Believe that he shared the writers beliefs if you want to. The truth is, what he is guilty of is lending out his name without reading everything that is printed under it before publishing. Back before I finished my education and landed a real career, I made around 20k working fast food to pay for school. I was working my ass off and I hated welfare more then than I do now. I make a pretty decent wage now, and I don’t mind giving some to those less fortunate.

I still hate the way welfare is distributed, as I know at least one person personally who collects that certainly don’t deserve it. He lives at home and lets his addict girlfriend spend all of his welfare money on heroin, meanwhile being too fscking lazy to get a job.

To be fair, it’s an easy cop for a Swede – it’s “privilegium” in Swedish, and we pronounce it in a way that makes it quite, quite clear which vowel goes where.

My grandfather grew up in a hideous one-room shack (no toilet, no plumbing, etc.) with ten siblings on a tobacco farm to a drunken Blackfoot dad and a beaten-down mom. He did extra chores for people after his picking was done so he could earn a pair of shoes so that he could walk to a better school (long way each way.) When he was 17 he lied about his age to get into the Navy and left his siblings (who were already turning into big old drunks and wifebeaters, drinking moonshine out of Ball Jars)and his miserable life, got an education, married a New England woman (he must have thought it was a social step up and for him it was, but they were Canadian immigrants and not much loved in that region for it.) and they settled in Jersey while he built up a very respectable and profitable (honest) electrical contractor’s business. It’s a long way to go, and he was not the most erudite guy, but he made a nice life for his daughter and grandkids.

He didn’t have any patience for people who wouldn’t work, that’s for sure. He worked round the clock sometimes. He still voted liberal, always did. Musta had that old idea of the Southern Gentleman Liberal, which doesn’t really exist anymore, does it? The Zell Milners, etc?

Every year we had those stupid signs on our lawn for the Democrat mayor or blah blah.
