not funny at all
Prescient, though. Barack Gump.
Hmmmm….
And Dropulus gets it in 1. I knew I recognized this one.
“Run Forest RUN.”
lolz!
LOL. I doubt it though; he knows exactly what he’s doing. It’s positively diabolical.
Well…. I think he knows that he doesn’t know what he’s doing.
KnowwhutImean?
I think it’s cool that he’s got worn out shoes….means he’s a hard worker, not overly concerned with stupid bullshit like buying shoes! Also, as a former shoe store employee I can tell by studying his heel that the President supinates…I do that too
.
no, this is what America will look like when he’s done with it!
whats supinates?
Well, after all, he was running for all of two years..
Run, Barack, Run!
“The White House is like a box of chocolates”
Hah, well played! (Careful who you say that around, though, it could been seen as racist.
)
Meh. What can’t, these days?
…anything brown…
…good, good…now say it with a south Chicago accent ( examples: the phrase ‘black man’ would now be ‘pronounced ‘blake mane’ and ‘not guilty’ would now be ‘naw gilly’, and feel free to add ‘muthafukah’ and ‘sheet’ to everything…from salutations to shopping lists)…
Uh, you must be from someplace other than the Midwest, cause South-Side Chicagoans don’t sound like that.
You can tell he’s working hard? How did this make it?
*cough* heathersucksd*ck *cough*
She does get a bunch of first-pagers, huh? o_o
What was that Jane? It sounds like you have a tickle there in the back of your throat…
Yes, stuck pubic hairs do have tendency to make one cough as one strives to expell them.
You sound like a man with experience…….
That’s what the ladies tell me when they’re finished.
You sound like a woman who’d like to accept the fuzzy throat challenge.
That’s the most disgusting thing I’ve ever heard. And no. I’m not.
-
I bet the ladies point and giggle when you remove your pants, too.
Ah yes, the classic dick insult as reaction to inability to respond with maturity. And yet you continue to interact with me. Methinks thou dost protest too much.
Disgusted, yet aroused, yet…aroused.
Offer stands.
You’re the one who used the smooth cerebellum comment the other day…
I liked that comment.
Ah yes, the classic dick insult as reaction to inability to respond with maturity.
This was a very strange summary of a conversation that
M.c: “she sucks dick”
f: “so do you”
M.c: “suck my dick”
f: “too small, can’t find it”
.
Exactly where is this “maturity” you refer to?
That should be “… conversation that went like: ”
A gnome ate my words. :/
Danbala, you make me smile.
Damn gnomes! Squash them with a boot!
Yay! I’m happy to be able to entertain someone!
Actually – now that I reread what Mike’s cerebrum actually wrote, he’s saying he is unable to respond with maturity. I totally misread it, and my question to him is therefore void. (I’d still say I summarized the convo well. ;p)
That he’s a hard worker … or that he’s cheap. That’s for you to decide!
… or that his image consultant guys are trying to ape Eugene McCarthy’s famous campaign photo…
That’s 2 … you’re good!
Or that he really, really, really hates shopping.
That’s what I’m thinking. Plus, those are leather-soled–expensive! I’m sure they look good when he’s standing up, but he really needs to send some flunky to get them resoled.
As frugal as he is, maybe he just doesn’t have a second pair quite so snazzy in the uppers, to wear while the others are being re-soled.
You know that a new pair of shoes never feels as good on the feet as the old broken-in pair. Maybe he just likes his feet to be comfy!
Seems valid to me.
Good bed, comfortable shoes… essentials of life, since, on average, if you’re not in one you’re in the other…
The two are mutually exclusive my friend
I thought the same thing. Oops, does that make me your sock?
It’s about tone, not views, that makes for socks. Even a clock that doesn’t work matches with the true time twice a day. LOL And no, that wasn’t a personal attack calling you a dead clock, before you get defensive.
F*** tone. Deal with SUBSTANCE for a minute, why don’t you? That is something the left never EVER seems to get. Tone. Jesus. That’s worse than griping about socks.
You are just helping to perpetuate Hah!’s statement. Anniee, do yourself a favor and don’t try to help prove that women can be intelligent. They can be, and many are, but you are not.
She meant tone as in style of writing. As in, we can usually spot a sock because they have the exact same grammar, word choice, and yes political views as another poster. Honestly, how do you make it through your day without bouncing off of inanimate objects?
Now, Jane, that’s insulting to those of us who manage to run into at least one inanimate object a day! Clumsy people have rights, too, ya know….
me and the huge bruise on my ass from tripping down the basement stairs agree with diss.
I don’t even have to trip. I just back into things. Man, that hurts!
my bruise and i are on week 3… it’s still a lovely purple/blue shade. it doesn’t help that i’m naturally super pale though.
the stares i got on the beach 2 weeks ago were priceless though. i’m sure everyone thought the gay friend i was there with was an abusive boyfriend…
No, you just *think* they do – FFS it all sounds the same to you people, much like leftism all sounds the same to me. You lot can’t even distinguish between Rush Limbaugh, a neo-con, and a libertarian – but I *assure* you, just because all penguins look alike to us doesn’t mean they can’t tell one ANOTHER apart. So how about clamming up your piehole and letting the people talk to each other once in a while? Just because YOU think they’re one person doesn’t mean they are, and it’s pretty idiotic to sit there interrupting all the time just to tell them they’re not real. How dumb is that?
Oh hardy-frickin’-har. 8-}
*rolls eyes*
If we’ve tried to explain it once, we’ve tried to explain it a million times:
Yes, the brain lives inside the head, but it’s the head between a person’s shoulders, not the one on the end of a male person’s protruding organ.
he didnt struggle as a black man, haha, the fact that he’s black made it a cake-walk for him to be elected.
Unless you’re trying to show he’s in touch with reality, the middle class etc. by wearing his shoes more than once, this one is crass…
I always thought that shot of his shoes betrayed a hard-working, frugal, substantive (as opposed to superficial) guy.
So the caption makes a fair amount of sense, even if it does reach Dane Cook levels of the unfunny.
betrayed or portrayed?
They’re basically synonyms in this usage – but I like betray because of the passive use here.
is it possible to be that unfunny?
no, it’s not.
Oh no! He doesn’t have shoes in pristine condition!
Come on now. Seriously.
It’s not meant as an insult. Try again.
lol – the politically “correct” have had a lot of practice being offended. I gather it’s not that easy to come out of “defensive” mode.
“Politically correct” means never having to admit you were stupidly offensive.
Aw, that’s cute. Unfortunately it’s nonsense considering the ridiculous levels PC has been taken to. Drumming up false “offense” is no better than being offensive on purpose.
Bullshit. Accusations of “political correctness” are the last refuge of offensive boors who haven’t got the guts to own up and apologize.
He’s cheap?
Wait…I thought he was horribly elitist? Someone needs to check his talking points…
Aaaak! A horribly cheap elitist! The worst kind…
Not Really…
A horribly elite cheapist?
Only the best Goodwills and Salvation Armies will do.
You know, they used to say you could get better stuff at Goodwill if you went ton ones in richer areas…then I found out that they take all the donations from all the areas and mix them up and redistribute them. What kind of socialist bullshit is that???
Just gotta look carefully. I’ve found $350 shoes, $2000 suits, and $100 slacks at Goodwills. Just have to be persistent, know your manufacturers, and be willing to do some tailoring.
Not Really
Eh? The overlap between “elitist” and “cheap” is HUGE.
my mother always told me not to put my shoes on the table. So my reaction was more “D: stop that you’ll get in trouble” ah the things that last into adulthood
I thought that the rule was if you put them on the table before you’ve worn them they would hurt your feet.
nope, simply that it is terrible luck to put shoes on a table, ever. on your feet, off them, muddy or clean it doesn’t matter.
Yes, horrible luck because my mother would kick my ass for leaving shoes on her table…
We never left shoes on any table. Perhaps we knew that certain
death by ass kicking would quickly follow.
My mom had triangulation fail. No matter where shoes were left,
to her, they were always left “in the middle of the floor.” Pointing
out to her that the shoes were not “in the middle” never met with
any gratitude, either…
My mother was an ingrate too.
“I thought that the rule was if you put them on the table before you’ve worn them they would hurt your feet.”
`
When I was growing up, the rule was that if I put my shoes on the table EVER, Mom and Dad would hurt my ass, but everybody’s family is a little different.
Hahaha his shoes are cheap cuz he’s black and black people cant afford good shoes lolololololz.
^sarcasm
No, this craption is utter FAIL.
Na, it’s a Gumpism!
“My momma always said you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes, where the go, where they’ve been. I’ve worn lots of shoes, I bet if I think about it real hard I can remember my first pair of shoes.”
My baaaaad.
*crawls into corner*
LOL I didn’t recognize it either until Republican Troll left his eommettn.
LOL! I suck at this.
comment
“Mama said they’d take me anywhere. She said they were my magic shoes.”
“Moma told me not to come. She said, that ain’t the way to have fun, son”
“My Momma told me you better shop around.”
“Momma said there’d be days like this, there’d be days like this, my momma said.”
“Poppa loved Mama,
Mama loved men,
Mama’s in the graveyard,
Papa’s in the pen.”
Yo mama.
lolz knee-jerk racism
srsly? this is a craption, not a caption.
yeah its not especially funny or unfunny… dont know how it made the front page.
Jealous? You can suck mine if you want!
Really? Do you have directions or am I going to need Mapquest to find it?
Tweezers and a magnifying glass?
Voice of experience, Robert?
Oh, you know it. Not only am I gay, but I like tiny dicks, too.
Jeez.
Actually, I have no beef with you…but it was way too good to pass up.
She must have jaw muscles like a snapping turtle, she’s got a LoL on the front page almost once a day, sometimes several in a day! That’s a lot of sausage sucking.
Wow, the bitter is strong in this one.
It’s pretty strong with me, too.
TOO SOON!!!!11!!ELEVEN!!!
Yup. We need to wait 22 and a half years before it’s funny…
You mean 9/11 isn’t funny yet?
…oops
He still has sole.
But I doubt if he’s a heel.
He’s been toeing the mark.
And is always instep with what laces society together.
You’d better watch your tongue when it comes to shoe puns. I’m not one to flip-flop.
Please tell me that was the last.
You’re such a sole man, slan.
Don’t tread on him!
But he is still an arch nemesis.
Not to me, he’s as great as Paul Bunion.
Watch those puns before you get booted.
The puns are better than the caption. At least they’re amusing.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m working hard on the puns. I’m not a loafer.
Stilletto us not get too corny.
Can I wedge in with my opinion?
Yes, but nothing sandal-ous please..
Yes, don’t be like those scandalous athlete’s.
Agh! Those birkenstocks, always getting the upper on us..
He does have quite a platform to stand upon.
He reminds me of my ankle Bob.
I don’t suppose I could per-suede you to stop before you clog the site with puns.
Better’n being clogged with rightwing wingtips.
Huarache stomping around about now?
He’s a shoo-in for the history books.
But he’s not a soldier.
How you perceive this will totally be skewed by your worldview.
I approve.
This is true. If I were Muslim, I would be entirely offended by this picture. I’m not, so I’m just offended that lameness once again makes its mark on this formerly brilliant comedy site.
*SIGH*
why cant there be any pictures of obama with funny captions? and why cant there be a pic with a hammer and a sickle? THAT would be entertainment at its best if that showed up on ICHC. o yea… possible copyright infringement… *sigh* dont attack me for saying any of that because the people of america have freedom of speech.
It’s freedom of speech, not “immunity from being attacked for making idiotic statements”, moron. Equating dissenting opinions with attempts at restricting your speech is paranoid and rather Limbaughian.
*snort*
-
I had almost the extact same thing on my mind, but you said it so much better!
*exact*
Limbaughian? Why, it’s the point-of-view of every slogan-shouting Moore-on I’ve ever run over. Er, across.
The fact that it’s ALSO the point-of-view of every slogan-shouting dittohead is only half of the story.
Important difference you’re overlooking between Michael Moore and Rush Limbaugh: Democrats don’t have to grovel out apologies for dissing Moore.
Which is the party of ideas and individualism again?
Well, when you say something ridiculous and untrue, you generally apologize. Also, Republicans apologize whether they need to or not, all the time. It’s infuriating, but it is what it is.
when you say something ridiculous and untrue, you generally apologize
Evidently you don’t.
You continue to rock.
*golf claps*
I thought the word was “Limbaughesque.” Shows what I know!
No, the word is “Rushan.”
No, the word is “Asshatitarian.”
and i should care because…? i just said “dont attack me for saying any of that because the people of america have freedom of speech.” i didnt mean it that way, Mr. High and Mighty. what i meant was, ‘DONT WASTE YOUR TIME COMMENTING SAYING STUFF THAT PEOPLE DONT GIVE CRAP ABOUT’. it is actually called reading between the lines! you should try it.
HAHAHAHA YOU THINK THE SICKLE AND HAMMER IS COPYRIGHTED.
I suppose it is refreshing to see a president that threads on grubby streets not just plush carpeted hallways.
ummm……. the mean streets of, um, Hawaii?
Haven’t you seen Magnum P.I.?
Or, LOL, Hawaii 5-0?
Classic!
That moustache alone could easily rub holes in leather-bottomed shoes.
Hell yeah it could!
Yeah, no mean streets in Chicago…
Yes, but he didn’t GROW UP there
Yes, but we’re talking about the shoes in the photo (above).
Those shoes were purchased after his growing up years, partly in
Kansas, Hawaii and Indonesia.
South Side Chicago = mean streets = worn out shoes
He has a hole in his sole (soul)?
No, but he has a hole in his mind.
In Valen’s Name.
He is purple. We are green. Green fights purple.
It’s not easy being green.
I have a theory that, rather like Godwin’s Law, there is a strange attractor to Start Trek and Babylon 5 quotes in the drift of internet chat fora
And it’s been killin’ me forever?
Obscure 80s rock reference ftl, I know.
Isn’t it an obscure 90′s rock reference? And since when is Aerosmith obscure?
A girl can dream can’t she?
Not only 90′s, but I think even into the mid 90′s, ’95 or ’96.
From the 9 Lives album to be precise. I like Aerosmith a lot.
you can tell if they are willing to pay $100,000 for something as simple as shoes
Um…he buys cheap shoes? All he does is run (never stopping to DO the job)? Mama spouted more than one meaningless platitude, though.
he certainly didn’t wear them out walking to W O R K since the pathetic communist has never had an actual J O B
That’s what I was just saying
He runs all the time, but never stops to do the job. Of course he’s doing one now – and it’s a doozy! Holy crap, is it a doozy! I really wasn’t sure he had it in him, but he’s doing it all real quick before the general public catches on. (Not that the publikly edumakated have the wherewithal to really catch on anymore, but dang. I’m kind of impressed – if only it weren’t so horrible.)
hey hey hey … he did work for 2 summers at a law office during college now come on. And Im sure he had to walk to his job in the senate for the roughly 2 years he spent actually attending it.
