerful person in this world.
Why do so many people seem to be OK with the fact that you don’t
send Mr. and Ms. ‘Doing Just Fine’ to the olympics, but in (world) politics
they want someone just like themselves?
Yeh, it was an interview. But not with us, who have already made up our minds. It was to swing voters, many if not most of whom are middle or lower middle class white women, not college educated, to whom she was addressing her points.
She scored BIG points by asking up front if she could call him “Joe”–to which he agreed–while he addressed her as Governor all evening. That was a craftily calculated move on her part, making her look like ‘one of us’ to her target audience while Biden, by comparison, looked stilted. That is no criticism of him.
When Palin spoke, she looked at Biden, at the moderator, or at the camera. Right in the eye, every time. When Biden spoke, he *may* have been looking at the audience, but to TV viewers it looked like he was looking at the floor. In any case, he wouldn’t make eye contact. Many women read this as evasiveness and wonder, “What is he hiding?”
Yeah, Biden could roll out the numbers–typical polspeak. I don’t mean to be critical by that, either. But Palin was speaking the language of the people to whom she is appealing, because she has been there.
(BTW, truthfulness is ‘veracity’; I doubt if you meant a ravening appetite.) She spent a good deal of time correcting Biden because he constantly spoke in half-truths. Yeah, she got some wrong, but when she was right she was *all* right. And again, her target audience–the women, remember?–kinda liked seeing the Big Bad White Male get snarked. THEY LIKE HER; THEY DON’T LIKE HIM. And it has nothing to do with what you or I think. It’s PR, and it worked.
I’m a woman – and I can’t stand her. To me, her vaunted “eye contact” with the camera was more of an unsettling, vacant stare while she read her mental teleprompter. She spoke more to the Republican base than to swing voters, I thought. I got tired of her mispronunciations, her ‘cutesy’ defense when she began to stumble, and her over-rehearsed, scripted answers.
But then, that’s just me. Pro-woman, anti-Palin.
Women against Palin… Because Palin is against women…
Women against Palin … because they’re sooo jealous.
What precisely are women supposed to be jealous of – the hatchet face, the outdated hair style, the muscular arms, the tattooed-on lipliner, the dysfunctional family, the the delusions of competence, the eventual long walk back to obscurity? Contempt, pity, sadness for another missed opportunity – I feel anything but jealous.
I don’t agree with EP’s point, at least not to the extent that he believes it, but lets be frank… she’s a lot better looking than most women, more financially secure, has something other than a menial job, and by all accounts has a happier family life than most Americans.
To say there’s nothing to be jealous of just makes you seem very out of touch. And downplaying what she has just makes you look defensive and jealous yourself. A lot of women, and I’m sure plenty of men too, would love to have the things Sarah Palin has. She isn’t filthy rich I guess, compared to most other politicians, but even just being financially secure is more than most Americans have.
By all conventional standards she is extremely successful, and success breeds jealousy. If you say it doesn’t, you’re just plain wrong. If you say she isn’t successful, I’d ask you what standards you’re judging her success against. If we’re honest, there’s a lot for an insecure woman (or even a man) to be jealous about. However, I don’t think thats why most women dislike her. I’m sure most disagree with her for good reasons, rather than simple jealousy.
But the jealousy issue is definitely there. Women and men handle jealousy very differently, guys tend to want to hang out with a more successful guy that they are jealous of hoping to benefit from their success for themselves, women tend to get spiteful and stab each other in the back. If you want to try and say this isn’t true, or is a stereotype, I’d ask you to tell that to the women at every place I’ve ever worked!
While jealousy is not a significant reason for why she has not garnered a lot of support among women (thats largely due to the fact that she is a conservative), to pretend it isn’t there or downplay her accomplishments is just ignorant and reflects poorly on you.
Oh, and for the lady regulars around here like Jane and ema and the others, I’m very interested in your opinion on this, I don’t think I’ve seen much discussion on it. Read my post and tell me if you think I’m off base. Do you think that theres an element of jealousy (however small) that creeps up amongst female voters when it involves an attractive and successful woman? Obviously most women, and most people in general, are above that sort of jealous behavior, but am I imagining the kind of jealous spite that I am seeing on occasion?
