I guess you didnt have any sort of witty retort for my previous comment so I’ll give you some more stuff to think about. When Pres Taft was informed that his income taxes were unconstitutional because they were direct taxes and not apportioned like it says in article 1 section 8 of the constitution, he went and proposed the 16th amendment to be able to tax people on any source of income. He proposed this and it passed because like today the government painted the rich as being evil power brokers who had all the money and needed to be brought to justice via government control. Sort of like how the news media portrays the rich today as “not paying their fair share” when they are paying almost all of the taxes as it is. The top 1% of the people in this country are those making 388,000 or more as of 2008. Those 1% pay 40% of all the taxes but they only account for 22% of the income in this country. But we still get stories about how the gap between the wealthy and the poor is so huge that the government has to step in and save the poor people from the evil rich people. And to give you a better idea of how much money they pay in taxes first try to imagine having 40% of your paycheck taken from you every week (assuming youre employed right now or have ever been). Thats what rich people go through every week… what would be considered theft under any other circumstances, of their money from them to pay for people like you and I to retire and have medicare and prescription drugs and roads to drive on and a military to defend us. Now look at the fact that the constitution says that the only thing that the government is supposed to be spending its money on (which is really the people’s money that they take from us) is defense and paying of the national debt. When you have a minute go look up the federal budget… I believe theres a wiki for it from 2008 that has a pie chart to illustrate what percentage and amount got spent on what programs. you’ll see that the military was 16.4% i think it was and the paying of interest on the national debt was like 2 or 3%. The rest of their budget (FY 2008 was the first budget passed with over 3 trillion dollars in spending and that was BEFORE the TARP money ans any bailouts were spent) went to social programs with social security taking 20% of the budget. Thats 20% of 3 trillion dollars! If you took out all the social programs and things that are unconstitutional from the budget and spent all that 3 trillion on paying of the national debt this country would be out of debt in about 5-6 years. The only other time that this country has been out of debt is under pres Jackson and he did that by selling federal land.

Oh and if you want ideas… how about we cut spending and then cut taxes instead of pandering to every person and business that is having a hard time? Since the people who make over 150,000/yr pay over 90% of the countries taxes and all. Then maybe we could raise tariffs so that goods from china arent necessarily cheaper to buy so that Americans might just have a chance to buy an american product at a competitive price? That higher tariff might also go to help the debt too.

first of all dont call me an idiot when you yourself have no solutions. Read the constitution… Article 1 section 8. It defines what the government is allowed to spend money on. In his letter to Albert Gallatin, Thomas Jefferon (you know the guy who wrote the constitution) said “Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but only those specifically enumerated.”
–Thomas Jefferson, 1817. The 9th and 10th Amendments specifically say that government has only the powers enumerated in the constitution.

It is not the federal governments job to secure and/or guarantee the success of any private company or individual. The federal government under the helm of Jimmy Carter signed the community reinvestment act which (in case you hadnt heard) is what forced mortgage lenders to give loans to people who couldnt afford a house. That took years to actually cause a problem and the day it started to become a problem those foreclosures started to affect the other homes values around them. I live in NC and in my area the price of homes went up in the 4th quarter here. But I digress… with over 95% of all mortgages being paid on time the media and government are blowing this out of proportion and bailing out or loaning money to people who made poor decisions in the first place. Money that the government isn’t allowed to spend according to the constitution.

Pres Bush said in 2001 and 2004 that fannie mae and freddie mac were going to be a problem. In 2004 the senate banking committee brought up a way to change the way fannie and freddie did business and possibly head off a lot of this mess but the 8 democrats on the 16 member panel voted against the changes so it failed in committee. Then we have barney frank saying that he thought “we were looking at 2 more or less sound institutions”… then hey look what happens … 4 years later and it all comes apart and we find out that some of those 8 democrats were taking money from fannie mae and freddie mac.

The stock market tumbles when banks who loaned fannie and freddie money start to have problems and go under (why werent they bailed out???) or be bought out. Then the messiah gets elected and says he plans to spend a trillion dollars and the stock market falls even farther. When that whole BS Tarp plan (again unconstitutional and a bad idea) the stock market fell 6%. When obama took office the stock market took a 12% dive… its lost more points since obama has been unveiling his plans than it ever did during Bush.

So if you are done calling people names why dont you come up with some ideas instead of being an infantile jerk?

much like the 8 years of bullshit we had to listen to about Bush? From “He’s not my president” to complaints about deficit spending and the tax cuts “costing too much”. Then the democrats take back over and what do they do? they spend more money than this country spent its first 200 years in existence in 1 month! I could give a damn about mccain losing. He wasnt any better than obama policy wise so its 6 of one half dozen of the other. What pisses me off is that people back obama for one of 3 main reasons. 1) hes a democrat 2) hes black 3) they hate republicans. The problem I have with that is that you are voting for the leader of this country based on who’s the better looking candidate or who has a D or an R behind their name not on the actual policies they want to implement. No its not all your fault either … youve been force fed the news from the left for your entire lives and you actually think that government control is a good thing. There was a gallup ( i think) poll out that said that people were in favor of nationalized health care and other services but were also afraid of government controlling their lives. I blame the public schools.

The problem is he tends to make grand blanket statments because he just wants the problem solved and never wants to deal with it again. In our house, it was my Mum’s idea (My head was “too full of hobbits” apparently) and Dad just went along with it. The book-sized space between the ottoman and the wall saved me there. Lol.
They thought about it again later but my kindly teacher insisted that they didn’t.
And yeah, I homework’s not my top priority. I had Captain Corelli’s Mandolin labelled as “the book I failed higher maths for” but then I didn’t fail so twas all good.