Well we all know about Hillary’s internship for card-carrying communists – I haven’t read about Obama’s internship yet. Doesn’t much matter at this point.
That might not be clear – internship WITH would probably be clearer.
oh I got the pikshur dont worrie… also what is your Icon? It looks like a face on it but other than that its kinda freaky looking
It’s a dumbo octopus – a rather recent discovery in the sea
They’re actually pretty cute.
Joe McCarthy called. He wants his paranoia back.
Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you. McCarthy had nothing on this new crew. Link
By the way, that’s news from the left, not the right. Those sources I allegedly don’t read. They don’t see anything weird about enemies lists or knocking on doors to map out who is and isn’t dissenting (already gave that link) or Watergate-style conferences at 8:45 every morning.
Wake up, folks. A new day really is dawning and you’re going to get exactly what you demanded. Whether or not you’re going to like it is another matter.
Will there be pie in this new day? If there’s pie then they can do whatever the hell they want. But no cake. The cake is a lie.
“But no cake. The cake is a lie.”
`
Not a possibility. Apparently, someone left the cake out in the rain.
Good. Stupid cake was a lie. But the pie is truth. There’s truth in that pie. Check the recipe.
I’ll never have that recipe again, oooohh nooooo!!
Well, I was told there would be punch and pie.
Not punch–Kool-Aid!
How about a nice Hawaiian Punch?
Racist! Hawaiians aren’t overtly aggressive. Perhaps STLs are projecting?
Hey! St. Louisans aren’t racist! Wait, yes, we are. Well, I’m not racist! Blame the rest of the rednecks living here. I just want some damn Hawaiian Punch. *sobs*
Nicely played, sir. I defer to your superior deflection skills.
*bows deeply*
Go home.
So you see nothing McCarthyesque, or Nixonesque, or Clinton “War Room”esque or ANYTHING weird in that? That, or the Civilian National Defense, or the MAPPING OF DISSENTERS by ground troops who are to go knocking on doors (AFTER they sign a pledge supporting Obama)?
That all just sounds hunky junky dory to you?
YOU f***ing go home then, you communist asshat. Because if YOU don’t see anything threatening in any of that, you’re an IDIOT.
Oh, wait a minute…I just said that to someone who calls himself freaking MAO.
LMAO – MAO! MAO doesn’t see anything ominous or Orwellian in any of that (it’s not really Orwellian because it’s all being done openly, but still) – well shiver me timbers. MAO thinks it’s all a grand ol’ experiment in “giving power back to the people” – in other words, “Communism”. What a freaking shock.
Go to freaking sleep, moron.
Giving power back to the people – in other words, DEMOCRACY. Rather than the twisted plutocracy/theocracy hybrid we’ve had in the recent past.
It’s a nickname for “Mallory” because my friends are lazy.
Go home.
Anniee, did you READ the link you posted?
Politico is not a “from the left” source, it’s a moderate-to-right source. That columnist is notoriously right wing in particular. And even so, while he mentions FORMER Clinton people participating in the morning conferences, there are no CURRENT government employees on it – it’s a meeting of interest groups no different from any of your conservative think tanks or PACs.
You’ve forgotten to take your medication again.
Don’t forget all that valuable community organizin’! Sure glad he had all that experience before attempting to run the most complex economic engine in the entire world.
He’s still doing that. We’ve got the Civilian National Defense (to be better armed than the army) and he’s called upon the public hordes to map out dissenters before they can make waves already – Link. The ACORN zombie army approaches to knock on doors – you know what to do
didnt someone else try that already? Oh yeah the Nazis… how soon we forget.
I am prepared for the zombie apocalypse Ive played left4dead quite a bit… lots of guns and pipe bombs.
Wow… Godwin’s law took a bit to kick in, here. I’m impressed.
Wow, you really love the Wang. It loves you too but not that way.
I’m sorry, the Wang loves you dearly, not queerly. Quit calling his house lathered in sweat.
This generation is bound and determined NOT to learn from history, but only by smashing their heads into brick walls, shin0bi. So long as they don’t come crying to me, it’s all the same; I’m prepared.
I’ve just decided that based on the last horrible 8 years of my life, the right wing isn’t allowed to talk for at least the first 100 days if presidential office.
of.
I meant of.
And **I** decided that based on (LINK) the left NEVER gets to lecture me again on RACISM, MISOGYNY, FASCISM, or anything else. EVER again.
It will become obvious why when you see the video.
F*** your 50 day Obomination who has already tripled the national debt.
You keep getting that wrong: Budget deficit =/= national
debt. But you’re the economic whiz. Uh huh.
But she makes no mention of the Bush era destroying the budget surplus we had during the Clinton administration…
Interesting.
budget surplus =/= the absence of national debt… and 9/11 pretty much screwed anything that clinton left for bush to use… remember how the markets reacted that day?
I do! But my memory is longer than last week, so that helps.
And are we really gonna start on deficit spending after Obama’s first 50 days of Spend-O-Rama?
Name another way to soften the blow,
Hoover.
Actually, Hoover was big on spending, taxation, and protectionism. But, since you asked, how about dropping taxes on businesses and families, but businesses have money to pay employees and citizens have money to dump into the industries? At the rate we’re going, we’re headed for stagflation/malaise in a big, nasty way.
In every regard except for disastrously high
tariffs, Hoover was widely criticized for not
doing enough to soften a similar crisis, and it
would behoove us not to repeat his mistakes.
95% of us will experience lower taxes, so
that’s already done. We’re already in a big,
nasty situation. How to take the *most*
sting out of it is the question.
Except that 95% of us won’t have lower taxes if he succeeds w/this Cap n’ Trade scheme. And I still think letting everyone keep more of their money would benefit the economy as a whole. I’d prefer my employer not get taxed into oblivion, quite frankly. There’s also the issue that the economy has changed radically in the last 80 years.
How do you think the greenhouse gas cap
and emissions trading scheme will harm
us? In the long run, it will kick us in the
collective ass, and get us moving towards
green energy alternatives, which are already
being promoted via budget proposals. The
revenue generated will offset the necessary
R&D costs, and tax credits to individuals and
small businesses are planned. We will see
lower taxes in the meantime, and tax credits
in the future, once the plan is underway.
Well, if you believe that CO2 is a major greenhouse gas, then basically you’re allowing people to pay to pollute. If you don’t, it’s basically just a way to choke industry and limit production. We already have a perfectly good carbon-neutral energy source-it’s called nuclear power.
I watched the first minute or two of that (7 minute) video and turned it off. I have no idea what the hell point you were trying to get across with that. It’s a video of a woman calmly and coherently explaining why Limbaugh is a raving lunatic. And….?
Actually, you needed to go a bit further into it. Not that I agree with everything that was being said, but basically it was an attack on the type of women who enjoy listening to Limbaugh. Again, I’m not a huge fan of Rush (even though at one time I was), but some of the comment being made were just wrong. For example, Janene Garafolo says, “The type of women that like Rush are the same one’s that fall in love with prisoners.” And Olberman sitting there nodding and smiling like she’s some sort of expert. Watching both of them together was rather gut wrenching. Garafolo for her smugness and Olberman for his sheer stupidity. But then, “our side” has the likes of Rush, Michael Savage, and Bill O’Reilly, so I guess the other side is allowed as well.
I think the fact that I hated everyone in the video (what I saw of it) is what really caused me to turn it off. I think Garafolo and Olberman are both a bit idiotic, and I would prefer they not speak at all!
I didn’t watch all of it either, just enough to get the gist. I would rather have an auger through the skull then watch Garafalo and Olberman interact again.
I’m not sure if Rush really belongs in the same category as Savage or O’Reilly. Savage is just an angry MF-er with all the self restraint of a baby with a shotgun (I think he might be bipolar, truthfully). O’Reilly is more of a Populist/Traditionalist, which puts him much closer to the Center than Rush. Rush is a satirist, and our society seems to have little, if any, understanding of Satire anymore. It’s really a shame.
Well, the only problem is that a large majority of his listeners take Rush seriously and preach back anything he says as gospel. If it’s supposed to be satire, they don’t get it. What’s to be done about all those easily fooled/indoctrinated dittoheads?
I’m not even sure how to address that. Rush is a commentator who often uses satire to make his points. That doesn’t make his points irrelevatne or invalid. It does, however, allow nits like Keith Olberman or Chris Matthews to take what he says ragingly out of context and try to paint him as some sort of bogeyman. The people who listen to Rush aren’t so much indoctrinated as they are people who agree (or disagree) with him and want a forum where they can bounce there own ideas off of his ideas to better understand why they believe what they do.
So that’s why you get people in here and elsewhere repeating his talking points verbatim as they drool all over themselves? Many of them can’t form an idea of their own, let alone use information they hear to form an argument. Incidentally, Rush has been known to repeatedly take things out of context and lie outright.
i personally dislike rush, but just because rush takes things out of context does not excuse olberman or matthews when they do the same… they’re all out for ratings and nothing else…
in short: they’re all douchebags, and when comparing douchebags make sure to wear gloves and a smock.
minerva: citation, please. And the people you refer to are no worse than those that can’t spout out left-wing propaganda fast enough. But I’m not afraid of arguing against the slavishly devoted-good practice for people who are capable of thought.
Here’s a recent example. They have an archive with plenty more examples. Me
“Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.”
In spite of being a left-leaning organization, they try to sort through the muck that’s out there to give people a more accurate look at what is being said. They have a pretty good reputation.
too bad their mission is completely ridiculous… “correcting conservative misinformation”? srsly?
if they want to be taken seriously they should try to eliminate all misinformation instead of only calling out conservatives…
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! ROFL!!!! Media Matters! That’s hilarious! a George Soros funded front group that has been known to outright make crap up! That’s your evidence? Oh, man…thanks for the laugh.
Yes, I’m sure it’s all a huge conspiracy. I’m sure you can back up your claim that they made stuff up. I’m giving citations, are you? As far as calling out conservatives, of course they do, they admit to being left leaning. Do you really think conservatives will demand honesty from their own? It remains a respectable organization. If you don’t like it though, here’s another Doing a search on their page under Limbaugh, provides a plethora of examples beyond the one given. This fair dot org group has been around longer than the current media ownership debacle. They’ve been looking into media bias for close to 30 years. There are many other examples I can give. Denial won’t help, try as you might to discredit me.
Oh, and at least I’m attempting to PROVIDE any evidence, unlike youselves, to back up your own position.
I provide evidence. But when you cite Media Matters, all I have for you is derision. Also, I’m not really sure what the point of that latest bit of “evidence” is, except that Rush has problems with the government regulating what can and can’t be said on the air. And if the Fairness Doctrine is so necessary, why doesn’t it apply to print and TV?
Butting in here: Robert, where have you
provided evidence? You’re the first one to
call for it, but you’re the first to criticize
anything offered, and the last to provide
any of your own.
You should work on that.
I do frequently. I’m just not sure what kind of evidence I can provide re: media matters is ridiculously biased.
I’m not talking about this one instance, but
shooting down a source without reading it
is a pattern with you. I’ll point it out to you
again, surely.
In this situation, you could point to the
massive number of times Rush *didn’t*
exaggerate, misrepresent or absolutely lie.
No, wait. You’re right: You’re pretty much
stuck here.
I’m familiar enough with Media Matters to know how that spin things, often using opinion statements to say a given commentator lied. Or, they take small quotes out a much larger monologue and try to make it look like something it’s not (see the recent “stupid Mexicans” flap). Trying to address their chicanery is, quite frankly, below me. However, if someone were to link to a specific story, I could probably go to work on it pretty well.
You’re funny. The great thing about the left, is that we don’t plan to lecture you on anything. In fact, we’re rather amused by you. Well, some of us are. The rest of us don’t even notice you exist. I’m rather amused, though.
Oh god, surely not! A leader trying to act out the WILL of the PEOPLE? What HAS this plutocracy come to? In other news, leaders around the world continue to flagrantly ignore popular opinion whenever not involved in an electoral race.
Communism isn’t some kind of evil anti-american ideology. It’s actualy about putting power in the hands of the people. The main difference between communism and democracy is the means by which the power of the people is exercised, and the connotations and assocations they’ve picked up due to past use and abuse. You might want to do a little reading around, ignorance can be embarassing in social situations.
And correct me if I’m wrong… isn’t there something in your constitution about keeping the power in the hands of the people through arms? ‘safeguard against tyranny’, ring any bells?
Have you taken a look at any “Communist” countries lately? You think those governments are putting power in the hands of the people? Wow…
“Communism isn’t some kind of evil anti-american ideology. It’s actualy about putting power in the hands of the people.”
Holy CRAP! Poe??? THAT YOU?
My God, Orwell wasn’t kidding about the sheep, was he?
Communism/socialism is ideal in theory. It won’t work in reality because of human nature. It’s a perfect government, but humans can’t make utopia work. I think socialism is an amazing concept, but I know logically it can’t work.
“Communist” countries right now aren’t really Communist. Most of them are dictatorships or aristocracies, but won’t admit it.
It’s not only not “ideal” in theory, it’s EVIL in theory. If you don’t recognize why, you’re a moron. Or perhaps you just don’t care about individual liberties, which still makes you a moron. And evil.
At any rate, it doesn’t matter, because THIS country has a CONSTITUTION. In case you didn’t REALIZE that.
Strictly speaking, Mao is correct about socialism. There is a difference, however, between Communism, communism, and socialism. One describes the regime that was held in such entities as the U.S.S.R, the other describes the ideals of such things as a Marxist philosophy, and the last is a completely different ideal altogether.
Socialism is defined as:
1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2 a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done.
As you can see, while socialism is implicative of communism (“little c communism”) it doesn’t necessarily follow that it *is* communism. Furthermore, socialism is an ideal society that works under ideal circumstances. It’s not “evil” nor is it “anti-American,” it is just a radically different sociopolitical ideology.
Big C for the start of a sentence, not big C for historical comunism as opposed to Marxism. My bad.
Any system is only as good as the people it’s made up of. Any rules can be bent or broken with enough time and ingenuity. Only good people can make a good society.
“Communism/socialism is ideal in theory. It won’t work in reality because of human nature.”
`
“In THEORY, Communism works.” — Homer J. Simpson
do you know the difference between communism in practice and communism in theory? in theory the men would take the power to set up the system then fall out of power to give it to the people. in practice they never gave up the power.
