Russia and the US were never officially at war with each other, that I know of. In fact, this was specifically avoided.
In fact, it is considered to be one of the many reasons why we lost Vietnam, because US forces weren’t allowed to attack Soviet supply ships (at least for most of the war).

So yes, there was intelligence, counter intelligence and other forms of espionage. But there was not war.

The US was already on the way out of the depression by 1933. War helped, but wasn’t the only thing.
Germany needed the war preparations to bring back their economy, but most of the world recovered well enough without.

Maybe, maybe not. I’d rather have the public works programs anyway… a lot of dams and other useful improvements got built that way. We can’t just let people starve in the streets (I’m an agnostic and have better morals than that, so step up Christians!!), so if we’re going to pay them we ought to get something for our money!

Although some things are the same (bursting of a government policy induced bubble with tremendous effects on the bank), thank god there are some real differences. Thanks to the insights of Milton Friedman, the banks get a lot of liquidity. And, referring to this picture, there is no mass-unemployment.
If it were, Hussein and Lieberman would have a 95% lead over McCain and Plain.
