LOL I know exactly what you mean there. Arizona actually has a law called “the stupid motorist law” that states if there is a warning sign and you drive your car through a flooded wash anyway, you have to pay for your own rescue. That always makes me giggle.

Ye, it is kinda hard to tell for sure where it’s at…and pardon the eyesight…it starts to get a bit fuzzy once you pass 40…8-p…I can’t really tell alot of the detail in the pic…but it just looks like alot of the pics from the flood zones in Qld…

Oh…and the only chuckle I got out of the whole situation is the fact that one thing you kept hearing was that the pubs were running out of beer…oh, noooooos!!!

I thought this was funny. I live in what most would call “the sticks” and roads are vital to us. I knew immediately what DOT stands for. No, it doesn’t look North American, but the idea is funny. My sympathy goes out to the Aussies who have been hit hard by nature’s forces.

A relative works for the DOT and I would love to send him a link to this, but he is very conservative and I don’t want to hear from him about some of the other postings on here. LOL I’m keeping this my little secret.

Diss, what state is that? It sounds quite similar to the method they use in Pa, with one slight difference…if your son’s ID came out with a mistake, you’d have to start the process over again. The young men that I work with all have to get state ID’s and Driving Permits (which go through the DMV) and that has happened on more than one occasion…

Love it! My most recent experience with the dmv here involved taking my son there. We went through the process: You get in “line 1″. When you get to the front of this line, you tell them what you are there for and they give you the appropriate form and a number. These numbers have varying letter prefixes…like B-47 or whatever. Then you wait for them to call your number, and this is the fun part — they might call three A numbers in a row, then a G, then two Cs and you’re sitting there with B-47 and note that the last B to get called was B-42…an hour ago.

Anyway, after all that we got all the forms done & processed and waited for them to call him to have his picture made. Got it taken and waited for the ID. He walked up to the desk to pick it up and then I see him pointing at the thing in an annoyed way and talking to the clerk….he walks back over looking out of sorts and plunks down into the chair. They’d made a mistake on his ID…it said he was “female”. We got it fixed….

diss, after my husband and I finally went through the run around (that took a few weeks) to get our West Virginia driver’s licenses, the woman behind the counter handed them to us and said, “Welcome! You are now official hillbillies!” She had the slightest hint of a smile when she said it, and we laughed. It almost made the runaround bearable. Almost.

I’d doubt that it’s the QL floodings. As far as I can see, there is not one caucasian looking dude in that photo. I’d guess India pr some other part of Asia*. (There seems to be some peculiar (as in not-the-Roman-alphabet) writing on that van too).

Looks like this may be a pic of the recent flooding they’ve had in northern Queensland. There are whole towns that are completely surrounded by water and they’ve been that way for a couple months now. It’s horrible! Food supplies having to be flown in and dropped cuz there’s nowhere for planes to land…crocs being washed into people’s back yards…kids having to be driven thru swollen creeks full of crocs to be able to get to school…there was one truck full of kids that was even attacked by a croc…and the water is receding none too quickly…but even so, the people in some of these areas have put together what they could to help out the victims of the bush fires in Victoria…way too much tragedy going on in Oz, at the moment…and not a damn thing funny about it.