In theory a democracy gives everyone a fair shot at voting and the majority vote is unbiased and what the people want. in practice it is biased and crushes the minority rights causing a large rift in social standings…bad things happen.
but sure it’s easy to just parrot things. communism bad, america good
You do know that this is not a mobocracy but a republic governed by a little thing called the **Constitution** don’t you? Does anyone even read that thing anymore? My God, I read it through once every few months just to be sure I’m not forgetting anything and people think it can just be thrown out because some idea SOUNDS good to a mob. Whiskey, tango, foxtrot?
I would certainly say the last administration pretty solidly ignored it, now that you mention it. Oh, but you were ripping on the guy who’s been here a couple months, not the one who was here for 8 years, right?
(I’m sorry, everyone. I know better. I’ll go sit in the corner.)
It hasn’t been really followed since before Hoover. Not so far as free trade and property rights are concerned. Though it’s being trod upon to an unprecedented degree in, yes, just the last two months. I guess we’re just supposed to ignore that because the sheep want it. It doesn’t work that way. {shrug} Whatever, can’t talk sense to people who don’t understand.
Yeah right.
You’re aware it’s been proven that the previous administration was molecules away from being a dictatorship?
Like margarine to plastic.
Everything the previous administration was ACCUSED of doing in secret, Obama is now doing WITH A BANGING GONG. He hasn’t repealed ANY of the allegedly bad things Bush did, and he’s adding countless and HISTORIC charges to it in record time. Everything you had against Bush, you now have against this guy and FAR MORE. Except that perhaps Bush Didn’t do ALL that you paranoiacs accused him of.
Now you have a REAL dictatorship. Enjoy it! We’ll be shoving it down your throats for the next 4 – 8 years. Hope you like the taste of gall.
Really?
I’m pretty sure he reversed the Bush policy of torture and he is closing Guantanamo Bay.
But he did it with a gong. See? That is the difference. Doing the right thing with a gong just yells “I’m a dictator” >.>
^ sarcasm to the extreme
You have said so many things here that are just factually dead fncking wrong that I don’t even know where to begin. You’ve now convinced me that you’re posting through a rift in the space-time continuum from an alternate universe where McCain won and changed his name.
Somebody notify Torchwood.
So far I’m fairly content with the new dictatorship.
-
I always thought dictators hoarded all the wealth, and here you are accusing him of spending it all on the worthless peasants.
“He hasn’t repealed ANY of the allegedly bad things Bush did, ”
`
I’m pretty sure he repealed both the gag rule and the ban on stem cell research.
There was no ban on stem cell research. There were restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research only. Adult and cord blood still had the same funding they always had. And embryonic stem cell research a) wasn’t illegal and b) is still perfectly legal everywhere else in the world. Try to get your facts right, k Tessie?
More specifically robert, there WAS a ban on adding any new lines of stem cells. They could only work with the eight or whatever number they already had. Considering that was leading to the US falling behind other countries on the research, it was a sever deterrent on advancement because it was a strict limitation. Legal everywhere else in the world doesn’t keep America on the cutting edge of the research, and therefore competitive on a world market.
Still wasn’t a ban on research, only a restriction on funding. You could add new lines. They just wouldn’t get the federal funding.
TBH, I think federal funding of science corrupts the discipline.
But corporate funding is still both hunky and dory?
Tell that to the families of patients killed by Vioxx.
*facepalm*
I just love it when a company says “My drugs could cause these problems” and then those things happen, and they’re suddenly the subject of class-action suits and attention of those like you. Good Lord.
And yes, better than a company with the goal of having customers than a government with a goal of maintaining it’s own power.
Vioxx was developed as a Cox-2 inhibitor, to treat rheumatoid arthritis, a very tragic condition with limited effective treatments. But it was marked to the much, much larger osteoarthritis population as a pain reliever which wouldn’t irritate the stomach or bleeding ulcers. Most of the people who were given Vioxx would have done jsut fine with a less risky drug–but those with rheumatoid arthritis, given knowledge of the risks, would probably appreciate the option of the choice–as they tend to get massively disabled, often at young ages.
Profit over doing good. Sigh.
If what Obama is bringing is a dictatorship, then bring it on, yo. The last dictator had all the power, but was dumber than a bag of hammers. And I’m still waiting for my freaking pie!!
Yes, you do strike me as someone interested in taking dictation.
Viking Gal:
I agree absolutely that the risks shouldn’t have been taken by people who didn’t need it to treat the conditions they had. But that seems, to me, to be at worst a failure of their doctors. However, you can’t pinch doctors fro millions upon millions of dollars in a tort lawsuit. And, in order to recoup the losses, Merck pushes this stupid HPV vaccine to “prevent cervical cancer” even thought it doesn’t actually prevent all cervical cancer and the form of HPV that it prevents is sexually transmitted, meaning giving it to 8-year-old girls is utterly ridiculous. Makes me want to scream.
Robert, you’re just lying now.
The risks were orders of magnitude greater than the manufacurers let on. They BURIED the reports they didn’t like.
*pat pat* OK, then, if you say so. I have nothing better to do than go on the PK board and lie for people that I’ve never met and have no stake in.
Apparently. Pretty pathetic of you.
That ‘sexually transmitted’ cervical cancer? A major World health organization study, worldwide, tested women who had only had ONE sexual partner. 50% of those women already had the virus that causes cervical cancer. And that same virus has been found to cause 50% of all oral and throat cancers (the other 1/2 are caused by smoking/chewing tobacco). If I had children, I would have any daughter AND son vaccinated, at age 8 or 10. I would hope that they would abstain from sex until at least the late teens (and heaven forbid, that they would never be sexually abused) , but wouldn’t want to bet their future health on it–I’ve seen too many people die from or be disfigured by cancer for that!
I did not know that, VG-huh…now I have re-evaluate my whole position on that vaccine. Granted, I take what the WHO says with a grain of salt half the time, but even if their figures are inflated by 50%, that’s still quite noteable. I know that at least one of the strains isn’t that common, but perhaps the statistic in question is an amalgamation of statistics.
I was wondering when someone would bring this up.
ATTENTION: America is not, and never has been, a democracy. We are, and always have been, a republic.
In a democracy, the people would *directly* vote on all issues (spending, policy, laws, etc.). In a republic, the people elect leaders to *represent* them (and presumably their interests, though in practice…oh never mind)
Sorry to nitpick, but it really bugs me when people get all misty-eyed over democracy. I always want to ask where they’ve ever experienced it.
Isn’t the technical term for what we have ‘Democratic Republic’?
I think that’s what it’s called yeah.
I’m often curious what would happen if we tried to create a plutonicic republic.
“I’m often curious what would happen if we tried to create a plutonicic republic.”
`
Mickey Mouse’s dog would run the government?
*runs away*
A Plutonic republic? We’d have a Mickey Mouse government!!
oh, wait….
Meh, the last administration was pretty Goofy.
Yes it does.
Representative Democracy, iirc
Just as there have been no true democracies, there have been no true communist regimes. Those things that are failing? Communist countries in name only. I’m sure it’s not possible to really have either system when people are involved–we’re too selfish and stupid.
Actually, the first Plymouth colony was a purely communist exercise. And it failed rather badly.
I’m thinking starvation and disease had a little to do with
it, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
Nah it was the communism. That’s why on a desert Island the first thing people look for is freedom from political oppression, then water, then food.
“The reigning ruler appointed the archbishop of his or her choice and every church in the kingdom was under the direct orders of the ruler and the archbishop. There was no freedom to choose what a person believed or how he could worship.”
-
Yep, that’s the first thing the Plymouth settlers were looking for, indeed.
Yes, the starvation and disease caused by the idea that everyone would work and contribute equally, which led to laziness and complacency. When the (rather nasty) winter came, it about destroyed the colony that hadn’t adequately prepared for it.
Typical communism, really: everyone’s equal-equally miserable.
according to the definition of Fada, Switzerland is a true democracy, but countrys that small probably don’t realy count…
Generally speaking, communism is about saying you’re putting power in the hands of the people, by dominating everything so it’s “fair.” Of course, “fair” generally means “equally miserable.” And yes, the purpose of the Second Amendment was, in fact, so citizens could engage in armed revolt if necessary. Odd, then, how the party that shares so many ideals with communists is also in favor of heavy restrictions on the purchase of firearms. Perhaps they’re not as much “for the people” as they claim, hmmmm?
So it’s better to let some people starve while others bathe in champagne than take away your Hi-Fi? Yep, that’s capitalism for you. Sign me up for a communal dorm and food all round.
As discused above, I’m no fan of historic communism. Stalinism is despotism giving me a bad name, and pisses me off no end.
I’m not for any party in particular. They’re all pretty badly messed up. But not voting is as bad as saying ‘do what the hell you like’, so support whoever you think will screw up the least right now. I’d rather have ‘respect for basic civil liberties’ be on my government’s agenda.
But hey, I’m not american, so go ahead and become a police state if you wanna. That’s what freedom’s all about, after all.
Yes, that’s what I said. I’m pro-starvation. Here’s the big problem with communism-people do not work if they do not have a stake in it. And I’m not sure what respect it shows when you, through force of law, take money from the earners and give it to those who don’t want to work as hard.
As far as becoming a police state, since Obama wants to create his own private “citizen army” (which screams brown shirts or gestapo in my mind), that does seem to be a real danger, but I don’t see it as an imminent threat yet.
People will work if they see the worth of it. It’s just a matter of values, and the good of yourself or the good of all. That’s why the progessive socialist stage has such a focus on education and community buliding.
And taking from the rich is a lot better than taking from the poor, which is what capitalism boils down to. The whole concept of the invisble hand and the power f the employer. If people can’t provde for each other of their own volition, the government has to invervene in some way. On behalf of the defenseless seems like the right side to me.
I’m not a fan of armies at all, but it you’ve got to have them, keep the arms in the hands of those who are supposed to be holding the government accountable, at least.
Actually taking from the rich gimps the whole system. I’d really prefer my employer isn’t taxed into oblivion. Then I have a job. I buy things, giving other people jobs. It’s really not that complicated. If you take money from poeple and give it to others, you put a money filter on the system. The problem with government (as is repeatedly demonstrated) is that it intervenes in the favor of building/maintaining it’s power, more than the people it’s supposed to represent.
On the other note, I agree with you completely. Gun control laws don’t reduce crime. They put the balance of power in the hands of criminals and/or a tyrannical government.
I guess it boils down to if you trust a government who are at least in theory defending the interests of the people, and have a structure in place to hold them accountable, or a corporation responsible only for bosting profits. As far as I can tell the corporations get good PR because they have money and can hide their shenanigans, while governments get strung up when they cross to many lines and so have a bad name.
In fairness, its not something there’s a cut and dried choice on. I just think it boils down to this judgement call.
Thanks for the resonable discussion in the face of my initial jackassery. I can get a bit ornery, but am really interested in understanding why people think and act the ways they do, especially those who disagree with me and have thought their ideas out.
Oh, I like reasonable discussions. As long as you refrain from calling me a baby-raping serial axe murderer, I’m more than willing to have a civil discourse. The government, unfortunately, hasn’t been accountable to anyone for at least the last 50 years, and probably the last 80. Although I do think the threat of Communism was absolutely real, I’m also of the opinion it trained people to trust their government faaaar too much, and we’ve never really recovered from that. Add to that that government has increasingly become Mommy since the 30′s, and you have a serious problem.
Are you still throwing around that militarized civil service canard? That’s been debunked more times than I can count. Jeeeeezus.
He was talking about the PEACE CORPS, people. And AmeriCorps, a volunteer program started in the ’90s to do the same work domestically as the Peace Corps does globally. And any other of a host of volunteer organizations that do good and needful work all over the country.
And you in your pig ignorance are still trying to compare it to the Hitler Youth.
You have no honor.
The Wang is pleased with your statement.
I love you, YouTube
No, you know what, you’re right. No resemblance to a militarized civilian force at all.
You laughable, pathetic ass.
You’ve taken one sentence of a speech out of context, ignoring the rest of the speech that called for civilian efforts to rebuild infrastructure, education and economic opportunities in countries our military has
trashed“liberated”, coupled it with a ludicrous clip of unknown origin with no explanation of what it really is, who set it up and for what purpose, and called that proof? You are so full of shit it’s oozing out your ears. This conversation is over.
He specifically says “We cannot continue to rely only on our military to acheive
the national security objectives we have set”. How does that
translate to infrastructure, education and economic opportunities?
I’ve never heard those refered to as national security objectives.
Also, name calling does not help your side.
How does not having an identifiable id help your side?
I don’t have a side, I am only defending an abused minority
against the tirany of the establishment. It’s common to go incognito.
Or the sign of a weaking who is poncing around pretending to be numerous people… which is the track record for this place.
but please, feel free to play the martyr card…. or the Vigilante one…
Well, thank you for your permission, you’re too kind! Oh, and you have my permission to play the psycho card, you do it so well…
So, please describe how debunking Robert’s
propaganda equates to abuse. Is it that you
really-really wish the video were true, and
that scary Mr. Obama would be the devil
you want him to be?
I know what the speech was coupled with. I watched the whole damn thing.. If I say “We need to elimate poverty, so I support shooting every third person in the ghetto” does that negate the flowery language I use to frame it? I wonder if your type was yelling at people in Germany when they warned against that nice vegetarian fellow?
Here’s a question-does it make you just a little squeamish to see that? Quite frankly, anyone who’s even moderately suspicious of their government should be concerned. You better freakin’ believe if it was George Bush, there’d be screams of “Totalitarianism” and “Nazi” (Hell, there are anyway). Are you so ruled by your own political inclination that you can’t see the danger that a nigh religious devotion to a single man might indicate?
Ooh, here’s another I like…this one seems more of Mao’s trick, but still
Well, that was a piece of bespittled hyperbole… nice use of the weaseling comparisons of Mao and Hitler too… you missed your calling… you should write for radio…
GWB talked the us into a war using old data and a dated degree thesis, finagled by the various involved spooks to make up for the ball being dropped in 2001, while pandering to an Oedipal issue in the powers that were.
ATM, I’ve seen no evidence that the current administration is dowinmuch more than trying to fix a problem in such a way as to preserve a free market, rather than let market forces drag us to either a monopoly or a cartel across the various affected industry sectors.
You’re now to the stage of crying ‘wolf’, and really, no one is listening any more, and you’re looking silly. If the wolf is there, then I’m afraid there’s no one to blame but yourself for shouting it so much when there was just a fit of pique, rather than a slavering predator at the door…
@Unc: Is this one possibly Klaxon?