That’a a deep subject, I think there is an epidemic of low self esteem in this country affecting both men and women and that can certainly express itself as jealousy. I really can’t say how that may affect support for Palin, I think there is more hatred of her because she doesn’t fit the mold. Women tend to group together for consensus and I believe Palin pisses off a whole group of women by not following the perceived feminst agenda of how a powerful women should think and act.
Right, because I would JUST LOVE to have my daughter’s
unplanned pregnancy splashed over every newspaper in
America, to have a Down’s syndrome baby when I’m in my
forties, and to be a public LAUGHINGSTOCK on SNL. Oh, and
it’s been a lifelong dream of mine to screw away $20 mil
and to sit on my ass while women in the town that I’m
responsible for shell out for their own rape exams. I am sooo
jealous of her hair.
Has even one woman come forward and complained about being charged for a rape kit? You would think that maybe even one would complain about it since I’m sure the media would pay a hefty price for that info to slam her with it. How come this was never an issue before now? Where was the outrage against Palin in Alaska for all these outrageous things she was doing to women? How did she get elected as Governor of the state? Mass hypnosis?
Well ema, why it isn’t gained any mainstream traction, is that it wasn’t her decision. Maybe she was aware of it, maybe she wasn’t, but it was the Police Chief of Wasilla that was doing it. I’d like to think rape wasn’t too common in her community and that she didn’t know it was going on because no one has formally complained. No one knows for sure.
Exactly, but all of a sudden it’s a huge issue, as if people where marching in the streets about it. I have heard it is a common practise to bill the insurance company in many communities but I don’t see any national outcry against it. But every other Palin comment in here is how she personnaly charged women for their own rape kits. I don’t like everything she stands for but these stupid little things push me over the edge sometimes.
It’s just typical dirty politics. She doesn’t have a voting record like Obama, Biden, and McCain, so they have to try and dig up dirt to use against her. The same thing happens to every Governor who runs for President really. When you can’t attack them on the issues, you have to attack them personally or tie them into someone elses failures.
I vaguely remember people digging for dirt when Clinton ran in ’92.
I know you’re right, I just wish they would stick to things with a little more substance instead of these cheap shots. I don’t remember much about when Clinton got elected, was not in the least interested at the time. I do remember being ticked off at the Lewinsky scandal investigations, that was a stupid witch hunt and as ridiculous as this is.
If they billed the insurance company what would have happened to those women without insurance, hmmm?
PK ate my post, but I’m sure it’ll be along eventually so I won’t retype. I did forget to talk about the rape kit thing. I don’t blame Palin for that completely because my understanding is that it was already a practice during her tenure as mayor, not that she came out and said, “Hey guys, let’s charge women for rape kits!” Now I could be wrong about that, but that was my understanding. As for rapes not happening all that much, Alaska has one of the highest percentage of rapes in the country, so I doubt that’s the issue. Now, maybe there hasn’t been any women complaining because their insurance DID pay for it. I for one don’t really even pay attention when I get medical bills, I just scan down to the bottom to make sure insurance is paying for everything, so they may not have even realized it was a charge. Especially since I imagine they had other things on their mind, what with being raped and all.
I didn’t say there was nothing to be jealous of, I was simply pointing out that there was a lot NOT to be jealous of. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder – and I truly don’t think she’s attractive at all. She has sharp features and an irritating voice and the shallow folksy charm just doesn’t help. Is she well off? Yes, but so am I – no jealousy there. Is she successful? She falls into the category of many who are successful more through luck than skill. She is well-suited to Alaska, and no, that’s not a compliment (Ted Stevens was no fluke). I have never had a desire to be famous for its own sake, so again, no jealousy there, although I can see how others, of both sexes, might be jealous of either of those.
There are a lot of Republican women that McCain could have chosen that I would have respected even if I disagreed with them, and if I am jealous of anything, it’s only of that wasted opportunity.
While jealously exists in the world, the tendency of men to automatically accuse women at large of jealousy of a woman that the man considers attractive that other women don’t like, that is genuinely sexist. Give women some credit – when a woman is generally disliked by other women, it’s not because she is pretty or successful or because men like her. It’s usually because she’s a nasty piece of work – unkind, self-centered, and willing to sacrifice others for her own gain. In other words, a Sarah Palin. And if men don’t see her that way, it’s because she is careful to make sure that they don’t see that side.
