OMG! I was first?!?!?! *dances a happy dance*
“but many who are first will be last and the last will be first…”
Do NOT click this link!
Then why did you link it?
I hate you I hate you I hate you!!!!!!!!11111111oneoneone
Hee!
I love his expression.
*feels temptation*
Nah. Don’t think I will.
caption fail.
.
there are a lot more than 113k bugs in windows…
Yeah, I was about to say “is that all?”!
dito
And it’s still better then a mac……customization of just about everything in Windows is better then having someone do something that I didn’t want.
The Apple UI is moderately customisable… I’d like Vista lot better if it didn’t take a snap shop of all the open windows whether you have the graphic bloat on or not.
And most of the Windows interface is aping the Apple UI anyway…
Macs are great for managing media, Facebooking, uploading your iPod, or downloading songs, but otherwise, they SUCK.
You can do everything on Windows.
If that is supposed to be the bugs wrong with windows, then that must be half of what is in an Apple Computer.
Has a short bus crashed or something?
Isn’t Windows technically a virus?
Hee!
lol. nice fester.
LOL!! If it makes you sick and no medicine will help, then…
Yes, it is!
No no no, Fester, it’s language that’s a virus, get the memo!

Wait a minute, 113K bugs mentioned and NOT A MOSQUITO among them??? I’m sorry, fail for not even bringing up the mosquitos.
Someone make a chart on graph jam to show how likely this picture was made by a mac user.
it’s okay, we can quietly laugh as their computers are destroyed by trojans. Honestly i can care less what OS you use, but if get up on a high horse about how great Macs are and you get a trojan…you’re an idiot.
True. I’m glad there are some mac users out there that don’t brag about the thing constantly.
Maybe we really should start digging in search of unicorns…
I use both Macs and Trojans.
more likely built by someone who uses a pc… mac users don’t know what viruses are…
Anyone that thinks OSX is somehow immune to viruses is in for a “bag of hurt”, to quote Mr. Jobs, once the user base gets to a point of being on virus writer’s radar. Right now with the number of people using OSX it just isn’t worth the effort.
OS X is BSD in a party frock. Unless the user has too high a security setting, then there’s an issue. Unless Apple have seriously Borked the BSD security shell, there’s not much that one can do. There aren’t that many root-equivalent process that one can hijack. Still, I’m always pleased to hear from spreaders of F.U.D. with their news on security holes in stuff that’s been around since the 1970s…
I think Penny Arcade did a comic about Macs and viruses
Be sure to compare with how likely it was to have been made by an Ubuntu user.
…3.1. Windows 95 and up have far more, of course.
It they’re known, they’re not bugs.
They’re features.
Carry on.
Don’t tell me… the BSOD is to prevent RSI…
Windows jokes will never die, it seems.
Not as long as there’s an Internet Explorer based on Trident..
IE8 is not so bad. It is actually pretty close to webstandard.
and how long has w3 been out there?
Have you seen the javascript benchmarks?
..and since when does ‘webstandard’ mean ’18 and unrecognizable on ACID3′?
I just got a blue screen like that on my XP computer :<
If it was caused by a DVD, update your drivers.
All those bugs are user caused bugs. There comes a time when your grandma’s IBM just wont cut it.
I’m tempted to correct you and say these are using-caused bugs…
No, I only get that blue screen when I mess with the clock speeds.
Mac fanboys are truly pathetic.
the only reason that theres mac fanboys and not pc fanboys is because mac users have a reason to like what they use….pc users not so much. i would know, i’m a convert.
I have an Ubuntu Dell and a mac.
I prefer my Ubuntu Dell.
A lot.
I need someone to give me a crash course in Ubuntu. It sounds epic.
Actually it’s because they have to have something to justify paying double for the same hardware.
And, it’s hard to be a “Be in the majority! Use what everyone else does, just like me!” fanboy. Much easier to have a little counterculture group who can all get together and talk about how much smarter they are than the rest of the herd.
You don’t read Cnet much then
I can safely say I’ve read almost no Cnet.