The free market doesn’t need fixing, Fester. It needs to be left alone to correct itself. Government intervention has never, to my knowledge, improved things. Your assertion that monopolies will be created is silly-if, for instance, GM fails, Ford, Chrysler, and the various international companies will pick up slack. As it stands now, we’re headed for the gloriousness that is the English auto sector, fi we keep propping up failing companies this way.
As far as the comparisons to Mao and Hilter, it is not my fault that Obama resembles a larval dictator. I don’t know if he’s actually gonna try to grab power, but I think he needs to be watched just as closely as GWB and the Patriot act were. I would think you, Captain Cynicism himself, would appreciate that.
And again you’re not even reading the articles you link, just the talking points your demagogues tell you to.
Outrage fatigue is definitely setting in here. It’s not even worth arguing with your delusions anymore.
Wagers on how many of these folks in this thread are socks? Anyone?
Yeah, we’re just talking to ourselves. Which means, no one need interfere. {rolleyes} For what it’s worth I can guarantee you I’m a separate person from NObama (though he/she is my friend at icanhascheezburger) and all the rest, and I’m betting the rest are separate too. You lefties seem to think there’s one conservative/libertarian in the world, and they’re all me. FFS, grow up. 48% of the country voted for the other guy, even though he blew goat chunks. Get used to it, NOT EVERYONE THINKS LIKE YOU.
Oops, I’m sorry, did you mean Socks the cat? In that case my apologies – white house dog and all that hullaballoo.
Actually, I’m comfortable with the fact not everyone thinks like me. that would make for a pretty boring world. It’s my acceptance of this fact that makes me different from you. That’s why I get along fine with froo and eddie, and my own conservative family. I only commented because several of the posts all have the same tone, and seem written by the same person. it’s not exactly difficult to spot. If you took personal offense to it, maybe that makes you guilty, I don’t honestly care, it was just an observation. I don’t get all angry about it.
So…more than one person has similar views, and that makes them socks? That’s ridiculous, you know.
I had this same crap on the NOW boards ten years ago – they accused me of being some man named David Byron (apparently a big boogeyman of theirs) when I’m really a woman from a different country. We happened to have the same views on feminism. They could not make distinctions. Look, we haven’t exactly gone very deep here. Likely if you talked to each one of us separately you could find a variety of things that differ in our opinions (for example some of them might be big social conservatives, which I am not, or some of them might be atheists, while I am a fundamentalist Christian. You see, there are all kinds of things where I and the people I’m talking to might differ – much the same as the lefties I talk to here sound EXACTLY the same to me, while I realize that they have differences that are important to them.) What we MAY have in common is the belief that what is being done now is absolutely disastrous in terms of the constitution of the United States, and a decided aversion to totalitarianism in all its forms. I’m not sure, as I don’t know them well and haven’t been given all that much opportunity to discuss it with them without being piled on and called a bunch of fecking morons. Why don’t we find out together?
Instead of saying truly stupid things like “they must be socks!” Because even I realize that while most of you leftists are quite the same in all that actually matters to me (and thus I need not delve too deeply to know I oppose you) I DON’T accuse you all of BEING one another. Because THAT would be dumb. I realize there are a LOT of lefties, and many many times they sound very very much alike to me – most of the time in fact, in all important matters. But I know you’re not all one person. How about recognizing that yourself?
Socks my ass.
You believe the world is 6000 years old? Oh boy… this becomes comedy gold…
Two drink minimum?
The Oxycontin is pounding hot in her veins tonight…
Biblical literalist… BIBLICAL LITERALIST! Please tell me it’s true!
Man I love those guys. It’s just too much fun, and I NEVER get to be mean to people and enjoy it.
At least tell me you’re one of those hard-line fundamentalists who doesn’t like looking at things in context or understanding them in the time they were written.
Just to get the fun rolling, have a peek at 2 Kings 2:26 onwards. That wacky god, huh? He’s just all kinds of fun. Yep, I’ve studied the bible. Yep, I wasn’t impressed.
So…you like “being mean to people” for their religious beliefs, do you? Somehow I have a feeling that doesn’t include Muslims, though. Even the fundamentalist kind. Either way, you’re a religious bigot by admission…interesting.
As to your question, it’s called hermeneutics, and context is essential. Immediate context, historical context, context within the rest of the texts, grammatical context, who wrote it, why it was written, what the original language entails, and so on and so forth. That’s what “studying” the bible involves. {shrug} If that is what passes for entertainment to you, um…well, enjoy it, I guess.
I’m not religous, and I’m bigoted against idiocy and evil, both of which are rife among fundamentalists of most stripes. Christian, Islamic, you name it, if you’re doing evil in the name of your God I’m perfectly fine with taunting and mocking you. That’s why I treasure the chance; most people I’d never treat so poorly.
If you’re actualy reading the bible and taking out the good stuff, fair enough.
I do enjoy your simultaneous mocking of my non-technical erminology and the criticizing me for enjoying a field of study. That’s some quality work there, takes real stones to pull it off. Yeah, I like talking shop, and I’m into phil/theo. I also understand that throwing around technical terms tends to kill conversations stone dead before they start.
LOL – bets on whether she’s a sock?
Is there any percentage above 100?
LOL – well, actually there is. Mathematically, percentages can go anywhere at all. About the only thing I’ve come across that has no real world applications is multiplying a negative and a negative, I think. Something like that. Maybe dividing; I haven’t thought about it in a while.
Sure, whose sock do you suppose I am then? wagers on that? Read the archives, I’ve always posted as me, for much longer than either of you have been here.
Oh FFS it was a joke. You made a thoroughly ridiculous claim and got called on it. No more, no less. No one’s doubting your leftist credentials or how long you’ve been posting, much less care to look nonsense like that up. Stop the ridiculous speculating on “socks” and I daresay you won’t hear anything like it again. Jokes, baby, those are JOKES. JEEZ.
And lookie there, I spoke for that other guy – “Mike”. I guess that makes me his sock LOL.
Never met the guy in my life; I just happen to like his style already. But – ZOMG his TONE – Mike, that TONE – you’re…you’re…you’ve GOT MY TONE! GIMME BACK MY TONE DAMMIT!
F*ck you, Annie451. It’s my tony tone. When the f*ck were you born? I’m pretty f*cking sure I f*cking had it f*cking first, for f*ck’s sake.
I find it beyond hysterical that this poster thinks I’m a dirty birdy. I intend to exploit that at every opportunity. Unfortunately, actually typing the “f” bomb gets eaten by this site, so I will at least say “shitty” and leave it there.
Oh, will “Ronald Reagan Rules” automatically get my post warped off into the twilight zone? It’s got to be the ultimate liberal anathema alliteration.
Let’s see…
Dirty birdy?! What are you, Annie Wilkes? LOL
Ohhhh you and your f*cking TONE dammit! You stole my TONE!!! Off to the twilight zone with YOU motherf*cker!
Oh…Link to my blog, by the way. Forgot to mention that in my cursing rampage.
I’m toddling off to work. Will visit your site tomorrow, same time.
Nice chat, Annie.
I can’t wait to read the yippy, howling dogpile response to this exchange tomorrow. It’ll be better than live performance art!
l.o.l.
Hey no problem; I work second shift, so I hope to see you around then. It HAS been fun, without the normal interruptions!!!
Will look forward to your commentary, and feel free to email as well
Omg not…not…LOGIC! You found the Claw’s only weakness…LOGIC!
You people disgust me. Most of you, in fact. Can no one have an intellectual conversation without becoming a pack of rabid wolves, tearing at each other’s throats? She was adressing the “Sock” situation because it has happened before. And done mostly by the “right” as far as I’ve seen. There’s nothing wrong with her questioning the existence of such cowards.
Or maybe you just assumed they were socks because you managed to drive them away after only a couple posts?
Doesn’t matter, I’m not going anywhere. Hopefully neither will the others; this place needs a little diversity.
Idiocy doesn’t make for diversity. It just makes it harder to have an intelligent conversation.
Says the intellectual equivalent of an oar less rowboat.
“Hey, I’ll go either way depending on which way the current is carrying me.” Pick a side, any side. Just pick one, for the love of GOD!
Was someone indecisive? Froofrou can’t decide what she believes; maybe you meant her.
At any rate, stick a fork in this thread – it’s DONE. See ya’ on the next one! (That’s a promise
)
Oh, look: A pink sock. Somebody must be
feeling really insecure, to need a fake
back-up. I wonder which friendless person
would feel the need to generate such…
“Pick a side, any side. Just pick one, for the love of GOD!”
Ssssssssssssssh!!! She doesn’t want to offend her friends!
Oh shut the fecking feck up already!
Oh look: an insecure attention whore!
You’d know all about faking it, right?
I love that an open mind, well-defined morals, and citations backing up all of my claims translates into not being able to make up my mind. Just because I’m not a drooling neo-con, I must be indecisive.
-
At least I’m not a raving lunatic who thinks that her presence matters.
Open mind? Where?
You jump people’s sh!t and say nasty things more than the rest of them.
Should I link?
That’s what I thought.
Leave us alone to talk to each other, and we’ll do the same.
MORE than the rest of them? I highly doubt that. I do my part to stamp out idiocy, but they do get away from me. I’m far from the most prolific poster here, though I am the most prolific right winger.

Now, go ahead and link away, darling. Let’s see what you’ve got that even remotely compares to the profanity-laced crap your momma was spouting earlier.
Still waiting on that link.
Oh damn, you got me interested again too, “Shut Up”. Miss Holier Than Thou has always been pretty dam nasty in my experience too, but if you’ve been here longer, do tell
If you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one that yelps is the one who got hit. You seem to do an awful lot of yelping when you’re called out.
And also, your suggestion is much the same as mine – why not leave the “socks” alone to talk to each other? (Why anyone would want to talk to themselves, I don’t know, but that’s what these morons seem to think we’re doing.) I’d be willing to do the same as well.
Are you joking? If you have been around for a while, you’d know that Evil Pundit, Atlus Shrugged, and Anti-Fester, among others used trolls. this was back before many of the conservative users had arrived and they felt the need to “sock” in comments to make it seem like there were more of them with the same twisted views.
Uh. Exactly what the hell is going on at this point? I’m totally lost. Kinda sad. I was getting into it back when it was only 110 comments and not 500.
Annie, I can’t seem to load this site for any period of time conducive to actual discussion, so I’ll head over to your blog in a bit and leave you a post.
I’ve had to reload after every post I’ve made; can’t stay on without freezing solid. Must be the adverts.
The system gets a little squemish once we break the 500 post mark…
And wtf, a flame war and I wasn’t invited? I’m offended…
@Kelto: Atlas Shrugged and Anti Fester were
the same person. EP was different, and, as
far as I know, never socked. Weird, eh? Oh,
and AS/AF had over 50 socks, and counting.
@Eric: I’ve got a Wii in the evil botanical lab.
We may need to hide out there, as this LOL
is getting ridiculous.
There seems to be a skirmish between some
new people who “vant to be alowne” in a
discussion-driven open public format.
As it turns out, the people who have
been here a while have been doing it all
wrong: We ask for sources, feel free to
interact with others, and answer attacks in
kind. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
It’s a good thing the new people came
along to sort us out, eh?
Anti-Fester was Atlus?? o_o Damn. That would explain his obsession with Fester, then.
Yeah, the avatars are the same. He was also
Megabob, Rorsc, Killer Rabbit, M…, and lots
of others. Seth seemed to bother him a lot,
too. I don’t know how that’s possible, but
there you have it.
Nice maturity level. You don’t know anything about me, but feel free to hurl insults based on childish assumptions. The cursing really adds to your argument.
I am quite comfortable with myself and don’t need socks, nor do I need your approval. I’m also not getting angry, even in the face of an unjustified personal attack because you truly aren’t worth the emotional investment. I prefer dialogue, not shouting matches. When you can behave like a grown up, then we can have a decent discussion.
Guess what? I DON’T NEED SOCKS EITHER, and if my guess is right, NEITHER do any of the people you’re accusing. Because I bet my left ass cheek we’re ALL quite comfortable with ourselves.
And cursing might not add to an argument…but it sure makes it cooler. It also doesn’t even indicate anger – weren’t you aware that the hippies “reclaimed” the word Fu*& in the 60s so we could all use it again without worrying? We don’t even have to hide it like Redd Foxx did! (Fugg Soap.) Or like they did in South Park – f*&^ f*&&^ f*(&ety f*&ing f*&^ – so what, it doesn’t hurt anybody? And frankly, I think it adds a little SPICE to the argument. It’s fun, and harmless, and I LIKE it.
Because I’m not conservative lol. That’s the libertarian advantage, I guess – conservatives get very uptight about those things sometimes. :X
You do need socks. Your feet are gonna get cold.
Most rational comment I’ve ever read here.
Touche.
Sometimes the best truths are the simplest ones.
Go cry now, sock. Don’t denigrate MY maturity level when you are clearly the sock puppet. I gave that up when I was five, right along with pissing in my pants and crying like a wussie when someone called me a naughty word.
“I prefer dialogue”… LOL! Then quit parroting the partyline, madame marionette, and have one.
I have to say…there is really something to being ignored by the “elite” of this site. It’s amazingly liberating and allows those of a different opinion to have a real conversation once in a while. I probably shouldn’t even note this, lest they all start the pile-on again, but I’m liking it!
Agreed. What a blowhard flaming crock of shit the “elites” here are. I can’t believe the bullshit they sling at the conservatives who dare to post and really it’s just a full-on hot air festival of how persecuted they all feel by the meanie GOP.
It’s absofuluckingly hilarious.
Expat, heah.
LOL!
Link to my blog – come along and visit.
Whenever you two are done stroking each other….
Are you seeing double?
You’re right, of course. I should have been able to deduce the crippling narcissism.
Anieee, why don’t the “two” of you get a room?
Morons. That’s arrogance, not narcissism. And I’m MUCH too arrogant to create a puppet – *I* want credit for all the brilliance that I write, period. I’m disappointed; I haven’t seen Mike’s cerebrum at my blog yet, though. The invitation stands
Quite what you’re arrogant about is somewhat defeating. you simply simme a social retard
And the stroke job resumes. Have fun, annie/mike. Lord knows you get off being a total prick here.
They are pricks? Do you EVER read any of Festers posts?
*giggle*
They don’t “sling bullshit” at conservatives. They sling it at people with little substance to their claims. There are plenty of conservatives that get along here and generally have a good time. Or at least you’d know that if you bothered to pay attention rather than spewing “naughty words” (as you so cleverly put it) at people. No one feels persecuted by a group with an abundance of hypocrites and such little power. I would go so far to say that you are just here to piss off as many people who don’t agree with you as possible. Basically, a troll.
