  1. AC says:

Ooooohh! Ken whit? Ken whit? Ken whit?
    I’m now 17!
    Old enough to drive -mwahahaha!
The roads are no longer safe……..

    • AC says:

      Irrelevant, but I thought I’d share it…

      • Captain Wow says:

Also Irrelevant, Obama just declared Kentucky a Disaster Area. It’s horrible here!

        • Is there a weather issue, or was that just in general?
          *ducks*

          • Scum says:

            Ice storm. 600k w/out power.
Used to happen all the time growing up in MN, but I guess Kentuckians aren’t as prepared for this kind of thing – kind of like DC closing some schools because of a little ice.

            • Oh, right. We got the tail end of it here but it wasn’t anything remarkable. Sorry to hear it’s sucking so bad in Kentucky, Capt. Wow — I guess at least you have power, right?

              • Captain Wow says:

We have power now, but we were without for like three days, which doesn’t sound like much to all those people in MN, but we just aren’t used to this kind of thing. It has sucked. There are people in Arkansas that are going to be without for a while. Everyone has at least one tree down in their yard, it’s really sad.

                • mothergoose says:

                  Sorry Cap…hope all is well..

Just another reason to invest in our Infrastructure, I’m afraid…

                • Scum says:

Actually, that’s a long time for MN. When it’s -10 to -30F and you don’t have heat, it’s certain death. Probably another reason the infrastructure in MN is better, it simply has to be.

Glad to hear you have power back and I hope everyone is safe.

                  • Captain Wow says:

Yeah my Mom and Dad will probably stay with me (they’re still without power). Right now it’s just damage control and a lot of people are really cold. I feel for them, really, but I can’t help but be happy that they fixed my so quickly.

                    • ElbieSee says:

Sending you and yours warm thoughts…

We had some ice and snow here – not enough in my neck of the woods to take out power, but enough to cancel school for 2 days.

                    • srab says:

are you in the paducah/western kentucky area? i have some friends who are having to stay in hotels right now because they lost power over there.

                      • DaffySaffy says:

Well, the extreme weather some of you are suffering actually made it onto the radio news here in Ireland. Hope the worst of it has passed over with the minimum of human damage (so to speak). It kind of puts the
winter weather we get here into perspective. . .

                        • Captain Wow says:

@ElbieSee thanks for the warm thoughts, they’re paying off. More and more people are regaining power.
@Srab, I’m in central Kentucky, just below Lexington.
@Daffy, the worst has past, it’s supposed to warm up tomorrow to 45 degrees, so hopefully all of this stuff will melt (and not refreeze)!

            • rhorho says:

I would think terrain and rural % would make it more difficult to
resolve power issues in KY than in MN.

              • Scum says:

You know nothing of MN and her ways… ;-)
Actually, MN has almost as many rural residents as Kentucky has total people (slight exaggeration).

MN ranks 31st in population density. KY is 22nd.
MN is also more than twice as large.

It’s more that MN is better prepared for that type of weather since there’s quite a bit more of it up there. Lots of snow, bitter cold, severe blizzards, driving winds. Ah, I’m getting homesick ;-)

                • Tessie says:

“It’s more that MN is better prepared for that type of weather since there’s quite a bit more of it up there.”
                  `
Which makes it likely that requests to the budget for plows, salt trucks, etc. will be approved.

                  • Scum says:

Yup, funding is part of the preparation. It’s just a part of life there. Nothing special.

                    • Tessie says:

It’s my observation that in New England and the Northern Tier states, fifth billion snowplows and salt trucks are up and rolling the instant the first snowflake flies — and really, you can see why they would be, because the alternative would be not to leave the house for six months. In the Southern states, they don’t consider it worth their while to budget for plows and salt trucks, so when the inevitable snow/ice storm eventually does hit, it ends up being a week-long emergency instead of something that could have been plowed away in a couple of hours.

                      • Danbala says:

We get the exact same thing here in Sweden. I now live in a west-coast city fairly far south, we almost never get snow, but if one flake falls from the sky, me and my bf will look at each other and go “Uh-oh. Traffic chaos.” We’re both from further north and are used to seeing streets ploughed almost before you even noticed it snowed. Here, they do have a few snow ploughs, I think, becuase sometimes you see that typical scraping pattern that indicates a plough has been there. :p

                • rhorho says:

My best friend’s mother lives in Badger, MN, population
200ish. The town was featured on David Letterman once.

I enjoy winter as a resting period from lawn mowing and
bugs, but can’t fathom what people see in all of that
                  brutal weather…

                  • Scum says:

That’s way the hell up there, but you know what? I’ve been in the area. I don’t think I’ve been in Badger, though I may have passed through it.
                    -
The weather isn’t always brutal. Often, it’s wonderful (your results may vary)/
It’s beautiful up there, but if I was going to retire back in MN, it’d probably be on the North Shore of Lake Superior. I spent a lot of time up there gowing up and later as an adult before I moved away.
                    -
You have tornadoes. So does MN, but yours are far bigger and worse. You have thunderstorms (which I really really miss) which are bigger than those in MN. You have hurricanes. None in MN. You have heat waves worse than MN.
                    -
Everywhere has some negatives. CA had earthquakes and seasonal fires. You take the good with the bad.
                    -
Does your friends mom work up there? Are they on a farm or related work?
Oh ya, why was it on Letterman?

