    Aw! Cute kid!

  2. Tom Trifik says:

Poor kid will grow up in a Socialist Country

    • seattlefreeze says:

…you are the reason republicans lost.

    • x-bert says:

The kid is going to grow up in England?

    • GOP Princess says:

Look… I don;t expect you to support Obama just because he won. I realize he still has to prove himself to you, and he may never do that, and that’s OKAY. The worst thing any citizen can do for this country is blindly follow a leadership they never supported. But you are still expected to do that from a place of RESPECT, and this comment was way off base.

Be a gracious loser. You’re making us look bad.

      • The L says:

Exactly. He may not be the president you wanted, but he is the president.

Frankly, I thought both candidates were pretty solid–the one thing that scared me off McCain was the fact that he thought Sarah Palin was a good choice of running mate.

        • JahChiWah says:

Thats the exact same reason that McCain had no chance to sway me. He had some good plans and good ideas. But as soon as he picked Palin, he lost my confidence.

          • BAW says:

Exactly; given his age, it is more than likely that a hypothetical President McCain might not survive his term, which would have given us a Presiden Palin. Isn’t that a frightening thought?

            • Pal says:

McCain needed Palin to pick up the right wing Christian vote, and the
disgruntled Hilary vote. The misjudgment was in thinking that the two
blocs would ever support the same candidate

        • chris says:

So the reason you (and I’m sure millions like you) chose Obama over McCain is because of his VP choice? Wow, I’m glad that I voted for McCain based on his stance on issues. BTW, Biden is laughable compared to Palin.

          • seattlefreeze says:

            …you live in Alaska right?

          • Jenessa says:

I’m sure these people looked at the presidential policies first, but if you can’t decide based on the big issues (which is understandable if you’re a moderate) you have to look at the smaller issues. Biden has years of experience in the senate and he’s a great politician. To claim Palin > Biden you’re going to need some serious proof

          • GOP Princess says:

I think what they’re referring to is the fact that her stance on issues was nothing like his… because she didn’t have any. I supported McCain on the issues too, but the fact remains she just a poor choice. She had less experience than Obama. I was really uncomfortable with that fact that she would have been running our nation had (Heaven forbid) something happened to McCain. The fact that he chose someone so out there WAS an issue.

            • Jenessa says:

I agree. She was clearly radically conservative and that’s great for radically conservative people but for moderates and liberals that’s a concern.

              • Tessie says:

A little while prior to the election, I read an editorial saying that Sarah Palin was a poor choice for McCain’s VP candidate from a strategic point of view. I’m paraphrasing here, but the gist of it was that, sure, there are some right-wing evangelical voters out there, but they wouldn’t have voted for Barack Obama in a million years anyway, thereby making Sarah Palin the VP pick rather pointless.

Personally, I think that if McCain, or his campaign advisors, or whoever came up with Sarah Palin, felt that they absolutely had to have a woman candidate to capture the Hillary supporters (and I don’t think it’s quite that simple, but anyway), could have gone with someone more well-known. Liddy Dole and Christine Whitman come to mind right off the top of my head, but I’m sure there are others who also would have done a good job and/or been popular with swing voters.

                • pdq says:

Too true. It would have made a great deal of difference; I may have leaned heavily toward McCain and if a Dem like me would sway so, it would’ve been powerful. I suspect the many times since September that McCain looked so p-o’d all the time was him being annoyed by his own choice of VP – and not feeling free to back away from that choice.

                • Jenessa says:

If they were looking for a woman Condi Rice is at least qualified

              • Pal says:

Yeah, one thing many members of political minorities don’t get is that
in a democracy, you rarely win if you’re not part of a majority.
Only by heavy chicanery at the polls or by misrepresenting what you
                really stand for.

          • Paul says:

“Biden is laughable compared to Palin.”

Obama isn’t 72 years old with a history of cancer. His VP choice is less crucial than McCain’s.

          • The L says:

Based on their respective platforms, I was wavering.

And how, exactly, is Biden laughable compared to a woman who:

            - Fails to realize that Alaska makes more money from tourists who go to see its natural beauty than the state could ever make from drilling for oil.

            - Deliberately attempts to skew the predator-prey balance by killing off bears and wolves, ignoring the fact that this same practice in the southern US resulted in a massive overpopulation of deer beyond the capability of human hunters to control.