If you have found the women everyplace you have worked to be spiteful and backstabbing as you said, then I think your sample or your perception is flawed, or perhaps you just saw what you expected to see. Of the many women I have worked with, their one major flaw that held them back from advancement was that they were too nice. The backstabbers were all in upper management, and came in both sexes.
I’d love to work where you work, because it must be an offshoot of Heaven. I’ve seen jealousy over something as simple as one woman getting a compliment for a job well done, and before the month was out she had been forced out of the department by spiteful, petty creatures who couldn’t take good work for what it was and be happy for their fellow woman. I’m not sure where you’re getting the unkind, self-centered, and unwilling to sacrifice vibe from Sarah Palin. She seems very down to earth to me in all the ways that is good, and while most people think that disqualifies her to be VP (she is too down home to understand the government), I think it makes her appeal to the common man (and woman) better than anyone else. I don’t buy it when Biden, Obama, or even McCain spout about the middle class, because none of them have been there in a very long time. If ever. Palin, on the other hand, worked her way up from nothing to become governor of a state. And you’re wrong on another piece of your post. Women HATE other women because they are prettier, more successful, and because men like them. Women are, as a whole, very jealous creatures, andtend to take that out on everyone around them. A man will internalize his frustrations, a woman will go around behind the other woman’s back and make sure that everyone else hates her too.
I didn’t say she was UN-willing to sacrifice. On the contrary, she seems more than willing to sacrifice anyone and anything else to get what she wants – the truth, her family, the environment, all sacrificed on the altar of Sarah Palin.
I can understand that you, and many others, find her likeable, but THIS IS NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST. It’s a job interview, and like her all you want, she’s not qualified.
I don’t know what part of this country lolnation and froufrou live in, but I have been working for 30 years in two different industries, about 70% of my coworkers were female, many of them attractive and successful, and I have NEVER seen the kind of behavior you describe. Women who were disliked were disliked because of their behaviour or if they were incompetent, not for their looks or accomplishments.
You two must live someplace were the culture encourages that kind of nasty behaviour (Texas? the south? redneck nation?) but where people are decent, like the Pacific Northwest, women don’t behave that way. If (and that’s a big if, I suspect you just have axes to grind) women behave like that where you are, blame your culture, because it isn’t that way everywhere.
Okay, I’m not Sarah Palin’s biggest fan, but I sort of agree with FrooFrou in that you must be working in some Sapphic paradise that the women around you are all happy for each other all the time. I have NEVER worked somewhere where their wasn’t some kind of fued going on amongst certain women and for absolutely NO reason. And don’t try and claim that you are so much more educated and enlightened in the Northwest and the rest of us are rednecks because I have lived ALL over this country. I am an elementary school teacher, this is a field that is almost all women, and let me tell you the careers that have almost been ruined over gossip and backstabbing would make you ashamed of our sex. We ladies are harder on ourselves BY FAR than men ever could be.
If neither of you is a swing voter, then I wasn’t talking about you, was I?And talk about scripted responses . . . I bet you thought of that all by yourself, eh?
Biden beat Palin among undecided voters in pretty much every poll I’ve sen, so you’re obviously not talking about that majority either.
None of that’s true. Palin failed with women. It showed on the CBS polls and on the CNN audience meter and every Gallup poll released. Only men like Palin and i think most of those men aren’t thinking with their big head or they’d realize what an idiot she is.
Start paying attention to the polls about a week to two weeks before the actual election. Historically, polls are weighted one way or the other, but they HAVE to get it right that close to an election in order to keep their jobs. It’s like a weatherman who is right only 30% of the time. He damn well better get it right if there is a big storm that hits or he will be selling hot dogs on the street corner the next week. (I’m making up the 30% just to prove a point). Now, I’m not saying that the polls are necessarily right or wrong at this point in the game, but just remember, Kerry and algore were both up by quite a bit at this point in their own campaigns. And they both lost.
“but just remember, Kerry and algore were both up by quite a bit at this point in their own campaigns. And they both lost.” Actually not true. The race was very tight at this point 4 years ago Kerry was down all the way to the finish line. .
