Hey Bob, I think we’re gonna get fired.
Who is that in the picture? Tell us in the Comments
picture: dunno source, via our lol builder. lol caption: jbudeit
I`m not gonna say “first”, because you can tell by the position of my comment, and I`m not gonna say it`s fake, because everyone knows already.
Now write some creative comments.
A. You’re wit is not that great.
B. Obvious it is set up.
C. It is already in meh humor since it is a crappy prop gag. However, the soldiers need their fun so I am just going to begrudge the captioner.
D. How about you post something creative first instead of metanonsense.
Yeah true enough. They have to get kicks somehow. If only the brutal torture of Abu Ghraib was still secret
Brutal torture?? Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaambulance is on the way.
You need to understand the tone that accompanies sarcasm.
Hay my friend mr_angry_Fascist, how did I know you would be here…
Aw, come on. Mindless didn’t deserve that much crap. He/she at least *tried* to be creative.
Perhaps my issue is being told to be creative by a person being pretentious.
“You’re” wit is not that great? For shame, Wyrm. For shame.
Ya, I’m tired. I will fess up to that bit of fail.
The really annoying thing is I remember typing this right the first time. Gah, I need caffeine today.
Actually, despite what you said you weren’t going to say, you said both “first” and “fake”. So you managed to contradict yourself and fail at the same time. Very efficient.
My question is, what do you have to do in order to have to be terminated (fired) in this manner?
If the answer is not: ‘Participate in an illegal war’, it should be.
(But hey, they were only following orders right?)
Don’t blame the soldiers. Most soldiers come from working class poor backgrounds that leave them very few options. Soldiers are trained to follow orders, but comparing our men in uniform to the Nazis who ran the death camps is a little over the top. Yes there are abuses, yes there is wrongdoing, but it is not our official policy to exterminate an entire ethnic group, so the comparison falls a little short. Focus on the folks who give the orders. The soldiers are just regular guys like you and me who got screwed by the system and the people in power. Cut them some slack.
First of all: I see no difference between the Coalition of the Willing invading Iraq, and Germany Invading Poland. I despise both because of what they did.
And are you honestly going to sit there and tell me you see no similarity between Abu Ghraib and a Death Camp? Is there not even a slight similarity? Both soldiers made the excuse of only following orders. The only difference? this time, is that we’ve seen that play before, and it isn’t going to work again.
If a soldier cannot tell the difference between a ‘legal war’ (if such a thing even exists) and an illegal one, then they really are worthy of my contempt.
Second, if they had a problem with their orders, why not refuse to serve like those true patriots who refused to go to Vietnam? No I’ll think I’ll stick to my comment unappologetically.
My mistake, you already conceded the point about abuses. My bad.
Stick with whatever you like, I’m being pragmatic, and blaming the soldiers doesn’t do squat except make you feel superior to someone else. Specifically, it does not, will not, and has never changed anything, least of all the way we wage wars.
I blame everyone.
Blame yourself then and STFU
Yeah. Cause its my fault the Coalition launched an illegal war? Or that US troops tortured innocent Iraqi civilians? I think not. Pay attention!
Stop lying.
Stop failing.
Yeah! Stop!
F**k you cause I did. Oh yes, its true. My Member of Parliament, for the lead up to the war in Iraq was infact the British Armed Forces Minister Adam Ingram. And at a constituency meeting, I got him to sit down, look me in the eye and tell me he thought the war was just.
I also participated in this March. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2765041.stm
Poor fuzzy. Should have checked your facts before you mouthed off.
Are you on crack, how can he check fact on what you do.
Thank you for making my point for me. He should not assume anything.
No wait just a minute. You said it was MY fault. As in ME, and not someone else. And now suddenly I am to be the exception that proves your point? Can you make up your mind please? Thanks.
No. It was in reference to the fact you thought I didn’t care enough to protest. Admit it.
And because I have joined a protest march and spoken to my MP that means I do have the right to complain here. After all, those were your words right?
If you want to make a difference march on Washington and do demonstrations like they did durring Vietnam and better yet write/call your member of Parliament, your senator and congress person so they know where you stand. OTHERWISE you cease to have a right to complain because you have succumbed to apathy
So whats the problem?
After all, do you think the friends and family of innocent Iraqi, Afgan or Palestinian people who are killed or beaten up see a difference between the commander and the commanded?
They don’t. Neither do I.
“see no similarity between Abu Ghraib and a Death Camp?”
In the DEATH camps people where systematically exterminated. In Abu Ghraib people where striped naked and put on dog leashes. You are stupid!