            - Thinks a single story which has no supporting evidence of any kind is more reasonable than a theory which has been proven and refined over the past 150 years based on an abundance of empirical evidence.

            - Approved a bridge between two small towns (the larger had 7,000 residents; the smaller, 50) when there was no need for such a bridge (there was a ferry service in operation between the two towns). In fact, she insisted during her 2006 gubernatorial campaign that she would “not allow the spinmeisters to turn this project [...] into something that’s so negative.”

            - Changed her mind about the very same bridge proposal a year later; however, she still set aside $25 million for the construction of a bridge to the 50-resident town.

        • Trainwreck Chaser says:

          Sexist!

(my history on this site should speak to my sarcasm, last time I’m going to explain that)

        • PortlandMark says:

And even better: let’s see, what was that phrase all the right wing talk show hosts kept using for the last eight years. Let’s see, it went something like… Oh I remember: “We Won the Election, and Elections Have Consequences!!!” (I always imagined the phrase as being all capitalized! :) )

        • Blarg says:

Correction: he is the president-ELECT. Don’t be surprised if someone tries to keep that as far as he goes.

      • Tom Trifik says:

GOP Princess did you just drink the kool-aid too? Obama has repeatedly stated his ideals on redistribution of wealth, (take from the haves & give to the have nots). He will have Harry Reed and Nancy Pelosi and a Democratic Congress there to push through anti-gun, anti-capitalist, pro-liberal, more government and higher tax agendas that Bill Clinton only dreamed of doing. He will probably get to appoint 2 very liberal Supreme Court Justices who will be seated for 20+ years. The country will definitely will be much more socialist leaning by 2012. Who knows what will happen to the military defense structure of the country and our standing in the world. He has no economic policy of his own and a scary foreign policy.

Sure he’ll be the President, but I’m not going to fawn over him, bow down to him, or rejoice. I’m all for change, however I don’t think that Barack Obama is the one to bring about the kind of change this country needs. That’s the way I see it right now and I do hope I’m not right and I hope he is a good President.

If I am to wind up wrong, only the the next 4 years will tell. We will have to wait and see.

[meanwhile I'll be on Pogo playing games and be apolitical again]

        • Jo says:

Um… your standing in the world will actually go UP???

Frankly, after Bush ( and re-electing him – geez people!) US’s standing with the rest of us has only one way to go – up – with Obama.

After seeing the IBankers lavish their -actually, your’s when one think of it – bailout money on paying off huge severance packages for their CXOs, yes, blanket capitalism in USA seems to be a great idea ( if you want to complete end US’s significance in world politics).

        • GOP Princess says:

The point I was trying to make was the fact that you DO have a right to disagree with everything Obama does, but you don;t have to be an accusatory dick about it. I disagree with the man, but that doesn’t make him a socialist. Your comment was out of line because you accused him of being something he’s not. The idea of redistribution of wealth can be PART of a socialist agenda, but it does not a socialist agenda make. It sounds to me like you’re just repeating the talking points the extremists of our ranks have thrown at you. This is why I accused you of making us look bad.

        • Pal says:

Tom Trifik, do you recall the Eisenhower years? Under him the top tax rate was 90 percent or taxable income. The theory was that folks who make millions a year can easily live without some of it, while those who run the elevators and serve the coffee and mop your floors cant afford as big a percentage.
The fairness in a progressive tax rate is that those who pay more are getting more from the country.
I doubt anyone accused Ike of being a socialist.

If you are saying Bill Clinton was a socialist, you didnt read enough newspapers during his presidency and listened to too much tork radio. Clinton achieved many classic Republican goals, such as a balanced budget, that the GOP has been unable -and probably unwilling- do for years.
Your man Bush is the biggest spendthrift we’ve had in a long while. He did cut taxes, but someone down the line will have to pay for the enrichment of his buddies in these wars.

      • Tessie says:

Thank you for your thoughtful comment, your Princessitude. I’m pleased to see that most of the comments since the polls closed have been from good losers and good winners, with a minimum of whiny soreheads on any side of the spectrum. Hopefully, posts like yours will encourage everyone to cooperate in the spirit of true patriotism.

        [shuffles toe]

Oh, and by the way… can I try on that tiara?

    • Seth says:

Obama is a centrist. Did you see his Harvard Law School adviser on the Daily Show last night? He thought Obama was a Republican when they first met. He said Reagan was Obama’s favorite president. I am a socialist anarchist, and Obama is no socialist! Don’t worry, teh ebil socialists are not coming to stealz yer propuhtie.