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/Presidential_04/chart3way.html
http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2004/Pres/Maps/Oct03.html
There was some really bad exit polling there at the end but Bush held the lead pretty much from Sept on.
2000 was a bizarre year for many many reason but it was a very toght race as well. I cannot find a site with aggregates at this time but here’s a CNN Oct. 8 poll showing Bush up:
http://archives.cnn.com/2000/ALLPOLITICS/stories/10/08/tracking.poll/index.html
So no, at this time 4 and 8 years ago Gore and Kerry were actually not leading.
Not that I am being complacent about a win here but the fact that Obama is pretty far in the lead with 30+ days to go is a good sign for his campaign.
Ops gotta hate that Real Clear Politics. I have seen the Kerry was up so many times its not funny but how quickly it gets shot down~
I might be alone in this, but after her ‘say it ain’t so, Joe’ I got the definite feeling that she asked to call him Joe just to make that remark. Because, as you’ll recall, she called him Sen. Biden most of the time. Purely based on the impression I got from her, and the repetition of that damn energy policy, and the rehearsedness of her lines and her off tone near the end, she didn’t make a good impression on me. Then again, I don’t think my expectations were as low as other people’s.
I am her target audience, I don’t really like her. I absolutely adore Biden, but I don’t know if I adore him enough to vote for his ticket. Then again, the McCain ticket doesn’t appeal to me either. Funny how people keep saying that the VP won’t cause people to vote for one ticket or the other, but in my case it tends to lean that way!
if he had called her Sarah he would have been trashed as demeaning her because she is a woman.
I was appalled at how she glossed right over his emotions when talking about his wife and daughter who passed away and his sons who he was terrified wouldn’t make it. I was also a bit offended by the “yer wife is a school teacher, she’ll get her reward in heaven!” He has one wife in heaven already and his wife is a college professor.
Come on Ema, you were being reasonable the last time we discussed this, don’t get flippant now!
I was just responding to bob, see my response to Gomer and Jamie, and Hi Jane!
Ah ha, now I see. You’re the nicest person on here, I was worried for half a second.
Thanks! But I’m beat by you in the nice department!
Biden wasn’t the one forced to winking and he’s also not the one who got McKiernan’s (or “McCellan” as he’s known to Palin) name wrong repeatedly. Biden was the one who won with uncommitted and women (who vote more).
McPalin’s a joke.
she did better then she’s done in her past interveiws. So she didn’t need a life line.
She actually avoided looking foolish, I thought. She had to do it by not answering the questions they asked and instead answering the questions she asked herself, but other than that, she totally failed to look as dumb as she does standing next to Couric.
http://www.boingboing.net/2008/10/03/palin-debate-prep-fl.html
The bar had been set so low for her (based on her own actions) – that the fact that she managed to remember most of the facts she’d been told to say, and the fact that she managed to put sentences together correctly without senseless garble – this means she won the debate????
Has the US really reached a point where a VP candidate being able to put sentences together correctly is enough?
We elected Bush twice and you have to ask that question? Seriously?
We didn’t even ask THAT much of Dan Quayle. Sorry to be depressing, but what IS it with the GOP and halfwit VP’s?
What is it with the Democrats and halfwit Presidents?
Like Bush?
I thought he was one of yours?
Yeah she just talked in circles like she always does!~ The bimbo from the north!
As opposed to a sexist, racist piece of garbage such as yourself? Yeah. I looked at your “blog.” Maybe you’d care to enlighten everyone on your views of Asians and women? Not to mention you don’t even bother to check the spelling on that filth you post on your “blog.”
When I first read it I did a double take at the part that said your view “leans to the left”. Looks more like a mix of bile from both extremes of the spectrum to me.
Nice burn, lolnathan. Kudos!
Yay!!
Ok. I don’t know anything about Great Lake Boy, but just because you don’t like Sarah Palin (sp?) doesn’t bean your sexist…. it means you understand how much of an idiot she is.
Oh disliking Palin isn’t sexist, not even close. But referring to her as a “stupid c*nt” or “retarded b*tch” every other sentence is the very definition of sexist. Plus in the context of the rest of his blog and other things he has said you can infer that he is beyond hateful.