But I know a lot about hanging out in little countercultural groups who think they are smarter than the majority.
No matter what you use, Google can OWN it.
Just throwing this out there. The only time I hear mention of arrogant mac users, it isn’t from a mac user, it’s a PC user assuming it. I use a Mac. I like it because It came with recording software and it user friendly. PC’s have better features, I’m not sure what, but they are there.
Well, of course mac users don’t think of themselves as arrogant, they think they’ve Seen The Light.
.
Me, I don’t see why anyone gets religious either for or against an OS. However, it’s very easy to thrash various windows-versions based on very rational, relevant and objective reasons. ;p
have your reasons..I’ll have my OS,and fast computer build for 1/2 price.
Price is certainly one of the more objective issues.
completely off topic, but the new Kindle 2 has been announced. it’ll ship on 24Feb(?). i ordered mine today! i love my kindle one.
any other kindle users out there?
and no, i don’t work for amazon, nor would i or anyone i know benefit in any way if anyone buys or doesn’t buy a kindle. i just love it, that’s all.
And I envy you your new toy. *sigh*
thanks, v2 just looks so nice, thinner, couple new features, better screen etc
[link]
do you own, or have you used v1?
i’ve become additced
No, it’s just one of those things I’d have if I could afford it.
Love the idea of it. Being able to carry a bunch of books around with you and only having to carry less than a pound? It’s up there with some of the stuff we were supposed to have by now. It’s the 21st century, and I still don’t have my robot maid or my flying car, but this is close enough.
Sadly, I don’t have $360 to spend on one item that’s of limited practical use. I’m assuming at some point the price will drop, or I’ll pick up a used one.
but I bet you have the silver jump suit…
down boy
start looking for the used version 1′s now. you could get a good price.
honestly, it’s not something i would have thought to buy for myself. a friend bought it for me, and now i love it.
i was going to upgrade both of us to v2 until we went over the specs and desgin changes.
It doesn’t sound like an upgrade.
exactly the conclusion that we, and a whole bunch of people posting up on amazon came to.
.
if v2 is a first time purchase, it’s still a great product and i highly recommend it.
.
balancing out the pros and cons of the changes made to v2, it’s as good as the v1, but not better.
since i already own v1, there’s no reason to buy a v2. they’re not giving current owners any incentive other than we can be put at the beginning of the list to buy v2. i think they made a huge mistake in addressing only form and not function.
nevermind. if you’ve got the kindle 1, keep it.
- they removed the sd card
- they don’t include the book cover (hard case) which is necessary to help prevent damage
- the still haven’t added the ability to categorize books, so all of your books still show up in one long list, no matter what
- screen is the same size (not an issue for me, but some people wanted bigger)
- can’t replace the battery
.
+ it’s a little thinner
+ digital ink technology now allows 16 shades of gray instead of just the 4, but i didn’t buy it for pictures, it’s for reading.
+ it does text to speech, but how good is it? don’t know
+ longer battery life
.
i decided to wait for v3 if they can actually make improvements. until then, i still love my v1.
In the words of Homer (Simpson not the Greek Guy) “Funny because it’s true”
I bet the Greek guy said it too.
Although in Greek obviously
“Αστείος επειδή είναι αληθινό”!
haha! like, thats funny, cuz its true 0_o
I’ve honestly never had any major problems with Windows. I think the problems that most people have with it are either simple technical problems (like not having enough RAM… that’s one I’ve seen a lot), or users not really understanding how to mantain a computer, and what to avoid.
SO, it’s far from the zero effort it’s sold as, that’s what you’re implying…
That’s a mighty huge blanket you have there, friend. I don’t think the problems with Windows can be summed up in those two items.
Memory management by page error is a pretty nasty method…
And everyone who goes against that don’t know what they’re doing.
The old adage of something like the only people that own Harley Davidson motorcycles are people that can afford them in both time and money.
Well to share the love, OSs have seemingly taken on route or the other. Mac (or Apple products in general) are taking the “money” route.