Not true, they simply discount any back up of claims they don’t approve of and then they gang up and sling poo.
Not true, but then, you’re not bothered about making a salient point, just pot stirring…
I wouldn’t bother in here, it’s not worth the effort because of
what I stated above.
You’re not paying attention enough to get the point. Conservatives are not jumped on. People with opposing views are asked (sometimes roughly) to back up those views, and if they do in an adult manner with with the type of cources considered ‘good’ (i.e. NOT a right wing blog), then they are welcomed to stay. Anyone who simply shotgun fires an opinion and doesn’t back it up, cites a blog that can be disproved with a simple Google search, or argues something without backing it up is not considered worth the time and is therefore lampooned for the rest of the time.
-
Now, back up your claims, or begone.
Show me that ever happening here, or you begone.
Troll sock is trolling.
/will be jumped by MUPs (slang for socks on another site) in the morning.
Do you even know what an internet sock puppet is, by definition? I included a link. Read the archives. I have never needed alternate identities to support my arguments. I’m also not upset by a naughty word, as you call it. Obscenities have their time and place. Making a serious argument is not the place. See how many congresspeople from either party use obscenities on the floor, hmm? It’s just unprofessional. The only person here resorting to recess taunts is yourself, and they don’t add to any argument. Rather, they indicate either your young and misguided age, or else a fairly sad maturity level. As to parroting any party lines, you are making assumptions based on who knows what. I haven’t even made a political argument on this thread. I was raised in a conservative household and learned to form my own opinions. Sorry to burst your preconceived notions.
finally the post shows up.
My post got eaten. I’m sure it will turn up later. It probably didn’t like my link
Of course this site ate it. It’s bullshitometer broke from the ridiculousness of your link.
Wow, you need to get over yourself.
It’s more of that thing where people who react this way and behave with such BS themselves, have no concept of other not behaving the exact same way. They project themselves on others, who, in reality, have no clue of the way others think. Not to mention the overcompensation going on in his handle
They don’t realize even that the juvenile insults remain one-sided.
In bed… With a penis… And a picture of a threesome of O’Reilly, Coulter, and Limbaugh.
Ick, ick, ick!!!!
Once again, DWN rocks me to sleep tonight.
Now, now. Mike may be a complete putz, but to say the juvenile insults on PK are one sided is patently absurd.
Well, DWN DOES claim to be independent… LOL nobody’s perfect, I’m only suggesting that the more hate filled bile tends to come from one direction more than the other. I should have been clearer. I’m overtired and am going to bed.
Plus, in that instance I was referring to this particular thread, amongst thse particular people.
I thought you meant that throwing insults around is one sided in that it only makes one side look bad… which is very true.
If it makes anybody feel better, I wouldn’t want to sleep with any of the Democrat politicians either. It is just that Rush and crew are just more fun for me to parody. Also I was posting after Rhorho, so it wouldn’t have had the unch to say Rahm, Pelosi, and Biden despite the same level of ick.
minerva, Annieee seems to think she is part of the regular group. What she has failed to understand is that the regular group likes to hear well reasoned, mature, non aggressive, humorous, witty presentations of a point of view. Eddie is a good example of how a non-majority voice can be welcomed. I get nothing but piss, venom and spite from Anniee’s posts and so have simply decided not to read them anymore. You may choose to engage if you like but drink a lot of water. She has a bladder like an elephant. Good luck!
LOL, I’d noticed. I just don’t have that much venom, I guess, so I gave up. Not worth the time banging my head on a brick wall. The saddest/funniest part is that She’ll count that as a victory… LOL
I’m thinking of ignoring Anniee, too. It’s a shame,
because she seems intelligent enough to calm down,
but doesn’t seem to have the will to do so. It’s a
shame, in a way, because the right is not well
represented here in numbers.
Sorry–NyQuil here…
*strikes one of the “It’s a shames”*
It bears repeating. Anniee has shown in the past that when she calms down asn acts human she can be well-respected, listened to, and even liked, but this latest bi-polar crap she’s throwing at us is just sad.
It wouldn’t be represented by me in any case; I’m only “conservative” in the case of national defense; with the rest I’m very much libertarian. So it goes.
You have a big thing about calming down. So far my blood pressure has never climbed a single point when I’m here (oh, maybe when I was drunk the first time I got here, who knows) – I can assure you I’m quite calm. I think it’s you guys who get overly upset the minute someone comes in making fun of your Tin Gods. I’m sorry, but that’s what this place is for – fun, and I intend to have some
Why would I want to be part of the regular group? I’d prefer they ignore me.
Bada-bing-bada-bang.. done!
Hi eddie, I linked the band, like you asked, but you had gone by then. LOL
Sorry ’bout that! I always miss out on the important info.. sheesh!
Being ignored makes you a wholly unsuccessful troll. People might, on the other hand, listen to your opinions and have real discussion with you if you’d present your ideas in a civilised manner. Being ignored accomplishes what, exactly. Freedom to sit in your own pool of bile, alone? Then it becomes rather like the zoo, with you inside the enclosure. It’s a rather unwholesome spectacle.
And who will clean the cage? It sure won’t be me!
Wont’ be necessary. She’ll fling the poo OUT of the cage and onto passersby
I LOL’d
#1 I’m not trolling. I enjoy talking to people who share at least some of my beliefs and who share my dislike of the administration, of socialism, and the left. Who know and care about economics and the constitution especially.
#2 I don’t much care about having a “real discussion” with the hard left or, worse, pseudo-conservatives and pseudo-libertarians; the honeymoon ended on Nov. 5th 2008. I may be interested in talking with them again when this mess is over and we’ve cleaned up the ashes of the socialist bonfire they’ve lit. I’ve spent a lot of years discussing things with leftists and dealing with their Bush Derangement, and right now is not the time when I’m interested in engaging them.
#3 I come here to laugh along with the conservatives and/or libertarians at Obama and his crazy posse and sycophants, to laugh at the press, and to laugh at the LOLs (so long as they are funny.) Snarky is the best kind of funny, and if I think of any good snark, I’ll post it. I also get inspiration for my own LOLs and pictures to use.
That’s about it. Feel free to do your own thing with your own crowd; and feel free to ignore me if you would.
Just to answer #1, who here shares your beliefs, aside from a few fly by night scattershot posters who aren’t here more than a few minutes? I’d hardly say you’ve got consensus or a following here. How is that fun for you to be constantly lampooned?
It makes her a troll, by definition, froo. She can deny it all she likes. She likes to ruffle feathers.
Nonsense, you moron. (Although that clearly makes Fester the biggest troll that there is on this site, and you know that as well as I do.) I PREFER you eff-tards ignore me, how many ways can I make that clear? Good lord, this is not rocket science. It was quite pleasant the other day just to talk to some of the OTHER people here; and it will be pleasant in the future as well. Stake out your claim and plant your flag, but unless the site owners see fit to ban those of us who don’t think like you, you’re gonna be seeing some of them around. At least one. If you aren’t strong enough to ignore what you don’t like, that is in the category of “not my problem.”
I haven’t ever called you a moron, nor made stupid assumptions about your capacity for tolerance or strength, yet you wonder why people object to your manner. The only thing people are trying to tell you is to be less abrasive. Why is that so difficult. Nobody’s even trying to persuade you to give up on your obviously tightly held beliefs. You still don’t get that a forum, electronic or otherwise, is supposed to be about dialogue.
If you want an echo chamber, there are plenty. You don’t need to be here. Again, the constitution is supposed to be about compromise, which means free exchange of ideas. It does not mean sitting around with a bunch of people who think theirs is the only right way to do things. That’s un-American. . Look up Groupthink. The Bush administration and the neo-con movement is rife with it. It’s truly an unhealthy and non-productive mindset.
I have no reason NOT to be here, minerva. A political humor site is just fine with me, and there are obviously plenty of other people on ICHC who are conservative or libertarian – I know because the friends lists are growing every day. As more of those lols show up here, so much the better; it’ll be more balanced and there will be something for everyone.
Froufroo, what you just said is so stupid it doesn’t really deserve an answer. If your friends drive them all off, that’s nothing to be proud of. But don’t expect it to continue indefinitely; I’m too stubborn for THAT. Blow it out your ass.
And *I’m* the one who attacks and name calls. Sure.
Sure you do. But only to people who are “on your side” LOL.
Ok, NOW stick a fork in it, this thread is truly done!
You’ve said crap like that before, along with crap like ‘I’m leaving, I don’t like it here, I’m taking this site off my blog roll!’ Then, amazingly, you seem to reappear, and have to pretend that you dont’ know HOW to remove a blog roll and you just got sucked back in.
-
Good lord, Troll, get a clue already.
This was the first comment I read by you, minerva. You are now weeping in your wheaties that ALL you did was hold out an olive branch and kindly INVITE me and the others to join in your exalted (sniff sniff!) conversation.
Uh-huh. Except what you really did was make this dumb-ass comment, which is an attack on a whole group of people.
I guess you really were tired.
(“This” being the comment about Bets on how many people in the thread were “socks.”) Alllllll I did was invite you to talk to us politely, and you kicked me in the teeth for it!!! Whaaaa!
Well, now you’re not just an ideologue, you’re a liar.
And you’re a hateful shrew. See how that works? You’ve honestly done nothing since you got here but accuse, rail against, and throw profanity around at people who ask you simple things, like to back up your statements with something other than right wing sources.
-
You really need to get a clue. You’re so wrapped up in yourself that you can’t see that other people matter. Minerva has been nothing but nice, aside from calling your socks out for what they are.
DWN announcement: For some asinine reason, when a lol reaches over 200 comments, this work computer pretty much does its best to just stop loading the page. So No, I am not ignoring people, I am pretty much either fighting the machine or waiting to go home so I can actually respond.
your theory of larger banner ad sizes when a page hits a certain number of comments has been proved.
Pretty much.
And now for a Jane Announcement: I’m pretty much gonna be out of touch for a week and a half. I’m going out east to see my brother, s-i-l, nephew, and new baby niece. If we’re lucky we’re gonna go to Boston for St. Pat’s (fingers crossed) but either way I’m not taking my laptop and I don’t know if I’ll get on my brother’s computer that much. I’ll post some tonight and maybe tomorrow before we leave and then after that I’ll miss you guys!
Have fun, Jane! We’ll miss you *hugs* *tear*
If you make it to Boston, wave slightly north-northeast! I’ll wave back!
And enjoy the new baby–because I’m sure she’ll enjoy your communist-hater-smothering weapons!
My bro and s-i-l are bigger commies than me, so I’m sure she’ll grow her own pair someday (besides, she already looks just like her Auntie). I’ll be sure and wave when I get there!
Bye Jane, have fun!
Have fun babe.
And now for an Eric announcement: I’m not going anywhere. Probably ever again. I’m stuck in this damn town! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Ah damn.. any chance of getting Charlie to fill in while you’re away? Have fun and be safe!
I’ll recommend it but who knows, maybe he and Mrs. Foxtrot will enjoy the extended alone time (although more than likely Mom will be bored silly).
*sniff* Thanks guys, you’re all awesome!
Getting in late, but well wishes to you and your family! Have a great
*hugs*
trip, and don’t worry about me and KLP…
Same here, Jane! Travel safe & have a blast.
“we’re gonna go to Boston for St. Pat’s”
`
Bring paint remover.
Have fun!
Spring Break is just around the corner, so I’ll probably be around here more.
*waits for wails of angst*
though almost no one would complain if Bush was the one wearing the shoes…..
yes they would… those shoes are in the oval office right now
Can this stuff PLEASE be uploaded to lol celebs from now on? People act the same way toward Obama as they do the Jonas Brothers, geez.
tardmuffin you really are stupid
Right on! Hard working man, finally, for Prez.
Worn-out shoes mean hardworking? Really? And what about other presidents led you to think “not hard-working”?
the last president should be enough proof for that
*yawn* More of the fabled “Bush Bad, Obama Good” logic I see.
No, more of the fabled Bush took 122 vacation days a year while in office logic. 487 at Camp David, 490 at the ranch in Crawford. That’s 17 weeks of paid vacation a year. [LINK]
Nice work if you can get it, eh?
Because, after all, presidents can only work when they’re physically in the White House. All that (very tired) statistic proves is that Bush didn’t want to be in DC. Quite frankly, I don’t blame him.
Does is bother you as much that Bill Clinton used his time as president as a dating service, or is that OK, so long as he stays in The District?
Right, because Clinton spent nearly ALL his time banging Monica. That’s the most significant item in the entire presidency. A few hours of bad judgement instead of everything else he accomplished.
Again, not what I said. You seem to enjoy doing that. Bill Clinton had a rather mediocre presidency. It wasn’t really bad. It just wasn’t good, either. But I know it gets hard to concentrate with a nubile young thing kneeling down in front of me.
Also, a few hours? Are you frackin’ kidding me. The man left a trail of rapes, sexual harrassments, and tossed aside women for years.
So Clinton spent 2/3 of each day with an agenda to screw or harass any female he ran across? Just because the conservative media blew things out of proportion does not mean he spent all his time whoring around. Even if he’s the worst horn dog on earth, does that really compare with torture, illegal ars, and cronyism to essentially run racketeering with the US gov’t? Let’s ask Hallibuton?
Conservative media? Torture? Illegal wars? Cronyism? Halliburton? OK, I’m sorry, if all you’re gonna do is spout mindless talking points, I’m afraid I can’t continue to have a dialog with you. If, on the other hand, you want to add some substance to your mindless rants, feel free.
(Oh, and, dirty secret, the same “interrogation tactics” are going to take place under Obama, it’ll just be outsourced to other, less friendly countries)
Congratulations, you’ve just proven yourself too ignorant and/or delusional to bother with.
Have a nice, short life.
No one cares what you think. Maybe some of your friends but that’s no big deal to most people who come in here and read.
“outsourced to other…” speaking of lack of citation…
I wasn’t aware that citation was needed regarding illegal wars as this has allcome out in congressional investigations and what not. It’s a matter of public record that they had plenty of evidence to impeach regarding this.
As to halliburton, here’s a link I found with just the most cursory of ssearches. A whole website dedicated to keeping track of their corruption. I can find many other, better links if I take the time for a little research.
The conservative media is called such in my post because most media outlests are owned by large corporations or entities like Rupert Murdoch. There is not equal access to the airwaves by all points of view. Media flack is, in my opinion, one of the reasons congress chickened out of the bush impeachment. There’s too much spin from all the talking heads. The uninformed consituency eats it up with no analysis of their own. As I said before, look how many people buy into Rush’s lies alone.