Right Arm! (hee)
On my Profile page, which no one seems to be able to see, I say that I avoid doing business with people who cannot spell what they do. GLB would be at the very toppest of mah list. Plus what LN said.
Well, technically that’s true I suppose. But in reality those terms used to describe males have become so commonplace that they really don’t mean anything more than any other insult. But a male who continuously describes women that he does not like or agree with using those terms is definitely being a nasty sexist. The sexism comes in with context and where and how the terms are used.
You don’t know anything but you assume a lot~
Where did I say anything bad about Asians ass wipe~ Far as sexist I was Hillary supporter!
Nice try! FAIL!
“rice ride” perhaps? A derogatory term for cars made in Japan and mainland Asia.
Has nothing to do with Asian people. Keep trying!
You could always use terms like ‘foreign made car’ instead. Because that even gets to include European cars, which (like cars from Asia) are manufactured outside the US and provide jobs only for people outside the US (that is your problem with ‘rice rides’ isn’t it?).
Well there are more problems than that just that. I don’t recommend buying sauerkraut rides either or big 3 made out side the US either. The problem is nothing is made here any more by American companies now days or if it is you are going to pay up the wazoo to get American made. I think we need to get back to supporting our own interest. It’s just the Asian made are what 99% of the foreign cars. Anyways it has nothing to do with race.
Caption fail.
While she didn’t hit it out of the park, she hit at least a triple to Biden’s single.
Sir, I’m going to have to ask you to hand over the crack.
Which one?
The crack in his statement or the one in his head?
Oh OOPS!
You meant drugs!
Dude, the only drug a person needs to hold that opinion is holy self-righteousness.
Rock on ideologues! American Taliban, COMING SOON!
Looks like you’re the one on drugs.
What are you taking to make you so delusional?
Liberalism is a mental disorder.
No, idiocy is. You seem to have a severe case.
Did you just call EP a liberal? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
It’s like pacman, once you get far enough to the right, you end up back on the left.
Ability to read up through the thread FAIL.
She did better than I expected, but Biden still won the debate. There really isn’t any doubt on that.
Oh, by the way: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/factchecking_biden-palin_debate.html. Palin was far more mileading than Biden and flat-out lied on a number of occasions. The worst one was probably when she said the US is “now down to pre-surge levels in Iraq” when we are actually still 14,000 soldiers above pre-surge levels. If that’s not a total lie, please tell me what is.
This is.
“1. TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.
2. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.
[NOTE to the McCain campaign quick response team: Ahmadinejad.]
3. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.
4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of its passage.
5. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.
6. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.
7. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people’s health insurance coverage — they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false
8. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska — she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it’s not a windfall profits tax.
9. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.
10. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation — he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.
11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.
12. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.
13. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.”
14. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won’t pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.”
Just a thought- but in a previously supplied link, the first item was re-researched and found to be accurate by the writers of the fact check article. Biden was referring to a procedural vote, and yes, they BOTH voted for it. (scroll to the bottom where they added this comment: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/factchecking_biden-palin_debate.html). So item one in your list is inaccurate.
The diplomatic meetings are much more complex then this and most of the MSM media want them to be, but you are correct- that was said. THink this arguemnt is silly- but you are correct.
Drilling is also complicated- and with changing times and informaiton, it is only appropriate for adult rational thinkers to adjust opinions. I still think it is silly- but many Americans like to think it will help them now (and probably will since a large portion of the price of oil is psychology not reality)—but yes, he said both things.
Troop funding- both have voted both ways- in the end both voted for the funding of the troops- and in the earlier bills, the reasons they might have voted differently is, again complicated- our political system is not black and white- it would be nice if all of the voters would remember that instead of blindly rooting for their team… but sure, again, you are right,
Coal- definitely- Biden is just being silly when he tries to claim this was out of context…he definitely opened mouth and inserted foot
Alternative energy- yes, he only actually voted specifically against it 11 times, the other times, he just did not vote for it.
You cannot one minute use FactCheck.org to support you and ignore it when it does not- all analysis have McCain’s health care plan caosting MANY amounts of money- this is wrong
You may be correct about the windfall taxes- but Pailn herself was fine with this characterization of her actions- at least she did not say anything to correct it
Surge is a joke- it was a political ply all around- separate the semantics (we have had more troops in Iraq at different times than the “surge” had, and the working with the tribal leaders was in place for months before the “surge”- and I fault the dems for calling it that- I hate the war, but the CIC has every right to deploy how ever many troops he and his staff deem needed to a war etc- that whole things was stupid.