Windows takes the time route with required maintenance to keep you relatively clean from malware.
the *nix scene, also taking time, there’s a learning curve there that makes for a lot of nights reading man files…
These are all based off of total utilization of the OS, not just checking your email and surfing LOLsites…
I spent very little time reading man files on PC-BSD… just installing the stuff I wanted and now it runs the stuff I want…
As Tim Allen would say, “Real men don’t need instructions!”
I tend to read the instructions on the bits I have to know. I’ve spent more time with Vista help files to turn off the bloat than I have with Unix Man files…
I think it’s funny that most of you who bag on Windows know absolutely nothing about computers. I have Windows Vista and I have absolutely NO problems with it.
LMAO!!!

Oh, you’re serious..
I bet he’d have to google to find out why re-booting is called rebooting…
There are times I wish I was played by Sean Connery, so it would sound really mean when I say to his sort ‘Listen, laddie. I was doing this when you were still sucking at your mother’s tit!’
Just because YOU don’t have problems with it doesn’t mean it there’s nothing wrong with it.
There were people who found the Holocaust totally acceptable. Does that make it right? (Sorry to do the whole “bringing up the holocaust” thing, but I’m sick and medicated, and it’s the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.)
holy crap. windows vista to the holocaust in one leap and he did it without a net folks!

*graceful bow on other side of the stage*
My point is, people, that it’s become popular to bag on Windows and then the people who know NOTHING about computers complain about Windows just because of some bullshit hearsay.
And then there are ALOT of people who use Windows day in and day out and get incredibly frustrated. It’s popular to bag on Windows because of how it functions, not because of a herd mentality.
It’s popular to bag on Windows because Mac lovers like their iTunes, and they have never set foot within 50 miles of a PC.
I, however, have used a Mac, and it SUCKED.
The only problem I have is that I can’t run older software that was designed for windows 98 and ME. But that’s not vista’s fault that I don’t use newer software.
Backward compatibility would be to much to ask…
Careful, that is a touchy subject with me and my Xbox 360… I still can’t get a patch to play Stranger’s Wrath on it. *seethes with hatred*
I think I’d give that up and try and pick up a cheap Xbox…
… When I can afford to piss money away again, I will…
Strange thing… the PS2 was a more radical change in
architecture to the PS-one, than the 360 was to the Xbox,
yet Sony managed a lot more ‘backward compatibility’ for
less money…
Truly, MS does suck…
Why is this on the politics page and not lol celebs?
*That*, Detective, is the right question. Program terminated.
There have always been ghosts in the machine.
BILL GATES WHAT DOES THE SCOUTER SAY ABOUT THE ERROR LEVER?
IT’S OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!!!!!
You know, I’m surprised all the people commenting on here about the user being the real issue haven’t just shortened it to something more familiar (and infinitely more entertaining). PEBKAC. Funny shirt about it on thinkgeek.com as well. For those who don’t know, and don’t care enough to look it up on google, PEBKAC means:Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair. Customer Service technician win!
Also known as Error Code ID-10T.
Damn right it was stupid. Considering the amount of money he’s being paid by the sponsors. Those sponsors are paying him to be a roll model, so if he wants to be a ‘normal’ 23 year old and do pot like normal people, he can not get paid millions of dollars by sponsors like normal people.
Well, I suppose if he can’t be a roll model, there’s always the option to be a bun, bagel, or perhaps even a loaf model.
Seconded! Is ciabatta model open?
He would have been a panini model but he couldn’t take the pressure.
*rimshot*
Oh, I think Bill Gates is well over 23 and has enough money to do whatever he wants to.
Also, you mean role model, not roll. Unless he’s replacing the Pillsbury Doughboy.
Was this a misplaced comment [rhetorical]? I’ve heard of PK eating posts, but never randomly dropping them into other lols.
Looks like that picture was ‘shopped. Too bad if it was.
I love it how ‘ASS’ is right next to his head.
Photoshop much?
If that’s the case he’s a bigger cretin than he seemed. Case hardening Windows isn’t that hard… but it’s more faff than *nix
Glad security by obscurity is working for you so far
