Governments contain mechanisms that limit their activities(checks and balances) and that allow for change (elections). Corporations are only limited by laws, imposed by governments.

Governments exist to enforce a social contract between the citizenry and the various branches of the government. Corporations exist to generate profit by providing some good or service, usually at the lowest possible cost to the corporation and the highest possible cost to the consumer.

Governments are ultimately answerable to the citizenry. Corporations are only answerable to their shareholders.

A corrupt person in authority in government can be removed through government action or through popular action. A corrupt person in authority in a corporation is usually generating profit for the corporation, and is maintained.

You can’t vote out the CEO of Bear Stearns without being a shareholder, but you can vote out your congresscritter.

You’re apparently laboring under the apprehension that taxation is theft. Taxation is payment for services rendered by the government. If you use the services of police, fire department, road maintenance, clean air and water, pure food and medicines, a court system, in short any service provided by local, state or federal government, then you are expected to pay for them. If you don’t like the services or don’t like paying for them, you’re free to revoke your end of the social contract and take your patronage to another country. If you live here and call yourself a citizen, then you keep up your end as a citizen.
