If there weren’t a bunch of mindless idiots who are willing to subject themselves to some preachers insane babbling about ghosts and goblins froM eons ago, religion and all of its superstitions would have died out long ago.

As long as there are people who will really believe that the sky is falling without first verifying it, there are going to be others who will use your superstitions, paranoia and stupidity against you and for their own gain.
