With all due respect, I have not heard of any serious threats by anyone actually working with the democratic party, and the only election vote squabbling that has been happening in this election is taking place between Franken and Coleman in Minnesota. As for Ayers, he and Obama had only the most cursory of relationships. Your claim that Ayers was Obama’s “mentor” is ridiculous. I might also mention that since his days as a terrorist, Bill Ayers has been working on elementary school education theory, and he was named Chicago’s person of the year in 1997. He’s not some sort of maniac bent on the destruction of the united states. The only thing he opposed was the war in Vietnam.

Although I tend to be very liberal, and although I agree with the democrats’ positions on most issues (with only a couple exceptions), I understand what you are saying. It particularly disturbed me when I once read a story about a college graduate (in Nevada?) who was delivering a speech before her student body, and whose microphone was cut off when she attempted to thank God for helping her through college. I do not personally believe in God; but I think it is an outrage that she was forbidden her right to declare her own beliefs. I have heard of many other similar incidents, such as a convention somewhere in Canada where representatives of Islam and Judaism were allowed to read passages from their scriptures, but not the representative of Christianity, and despite my own status as an unbeliever, I can’t help but be a little disgusted by these stories.

As for intelligence, I really hate to say this, but I tend to notice ignorance more on the part of conservatives than on the part of liberals. I do not believe that there aren’t intelligent conservatives in the united states, but I do believe that there are a great deal of ignorant or bigotted people who find it easier to be conservative than to be liberal.

I do agree with the republicans on at least a few issues; and sometimes I wonder why the democrats take certain stances. For example, I am a supporter of the right to bear arms; and I can’t understand why the democrats seem to oppose this. I also don’t understand how the practice of abortion is protected by the right to privacy. As for the school voucher program
plan, I think that the democrats haven’t given the idea a fair chance; it is not necessarily a breach of the separation of church and state, as far as I can see.

Still, some of the stances of the republican party seem to be motivated not by a desire to run a country smoothly and fairly, but by a desire to promote injustice and violations of freedom. For example, I believe that religious organizations have every right to deny the sacrament of marriage to people whose lifestyles are contrary to their tenets, but I feel that it is wrong for the state to refuse, on the basis of sexuality, recognition of civil unions. Also, I was particularly infuriated by Mike Huckabee (and other republicans) who supported the “FairTax” program plan, which would effectively be a tax on the poor. I was relieved when McCain was chosen as their nominee, since he seemed to be the only one who opposed that plan. I am a lover of the progressive tax schema which is currently in place.

In short (TLDR):

A. I agree that Christians are discriminated against by those who are obsessed with being politically correct, and that there is a general misconception among these people that racism against white people is inoffensive.

B. I do feel, however, that the base of the republican party in the united states suffers more from the influences of ignorance and hate than that of the democratic party.

Actually we don’t even have a free market. It’s a managed/regulated market. We HAD a free market up until about 1890 or so, when the government enacted anti-trust laws and etc. because the robber barons were screwing everyone. Now, THAT could be considered socialism. So could the SEC, FDA, Social Security, ADA, etc. I don’t see anyone whining about them. And yes, McCain’s buyout of mortgages is socialistic as well. Anybody ever heard the words ‘smear’ or ‘buzzword’?

According to that video, “seperate but equal” is still in cases that the conservative supreme court is upholding.

The difference here is we are roasting someone who directly

I’m sorry: I was unaware that it had been proven that Dan Rather himself falsified the documents. I was under the impression that he based his news report on evidence that had not been fully investigated — which I admit is sloppy — but that no-one had to fact-check the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth group is quite hypocritical.