Sorry for typos and spacing, text wrap makes hard to edit.
I know, isn’t it annoying? The text wrap issue drives me crazy.
Congress didn’t impeach Bush because they had no cause. Don’t tell me they wouldn’t have if they could have. There’s nothing “conservative” about the average media outlet. Unless you’re trying to make the argument that Keith Olberman, Chris Matthews, Wolf Blitzer, Dan Rather, et al,. Owned by large corporations =/= conservative. Businesses will do whatever they need to to protect themselves, including kissing up to people they’re afraid will hurt them.
As far as Halliburton, I’ve heard that old saw so much, it grows tiresome. It’s a straw man, quite frankly.
http://www.latimes.com/news/la-na-rendition1-2009feb01,0,7548176,full.story
http://www.esquire.com/the-side/richardson-report/obama-torture-022409
Those are the ones I could find that weren’t a web site you minght find potentially objectionable, but there’s a lot more out there.
I can has evil terrorist fist bump?
*bump*
Felonies? Plural? Bush just hasn’t been brought up on charges yet. Spying on americans to add to the list, all of his offenses together ought to add up to high treason, in my opinion. Not at all comparable.
Purjury and obstruction of justice.
“Spying on Americans”
Please, cite your proof.
And the previous statement about mindless left wing talking points still applies.
Seriously? This has all come out in congressional hearings. have you had your head under a rock? Denial doesn’t make it untrue. If there was nothing to worry about, why did they need to avoid congressional subpoenas? i.e. Harriet Myers, et al. They should have been held in contempt of Congress. Here’s a link about that. I can come up with plenty of citations. I just didn’t think they were necessary on things that were so publicly on record.
Lets see if this link works
Bush and Cheney cannot travel outside the country for fear of arrest on war crimes and human rights abuse charges.
Hell, Cheney can’t go to fncking VERMONT. [LINK]
I loVERMONT!
Now was this a bit where he was tried by a jury of his peers and convicted or is this a talking point where you talk about abused women?
Perhaps I lost touch with being a victim but did Monica strike you as a victim with her book deal and talk show? Did I miss her statement made through tears about how Bill abused her?
Please link me to this part where Bill was guilty of these crimes, actually guilty of these crimes or quit faking it. I’m not your boyfriend and we aren’t in bed. I don’t need a performance, I would prefer facts please.
The whole thing arose from *whether or not* a sexual harassment case could be heard against a sitting president. There turned out to be a huge and ongoing history of such harassment, from Willey and Jones to Broaddrick and people from the distant past. That’s what the Bimbo Eruption squad was there for, in part.
It amuses me you talk about a jury of his peers. You mean the way Bush has been…?
But, in all seriousness, I think Monica was a willing participant. I mean, an unattractive fat man has little going for him other than the fact that he’s powerful, and some girls are into that.
And boyfriend? What? I”m confused…I don’t have a boyfriend.
“I believe someone’s already pointed out that surplus doesn’t mean reduced debt..”
I have certainly tried explaining that, but leftists either don’t understand or don’t *want* to understand the obvious. A snapshot, nonexistent surplus that wasn’t even going to be used to pay down the debt anyway (not that it would have made a dent) and a very convenient memory lapse that the Republicans had control of the house and the senate from ’94 on. Before that, Bill was trying to go on a spending spree with Hillary’s health care bill (which people still had the sense to reject at the time), though he never imagined the kind of spending Obama’s doing…no one ever has.
I always wondered how so many feminists defended a sexual predator like Clinton – and that doesn’t include Monica, who I’m sure was willing enough. Remember the former Miss America who the Bimbo Eruption Squad (headed by Hillary) drove into hiding for almost 20 years with threats to her life and the life of her family? How do people forget all of that? Whatever, short attention spans.
Anniee, my dear, using Rush-y keywords like ‘Bimbo Eruption Squad’ and others that you have used in the recent past just makes you look silly. When you get your own ideas and stop using talking points, along with ceasing the profanity- and attack-laden posts that have been your MO to date, you might be taken seriously. Until then, shut up and stop making my side look bad.
Froo, my ass, that’s what it was called. I guess you haven’t read much in the way of what the investigation committees turned up – might I suggest Barbra Oleson (RIP)?
Also, I wasn’t talking to you. I was addressing Robert.
I’m so very sorry. I wasn’t aware that we had to ONLY answer those posts directed at us. In that case, you’d never speak, so maybe that would be a good rule to follow.
Are you kidding me? If someone says ANYTHING whilst you all are busy stroking each other you go ballistic and swarm like a hive.
You fail at sanctimony.
Go ahead and link. I’m waiting.
Still waiting on your link.
Look down. It’s a start.
Everyone’s a “sock.” You’ve said that COUNTLESS times.
Instead of a rational discussion, you accuse people.
Don’t deny.
That’s not a link. Try again.
Attack, attack, attack.
Call people stupid.
Say nasty things.
Just for the love of GOD quit LYING about it and OWN it.
Fecksakes.
Now it’s a link.
I’ve linked to you calling someone a sock.
Happy?
Frou, you’re pissing in the wind with Madam Oxycontin…
Hehehe. The first one is me outing a bigot (as others had already done before me), the second is a comment on the fact that lurkers seemed to jump out of the woodwork when a non-regular was called on a statement. Neither of which are accurate as an attack, or as being mean.
-
Try again.
Meh, she’s called me a lot worse than a sock, Shut Up
But you know, consider the source. She’s got Stockholm Syndrome after being here too long unattended, after all.
I call idiocy where I see it. Natch.
You are desperate to be in with the in crowd here, they
talk down to you all the time, you and eddie.
You really DON’T pay attention, do you? Eds and I are not exactly mainstream here, but we are respected by the masses. We don’t spew hatred, even though our opinions differ from the majority. Therefore, we aren’t run off or constantly attacked.
-
You, on the other hand, haven’t said anything either original or nice since you were socking as LOL.
I’m a sock! Who cares. You ARE exactly mainstream, what do you believe that your friends rho, minerva, slan and fester don’t believe? Let’s hear it if you dare.
I believe that Obama is the worst choice our country could have made, with McCain being a close second.
I believe that global warming is NOT man-made, nor is it as big a problem as it’s made out to be.
I believe there is no problem teaching the Bible side-by-side in schools
I believe in the death penalty.
I believe that Rush Limbaugh is NOT the head of the Republican party.
I believe that Conservatism is a better choice than Liberalism.
-
I believe that you cannot force your ideals on other people.
-
I also believe you are a useless sock, hereinafter not worth my time.
Is this a confession?
I never see you coming to the rescue of any of the conservatives who believe most of the same things like you do to the liberals who talk down to you and mock you.
You aren’t a sock, you’re just useless.
Veslfen, it’s a statement
Most of the regs already know my set of beliefs and values, and I don’t sway from them. I refuse to come to the aid of people making asses of themselves, however.
*directed at so, not you frou. And while I disagree with most of your opinions, I still have respect for what you say.
@Veslfen:
That’s because you’re made of WIN!
Froo is made of WIN, too. She can get her
point across and stand her ground without
resorting to name calling, etc.
rhorho:
Veslfen is made of WIN!!
Froo is made of WIN too… I guess…
@so: It’s not that bad. Cheer up!
Froo and Eds are well respected because of
their demeanor. They get heaps of respect
on PK because they endure much at the
hands of trolls on their “side,” with grace.
When any of us argue, we stick to the issues.
I think it’s because we know we will see each
other again. There are a lot of things to like
about froo and Eds on a personal level, too.
PK is different in that we can argue one
minute, then joke around the next. It’s a
strange, but very fun set-up.
/NyQuil induced rambling
Was it necessary to ask for a litany of her beliefs? LOL A few safe ones and then that last one was priceless – tautology anyone? Definitions, definitions.
Froo, you’re not attacked because you join in the pecking parties yourself. You curry favor by only attacking people “on your side” (whatever that really means) and by picking a few safe choices so you can be the token “conservative”. It’s really pathetic to watch, and the more desperate you get to tell us how respected you are, the more pathetic it is.
rho – fwiw, I would NEVER consider froofroo to be on any “side” that I’m on
Not that you people can distinguish all the various sides, but still. None of you ever need lump me in with her; I shall speak MY mind and it needn’t ever reflect on her or eddy – who, holy hell, that’s a “conservative” too? LOL
Aren’t there any libertarians here? Am I seriously the only one? Wtf?
@so: There may have been a time when I was ‘talked down to’, but that hasn’t been for a good long time. I probably agree with most of what froo does, with some exceptions, but as far as mainstream beliefs go, you’re incorrect. I’m NOT your typical Republican and I think that your just being a mouthpiece. You really should just take a step back and get the lay of the land before you start spouting off crap that you either have no knowledge of or can’t back up.
-
In other words, STFU. I don’t think you have been around long enough to pass any judgements on who backs who. I can tell you with certainty that froo, and some of the others in the past (like ema, who I wish was still around) have backed me up nicely.
Who is the ‘us’ that I’m trying to win over here? You and your cronies? That would be like me asking to be friends with the weird kid down the street who eats nothing but mayonnaise on saltines.
-
Sweetie, as much as you’d like, you’re not an ‘us’. You’re not a regular, even though you post here as though we all don’t view you as a raving loony.
@annie451:
So you’re also a walking encylopedia of what a conservative is? pffffft
So then explain why you can have your “us” and we can’t have ours.
Why must we “back up our claims” when we are talking to each other and not even challenging you? Those of our bent frequently post in a non-threathening manner, yet suddenly everyone becomes aggressive and attempts to drive off the outsider if they disagree in the slightest. Feint, thrust, parry. And if someone is agreeing with someone else’s point that you disagree with, so what? Isolationist, much?
Do we intervene and insult when your “us” is having a “huggles”; when someone’s cat dies and everyone’s offering support, or when someone “squees” over flowers and dragonflies? Nope. You’re having an “us” moment, and as much as it makes me cringe (most hetero guys don’t squee), I leave you be, as do the rest of my “us”. Hate to break it to you, but that’s when you’re all most vulnerable, yet we respect your private interactions and keep our gobs firmly slammed shut.
So why can’t you let us have the same types of interactions without acting like “seperate but equal” supporters? Oh yeah, we’re allowed our opinions, but we’re not allowed to have them in the front of the bus with the rest of you. We can post here, but unless we are perfect we either need to Uncle Tom or STFU.
Tell me, how exactly did Rosa back up her opinion on where she should sit? What precedent or legitimate news source did she have to be allowed to physically occupy the seat SHE wanted?
It’s a public drinking fountain, but I guess I’m not the right “whatever” to quench my thirst here.
golf clap!!
The citations are requested from ACTUAL news sources, not political blogs. if you have them, great, people will listen to you. If not, they will point out that opinion pieces do not equal fact. No one will try to run you off if you don’t behave childishly, i.e. obscenities, name calling, angry rants. It’s called discussion. if you are actually willing to discuss, and not just rant, fine, have at it. Look back at your posts and the responses to them. This post is fairly calm, and you’re likely to get calmer responses. You are definitely not Rosa parks, and the comparison is not a good one. You are not a martyr, however you may see yourself. No one is persecuting you, they are just calling you on childish behavior. have whatever opinion you want, just express it in a more professional manner and you’ll be heard.
Also, same as if you were to challenge one of “us” on a claim with actual news sources, we have the right to respond to any post here. If you want an echo chamber go elsewhere. If you want dialogue, stick around, but be prepared to legitimately back up your position. It’s simple. You won’t be unwelcome if you can behave rationally.
The problem lies with the inherent bias in this site. You have to back up your claims because you are in a minority, the same as a liberal would have to do if they were on a mainly conservative site. You stay out of mainly ‘private’ moments because you are not here with enough regularity to be included in them.
-
This has nothing to do with being placed in the back of the bus. It has everything to do with being completely outnumbered and being forced to play nice if you want to get a piece of cake. There is no shame in being graceful about being asked (or demanded) to get a source for what you’re selling.
“No one will try to run you off if you don’t behave childishly, i.e. obscenities, name calling, angry rants. It’s called discussion.” –
One word: Fester.
I hope you’re not planning on leaving anyway, Mike
I enjoy your posts.
As to mainstream news sources – heh. Zero credibility with many of us; that’s just how it is. They’ve been committing gross malpractice and should almost all be fired. Like you said, Mike, when we’re talking to each other anyway, that’s neither here nor there, though.
Keep your cake; we’re here to enjoy the good LOLs and poke fun at the politicians we don’t like – it doesn’t require any explanation unless the official site stance is “Conservative not welcomed except in specific circumstances” and I haven’t seen anything of that nature. If I do, I would definitely leave. Naturally I removed the site from my blogroll; when it’s a little more balanced, as it seems it may become, I might reconsider. No biggie. Meeting cool people who have a clue about economics and the constitution and the travesty going on right now is reward in and of itself; no pieces of cake from the opposition are desired.
Amen, So – that’s so true it’s not even funny.
Ah, yes, arrogant one, you must respond with “the ‘royal us’ determines legitimacy.” No, it really doesn’t. Leave us alone to talk to one another, same as we do for you. It’s really an easy concept to grasp.
Whether you like it or not, you are isolationist, and we are being relegated to the back of this proverbial bus by the “us’s” utter refusal to allow us to speak with one another unmolested. Pray tell, would you continue struggling as a lone voice in the mob? You certainly didn’t last night.
Calling us on childish behavior? Surely you jest. Such hyprocisy! The utter ridiculousness of the back-and-forths between those who post here, and yet you have the audacity to call ME childish? As I said, you can all talk about your pee pees and putting them wherever you want; we respect that you enjoy that interaction and thus remain mute.
Leave us be to seek out and interact with one another; we shall do the same.
Do I really need to lay this out in a linear equation for all to understand?
It might be easier if you took your little love fest somewhere else, that way you won’t feel segregated.
Fester’s been called on that stuff on several occasions. Usually he is answering like with like, it comes out only after someone else starts it. I’m not defending the behavior, as Fester can stand up for himself He has a bit bluster but can ALSO BACK UP his arguments with documented facts, usually with several sources. Either way, I’ve seen him get told to calm down on numeraous occasions when the bluster gets out of hand. You need a better example then that. Besides, the majority of people here DON’T post that way.
Oh, and I stand firm in my understanding that there was no factual basis for Rosa Parks, or Abraham Lincoln, or any revolutionary force for change some folk so admire, to act as they did. Their actions were opinion based, and flew directly in the face of the “facts” and “news sources” of the times.
Please, do feel free to argue this point.
If you’re trying to change the world (in the vein of Rosa Parks, Lincoln, or any of the others) by using a LOL comment section to do it, you really need to go back and figure out your priorities.
