    Nerds are sexy ;)

    • He’s the sexiest President ever.

      This lol isn’t funny though.

        Not. Funny. At. All.
        Also not poignant.
        Soooo…..?

      • 48% says:

Also the most economically illiterate. Most statist. Most arrogant. Least effective. Most dangerous to the constitution and people of the United States. Oooooh … *squeal* isn’t he just the dreamiest????!!!??!!11!!!???

        • I bet you voted for Bush. Twice.

          • mothergoose says:

48% is a Hannity fan…I actually watched part of it last night (I needed a laugh) and he had an author on who used the same terminology: “statist”, “constitutionally dangerous”…I doubt that 48% has had an original thought…

            • dr.erin says:

You know a group of people is screwed when they foist someone like Limbaugh as a role model/leader.
I used to try and watch Hannity, but my blood pressure was getting dangerously high.

              • mothergoose says:

                I watched 15 minutes and needed a shower after…

I feel sorry for the decent Republicans who actually have that tool as a poster boy. As for Rush, he hasn’t been even marginally relevant in a decade, even as far as biased right-wing talk radio goes. Why his popularity has jumped lately is beyond me.

                  • I think it would require a degree in theology and astrophysics with the use of a slinky to find out…

So best not to think about it.

                  • shannon says:

Obama says that hes relevant. he declared Rush an enemy of the state! I beleive that if rush were irrelevant , then Obama wouldnt fear him so much!

                  • BAW says:

Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Dwight Eisenhower, Gerald Ford and even Richard Nixon and possibly Ronald Reagan are whirling in their graves.

            • Dhoti says:

Should we be impressed that you deigned to gaze upon a dissenter with your glorious visage, or amused that you think what’s on TV passes for debate?

              • Uncle Fester says:

Should we be impressed that you’ve descended from your Fortress of Solitude to do impressions of a pig farting in a slime pool?

                • Must you disturb another episode of the Pot calling the Kettle black? It is so deep on so many levels!

Fine, I can’t keep a straight face and say that. Carry on.

                • Dhoti says:

Ah, I was worried your rapier-like wit would have dulled. Glad to see my fears were unjustified.

                  • And we had worried that… *thinks outloud* Eaten by wolverines… No. Raped by wolverines… No. Raped and then eaten by wolverines… Also no. Stabbed by the ghost of a random Monty Python member… No. … …

Damn, I can’t think of anything we were worried about you on.

                    • Dhoti says:

Good. I’d hate to see you take time out of your busy trolling schedule to worry about lil ol me.

                      • Trolling? More like pestering, I would have to purposely post falsehoods and try to piss a large number of people off to be a troll.

                        • ubr says:

can i please have an example?

                        • Dhoti says:

Mind like a steel trap, that one.

                          And sock puppetry! Classy!

                        • Dhoti says:

Wait, remind me how it works here again — do I just scream that I’m right in order to win an argument, or do I scream that I have proof, but never present it?

                        • Sock puppetry? So you are assuming that I have a sock puppet on my friend list here. While I appreciate the low opinion of me, I have to inform you that ubr isn’t my sock. I live in IA and last I checked he was somewhere out west such as CA, if memory serves.

                          Also… Ubr: Huh?

                        • Wait, remind me — are you guys arguing about anything, or just having a pissin’ contest for the hell of it?

                        • Dhoti says:

Not who I was referring to, hayseed. They do breed ‘em slow out there, I guess…

                        • Diss: Just killing time

Dhoti: I would have to have been bred out here for that insult to work.

                        • Dhoti says:

Ah, flyover guilt. It’s quite common, really. But don’t worry — if you keep pretending, very hard, that you’re from a coast, one day, it might come true!

                        • ubr says:

@dhoti – you were referring to me instead of DWN with your
previous post? interesting… considering the kind of intellectual
discourse you have sprinkled through pk the last couple
of weeks i figured you would have had your fill of picking fights
                          with strangers… but here goes…

                          f— off.

@dwn – i was hoping for a nice example of trolling as described by you. since that example does not seem to be forthcoming i shall just have to mention nazis.

                        • Never said I came from an American coast, now did I? Mom was a marine and had me in Okinawa. I was a month old when I left so I can’t say I learned anything or even saw anything. It just makes my passport a little less boring and bears no real relevance other than you still are making assumptions.

                        • @Ubr: … Touche’ oh lover longtime of Wangful Soliloquies…

                        • Dhoti says:

@ubr: Yep, it’s that kind of insightful analysis that makes this a better place.