                    • rhorho says:

[LINK] In 2000, Late Show did a “Biff Henderson’s
America” series wherein Biff traveled to little towns
                      and field reported to Dave.

My friend’s parents are retired. Her father was
military, then contract-military, then worked for
                      Polaris (in Grand Forks, IIRC).

What I’ve seen of MN is pretty. I’ve been to Duluth
and a few other places, but most of my time up
north was in ID, MT, WY and the Dakotas.

I’m not in “Tornado Alley,” so that much is okay. It’s
a matter of personal preference, but we only get 8
or so 100º days a year. To me, that’s relatively mild
compared to the weeks of cold up north. I’ve never
had to dig my car out of the heat, but if you beg,
I can probably make up a Texas Tall Tale about
                      having done so…
                      ;-)

              • Captain Wow says:

It is much harder because there are SO many more trees, and the utility companies didn’t trim them back.

            • I remember having an Ice Storm in MS when I was a lad. Dropped to an obscene negative number during a rain storm and made my yard into an ice rink. Snapped every damn pine tree and kept me out of school for six weeks. It was interesting since it went back to 70 degrees while things were being repaired.

Kentucky has my sympathy since it really did suck to be in an ice storm in the south.

            • lowly grunt says:

People in DC are sissies. Except the District has classes on Tuesday and boy did they catch h*ll for that! How DARE they continue to offer educational services to one of the most underfunded and underperforming systems in the country? *huff*

However, 60-70 miles west of DC here in West by God Virginia, this is our third snow day. What a waste of time.

              • Scum says:

While I agree with the DC = sissies, I think so for different reasons.

I was in Anchorage in Feb 1980. I was surprised at
                A. they whined about the cold, and it wasn’t even close to cold by MN standards
                B. They had very little snow (again, by MN standards) and yet still couldn’t manage to clear the roads.

Because of where they’re situated, they never get as cold or get as much snow as we did in MN, so their infrastructure didn’t need to be as robust. It’s the same with DC, KY and other places that just don’t have to handle it all the time.
When they do have to deal with it, it’s a lot harder and takes a lot more time.

                • lowly grunt says:

In Denver back in 1982, we had a huge blizzard that dumped about two feet of snow everywhere. Mayor Bill McNicol lost re-election the next year because he couldn’t get the streets cleared of snow fast or thoroughly enough. I was amazed.

There may have been more to it than that, but still….

              • n8 says:

Yes, those DC people are definitely defective. *glares across the beltway at DC from Herndon*

In fact, we folk of the DC Metro Area are not sissies… we’re just lazy bastards who will take any excuse for a day off. :-)

    • Uncle Fester says:

      You old git
      Congrats!

    • n8 says:

Natal anniversary felicitations to you, AC!

    • Srrslysry says:

      Happy Happy 17 AC!

    • ElbieSee says:

      Happy Birthday!

*quietly stays off the roads. And sidewalks, just to be safe*

    • mothergoose says:

17?! God, to have to try and remember back that far….

      • Scum says:

It was just over 30 years ago for me, but the strange thing is that in some ways, it feels like yesterday. Of course maybe that just means I’m getting senile already.

    • dissimilitude says:

Happy Birthday, AC! In honor of your birthday, I’ll refrain from using the smiley that freaks you out for today. :-)

    • mothergoose says:

*puts out freshly baked Birthday Cake for AC*

    • Kuromisa says:

Congrats! *hugs* How’s 17 treating you?

(I’m resisting the urge to make a reference to REPO! The Genetic Opera, because I’m not sure how many people would get it…)

    • Literal says:

      For your birthday, I present:
      -
“Welcome to All Things Scottish – if it’s not Scottish, it’s craaaapp!! Can I help ye?”
      -
And speaking of it’s craaaapp!! — yeesh!

    • pittypat says:

      Ahhhh, Congrats!
      Aaand, Cheers!
      Apply Cake!

      • lowly grunt says:

        “Apply cake”?
You must host very interesting parties…… The cleaning crew receives very large bribes not to tattle, yes?

        Where’s my invitation?

    • rhorho says:

YAY!! Happy Birthday, you driver, you!!

    • Scum says:

      Happy B’Day!
Where are you that you can’t drive until you’re 17?

    • :twisted: :twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted:

      Because I care.

  2. omg says:

    OMG WORST RATED EVER!!

