Did you not notice “leaving him in a life-threatening condition”?
This man, and likely others, were tortured.
-Sleep deprivation: borderline
-Isolation: Not torture
-Public nudity: borderline, depends on extent
-Prolonged exposure to cold: torture
-Insults to family members: not torture, but not going to accomplish anything either
-Being led on a leash like a dog: torture (what is this supposed to accomplich?)

But don’t forget that these is just what happened to one guy. The UsS has already admitted to water boarding and other techniques which, until a few years ago, was considered torture. It still is considered torture by most of the world.

What the US has done, is it has redefined torture, and you have accepted that redefinition.

And it says explicitly in the Geneva Conventions that you are obligated to follow it even if your opponent doesn’t.

I agree. I’m not sure and I’d have to go back over his voting record, but I believe that he’s voted for gun restrictions in the past (during one of his 143 days in the Senate), and has also lobbied (used loosely) against guns in the state senate in Illinois. Just going off ideology alone, someone as far to the left as he is (comparatively speaking) doesn’t agree with people having guns anymore than a fundy thinks that women should be allowed to have abortions.