                          @dwn: I didn’t ask for your backstory.

                        • @Dhoti: Don’t make up idiocy and I won’t have to disprove you.

                        • Dhoti says:

Don’t pull things out of your ass when you have nothing to disprove. You said you come from a square state. I accused you of having flyover guilt. What are you so confused about?

                        • I’m a little confused as to why anyone should feel guilty for not living on a coast. But I’ll live. Goin’ out, y’all.

                        • Have a good evening Diss.

@Dhoti: You called me a Hayseed and said I had flyover guilt while being a poser who pretends to be coastal. All those things were false assumptions and idiocty to disprove. Please keep up with your own nonsense if you are going to accuse me of being slow, it is rather pitiful at this point.

                        • Dhoti says:

Right — anything I say is an “accusation”, but anything you say, when when it’s obviously wrong (I happen to live in Boston, genius) is a fact. Now that we have that double standard cleared up, I see where you’re coming from.

                        • froofrou says:

Here’s the deal, Dhoti, you’re extremely confrontational in your tone regardless as to what you’re saying. You come off as rude. If you could possibly modify your technique and try to come off as less caustic, you might be viewed as less accusatory. So ease up.

                        • ubr says:

@dhoti – you also accused me of being dwn’s sock…
and here i’ll defend dwn (not like he needs my help) but when did dwn say you were from anywhere? boston has just as many as$holes in it as the rest of the country, if not more.
i still don’t even know why you would try to insult me after the comment about the example, but from what i’ve read of you on this forum you do like to throw insults around in the hopes that one will stick and you’ll have a fight with someone. in my opinion you should try listening to other people’s ideas before you go off on your own rants about how they’re stupid. most of us here have college educations and can think rationally. who knows, you might actually learn something…

                        • @Ubr: Thanks pal. :D

@Dhoti: What Ubr said, when the hell did I accuse you of living anywhere?

                        • Dhoti says:

@ubr: No, I accused the wolverine below of being a sock puppet — you just seemed to take it personally. I see above your “what, you’re accusing me?” comment, as opposed to a “wait, are you accusing me?”, which would have cleared that right up. Since you dislike throwing insults around, I figured you would have checked that I was actually insulting you before firing back.

@dwn: “while being a poser who pretends to be coastal”

                        • Johnathan says:

                          @everybody- Flame war, stop, etc?

                        • No, I accused the wolverine below of being a sock puppet — you just seemed to take it personally.

@Dhoti: It seems disingenuous to act surprised that the people posting directly above you assumed you were directing the comment at one of them, as your intent was unclear. Something of a nesting fail, really.

                        • Dhoti says:

Compare the timestamps — it was less of a stretch without the long string of comments to follow. Still, if WP makes it difficult, meh.

                        • @Dhoti: Ya, that is one of the things you said that was pointless. Reflecting on failures to improve yourself?

                    • One of the wolverines says:

….that Dhoti was fvckin’ delicious, by the way….

          • shin0bi272 says:

I bet you’ve never read the constitution

        • mothergoose says:

So…you were listening to Hannity last night…why don’t you try banging your head against a wall..it’ll have a similar effect.

        • The Steve says:

48% – I have two words for you that are “dangerous to the constitution”

          PATRIOT ACT

          • dr.erin says:

            This.
I had the honor of living in one of the few counties that voted to not support the Patriot Act. Not sure that it would have done any good, but it was rather interesting nonetheless.

          • mothergoose says:

I have three more for him: WAR CRIMES…WATERBOARDING

            • Captain Wow says:

You could have just given two: DICK CHENEY.
              *laughs hysterically*
              Why is nobody else laughing….

              • dr.erin says:

We are all in hiding! Do not speak that name, or else HE will come!

                • But…don’t you have to say it three times while facing a mirror? :???:

                  • dr.erin says:

Maybe now that he’s out of power… I still wouldn’t chance it. Can you imagine that face showing up to haunt you?

                    • shannon says:

You just gotta love a man that makes Commies piss themselves with faer!!!

                      • Uncle Fester says:

                        faer?
What Commies? The ones his Govt helped get you in Hock to? Those nice Chinese people?

                      • No, that’s his hunting buddies….I doubt they’re Communists.

