The NTSB accident report you’ve found was for a Cessna 150 that crashed in California. The plane in the picture is a Piper Archer, which crashed in Colorado.
Sure they teach you how to land, in a tree. It’s the advanced class, you can ony do it once though.

In WWII, I think that would be a B-25 – twin prop, double tail, nose gunner? The 52 is Vietnam and later.

This pilate actually died. This took place in Chino, CA. He avoided hitting a youth correctional facility filled with children.
I wash my hands of this.

The pilot survived. He was practicing take-offs and landings at night when his engine failed due to carburetor icing. He attempted to land on a road near the airport, but was forced to divert at the last minute because of oncoming automobile traffic, and he crashed into the tree. The “learn to fly here” sign was on a different part of the airport and was photoshopped into the picture.
There was an article about it several months ago in AOPA Pilot magazine.