Are you saying one persons life lost in the nazi death camps was worth more than one persons life lost to American imperialism in Abu Ghraib?
To my knowledge no one died at Abu Ghraib. But if that is true, you are compering one accidental death from mistreatment to the policy of systematically slaughter of millions of people because of there ethnicity, political beliefs, religion.
Nice swerving of my question. You should be a politician.
Oh really?
From Wikipedia:
“It was discovered that one prisoner, Manadel al-Jamadi, died as a result of abuse, a death that was ruled a homicide by the military.”
“A former military intelligence officer with experience at Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib alleges (see external link – “Cooks and drivers…”) a systematic failure caused by a combination of inexperienced troops arresting innocent Iraqis, who are then interrogated by inexperienced interrogators determined to break these apparent hard cases. The U.S. military’s interrogation techniques and treatment of prisoners at Abu Ghraib are consistent with its treatment of noncombatants in past conflicts, including for example in Vietnam (see Phoenix Program) and with its training of military personnel of U.S. allies (see School of the Americas).”
“On December 21, 2004, the American Civil Liberties Union released copies of FBI internal memos they had obtained under the Freedom of Information Act concerning alleged torture and abuse at Guantanamo Bay, in Afghanistan and in Iraq. One memo dated May 22, 2004 was from someone whose name was blanked out but was described in the memo as “On Scene Commander – Baghdad”.[66] He referred explicitly to an Executive Order that sanctioned the use of extraordinary interrogation tactics by U.S. military personnel. The methods explicitly mentioned as being sanctioned are sleep deprivation, hooding prisoners, playing loud music, removing all detainees’ clothing, forcing them to stand in so-called “stress positions”, and the use of dogs. The author also claimed that the Pentagon had limited use of the techniques by requiring specific authorization from the chain of command. The author identifies “physical beatings, sexual humiliation or touching” as being outside the Executive Order. This was the first internal evidence since the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse affair became public in April 2004 that forms of abusive coercion and torture of captives had been mandated by the President of the United States.”
I am sure the (Nazis/President) would have authorised more killings if they hadn’t (lost the war/been found out) *Delete as appropriate*
Torture Policy WIN!
So you are compering a group of rogue solders that caused an accidental death from mistreatment to the policy of systematically slaughter of millions of people because of there ethnicity, political beliefs, religion.
OK just so we are straight on this…
mr_angry_Fascist FAIL!
Don’t you get it? They were no rogue soldiers. They were doing the presidents bidding.
They were following the policy laid down by the President.
I’m talking about people. You can talk about numbers if you want.
And children were raped in front of their parents, and people (well, at least one) were hung by their wrists for days, while a beating was applied to the thighs repeatedly. Eventually, after the muscles in the legs had been turned to hamburger, a blood clot worked it’s way clear and administered the coup de gras.
So, yeah, no showers, but a big 0 out of 10 for humanitarian restraint.
The scariest thing about the “I was only following orders” excuse? The Milgram experiment. We like to think we’re better than that…but we’re probably not.
Ya it is scary, people should think about what they would do in that
situation before it happens.
Illegal? The Congress voted to give the President authority to invade Iraq
(I don’t like the fact that Congress is passing off there constitutional
responsibility to declare war). and NO I don’t want to hear U.N. this,
League of Nations that bull shit.
Oh I’m sorry. I forgot. Congress makes the rules, and everyone else obeys. My bad.
In your country, yes parliament is the final say on your “Constitution” so what ever they say is law no mater what as long as the voting rules and etc. are not not broken. But in the U.S. we have a real Constitution that Congress can not just change at there whim. And under the U.S. Constitution the Congress has authority to declare war.
matter*
I am not happy about the legality of the war either in the UK or the US. Huh… I think we can perhaps agree on something? :O
So… You do agree the war was legal….
No
I’m not sure what country mr_angry lives in, but in Australia (with its parliamentary system), the constitution can only be changed by referendum.
Any guesses as to how many people aren’t going to get the (slightly awesome) pun in this picture?
The answer: most of the above(yourself not included, of course).
I got it. speak for yourself.
You weren’t above! ok, at least not when I wrote that. Hello, btw.
Probably zero. Libbies have no sense of humor.
Sure we do. *ahem*
How many conservatives does it take to form a well-reasoned cohesive argument?
…
When it happens, we’ll let you know! *ba-dum ching*
How many conservatives does it take to screw in a light bulb?
–
Trick question, conservatives screw in airport bathrooms.
Bravo! I haven’t heard that one before!