                      • purple switch says:

Luckily I’ve never met Cheney, so I’ve never tested the theory. Unles he was armed and aimed, though, I don’t think it’d be too harrowing. Evil is more disgusting than scary, in 99% of cases.
Unless it was him in dsguise that sold me those two jalapeno pizzas the other night. I did piss the closest to fire I ever have. Stung like a mother.

                        • Uncle Fester says:

Bureaucratic Evil is the worst. Everything is a statistic.

                        • purple switch says:

Bureaucracy in general is bad times. Governments who can’t see that what they do is about people, not systems, don’t deserve any kind of power.

                        • shin0bi272 says:

that’s kinda the entire point of the conservatives. Smaller government being the key. With smaller government comes lower taxes since you dont have to fund all of those stupid social programs.

                        • purple switch says:

stupid emergency services, stupid welfare, stupid healthcare. man I’m glad I don’t have to pay for those.
Seriously, do you spit on homeless guys too? Small / Big government has more to do with how much government people need, it’s relative not an absolute.

                    • rhorho says:

Can you imagine that face showing up to haunt you?

So I’m the only one? Again???

                • mothergoose says:

Will Ferell as Bush: “I don’t know what the big deal about waterboarding is. I’ve had it done. I find it relaxes me. They should offer it at spas.”

                  • MG, did you ever see my waterboarding lol?

                    • mothergoose says:

                        • mothergoose says:

                          Because her name isn’t Heather…

                        • I don’t even remember seeing it in voting; PK works in mysterious ways.

                        • But I bet Diss’s lips and tongue are to die for anyway.

                        • I got your back hun. ^_^

                        • pepper says:

The Steve, Obama renewed the Patriot Act.

                        • Uncle Fester says:

                          And that’s a surprise how?
Ain’t a government on God’s green earth that has willingly, and without a gun to its head, revoked as single one of its powers, once it’s finagled them…

                        • The Steve says:

pepper – It’s called a compromise. He signed the best bill presented to him. He actually proposed the SAFE Act, and also preferred the Senate version of the bill. Unfortunately in government compromises must be made, and he ended up with little choice but to sign the bill that the House provided him. I know many people refuse to believe that he’s willing to work across the aisle and make compromises, but this is a great example of him doing exactly that.
                          -
The Patriot Act that Obama signed is NOT the same bill that Bush signed. It strengthens many of the civil liberties that were compromised with the earlier bill. It still isn’t ideal, but it is much better than it was.
                          [LINK]

                        • The Steve says:

Agreed Fester. Once you give them power, they’re not going to just give it back.

That would be like giving the CEO of a company the power to make all decisions, regardless of how the board votes due to the temporary stress of the recession. Then after the recession, you ask that same CEO to back down and allow the board to resume making decisions….good luck. You can’t make him do anything, you already gave him the power. You won’t be getting it back.

                        • rhorho says:

@The Steve: I have been trying to think of the name for it, but Bush gave himself a special power to “ignore” parts of a bill he didn’t like, even though he signed the bill.

It wasn’t the same thing as a line-item veto, though, but it was essentially the same, as the designated element of the bill was not enforced.

Anyway, whatever that was called, Obama repealed it straightaway, as it’s Constitutionality was highly questionable, though unchallenged.

So, at least in that case, Obama took that power away from his office.

                        • Danbala says:

A-Ha! Cunning move in his plot for COMMNUIST DITCACTORSHIPE!!!11!!!!

                        • rhorho says:

…I feel like such a fool! How could he have misled us so convincingly???

                        • The Steve says:

                          You’re right Rho.

I did say that he strengthened many of the civil rights concerns found in the original Bush version of the bill.
                          -
Also, it’s pretty hard to repeal a bill called “The Patriot Act” without a few million people screaming ‘COMMUNOCIALIST!!!” If the bill had been named “The Tyranny Act” I bet he would find it a lot easier to repeal.

                        • Anniee451 says:

The oppressive Patriot Act has nothing to do with communism or socialism. But I’m all for truth in advertising; let’s name the “Employee Free Choice Act” (obi’s baby) the “Employee Intimidation Act”, as it’s far more accurate. The ‘assault weapons’ bans can be called the “Can’t Vote for if you have functioning male genitalia” act or “Liberals A-scared of Loud Noises” act LOL. We could do that for weeks, actually, just with the shit being proposed and passed right now by your buddies.

