I was very irritated by her constant incorrect pronunciation of the word nuclear. Yes, people in different areas say words in different ways…that’s a fact. What struck a nerve was the fact that our great country has been embarrassed for 8 years by a bumbling idiot and hearing her say that word the same as “Dubya” was like nails on a chalkboard. We do not need another 4 years of embarrassment for this country which is what she represents. Should anything happen to McCain, she is so completely and utterly incompetent for the position she would fill. We need someone who is intelligent and represents what this country can be again, which is the greatest country in the world.

Not to take sides here, but I’d like to point out that Eisenhower, Clinton, and Carter were all known to use the “Nuke-yoo-lar” pronunciation (among other notable people) – and Carter was a farking nuclear reactor Engineer. If Bush and Palin were the only notable people to pronounce it that way, it’d be one thing; but as much as it bugs me (and I really do hate it when people use the incorrect pronunciation), you’re going to have to include Carter, Clinton, et al in your “stupid people” list if using the incorrect pronunciation indicates stupidity.

The point is not that she’s saying it improperly. The point is that she, like McCain, are proposing another four years of failed Bush policies. Pronouncing Nuclear the same W does, just reinforces the fact that McCain/Palin are just like Bush/Cheney – awful for our country and our standing in the world.

Even more common, I find, is to refer to the drinks individually; Coke, Fanta, Pepsi, Solo, lemonade etc.

There is one correct way to pronounce “nuclear”

It is NOT “nucular.”

There is not a second ‘u’ sound in the word.