Regulation- he may have called for it, but he did not VOTE for it….
IRAQ- yep- Iraq you may be right- I recall Biden being ok with much of that- but he also questioned much of it…complex issue- where niether can be said to be “dead wrong”, as nothing is black and white- so I think that you can be thought of as correct on this, in a simple world.
Tax Increases- I think you may be correct- however I believe that the increas on that small portion would be less than under McCain if I recall the fact check pages…so again, not as simple as we would like
Bailout- I cannot comment- too fast, too stupid, not working (it might, but not today)…socialism for big finance is ok, but not for children’s health care- I am at a loss to explain the bx of the entire spectrum of Rep-Dem…so no comment- that whole thing makes me sad.
Reagan tax rates…hmmm I think that they may be right- but what rate are they speaking of and what rate are you- 1980 or 1988???? again, not so simple…
I like Palin but I voted for this one just because it made me laugh. I-I-I guess I’m a bad Republican. *Stumbles over to the corner to sob himself to sleep*
Hell, the whole McCain campaign could use a lifeline.
The whole McCane campagin could use a LIFE!
McCane? Is he made of sugar?
No, it’s to help him walk. You know, because he’s so (wait for it….. wait for it….) OLD!!!!!!
Dog gone it~ She gussied up and headed into town to the big shing ding~
Geesh I guess I am not into podunks~ Had enough of that the last 8 years!
The Obama campaign already HAS a lifeline… 98% of the media making Obama look like a superhero.
And only a majority of voters ready to vote for him.
Oh wait, unless you are a white male. Are you?
I am, but I am in the minority of voters in that block.
White men aren’t supposed to be voting for Obama? I guess I better switch to to 4 more years of the same failed policies and vote for McBush~
It’s all about identity. If you have a penis and white skin, you’re supposed to be voting for McCain! It is because so many people don’t realize this that McCain is perpetually grouchy.
No way voting for 4 more years of the same.
If it weren’t for the media acting as Obama’s campaign machine, he’d be nowhere.
Of if Bush hadn’t ran us into a ditch Obama would be all done too! But thanks to GW Bush and the great economy he has created with not just one but two stimulus packages, and big tax breaks to the rich, we are in economic collapse~
Either we have to take it! GOBAMA!
and the congress agreed and it is full of Democrats
Sadly I think that the messianic quality will actually make his first weeks in office (if elected) more difficult. The whole world, and esp Americans, have started to believe that everything they see as wrong (whether you agree that they are wrong or not), will magically be set right if only he is in office- but it takes a long time to fix things that are broken. If you believe that our country is not heading in the right direction- it will still take time to get it on track after the election- I only hope pp realize this…
And 98% of the media does not love him- how can it when over 50% is owned by Mr. Republican Natl Committee Rupurt Murdoch???? That makes not logical sense…And Murdoch is not known for his hands off approach to his outlets…
With that said- occasionally the media has been too easy on Obama…as they have been on McCain, and Palin, and too hard on him at others, and on the Clintons, Bush Sr, etc (I think they are too soft on Bush Jr- they never said BOO about him until 2 years ago). The media is biased- use your critical thinking skills to figure out the bigger picture and decide what you like—and read/listen to non-American sources occasionally- it is really quite enlightening
yet she somehow managed to mop the floor with Biden…interesting…
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!
Oh wait, were you being serious?
Denial, not just a river in Egypt.
Surely you are living proof of that. Unless you’re a bot. Jury’s still out on that one…
A noun, a verb, and ZOMG THOSE EEEEEEVIL LIBERALS.
Oh please. There is no need to rip off SNL now. At least be original.
You beat me to it, Christine.
this was funny on SNL. negative seven points for originality.