                        • shin0bi272 says:

@rhorho I dont remember what Bush called it either but I know every president does it. Look at immigration. The laws are on the books and they arent enforced by any president. I do have to give obama credit though he is working on securing the border a lot more than bush did. But hes also working on it more than clinton, bush 41 and reagan did too. And unfortunately all the troops are going to be trying to keep the people from getting out not in so its a little backwards. Point is every president ignores laws and even the constitution when it doesnt suit their needs. Thats why I left the republican party.

Who are you and what have you done with Shinobi? Never mind, I don’t care. Keep being reasonable and we won’t say anything about the Shinobi sized lump in the trunk of your car.

It’s not men with functional genitals who need an assault rifle to get hard…

Anniee as usual you’ve taken what I’ve said and completely misinterpreted it for the purpose of spewing a nonsensical reply. You should try reading comprehension. I didn’t say that the Patriot Act as it stands now is tyrannical, I was simply saying that because of it’s current name people who don’t know what the bill entails simply assume it to be a positive thing that any patriot should support. I simply used the name Tyranny Act as an over the top example to help illustrate my point. Obviously I should have used Crayola instead.

Marketing was strong in the titling of that bill/law, which made it easier to glaze over in the offing. The average person with an hour or less time in the day for news would support “The Patriot Act” for its title alone.

Still, I would suspect that the worst of what remains will be slowly chipped away in the next few years. It may be one of those acts that, while still on the books for a while, may not be utilized.

In an ironic twist, the proponents of such strong central power may be much less stalwart in their support, now that the “other” party is at the helm.

Actually, the market rose in response to the Fed’s actions, not to the plan. The lack of a plan has already been baked into the market, so to that it reacted little, if at all.

More aggressive postures by Russia, China, even North Korea, if left unchecked (and they have been so far), suggest future threats to American citizens and American interests.

Obama continues to use signing statements and still appears to want to relocate the Census Bureau, all against the intent, if not the precise language, of the Constitution.

The administration has committed several major diplomatic gaffes over the past month, most of which could be easily interpreted as American arrogance, the letter to Chirac rather than Sarkozy being only the latest example.

Why did the stock market rebound so dramatically after hearing the details of his plan? It is called a sucker bounce. Note that the market is down 50 points as I write this, and usually drops after an Obama speech. There’s one scheduled for tonight, and the market may rise after it, but don’t look for the market to be above 7500 on Tax Day.

How is he dangerous to US citizens and the Constitution? His Attorney General doesn’t believe the 2nd Amendment applies to citizens (although he does support a right to abort a child that is nowhere mentioned in the constitution. H Recovery.org listed national service by students as mandatory, until a firestorm of criticism caused them to modify the text. Ever hear of indentured servitude? Slavery?

Considering the number of indictments to come out of the Bush regime – and more to come if and when Rove and Gonzalez are thoroughly investigated – maybe we shouldn’t be too quick to judge Obama’s staffing decisions. Likewise it’s too soon to judge anything by what the stock market is doing; the volatility of the Dow in uncertain times is ample evidence it’s governed by irrational, emotional swings rather than any real early indicators of economic success or failure.

The 2nd Amendment debate has been flogged to hell and back, so I’m just going to say four words and let you look them up: A WELL REGULATED MILITIA.

The “slavery” canard is the rankest sort of nonsense. The “mandatory” service you decry was proposed as a condition of financial aid. Working – if you call 50 hours per year working – for money. Where I grew up we called that “having a job,” or sometimes a “work-study aid program.” Half the students at my college were on work-study.

And your “humble” W may have made pious noises, but he tried to impose his narrow, parochial vision on this highly diverse culture and trample over the rights and interests of at least a plurality of its citizens. You can talk humble all you want, but if your actions are the height of arrogance, your talk means nothing.

criteria for an effective president the first few months in office: 1. spend less money than the guy before you. 2. rescind any authority taken by the guy before you that is not constitutional. 3. preserve the constitution from government intrusion and/or abuse.

I think they call the rebound a bear market rally. Which as I understand it is where the people think that it cant get any worse so they start buying. Then it gets worse and they lose all their money again. It happened in the 30′s too after the new deal passed. we had a year of rebound then it went right back down to almost 0 again. Since all of the money in the stimulus package that didn’t go to government programs is supposed to go for infrastructure that will cause some orders for machines and cause the hiring of some workers which will also garner the need for some more loans from banks. But once the project is finished and the federal money is gone those orders and loans will dry up again. Also from what I remember hearing the big rebound started when citigroup announced that they had been operating in the black for 2 months.