  3. gewitterwind says:

Why the bad rating? I don’t see anything bad about it. O_o

  4. Mick says:

…or fellatio with small girls….see the bottom

  5. JB says:

That’s not the funny thing about this pic at all – its funnier as a whole pic with no comment!

  6. andy says:

yet Biden just announced a “troop surge” for Afghanistan……

    • Uncle Fester says:

The Afghan front was always a valid target, due to solid Al Qaida links among the tribes … it’s the Iraq one that isn’t… but Afghanistan, as been pointed out before, is the grave yard of Empires… no one is going to win that one.

      • mothergoose says:

While I agree that Afghanistan is the graveyard of Empires; I do see the need for us to be there. I hope that Obama sets clearly defined outcomes…then supports the effort to reach those outcomes swiftly and decisively. I also hope that if it begins to bog down after this surge, that he won’t be stubborn about it and allow it to drag on and on…

        • Uncle Fester says:

If a President wasn’t limited to two terms, then there probably wouldn’t have been the Rush to Iraq, and the whole mess settled now…

If only El Bush had stuck to his 1999 pose, and simply fortified the US, rhater than rounding up a posse and going after the bad guy…

          • mothergoose says:

But look at the “Posse” he rounded up…it wasn’t the Massive Coalition that he had hoped for (or the coalition his father raised in GW1)…And I remember thinking at the time that it seemed to me Bush II had postured himself into the position where he had no option but to go to war in Iraq regardless of the whole “Your with us or against us” rhetoric he was spouting at the time. It’s almost like when most of the world said, “No, George, we’re not going into Iraq”; he’d gotten his “Texas” up and had no choice but to save face…

as I tell most of the Adjudicated Youth I work with, Bush had a case of “terminal vocal overload”; then had no choice but put up, or shut up. Unfortunately, he chose poorly.

  7. foomanchu says:

Make sane economic decisions, not bailouts.

    • Uncle Fester says:

That would be nice… won’t happen while ever the old Chicago-Austrian model is on place, since this mess it exactly what it supposed to happen in Anarcho-Capitalism.

      • mothergoose says:

Rachel Maddow had D-Sen. Pete DeFazio (sp?) on last night, and he has been making the case that the Stim Package does not have anywhere near enough of an emphasis on infrastructure…I’ve gotta say the case is overwhelming that we need to spend more in that area…haven’t most great Empires crumbled from within????

  8. Freep says:

Oh, don’t worry. Obama is so cool, no one will ever hate us again. It’s all gonna be smooooooooooth sailing. We should just quit having elections anymore and make him king. Don’t worry, be happy.

  9. Amy says:

Okay, since when was Pundit Kitchen a conservative website? I swear, all the LOL’s that either uphold Obama or diss on former president Bush all have low ratings, regardless of how funny they are. What, are the elephants all trolling the internets now?

  10. Bruno says:

BULL SHIT. If anyone thinks that we will be more peaceful with Obama than with any other president, then I’m afraid you’re a naive fool.

People hear “Pulling out of Iraq” and they seem to think the soldiers are coming home. You’re in for a surprise.

This has got to be the stupidest nation on earth.

  11. Bruno says:

Anyone think this Democrat vs. Republican shit will ever end? People don’t have their own opinions anymore. It’s us v. them, regardless of the issue. Each side has talking heads and mouth pieces to worship unquestionably and the entire purpose of a democratic government is lost in this ridiculous struggle.

People think they’re smart because they’re liberal or conservative when in reality you’re just a sheep. A number. A brain-dead, fat mouth, hate-regurgitating, closed minded, soldier of an invisible army.

Remember when people thought for themselves?

  12. DD says:

I can only assume making LOL consists of taking troops out of Iraq and redeploying them in Afganistan

    • Uncle Fester says:

      Quite probably… and your point?

    • I think it involves redeploying the troops to comedy clubs.

      • Uncle Fester says:

That would make some interesting ‘Open Mike’ nights…
“…and I was covered in my buddy’s brains, then I looked at Sarge, and he’s sobbing and trying to hold his guts in, but they’re oozing out from between his fingers like the Blob, and stinking, then I realise I can only see out of one eye and hear this high pitched noise…”

        • rhorho says:

…and AF laughs, then takes notes for the next day at PK.

          • Anti Fester says:

Yes, laugh you retards- just wait until Obamaboy starts the draft.
What’s it like to be a coward? Does it hurt to look in the mirror everyday?
Do you cry when little girls beat you up and take your lunch money?
Has Rhorho EVER posted anything funny in her toady sucking-up-to-Fester dribble? What pathetics farts you are- I think I shall take a dump in the halls of Windsor castle in honor of Fester- the English have pissed on the Scots enough already.
This site used to have intelligent people- and then the Democrats came…..

  13. Captain Wow says:

i lovee obama, but this is kinda LAME

  15. haha says:

So how’s that whole Libya and Obama telling Congress to go pound sand because he’s gonna do whatever he wants with the military workin’ out for you guys?