Ever noticed that all the women who dislike her are horrific looking? Really look at these broads. Classic ugly vs Beautiful. Fat vs Skinny. Fat girls always hate the skinny ones…Just like here with the Gov Palin issue. Ugly women hate her because she is freakin hott and they are not. Who is that dude on MSNBC, you know the one with the little boy haircut???? Ah yes, Rachel Maddow. Look at the broads on the View, OMG one looks like a stuffed pig, one has not washed, let alone changed her hair style since the 80′s. AND WHEN WAS SHE EVER A SLAVE??? HER great grandparents may have been but SHE NEVER WAS. SORRY, not going to feel sorry for you. Rosie O`Fatdonnel, half of Hollywood is so jacked up on drugs, their brain is fried. Besides, like high gas prices will affect them anyway. All of you that keep saying Obama sponsored a bill for this or that…I LMFAO, you see just because Nextel sponsored NASCAR doesn’t mean they know everything that goes on into making a car win a race. Think about it. Oh, look here….Ditech is sponsoring this site…DO YOU THINK THEY KNOW EVERYTHING THAT GOES ON HERE? When it comes to abortion…DEMOCRATS shouldn’t be allowed to reproduce anyway.
Oh dear.
Please, tell everyone how you really feel, don’t hold anything back at all. While you’re busy doing that, I’ll go make you a sammich.
Someone get me a putty knife to scrape the vitriol from my eyes.
This kind of crap makes responsible Republicans look bad……*sigh*
tl;dr version: “Women scare me so I hates them!”
So that’s why you hate Sarah Palin.
I don’t hate her, I feel sorry for her.
I feel sorry for us, should the highly improbable happen and her ticket win. Small chance of that, though. (My name. Click it.)
You hate and fear her.
I hate her and fear her.
-
I hate what she plans for the country and I FEAR her getting the power she seems to crave.
-
I hate her intolerance (though she claims she doesn’t judge) and I fear her blind assertions that she is ready to assume the VP office and to add powers to it for god’s sake.
-
I hate her use of “feminine wiles” while her campaign decries liberal sexism (ALL of the conservative hosts are in raptures over her looks … Biden called her attractive once and he is a sexist) I fear the fact that she really seems to think a wink and a smile will get her through world leader talks.
-
I hate that she seems so unread and undereducated and I fear the message this will send to the world if they get elected.
-
I hate her claims to be a feminist when she clearly uses her looks and her “little girl charm” to get ahead where her credentials fail her. And I fear that if she takes National Office she will become a standard for our daughters to emulate.
-
I want the first woman P or VP to be educated (not journalism school that took 6 years and 5 schools to complete) I want her to be savvy, smart, eloquent, commanding BETTER PREPARED than any male candidate because she will need to be better in order to be treated the same.
-
McCain and Palin don’t support equal pay for women, is Palin willing to accept 77% of what Cheney was paid?
-
I want a president and VP that were in the tops of their classes in GOOD schools. I want a history of dedication and hard work leading to a goal. I want to tell my kids that if they study and work hard they can be president and not hear “well, it looks like I only need passing grades and a cute wink”
-
What is so wrong with that?
Typical hate-filled Liberal response: using reason to back up your opinions.
Can I make a “Former Runway Models Against Sarah Palin” sign? Because I know lots. And we’re ALL a lot prettier than she is, and most of us are smarter.
Modest, too.
Ain’t immodest if it’s true.
How can I fear someone who’s obviously in way over her head?
u men ppl should really STOP saying women scare u cuz we already know that and it hurts our fellers ok??/
I can’t wait for this election to be over, regardless of the outcome.
Did anyone notice how Slow-Joe Biden’s forehead never moved? And he has very few wrinkles ?
BOTOX!!!!!!
Check out my page and my LOLz
There is one there that totally fits, hehe.
Who knew she was a fan of SKA, too. Well, that changes my mind right there!
Good LOL
God bless SNL.
The farther the McCain number tank the nastier the family values crowd gets~
Odd- every single on line survey I’ve seen or participated in shows McCain way out in front. ALL of them ,on AOL and others.
Those self-selecting on-line polls are highly unscientific. They will have a bias for a certain population. People tend to gravitate to sites where their views are upheld. So it wouldn’t surprise me that there are some sites where they see big leads for McCain because the people who frequent those sites tend to have similar views. The fact that every survey you have viewed or participated in says one things does not mean that thing is true for the general population. You’d have to discount a lot of scientifically run polls that show the exact opposite of your proposition. Not entirely outside the realm of possibility mind you. Just very, very unlikely.
