To infinite tax dodgers, and beyond !!!

    • Chigou says:

      oh, and er…….. FIRST !!!

*Runs away from first-hater mob again*

      • slan agat says:

The name of the state of Connecticut comes from the Algonquin word meaning “big, noisy river.” thus, the Connecticut River is the Big Noisy River River.

      • Grumpy Curmugeon says:

FAIL! You included actual content in your “First” post, thereby making it relevant, not trolling.
You, sir (or madam) fail at being an “FIRST!” troll. If you keep this up, there is a terrible danger of you becoming a useful, productive member of society. So for heaven’s sake, do it right next time!

      • HDL_CinC_Dragon says:

Yeah Chigou. You should be ashamed of yourself! Making worthwhile posts… what is this world coming to?

    • Kathryn in MA says:

Heh. Keep it up and we’ll be out of this recession in no time. Next up, nominate from UBS clientele.

  2. Evertide says:

This is not a “first” comment. Continue posting normally. Also, I don’t think I get it.

  3. AC says:

    A cheery fellow you are…

    • Jane St.Clair says:

I am intrigued by Bob’s notion that Obama pulled a David Copperfield like magic trick on the public consciousness and tricked us into believing the economy is failing. No, no, silly people. You didn’t lose your job, it was a trick by Obama! You’re still gainfully employed and in no danger of losing your house, DON’T BELIEVE THE LIE!

      • Danbala says:

And he managed to dupe the whole world into believeing there was a dire crisis, and he’d done all that even before being elected, basically. Maybe there is some reason to ascribe him some god-like attributes after all. :p

      • rhorho says:

@Jane: “…that Obama pulled a David Copperfield like magic trick on the public consciousness and tricked us into believing the economy is failing.”

  4. B-79 says:

Better the money spent on social reform to improve your own country than billions of dollars invading Iraq for…?

  5. rnwen says:

Tell me, when Bush wanted to spend billions in Iraq and in international corporations, did you blink?

I love that when we start investing in our own country, it’s called socialism.

    Jon Stewart was right.

    • rhorho says:

I know a fun game! Why don’t we ask Mister Bob exactly how Bush
didn’t lead our troops needlessly to slaughter? I would love to hear another
      meaningless justification for that quagmire.

Bob seems to believe that changing the “American” destruction of our own, tackling the problems within the black community, and seeking to soften
the hit our nation faces economically is somehow bad for us.

Mwen, perhaps you can help me. I’m having trouble understanding Bob.

For starters, exactly *what* needs to stay the same???

    • Uncle Fester says:

Actually, since the Americans have a nasty habit of charging the people they ‘liberate’ (or ‘help’ in wars) it’s more ‘business by other means’

    • BattleCry says:

Ok, let’s analyze what you just said. “Invest in America”. In order to call it investing, there has to be an expected return. Now, not all returns are monetary. In Government there is a thing called social return. For example, as a society we benefit greatly from people receiving a good education. It leads to less crime, higher pay, better quality of life etc etc.

However, this spending package does not assure any kind fo return, economic or otherwise. The TARP package did nothing to stem the downturn in the economy and it was actually applied to the wound directly. It wasn’t 4 billion dollars going to a pool for entities like ACORN which is about as valiant as the French in front of a German advance.

There is no real return coming from this money. It is totally temporary and the long term effects of it will be far more devestating than any good it will do in the short term.

      • rhorho says:

The following is from Fact Check, linked behind my name.

        McCain: The ACORN Fables

In another attempt to paint groups and people with whom Obama has some connection in as unsavory a light as possible, McCain has gone after the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. And we’ve gone after him, for an ad accusing the group of “massive voter fraud” and for saying in the final presidential debate that ACORN is “now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy.”

Both claims are breathtakingly inaccurate. There’s a huge difference between voter fraud and voter registration fraud. And while ACORN, which hires part-time, $8-an-hour canvassers to go door-to-door and register people to vote, has had widespread problems with phony registrations invented by employees who don’t want to work, the problem has never been that it sent people to the polls using bogus identities or to vote in any other fraudulent manner. Even the Republican prosecutor of the largest ACORN case to date said the shenanigans of ACORN workers were “not intended to permit illegal voting.”

To be sure, Obama’s interactions with the group have been greater than he has let on. But whether those ties can accurately be called “long and deep,” as McCain’s ad claims, is highly questionable.

ACORN, itself, separated questionable voter registration forms, and
turned them in FLAGGED as such. Your effort to equate ACORN
with corruption indicates your lack of motivation to know the truth of the matter. You don’t question anything you hear that is consistent with
what you *want* to hear, and it shows. Very little is as black and white
as you wish it to be.

  6. Multi-Facets says:

    (laughing helplessly) You guys ROCK.

  7. immrlizard says:

With as many folks being caught owing taxes, I wouldn’t be against mandatory tax checks on them every year. No wonder we come up so short on taxes.

  8. Char says:

If Obama keeps nominating people, the Government will probably get enough in unpaid taxes to counter the stimulus plan. :)

  9. Paul Engler says:

Man… that caption had nothing to do with the picture, at all.
If it were a little more clever, the hating wouldn’t seem as blatant.

  10. colonelpopcorn says:

    Still funny.

  11. clamboy says:

This “lol” (using the term quite loosely) must be the illustration next to the text definition of “meh”.

  12. bobbintb says:

that caption makes no sense. im still scratching my head trying to figure out what he’s trying to say.

    • rnwen says:

It took me a bit to decide whether it was really offensive or not because I couldn’t figure out what it meant. I feel it suffers from grammar clarity fail. The way I see it is they are saying that everyone Obama nominated for things had not paid back taxes, but did once they were nominated. So, if he keeps nominating, all of the people who owe back taxes will eventually “pay up.”

  13. slaggingham says:

    The process is:

    1. Don’t pay taxes.
    2. Get informed that you’re being considered for nomination.
    3. Pay your unpaid taxes.
    4. Get nominated.
    5. Media looks into your tax history.
    6. Scandal.
    7. ????
    8. Profit.

  14. Uncle Fester says:

Actually, no, since most of the Palin stuff was ongoing and buried until after the election, where as the tax evasion stuff was done and dusted well before the election or even their selection was considered…
    -
God’s death, there are some idiots with access to technology….

  15. PortlandMark says:

    [LINK]

I assume you already know about Palin’s ongoing tax problems right? Can you imagine what fun we’d be having if she was already VP and this stuff was still coming out?!?

  16. Musicmom870 says:

I don’t think Cheney was responsible for vetting Palin.

  17. No one interesting says:

    Eff off, jerkwad :)
Have a fine day one-hand typing, now!

  18. Jane St.Clair says:

If Unc is typing one-handed that can only mean that some poor soul is getting the life choked out of them.

  19. Uncle Fester says:

Thank you, sockette, for the reasoned response. I think you’ve proved all I wanted proving…
Come, prance some more to amuse the grown ups…

  20. Uncle Fester says:

    you know me too well…

  21. No one else interesting says:

Oh yeah, some poor thing is definitely getting the life choked out of it

  22. No one interesting says:

    You’re funny!

  23. Jane St.Clair says:

*massages bruised larynx* I try to make mistakes only once.

  24. pittypat says:

“It is generally inadvisable to eject directly over the
area you just bombed.” – U.S. Air Force Manual

  25. BattleCry says:

Ah yes, and Obama was massively overqualified. Don’t try to create an intelligent debate over candidates that are so similiar in one area. simply say, “I’m a liberal, I don’t like Palin, I like Obama.” Trying to rationalize the difference between a rock and a stone is just silly.

  26. someguy says:

Perhaps the best directly applicable response in recent memory…
