@FS: I think the VA is doing a better job than many private sector health care options, yes. Because of the transparency, and the accountability. If the VA were privately run, there would be no recourse when the greedy executives cut funding for vital services. The government may make mistakes, but they are CORRECTABLE. As for googling the things you mention, I did and found nothing except right wing blogs with no sources. And you may want to read the snopes.com article on the NYT article in question. The article you mention is far more nuanced than you make it out to be. Pressure from the government was only one reason. Pressure from stockholders and the institutions that SOLD the loans to fannie and freddie was the bigger reason those institutions relaxed their rules. [LINK] in my name to the snopes article.

furthermore when the gov’t decided to move affirmative action to the housing market and lower the standards for people to buy houses THEY COULD AFFORD this whole mess started, thanks Clinton and goons, hmm mall Democrats, I don’t see any trend there at all……

So then since our taxes are so low and wonderful we must not do anything like say: tax corporations when they produce, tax them again when they export, have them be taxed for importing to another country, and since, wait for it, this is priceless, corporations don’t pay taxes they pass them along to the CONSUMER that makes the cost of items go up and companies less likely to perform globally against tax systems that are less likely to punish a corporation for manufacturing and selling goods globally.
