gotta admit that the Republicans have the best looking zombie-robot army around.
In 2012 they should run a “Hot Chicks & Heavy Metal” platform. Spiked armor and not-found-in-nature hair colors included, naturally. It’ll be brutal. President Obama will run on issues and his record in office, while the HC&HM platform shreds some hott lixx on the stage. The pubs wouldn’t fare any better at the ballot box, but the debates would be much more entertaining!
True……I feel bad for Elizabeth. She’s got some valid points, there is nothing wrong with her being a conservative who agrees with Sarah Palin, but she constantly gets shouted down and called an idiot for her views. I guess The View means the liberal view, and THAT’S IT OR WE’LL CALL YOU A DUMBA$$ AND MAKE YOU GO HOME. I just wish it was either more even, or that they would actually let her speak and debate her instead of just shutting her out and shutting her down. She has to be as hardline as she is because she is alone up there. I respect the h3ll out of her!

Well, I don’t agree with just calling her a dumba$$, but I will say that she tends to fall for, and then repeat, standard talking points. She does not really reason and formulate her own arguments, and is no more willing to listen to the other side of the debate than are some of her co-stars.
Elizabeth must get paid a hell of a lot to put up with the shit she takes. The others on the View could learn a lesson from her on how to be respectful. However, she had to know what she was getting into when she signed on there. I too, have a lot of respect for here even though I don’t agree with everything she stands for. In regards to the lol, she has enough money to have a firewire port. USB is for poor people….

It’s been a while since I’ve even bothered with The View, but the last few times I watched it about a year or so ago, whenever Elizabeth would make her argument it was always started with “i feel…” or “i believe…” and she never backed anything up, it was strictly based on her “values”. While I can respect arguing from the heart, and with passion, when you refuse to cite examples or back up a claim with anything other than a belief system I can’t sustain any respect for you or give your arguments any credibility. That is where my feelings for you Froofrou and the ones for Elizabeth differ. FF, you manage to cite sources, give examples, and simultaneusly argue from your values and beliefs. You have my respect and adoration, whereas Elizabeth just sustained derision and annoyance with me and I dismissed her as a another windbag to join the rest of the windbags on the show. Thats my entire problem with the view, only Barbara ever really gave her arguments credibility, based both on facts, values, and her years of experience, I also noticed she is the one who treats Elizabeth the best, despite thier differences, which is another reason I like Barbara. Now, I’ve watched a few you tube clips recently now that Whoopi has joined the group, and I noticed she gets detailed and specific too (on occaision at least), but these are only clips and not whole episodes, so if you recommend it, I’ll give them another chance, especially if Elizabeth has started backing up her arguments better.
I would never recomment The View to anyone, and my only exposure to it lately is watching Elizabeth get lampooned by ‘the other side’. I think they’re all shrill harpies who don’t give a crap as long as they can shout people down. Merideth Viera actually seemed like she wanted to listen here and there, but she’s gone now. Joy Behar used to crack me up when the show first started, but you’re right, she can kiss my pasty butt too, now. Anyone remember Lisa Ling? She was the reason I started watching the show. When I was in middle/high school, Lisa Ling was the one of hoasts of the “Channel One” news program they used to distribute to public schools. It was a really really cool program, and she was one of the best anchors/reports on there. She transitioned onto The View later and she was great there in the first few seasons before they started marketing the show more to the suck zone.
Oh, also, I am slightly biased. Some of the statements (during her entire run on the show) that she has made about gay people and the wide ranging issues involving homosexuality have REALLY pissed me off. I remember a 10 mintue argument she had with the others about homosexuality being a choice, (this was like 2-3 years ago i think?) and it made me sick listening to her go on like some sort of psychologist diagnosing me without even knowing me.
Again, maybe she has changed on this? I dunno, I got sick of the whole thing.
Hasselbeck is passionate, but that’s just not enough. She’s either insufficiently articulate or informed (or both) to do a good job of representing conservative views. If I were there, I would be wanting to shut her down too – not because she’s a conservative, but because she’s an incompetent conservative.
Sometimes I’m paranoid enough to wonder if that’s why they keep her there (to make conservatives look bad), instead of replacing her with an intelligent and thoughtful conservative woman.
Ooooh! And a great theme song would be “Heeding The Call” by Hammerfall!!
They’d have to cover “Beast and the Harlot” to lock up the fundie vote, though!