OTOH, the networks *tell* you that they take more samples from people who say they are going to vote Dem, then present the slanted results as News. Accuracy FAIL.
Vitriol aside, who knows where there are some publicly-available reliable numbers?
If there is a bias ( and AOL is VERY antiMcCain) is it that intelligent people know how to use the internet ?
Yes, yes, you are so smart because you can use AOL. Ye gods! Is calling people stupid because they disagree with you really your best argument? Dispute my contention, as QBQ does. THAT I can respect. But no, you just insult people. Jeebus. That’ll show me.
Rasmussen samples more Dems? Really? Since when? And Fox (whoe uses their polling data) slants their news to the Left? WTF?! I know, Karl Rove slants his news to the Left! http://www.rove.com/election Wow! Who knew?
Don’t know what happened to my earlier reply. And if it shows up I apologize for the snarkiness. I disagree with the premise that these polls are all over sampling Dems. Rasmussen certainly isn’t and Fox, who uses their polling data, certainly is not slanting this to the Left. And Karl Rove’s site uses the same polling data as all of the other aggregating sites does and they are showing Obama with an advantage. The aggregating of polls helps to reduce the bias that each pollster so that you get a more accurate picture. It worked pretty well in 2004 and even better in the mid-term elections of 2006.
I can’t offer you a single site you’re likely to think is reliable if you really think the polls we’re seeing out biased toward Dems, but at least check out Real Clear Politics and Pollster.com
How do you explain the Obama lead on Fox News polls?
So what’s the reason you’re so nasty, Leftard Boy?
According to a blurb on his blog, he stopped smoking 3 years ago. Guessing from his sexist rants that his wife or girlfriend (if he ever had one) probably left him too. I could be wrong and maybe I’m reducing him to a stereotype, but that’s no worse than what he does, so… yeah.
Obsessive compulsion disorder?
Y’know, as the (supposed) paragon of the party that (supposedly) supports developmentally disabled children, you throw the “‘tard” insult around a lot. Why is that? Are you trying to prove that the Republicans aren’t trying to use Trig Palin as a poster child by shoving him and those like him to the bottom of the genetic barrel?
Stay classy.
Good call herb! I surely hope you didn’t offend anyone with any special needs children! Still trying to figure out how I am sexist but hey what ever works fopr you and you get a couple woot woot from your cronies I guess its’ cool~
Herb’s a liberal dumbass, which would mean you ARE one of his cronies. Would you just stop posting already, you’re embarrassing yourself and making our side look bad.
Well, actually Herb has his five party system (either him or DWN, but I’m pretty sure it’s herb), but I’m assuming he’s more liberal than conservative based on his comments on the board.
Wait a second, are you saying “Herb is a liberal, dumbass” or “Herb is a liberal dumbass”?
Sorry, you are correct, I forgot the comma, guess that REALLY changed my meaning! Sorry Herb!
Is there a difference?
j/k
Biden made a ton more gaf’s than Palin yet there is not one posting on that idiot.
That might be because Biden actually attempted to answer the questions, whereas Palin stuck to pre-rehearsed lines. For which I’m thankful, actually, because that debate could have been a bloodbath on both sides.
I believe the word you meant to post is “gaff”. Even then, there is no need to put an apostrophe in the word. Who is the idiot now?
The only way Mr. T would use the word ‘gaff’ is if he were referring to hooking a fish. Otherwise, he’d be using the word ‘gaffe’, which is a social blunder. Click the name for more.
GMTA
Hehehe, and I bet this guy will never admit he screwed up trying to correct someone else. *gives lolnathan a high five*
That girl who tried to correct my spelling of Ahmadinejad’s name actually came back to say I was wrong again. Maybe this guy will attempt to defend his incorrect spelling too. That’s be great fun.
Oh no, the horrible spelling is rubbing off on me. “That’s” should be “that’d”
Accidental typing fail and riding the short bus on a daily basis are two different things
I believe you are the idiot now sir. It’s “gaffe.”
SNL did it better.
I can has ripoff of existing joke that Tina Fey did last week!
way to steal SNL jokes.
we’re dealing with POLITICIANS here, folks. did you really expect anything but lies and mistakes?
