It took me a bit to decide whether it was really offensive or not because I couldn’t figure out what it meant. I feel it suffers from grammar clarity fail. The way I see it is they are saying that everyone Obama nominated for things had not paid back taxes, but did once they were nominated. So, if he keeps nominating, all of the people who owe back taxes will eventually “pay up.”

McCain: The ACORN Fables

In another attempt to paint groups and people with whom Obama has some connection in as unsavory a light as possible, McCain has gone after the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. And we’ve gone after him, for an ad accusing the group of “massive voter fraud” and for saying in the final presidential debate that ACORN is “now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy.”

Both claims are breathtakingly inaccurate. There’s a huge difference between voter fraud and voter registration fraud. And while ACORN, which hires part-time, $8-an-hour canvassers to go door-to-door and register people to vote, has had widespread problems with phony registrations invented by employees who don’t want to work, the problem has never been that it sent people to the polls using bogus identities or to vote in any other fraudulent manner. Even the Republican prosecutor of the largest ACORN case to date said the shenanigans of ACORN workers were “not intended to permit illegal voting.”

To be sure, Obama’s interactions with the group have been greater than he has let on. But whether those ties can accurately be called “long and deep,” as McCain’s ad claims, is highly questionable.

ACORN, itself, separated questionable voter registration forms, and
turned them in FLAGGED as such. Your effort to equate ACORN
with corruption indicates your lack of motivation to know the truth of the matter. You don’t question anything you hear that is consistent with
what you *want* to hear, and it shows. Very little is as black and white
as you wish it to be.

Ok, let’s analyze what you just said. “Invest in America”. In order to call it investing, there has to be an expected return. Now, not all returns are monetary. In Government there is a thing called social return. For example, as a society we benefit greatly from people receiving a good education. It leads to less crime, higher pay, better quality of life etc etc.

However, this spending package does not assure any kind fo return, economic or otherwise. The TARP package did nothing to stem the downturn in the economy and it was actually applied to the wound directly. It wasn’t 4 billion dollars going to a pool for entities like ACORN which is about as valiant as the French in front of a German advance.

There is no real return coming from this money. It is totally temporary and the long term effects of it will be far more devestating than any good it will do in the short term.

It is a shame that commenters would equate someone who did not know your rules, site-usage normals and inside jokes with someone who was denigrating your religion or politics or just being a mean spirited jerk.
If I knew making jokes was called being a troll, I’d naver have done it. From what I was reading here that was the best way to start out — make some jokes, funny commentary and then start talking about politics.

I did not do anything wrong except make a joke and word something a little wrong; I DIDN’T say that of which I was accused and I can not understand why some people are being rude just because someone else offended them by using polite “ms.” language.
I went back and read as was suggested to me to do, and here’s what I saw: most people here are happiest when they have a new person make a statement so that they can attack that person and make them go away. Lots of you here jump on that person; you interpret statements that aren’t against your beliefs as being so, so you accuse people of being underhanded when the’yre really not. It is pretty sad, really, since I thought people who said they are liberals are supposed to be open and accepting for new people and their ideals. Perhaps I am wrong there.