-
This ain’t a bus, and you ain’t no Rosa Parks.
Wow, what an amazingly arrogant post, Frou. Wtf? There is no reason for anyone to go anywhere else – I see a Donkey and an Elephant at the top of the main page, as well as “Democrats, News, Republicans” buttons. Granted there is not one for libertarians, but that’s not the point. There have been leftist *and* conservative lols posted on the main page. Stop being a gatekeeper of a site that really doesn’t even belong to you and let people talk to each other if they want. What in the HELL is so hard about that? You who claim to be so courteous can’t display the most basic of simple manners? You’d rather stomp your feet and hold your breath and tell them to “leave” rather than leave them to talk to one another? What a ridiculous display of nasty. Your true colors are showing, and they ain’t rainbow.
God, if I get “ignored” any more than this I’m gonna be smothered by the attention. Yeesh. Friend me at ICHC, Mike, if you feel like; I’d like to see your stuff. I have the same name there.
@mike You haven’t seen me engage in many of those type of conversations, I assure you. I didn’t continue last night for two reasons. I was being childishly insulted, and every response I gave was greeted only with bile. The second reason was not that I gave up, but rather I actually had to sleep.
You can talk amongst each other, sure, but this site really hasn’t ever worked that way. Everybody posts to anything that’s written here. As I continue to say, it’s been about dialog. I approached you on this thread nicely, giving you a chance to talk with me and others peaceably, but I only get kicked in the teeth for it. You claim it is this so called “we” that is so isolationist, but it is the “we” that has been offering these olive branches right along. You have been the ones to refuse them. There exists a culture on any forum. Discourse rules here, with a smattering of quirky and occasionally clever puns and/pr innuendo. Same as anywhere, there are social norms. You have beenn offered by myself, froo, and several others to join the discussion, but you spit on us, calling us isolationist, followed by insults to our intelligence. People would take you seriously if you’d behave like an adult instead of an arrogant teen who thinks he’s got all the answers.
You guys seem to be having trouble playing nice, I’m simply giving you a suggestion as to how you can be happy with one another. I dunno about you, but if I walked into, say, a grocery store, and everyone there started smacking me with sticks, I wouldn’t hang around to see if anyone else was buying the same kind of oatmeal I was going in there after. I’d either leave, or try to figure out why I was being hit with sticks. If they were hitting me because I had come in with a gun brandishing it about, I’d put away my gun, try to explain myself in a calm manner, and thereby avoid the whacks with sticks. Otherwise, I’d leave, because obviously I’m either not welcome, or am doing something that is considered unseemly.
-
I guess the short version of my post is, if you guys are not happy with the treatment you are receiving here, there are lots of conservative comment sites I’m sure that will welcome you. I’m sure there are even lots of Libertarian sites that you can go to where you fit in happily. Otherwise, stop being surprised when you get verbally smacked a little for not acting like an adult.
It would be your idol who is hoping for changing the world, dear little one.
I just want to be allowed the same right you have — to be able to interact in a public forum with those with whom I share a fundamental ideology without being gang raped into silent submission.
Might I suggest some light reading by author Harriet Beecher Stowe?
“Usually he is answering like with like, it comes out only after someone else starts it”
Look at the peaceful conversations between the poster called “Robert” and some of the others on here, and then look at his conclusion…
Why is he not banished to trolldom?
@ Mike: Who is my idol again? And you have the same rights as I do, but you can’t seem to play nice.
-
@ So: Robert has a history with Fester. You need to read further back than yesterday’s LOLs to get that.
“I’m sure there are even lots of Libertarian sites that you can go to where you fit in happily.” – Separate but equal?
No, just completely separate.
Try reading associated press or something at least. This is a political forum, most people are quite wiling to provide links to back up their arguments when asked. All they want are the facts of actual documentable proof. Using only opinion pieces as fact makes you a conspiracy theorist at best. You can’t pluck facts out of thin air. Opinions have to be formed about real events, none of which are documented by what pundits interpret as what “could have happened” Why are you afraid to look at things in depth instead of going by what people tell you to believe?
“No, just completely separate.” – Bigot.
How many times do I have to reiterate that playing nice and citing facts never got those who revolutionized the world anywhere?
Oh, and ladies, I’m a veritable font of useless trivial factoids. I was an investigative journalist for quite some time prior to my current incarnation, and am thus immune to sh!t slinging. Not a one of those supposed facts you’re requesting mean a good goddam compared to a strong worldview inclusive of one’s fundamental beliefs taking into account one’s experiences. You want links? I’ll damn sure give them to you. I’ll blow your tiny little minds with the TONS of bullsh!ttery available that either proves or disproves your, and my, points. I can skew my stats to fit any story, and do it within a specified number of words or centimeters.
Instead of wasting one another’s time with trivial “he said, she said” bullsh!t, why not just call off your slathering herd and allow us the teensiest bit of unmolested bandwith.
Well, off to earn my tuppence. Sorry, Annie, it’ll have to be tomorrow.
Bated breath, and all.
You know, this is ridiculous, you are taking yourselves entirely too seriously in here. This is an entertainment site and that’s all it is. If Jimmy Kimmel makes a George Bush joke no one in the audience jumps up and yells “sources”!!
People mainly come in here to laugh and have fun, if you
don’t appreciate their jokes, scroll past!
You’re still under the impression that you’re going to change the world through a comment section. I suggest starting protests in real life, or something that might get you further than simply railing against rules of etiquette on an LOL site that you seem to refuse to get. We’re not asking you to do anything other than play nice, and when asked, cite. If that’s so far above the pale, then you really are in the wrong place.
@So: You’re example of Jimmy Kimmel making a joke about GWB doesn’t track. Now, if Jimmy Kimmel stood up in front of his audience and said that GWB was directly responsible for taking down the Twin Towers, and that he personally blew up the USS Cole, THEN it would stand to reason that he would need sources. Since he is, however, a comedienne telling a joke, he’s not required to source material.
-
The reason we ask for sources on this site is simply because peoole tend to shoot bile out of their mouths that they have either heard in passing and didn’t hear right, got off a conspiracy blog, or otherwise are lying about. The need for sources is necessary, and not wrong to ask for.
We don’t ask for sources on jokes, only on those things provided as so-called “fact.” Mike is saying that he doesn’t ever plan to provide any backups to his arguments, just spin what he says into his superior sounding self righteous vocabulary and act all persecuted. I’m still waiting for the “tons” of real news sources that he can provide us all with to blow our tiny little mind with his brilliance. Either that or he’ll pick up all his toys, and go home, refusing tp play nice. When we remind him he hasn’t actually shown us any of the toys, he throws a tantrum of self righteous indignations/persecution.
People from both sides of the proverbial aisle have offered olive branches to Ainee and Mike, so they might fit in and TRULY be heard, but they only spit in our faces and blame it on the evil “us.” In reality, It shouldn’t have to be “us” vs. “them”, but they insist on it. For all of ainees supposed love of the constitution, she truly has no concept of dialogue and compromise.
Froo types faster than me. I’m off to bed, it’s past my bedtime, in case anybody thought I just chickened out or anything. LOL
Dang…I was gonna make a comment on some of the stuff waaaaaay up there, but I think that train left the station already. I suppose it’s to be expected when 300 comments are added between when I go to bed and when I get back up…
Robert, I know the feeling. The one I wanted
to answer is now 13 screens up on my
standard sized laptop. This one got away
from us snoozers, didn’t it?
rho: I guess so…I work nights, so I went to bed right before everything went crazy… And if you adjusted your resolution, that’d help.
And for those of you who had forgotten/are new to the party, Fester’s and my history started with him calling me a syphilis-addled 12-year old escapee from a mental asylum, wheeler-dealer super-rich day trading war profiteer who enjoyed meat pies made from the poor.
@Robert: Thanks for the tip, but my resolu-
tion isn’t the problem. It’s just a long frickin’
thread!
If it makes you feel any better, you seem
quite well-spoken (written) for a 12-year-
old, and I’m sure that whole silly business
with your tertiary syphyllis explains the
need for your unfortunate incarceration in
the sanitarium. As for the rest, let’s just
suffice to say that Unc can get rambunctious
in his musings.
You seem to have forgotten the nature of
your posts before such an unbridled assault
ensued. IIRC, you were being rather
squirrelly regarding some answers, and
(correct me if I’m wrong) you were rather
set on using the Bible as a logical game-
ender, which to some would be a rather
cheap trick.
That said, you seem to have come out better
for your troubles, so you may have learned
from the experience, yes?
I think the real issue was that before I learned how to subscribe to thread, I’d kinda pop in and out randomly. So of course, in two or three days when the lol in question was 2 or three pages back, and I didn’t remember what I had or hadn’t posted on, I kinda stopped following the thread, which made me look very troll-y. The bible isn’t logical-it’s all faith. Even I know better than to argue with athiests using the bible as evidence.
“As for the rest, let’s just suffice to say that Unc can get rambunctious
in his musings.” Well then! So can Annie and some of the
others on this site, so lets all stop the name calling now.
Ugh YOUR side? Don’t even think about it. We are NOT on the same “side” ulness you’ve developed Stockholm Syndrome. Go pound sand up your butt.
OOOh, fighting talk from Ms.Mensa… that the best you can mange, sweet cheeks? Seems the the reason the right founder is that really, their calibre of posting is little better than the keyboard pounding of an angel dusted chimpanzee…
Aww, Fisty, I KNOW how hard you find it to resist my dazzling brilliance, but why don’t you give it the old college try? Or at least a token effort, hm?
That’s exactly the problem is that people are far to attatched to their “side” to have an honest dialogue. An open forum, free exchange of ideas is what we’re supposed to be founded on. Ms self-proclaimed libertarian claims to love the constitution, but is too stubborn to realize the document contains a system for COMPROMISE. People won’t even try to see things from another point of view. You can call me a dirty hippie if you want, but screaming virtual obscenities and name calling does not advance the dialogue.
DING.
To say that you are on excellent form would be an understatement. Eloquent, concise and all-round awesome.
Purple, if the remark was directed at me, thanks. If it was a sarcastic remark about the previous poster, also thanks.
Flame wars don’t advance dialog, either, but they still happen. Sometimes people get excited. But Anniee’s insistence on flinging obscenities weakens her arguments and annoys people who would otherwise agree with her.
Anniee remains a spaniel lick turd of the conservative right…
I have seen “attack-laden” posts by just about everyone in here,
including you.
Hmmmm…….I think someone left the dryer door open.
Can we slam it shut on his head?
In all fairness, Bimbo Eruption Squad is a very nice way to put it. simple and says what it is.
“I always wondered how so many feminists defended a sexual predator like Clinton” – I also wonder why nary a peep from feminists about
the appalling treatment of women in Islamic countries where
they are beaten for being raped. They are insane, that’s why. But,
oh, how they will attack Bush…
Well Bush is da boogeyman of their darkest nightmares for some reason. You remember, who was it, Steinem? Saying she’d give Clinton a BJ for keeping abortion legal? LOL
But on a serious note, I do sometimes see feminists complain about what happens in those countries, but…they don’t come to the same conclusions normal people do. It gets very strangely twisted :/
Oh please.
If you read Ms. magazine, as I have since the early 1980′s, you would know that Ms was covering the Taliban’s anti-woman activities from the very beginning–Afghanistan used to have a pretty good record with women physicians and government officials, until Russia bailed out of the war there..
Ms has also all along covered how Islamic dominant countries like Saudi Arabian, and now Nigeria, tend to do things like charge rape victims for ‘adultery’, and then imprison them on death row until after they give birth to the bastard child…
And there were discussions of Bill Clinton’s ‘troubles’. But those paled against the more serious actions of the Taliban, the sex tourism trade of Southesast Asian and other important topics like that.
I read a lot about the Taliban from feminists…right up until 9/11, when suddenly there was a blackout and Bush became BushHitler. There has been a decided change in substance since then.
Prove it.
Yeah, really. I didn’t see a ‘taliban blackout’ in Ms.
And yes, I still subscribe to Ms…
Working vacations do not vacations make, darling.
LOL – Obama pushed through the stimulus before the congress had time to READ it or debate it, because he said it was desperate and had to pass NOW. Then as soon as it was signed he said “So long suckas” and went on a 3 day vacation. He didn’t sign it until the 4th day. Days in which the congress COULD have read it.
Try harder.
you mean like the ‘Patriot Act’ under Captain Vacation himself?
Ah, the baying of the insane is always fun…
Yes, very much like that, in fact. Why should that surprise you? I’m no Bush apologist. Though it differed to some degree because there was a very definite and direct threat of attack on us at the time. But very similar things.
One addressed weakness in the system that caused a problem. The ohter reinforced weaknesses in the system and will likely make the problem worse. That said, in either instance there’s no excuse not to read damn bills you vote for. Frickin’ democracy sucks sometimes. It is, of course, the best option, but still a poor one.
Actually, for the Partiot Act, there was a cart load of time, parts were classified… There again if the right wing of the senate was better than a bunch of gerrymandering loons at the moment things may actually go better…
If the senate was the body that moderates (like it was designed to be) instead of the body most likely to jump at every knee-jerk response of the public, that would help a lot too.
Indeed… although the real fruitloops seem to be in the house of Reps
More localized districts, a lot more polarization.
Although, I don’t necessary mind that. I prefer a government that spends more time bickering than passing stupid laws.
You know he was real tired after all those White House parties he and michelle are having every other night for their celebrity friends at $100 pound beef and the best wine… A real man of the people… Lincoln!
You mean the hoax about the room service bill, please. That was debunked eons ago. If you have further cases of said behavior I invite you to provide a citstion of evidence.
While people were freezing to death in Kansas; don’t forget that! He didn’t understand why the crackers didn’t just turn up the thermostats to 78 like he does in the White House, I suppose. A month in and he already had his own Katrina.
Nice racism. Citation?
Wait…what racism? I think Annie was pulling a Kanye. Irritating, to be sure, but not racist.
And no, not the room service tab. We’re talking Jan 28. Here’s a blog…alsas, apparently the Man of the People dining on $100/lb Kobe steaks didn’t rate as news to the “conservative” media…
The whole first page of google hits for “obama
kobe steak” are blogs. Don’t you know that
blogs often cite each other? Let’s call this one
unsubstantiated until someone with sources
can verify, okay? Really, you wouldn’t (and
shouldn’t) accept a blog cite from me for a
left wing nut job opinion of mine, would
(should) you?
(Sorry for butting in, Min, but you’re asleep, and
I’m dealing with insomnia.)
I realize that. In all fairness, however, I did use the blog of an ABC White HOuse Correspondent (ie, a real reporter), and not NewsMax or Free Republic or Michelle Malkin, or a bald guy in his mother’s basement.