Or in doctor’s offices where they conceive their children while the doctor is out of the room on an errand.
….
Wait, what?
How many liberals does it take to screw in a light bulb?
====
Just two, but god knows how they got in there.
Do you want me to explain it to you?
No explanation needed. I’m a heartless right-winger, rather than a brainless leftie.
Wow, the trolls are losing steam, aren’t they? Poor babies…
You should talk spellling nazy…
Nazi? Did somebody ask to talk about my wang?
In…. never mind
Military votes 68% for McCain, 23% for Obama ! Yeah !!!!!
this statistic is from what source? There were “Veterans for Obama” and “McCain votes against veterans” signs at the RNC. I watched the footage of the security trying to usher them out. It was part of the coverage televised on PBS.
The real question is, what percentage of the military resides in each state, and will that percentage be enough to tip the scales for McCain in the states he needs? The answer is: probably not.
Yeah, I know, I just think the number’s aren’t that one-sided, even if they do lean that way. You’re right about it not making a difference. There are a lot of veterans groups speaking out against McCain though and these guys usually don’t want to acknowledge that.
Such statistics would only worry me if servicemen outnumbered those with common sense. Luckily for us, the two are mutually exclusive.
Let me guess- you got rejected from the armed services, huh? Failed the pych exam? TOO BAD. Suck it up, and go back to your bridge, troll! Or better yet, improve yourself, and be less of a crotchwaffle. Your choice, as always.
I’ve never been called a troll before! I’m so happy I could cry. They should make a celebration card for it.
Call 1-800-HALLMARK and suggest it.
Seriously though, you know what the only difference between a soldier and a suicidal person is? Anyone? No? Let me tell you then.
The soldier thinks their death will mean something. The suicidal person is under no such illusion.
Actually suicidal people have many illusions about their death. Don’t claim to know what odd things go through our heads.
I wrote a long diatribe one what an asshat you are for generalizing all military people as basic mindless drones but you are not worth it. And I speak from being in a military family with a son and a fiancee serving in Iraq right now who do NOT mindlessly follow orders.
I’m sure you are very proud *yawn*
Why don’t you come out of your little gun free zone in England and say that to her fiancee and sons face?…
I’m being serious here. You raised a killer. Congrats.
Oh, and I don’t go to America because I am enjoying civilization so much.
keep telling your self that eurotrash
I will. And I will continue to enjoy the benefits of enlightened gun, and health care policies.
You mean high rates of stabbing crimes and the waiting list to git treated for them…
A stabbing is rarely as fatal as a bullet wound. And often much less traumatic. And as for waiting lists, thats a small price to pay for guaranteed health care without worrying about any bullshit from an in insurance company.
Sadly it is people like him that allowed people like Hitler, Stalin and others to take over and do the horrible things they did. “Let me just sit here and spout nonsense to people who can do nothing about it and maybe it will go away” Of course in his mind, there would never be wars if it weren’t for people joining the service and being willing to fight or not fight, what ever the case may be. Never in the history of the world have wars been started because one country or leader wants more land. That would NEVER happen. Peace is an ingrained part of humanity and we are all good down deep without an evil bone in any body. Ugh
Rude, untrue, and pointless
Click my name. That is all.
Man, what kind of crazy hazing is this??!?!?
I gave it five Abes, btw because I laughed out loud. So, there, Scot Z.
It’s a funny lol. Not everything has to be a debate.
That was my reaction. It made me giggle. I love puns, and this is a punny LOL.
Due to the high cost of aircraft fuel, we can no longer fly in paratroopers. Instead we’ve decided to try a new route. Laser guided soldier missiles.
Sounds like my sex life but without the lasers.
That is a LOL right there, DWN.
I will get right on it.
DAMN this is just a simple good lol. It’s got that wide-eyed happy effect that just makes you say LOL 8D
God, I LOVE stupid puns.
Okay, first of all for all the people who have been arguing the last 5 feet of internet paper (?). I want you to sit down, rub your earlobes, and say goosfrabba. Then realize we all have belly buttons and that some things aren’t fair in this world.
Except for the belly buttons.
We all got one. Or at least had one. Whatever.
Secondly: As silly as this photo is, it’s not the stupidist (spellcheck) thing I’ve seen in the last 3 years of service. Hell, I myself am credited with dropping a TOW missle (there were 7 other guys helping carry it but I got credited with dropping it.
I think it’s funny.
Why Bob Robertson of course!
Messing with a Sea Sparrow SAM launcher? Gonna get fired in 2 ways if you survive launch. Of course, that would require a rocket engine.
