I rolled a 10! I will help you with a +2 to save vs. illusions.

Completely unrelated but I thought some folk might like it. [LINK]

  9. slan agat says:

Well played, Literal, you’re on a major roll with the voters. And a good use of poster format, IMHO.

  10. Danbala says:

I really, really like this lol. (But then, I am not inclined to be a POSTER FORMAT NAZI.) … :p

This one wrote itself, Danbala. He really did use his tax loophole noose to hang himself. Obama should probably have vetted him better: then again, we can’t know all the skeletons in someone’s closet, even if we sleep in the same bed as a person.
I just found out the other day my husband didn’t leave university of his own accord after 19 years of believing otherwise; he was tossed on his ear by the student conduct board for possession of a stick of dynomite on campus (which they were planning to use in a physics experiment, and it was pre-US college-campus terrorism — 1984 — and he was young and dumb).
By the by — I loved your old avatar. It was intriguing!

      • Danbala says:

Yeah, our government had the same issues when they formed in 2006 – a number of “ministers-to-be” turned out to have cheated on various more or less serious things and ended up tossed out faster than you could say bottle. (That’s a direct translation from a Swedish saying, in case anyone wonders.) We (the people in general) were also going “Ummm… Shouldn’t they have been checked up on first, or maybe even mentioned it themselves?”
        .
My old avatar was just me! (Still have it as my profile picture. Don’t want to appear too narcissistic, or something, you know… ;p)

I try to steer clear of politics as a whole, and haven’t voted on a national level since my very first election at 18. I’m just not comfortable with the whole notion of supporting the lesser of two evils and those they appoint into positions of power. I prefer to sit back and poke fun at both sides, as you have probably noted by the diversity of my lols. It’s why ubr and Uncle Fester intrigue me — they are vocal about their denigration of both sides of the fence, which I interpret as Libertarianism, and I haven’t embraced the notion of such thus far.

Hmmm. That’s a photo of you? How daring! I can’t imagine cutting my hair into that style, even as a youngster. It suits you nicely, and I wish I had the balls to adopt such a style.

    • Literal says:

Ack. Satellite timed out again, so my post didn’t nest appropriately. This was a response to you, Danbala.

I do know the feeling. I still vote though. Our political system has a wee bit more nuances than the American one, and I see my vote more as an opinion poll. (We currently have 7 political parties in our government, divided into two blocks. “My” party is not one of the two major left/right ones, but it’s still in there, and hopefully every vote they get could mean them having another mandate in any vote.) (On an unrelated note: Unfortunately, it looks like we might get an eighth party in the 2010 elections – a populistic, xenophobic party run by hypocritical arseholes.)
      .
Yep, a photo of me taken this summer. It’s not so much balls that makes me look like I do, rather a must, for my own well being. I had a period when I attempted to look “normal”, because i thought that was what was needed to get a job and stuff like that. I was miserable that whole time. :/

  12. Literal says:

Seven parties? How ever do you keep them straight?
And I can see the opinion poll aspect.
Xenophobes? I wasn’t aware that immigration was an issue in your country. As far as populistic goes, does this new party take it farther than the furthest left of its American counterpart? Green Party and beyond?
    -
LOVE the hair in the photo …
    -
Oops, I have company. Back later!

    • Danbala says:

Seven parties? How ever do you keep them straight?
I wish I could say “edumacation”. It’s not that hard to keep ‘em straight, but in many cases I think it’s a bit like religion – people tend to follow their parents’ example, or rebel and vote the opposite. :p But no, it’s not hard to keep them apart. Me, I can’t understand how you manage to survive with only two (“reasonable”) options. :)
      .
Populistic in the sense that what they market as their party programme is basically “Sweden should have less crime, Sweden should be Swedish, Sweden should be good to live in for Swedish people”. When pressed on clarification, their true (and horribly ugly) colours show. They’re racist and xenophobic, and if there’s something that’s easy to do for someone who’s not satisfied with the current state of affairs, it’s to say “damn those foreigners, it’s all their fault”.
Yes, we have immigration issues, and they’re easy to make into an election issue, simply because xenophobia is an excellent way to let people have a handy scapegoat.
      .
(And they are far right, so I don’t know how to compare them to the furthest American left. ;p)

      • Danbala says:

Oh! There’s an English wiki article on them:
        en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sverigedemokraterna

      • MLD says:

        ———————-
THIS is one of the most frustrating aspects of being an American, I think. Or perhaps it’s being told that my vote is “wasted” if I vote third party (IMO, the only wasted vote is one not cast).

  13. Me says:

“Not paying your taxes, a direct link to getting selection for an Obama cabinet seat, directly behind pardons for criminals and receiving donations from foreign countries for your husbands foundation even though you will be dealing with them as Secretary of State.”
Maybe I should just say “Obama administration FAIL”, if John McCain had done this, there would already be cries for impeachment.

    • Steve says:

Yes, because obviously Obama wants as many scandals as possible, and as such is choosing cabinet members with questionable tax status…Idiot. Don’t you think if he could have seen this coming he would have avoided these people like the plague?
      -
It’s not like he introduces himself “Hi, I’m Tom Daschle, I cheat on my taxes.”

      • yourface says:

Yeah, you’re right, its also not like Obama would invest any research into people that he wants to appoint to his cabinet. William Geithner for example, I can understand why you wouldn’t want to check and see if the would be head of IRS pays hi taxes, yeah the guy above you Steve is the idiot.