Hey, Robert prised himself free of the spirit to post junk here too…
Still saying nothing loudly there Roberto… keep up the work making the right seem inchoerent…
Shut up, you don’t matter…
Who does ‘matter’? I don’t, you don’t… in fact, in my world, you matter less than I do… so screw you dry…
Well, none of us are in your world. Sorry to shock you like this, but this forum isn’t “your world”. So, shut your trap and we’ll all be happier.
I see more people willing to discuss/debate/joke/poke fun at, etc. with fester than you, so I’m pretty sure your opinion and ordering around don’t matter a whole lot.
That’s cuz Fester’s loud and obnoxious. He’s a lightning rod for attention. For instance, I’m not sure what the hell he’s talking about up above. But he’ll yell it loudly because he enjoys the attention. It’s amusing.
If you’ll notice, he doesn’t start the poo flinging.
It’s interesting, really. If it ever looks like he
has started a problem, go back a few LOLs and
you’ll find the real start of it. He may not be the
picture of patience, but it could be said that a
lot of the rest of us waste time trying to reason
with people who clearly don’t want to engage
on a reasonable level. I’ve thought about it a
bit: IMO he’s quicker to conclude someone to be
unreasonable than I am, but I’ve been wrong
more often than he has.
I dunno…it just seems to me that he would make more headway being resonable than firing off insults. But I’ve just come to accept it. And he’s given me a fairly wide berth this lol, so I haven’t engaged him much this time. I’d imagine he and I would enjoy having a beer together. If I ever make it to the UK again, I might have to try to coax him into sunlight.
For the sake of your family, friends and pets,
I hope your travels take you to other places
besides Merry Ol’.
People don’t find me easily. And Robert, dear, you don’t make the list of people I’d want to find me.
“He may not be the
picture of patience, but it could be said that a
lot of the rest of us waste time trying to reason
with people who clearly don’t want to engage
on a reasonable level. ” You all enable him in his bad behavior.
Merry Ol….
C’mon Fester, it’d be fun! At least I’d get a chance to drink real beer, instead of watered down, hoppy American crap…
Yeah, we enable him, but it’s fun!
So: wasting time with no identity just makes you a target
Robert: I’d sooner remove my own eyes with a heated apostle teaspoon…
That might also be entertaining.
OK, since the hint isn’t being taken, how about, if you cropped up on my doorstep, I remove your eyes with a heated apostle teaspoon, and then dump your dying carcase on the salt marsh below the tide line…
You’re going to turn him on if you keep talking dirty like that, UF…
Fester, you’re so easy to get riled up…it makes me grin.
let´s see: not superficial, active, doesn´t spend thousands on something as worthless as the wardrobe, has an old sole
Or….
Worn down shoes, nobody sees those. Expensive suit, on the other hand, always in full view. You can make your own conclusions from there.
*cough*Palin*cough*
…had nice clothes purchase for her buy the RNC to try to pretty her up for people who had never heard of her before. Unless you’re implying there was a disengenousness about the persona of Palin, I’m not sure what your point is, rho…
*by
What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, dear.
What did you mean by “Expensive suit…always in full view?” It
sounded like you were trying to imply something suspicious there.
Do you have any inkling why I might have thought so?
Yup…I was trying not to say I think he’s fake. But I was implying it very heavily. All sizzle, no steak. Of course, with the brilliant epiphany that politicians are fake, I’d also like to point out that fire is hot and water is wet.
All politicians are fake, but you chose to single out only one…
Your recovery attempt was awkward, but it’s good to see that
you have two of the four elements down pat.
“Unless you’re implying there was a disengenousness about
the persona of Palin”
Yes. Yes, I was. And so are you…now.
Actually, I would say she was thrust into a situation where she was forced to be something she wasn’t by McCain’s staff. But, unless she decides to run in 1012, odds are we’ll never know.
Forced to be something she wasn’t… You mean like…qualified?
Oh sweet Jesus…please don’t start that track of argument. Unless you’re prepared to argue that a woman with more experience than Bill Clinton is somehow less qualified than a single-term state senator and single-term US senator who won his first two seats because his (Republican and Democrat) opponents’ sealed divorce records were forcibly torn open by leftist judges.
Because then I’ll have to think very little of your intelligence.
Oh, and to answer your question, I mean slightly to the right John McCain.
Experience has not proven to be a good
measure of a president or VP’s ability in office.
After all, Cheney had experience going in, and
look where that got us.
Palin came across as a hard-of-thinking
religious nut who didn’t draw anything to the
ticket except for the crowd of religious nuts who
didn’t like McCain. The strategists who thought
Palin would have broader appeal (and the ability
to catch disgruntled Clinton voters) were, simply
put, wrong. The GOP didn’t pull it together, but
it was no small task, considering the long
shadows cast by the Bush/Cheney experience.
I think you will agree that the party now is in
disarray. Instead of arguing about the ghosts of
the past, you should consider doing something
to push the party forward, if that’s what you
think needs to happen.
I can agree to enough of what you said to say “OK,” but I do have to take issue with the “hard of thinking religious nut.” That was a caricature painted by the opposition when they realized that a real conservative on McCain’s ticket could spell doom for Obama. As far as pulling it together, choosing McCain, who had spent the last 6 years jamming his thumb firmly into the eye of conservatives had more to do with that difficulty than anything Bush and Cheny ever did.
Well, we have different takes, then, and
that’s fine. To me, it felt like McCain/Palin
were quite separated from Bush/Cheney.
When Bush endorsed McCain, I remember
McCain making several references to Bush’s
“busy schedule.” The GOP convention was
another tip-off to me that the Bush shadow
was actively avoided. Bush appeared via
satellite, but there was a storm to blame, as
well. I don’t remember how many times the
name “Bush” was mentioned on stage at the
GOP convention, but it wasn’t many.
Anyway, all of that to show how I came
about my impression.
Passing by here, and had another thought.
The primary voters were the ones who
selected “McCain, who had spent the last 6
years jamming his thumb firmly into the eye
of conservatives,” so perhaps the majority of
the grass roots GOP wanted the one who was
the least like GWB. Is that possible to you?
Nah, that couldn’t be it. LOL
Or the fact that that Iowa and New Hampshire are a) not bastions of conservatism and b) have open primaries. Add to that the fact that everyone was scared to death of Hillary and felt McCain was the only one who could beat him. Finally, the fact that McCain outright lied about Romney right as they were growing close and the conservative wing was split between Romney and Huckabee. You’re right about the GOP grassroots wanting someone who was not like Bush, but in the other direction. We wanted Reagan, not Rockafeller.
I can look it up, and I’m not challenging you,
but, out of curiosity, what was the lie McCain
told about Romney? Sorry not to be better
informed about the GOP stuff, but I was
buried in Dem work at the time.
I see the primary timing better, and agree on
the non-conservo-bastionality (sounds dirty)
of New Hampshire and possibly Iowa. The
Romney/Huckabee split of the religious vote
is your most convincing argument imo.
Open primaries don’t make a lot of differ-
ence, especially when both sides are hotly
contested, as was the case at the time.
“We wanted Reagan, not Rockefeller.” You
didn’t have a Reagan in the race, so there
wasn’t much chance of one winning, now,
was there?
He said that Romney supported a timetable in Iraq and that he had disrespected Bob Dole, who’s big with the older members of the party. That was right before…one of the primaries. Not sure which one, but it was very tight and Romney was tracking just ahead of McCain before, and dropped below after McCain started accusing him of things. And you’re half right. Fred Thompson would have been a great choice-alas, he decided to wait far too long to actually get involved, and he couldn’t generate any momentum. Damn shame, imo.
You are right. You don’t want to start that argument about her qualifications. Myself and many others here will offer many documented sources as to her “qualifications.” Not being able to name a single magazine she read is a pretty good indicator of her capabilities. Mayor of a town smaller than the size of a single major university? Governor of a state smaller than many of our major cities? Not to mention, it’s a state with unique needs, particularly with logistics/infrastructure, so not a good microcosm of the nation. Found guilty of corruption. Overzealous religious agenda, a threat to the separation of church and state. Proximity stated as foreign relations relevance? Please. The woman is a huge joke.
“Found guilty of corruption. Overzealous religious agenda, a threat to the separation of church and state.”
Citation, please.
And I still think she was way overhandled by McCain’s cammpaign, but as I stated, if she runs in 2012, I’ll know for sure.
I will say this, however: it takes much more to impress me as a presidential candidate than as a vice presidential candidate.
Here’s the guilty of corruption/abuse of power story. Her debate answers about women’s rights as well as other, earlier published comments are the basis for the overzealous wing-nut remarks. Not to mention the thing about WQasilla being one of the only towns in the sate charging rape victims for the evidence kits. I can get a link for that as well, but I can only post one at a time.
Here’s one link. I posted some more but it got eaten. Seeing if it takes this time.
Well, I didn’t swear, but PK eating my posts. Not sure if it’s my link, or ewhat. I’ll try again without.
Try this link?
Expect an ‘and your momma’ response, if he bothers to reply…
Min, he’s a wing nut… not quite as overt as Anniee, who seems to be delusional
Fester has spoken! Everyone take note, quick!!
Indeed, nice to see you’re set to be my Bosworth…
You need help, that’s for sure…
LOL, so I gather. Also rather defensive if you ask them to prove anything.
Our proof amounts to nothing in here, it’s immediately discounted, then we are attacked. That’s pretty much it. Why do you think most real conservative posters have left or gone underground? Conservatives are just indefensible?
If you can’t cite something other than a right wing blog or Rush Limbaugh, of course you’re going to be smacked down. Learn to argue. I’m sure they have classes at the local community college for effective communication.
Is that where you learned? I’m not talking about myself, little girl.
Nothing new, except now you’re throwing in more derogatory terms that you probably don’t understand. You’re cute, really.
No, your citations are fine if they come from real news sources and not political blogs. They have to be fact, not opinion based.
Wow…another flame war without me, and in this instance on a thread I was even part of. Again, offended…
That’s not a conviction, Minerva. And Mike Wooten was a terrible blight on the force, and should have been dismissed by any rational judgment. There’s also the issue that Mr. Monegan was a political appointee. What is it with the crazy vendetta against the firing of political appointees? Also, the very article you posted outright says no crime was committed, as does [LINK]. Of course, I haven’t even addressed the insubordination re: budget issues, which was the official reason for his dismissal. Finally, the charging of victims for the SAE wasn’t her policy-it was in place when she got there.
Robert, do I recall correctly that you’re a
Young Earth Creationist?
Negative. Someone wanted me to be, one time. I had to disappoint them.
Sorry about my mistake: My memory isn’t
what it used to be.
*sets up Ginkgo biloba IV drip*
Eh, it’s cool. A lot goes on here…hard to keep track of, I’d imagine.
no, he’s not a young earther, but Jesus loves him…
Reminds me a little of the Trainwreck Chaser in his love teh babble…
Is it just me, or does it look like he has REALLY LONG LEGS from this angle?
Much like his campaign, it’s done with tricky camera work
A politician with holes in his shoes, 200 comments, and not one Adlai Stevenson reference? Where are the political junkies?
http://www.flintjournal.com/125/paper/galleries/history/source/14.html
YES!!!!!! I was just thinking that!!! God, the only reason I came to the comment portion was to see if anyone picked up on it, and I had been severely disappointed so far. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
And it’s especially apt because I think Obama’s a lot like Adlai II. Intellectual, liberal, a good speaker, humorous (albeit in an often dry way), running against a military man . . . yay parallelism! Though Obama didn’t lose horribly. Which is a good thing.
Worn out and full of holes? Like his socialist policies?
All right, this is getting ridiculous.
Let it be known henceforth that anyone who says socialism is bad for a country is an idiot. Enjoying those police/fire departments? Anything provided by the government, for the people, paid by the people’s taxes is a form of socialism.
Honestly. You remove socialism from a system and you’ve pretty much gutted most of the system.
btw, no one (that’s right, not even Obama) is striving for a 100% socialist system. If you think that, get your head checked please.
THANK YOU.
*offers you some pickled red herring*
*offers snaps* Akavit?
People should stop bashing socialistic policies. Believe it or not, only a few people have all the money in capitalism. To create a truly perfect enterprise, you have to have a mix of capitalism and socialism.
Besides, the only “socialist policy” he has is about health care which is corrupt and over priced, which means if you don’t have insurance, you can’t get help. I don’t know about you, but I’d like to know that if I lose my job and my leg at the same time, I can still get help from a doctor without going into debt.
the funny thing about this is he bought a set of DVDs as a gift for some big european figure. in the mean time he’s spending a trillion dollars in his first month, so he’s either incredibly smart or incredibly stupid. either way he’s one arrogant f*ck
… not to mention this shit looks photoshopped.
The president received an average grade of 59 out of 100, according to a Wall Street Journal poll of 49 economists, with 42% of respondents rating Obama below 60.
While 60 is a pretty dismal grade, Obama fared better than Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, who got an average grade of 51. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke came out on top, scoring an average of 71.
“The Obama team has blown it,” said David Resler of Nomura Securities.
(Sorry, I don’t know how to put a link in my name. But it’s on msn.com’s money page.
But no, Murdoch hasn’t slanted the Journal’s editorial position AT ALL.
I don’t think any of Murdoch’s media outlets should be taken with much more than a grain of salt.
A grain of salt, a slice of lime, and a shot of tequila.
I’d like to apply your ‘two drink minimum’ here
I think that would also be a completely true sentence if you elided “of Murdoch’s”…
You guys realize there are 332 comments
About a pair of shoes.
Jesus. People will do ANYTHING to bad-mouth the president.
Insert a large eye roll.
it isnt called “bad-mouthing” it’s called expressing one’s feelings about something that could change the way we live! and by “ANYTHING” do you mean “tell the truth”?
Ummm… that he’s not an Iraqi journalist?
WIN!
well all i can tell is that he is a fear mongering, socialist-leaning empty bag of useless campaign words who isnt helping the energy situation by not taking up the reign of safe nuclear power and safe storage..
More from Politico (link) – go ahead lefties, you’ll like that one. It’s actually pretty funny.
maybe it’s just me but i saw this as kinda a racist joke. one of those “black on the outside white on the inside” kinda things.
Are you retarded or just illiterate? If so, there are a lot of social programs available to help you. You may want to take advantage of one.
It would have to be the first one-he was at least able to write that rather bizarre observation…
Please credit this photo. It was taken by Callie Shell (Aurora agency) for Time magazine and is copyright.
If only he would spread his legs a little bit more, I could have some great wacking material now.