    • Pooper says:

Then move out of the U.S. You wont be missed.

    • teebird says:

You can drop the “Obama-is-a-socialist” mantra. The election campaign is over. Anyway, you probably wouldn’t recognize a Socialist if some body dropped one on you.

    • Schifteh five says:

Socialism is awesome! Why hasn’t Bush proven that to you yet?

  3. KC says:

Now this is actually funny and non-partisan! WIN.

  4. Dylan H. says:

Lulz, baby. At least it takes the attention away from Obama stupidly gazing at that guy’s manboobs, while the man in question appears to be adjusting himself. And I think that woman in the background is smuggling coffee beans.

  5. Ceefax says:

Bush’s speech was actually unusually eloquent and smirk free when he was talking about what a great day it was for America and how all Americans, no matter how they voted, can be proud of this day.

    • Sarah Palin loves Joe the Plumber says:

No one cares what that asshat has to say. He needs to pack his crap and leave immediately. I can only hope he trips on a frayed piece of carpet on his way down the stairs–and gets there much faster than walking.

      • Phaelin says:

Just stop. Your comments are so full of fail, it’s impossible to describe…

      • minerva146 says:

Yes. We criticize those wishing violence on our candidate and we also criticize those wishing violence on the opponent. It’s not ok from either side. This isn’t the American way. We disagreed on the campaign trail. Mud was flung. But Hope has won the day. Time to move on and try for unity.

  6. Zaphne says:

    Happy baby!

  7. Trainwreck Chaser says:

I wrote in Baby. Looks like he got some votes.

  8. qwertydude says:

    President in 2032 =P

  9. Tessie says:

    OK, that’s it, you guys!

I am TOTALLY stealing that baby!

[tucks baby under one arm like a football]

    Don’t try to stop me!

    [runs away]

  10. Roto13 says:

    D’awwww

  11. Kraas says:

    CUTE BABY 2012
A VOTE FOR CUTE BABY IS A VOTE FOR AMERICA

  12. PortlandMark says:

I love to see a baby look that happy. It just makes me all warm inside.

  13. Jeez says:

pfft i don’t see the reason why you guys are whining, you live in a country where you can make your own choices and that’s something great( like compare your self to russia or china – communism ftw eh? no. ) so there isn’t much difference between mccain or obama. yes, the war and everything but still. you still have your self, not a big chance of getting thrown into siberia or something >..< plus he’s your president now, not much you can do about it ._.

  14. emily says:

heheh. SO true. That cute little kid TOTALLY is stealing the picture.

  15. John says:

Holy cow! That baby is made of marshmallows and sunshine!

  16. wundawomun says:

That baby reminds me of Charlie with hair. Obama better watch his fingers.

  17. Ignatz says:

Yes indeed, a most cute baby. He looks like he’s going to nom the phone.

He’s not as cute as mine, but I’m a biased father…

  18. Sarah Palin loves Joe the Plumber says:

    Goddamn, that kid is creepy-looking.

  19. Captain Wow says:

ZOMG! I just about cried that kid is so cute!!!! That’s one happy kid.

  20. Phaelin says:

I haven’t commented on this one yet? Oh yeah, PK ate my comment. Cutest friggin’ kid EVER.

  21. cromulus says:

The head of that man’s penis sure does look like a baby.

  22. bunny says:

Was trying to look for a video of Obama’s acceptance speech and I found this:

I think it has the baby in it…I think her name is Gracie?

  23. tahnee says:

i know all you guys are arguing about how obama and mccain’s policies, but let me give you a perspective from overseas. with bush’s incompetency creating disastrous repercussions for the rest of the world, the general international opinion of both bush and the american public was that they were/are all complete idiots. obama’s win, even if he is not the president that all americans maybe have wanted but at least he has restored the faith of many abroad in both human nature and a nation that was perceived as extremely idiotic and racist.

    • Broopar says:

I’d say more or less the same thing: If I lived in the US, I’d too take the risk and electing Obama – even if in the end he does/did screw everything up, at least it would most deff be a change from Bush policies etc. So I’m quite happy with the results :D

  24. LOLMAN says:

Is it just me or does that kid look like Chucky? OH GAWD HES GONNA KILL OBAMA!