How dangerous would you call spending 640 billion on federally mandating universal healthcare (which is unconstitutional btw)? How about the fact that most of his economic stimulus package went to creating more government jobs? Fester and Suicide Blonde I think it was were talking earlier in this thread about how bureaucracy is always a problem and they are right. Which is why when a president come out of the gate in a 4 year term and within 30 days increases the size of government to “stimulate the economy” one has to wonder what the next 1500 days or so will bring. Im not sure yet if he will be more dangerous over time because he might just be front loading his term with all he wants to do but so far its not looking good is all Im saying.

@shin0bi272 — if you are going to cherrypick events from the 30′s to make comparisons with, try using all the correlated data – the market/economy/rebound took a dive when the idjits decided that the worst was over and cut back the federal funding – that caused the public investors to lose faith and bail. as soon as the feds started funding the projects again, the economy started healing again. the lesson learned from that is not to do a half-@ssed job and expect top results….. crack a history book once in a while and while you’re at it, read all the words, not just the ones that seem to support your opinion.

According to Rasmussen, the president’s approval ratings are not as high as they once were (which is normal), and a 14% jump isn’t huge. It’s better than it was, but the market is reacting faster now to small little bits of good news, as we haven’t had ANY good news recently.

I think the elation should die down to a dull roar a little.

I think you were in danger of agreeing with Anniee for a moment…

Froo do you need a spanking?

            • froofrou says:

Yes, but that’s beside the point :-) I’m not agreeing with anyone, I’m posting unbiased articles, hehe. I can’t help it that I’m a right-winger, and my loyalties lie there! But, if necessary, I will post ‘good for the other side’ articles too just so you know I”m looking at everything and not just Rush Limbaugh :-)

  8. Paul says:

Shouldn’t it read, “Libraries, where future socialist tools hang out”?

    • ubr says:

or maybe it should read, “pk, where douchebags of all political stupidities stop by and try to act tough”

      • Uncle Fester says:

I’ve never really followed this ‘act tough’ thing you have. The only way one can ‘act tough’ is if there is a chance of fist making repeated contact with the base of someone’s skull…
This is just ‘more [whatever] than thou’ posturing. If he’d got you name and was threatening to hunt you down and kill you with his bare hands, then I can see ‘tough’… this posturing of shadows…

        • ubr says:

by acting tough i meant willing to heckle and call people names through the safety of the internet… it’s more of a contradiction in terms where through the magic of the internet everyone has the ability to be their local school bully.

being tough definitely fits your definition…

        • rhorho says:

I think you two are saying the same thing:
Ubr’s “acting tough” = your more [whatever] than thou posturing.

Back in the day, they used to call such a thing “telephone muscle.”

          • Uncle Fester says:

I’ve had people act tough on the internet… that moron who threatened to track me down and introduce me to his ghastly, American cutlery, replica katana for instance. Like some crippled news boy wouldn’t take it off him on the way here…

            • rhorho says:

Yeah, anytime a guy starts bringing phallic symbols into an
argument, you just know he’s running on fumes.

As a socialist and a librarian,–oh, wait. Anyway, Obama has a long way to go to be a socialist.

    • Melissa Redmond says:

See, now you’re just being hard on the libraries. They aren’t all bad. I agree with the spirit of the statement, however.

    • rob says:

      What’s wrong with socialism?

      • Anniee451 says:

Ask 60 million dead in the USSR, 50 million dead in socialist China, on and on. Ask Yuri N. Maltsev, economist on Gorbachev’s team (link.) and discuss the details of his life with him and the lives of millions of people.

In fact, that’s got to be about the dumbest question ever asked. If you are so enamored of it, why not stay in one of the countries that already have it? Which I hope you’re doing already. Some of us will continue to fight against having it FORCED on us here in greater and greater degrees and in violation of the constitution, human rights, and decency in general.

        • Uncle Fester says:

That’s Communist, you idiot… and pretty poor Communist a that.
Socialist would be the Scandics… but then you can’t use Lenin, et al…

        • The Steve says:

          What?

When did China become socialist? I thought they were communist.

What happened to our public school system? Government was a required course my senior year of high school…

          • Kuromisa says:

Still is. Most kids my age use it as naptime. *sigh* I bring saved LOLs to my teacher.

            • Back in the day when I took it, it was called “Civics” and my section was taught by a football coach. My main recollection is of learning the process of legislation being enacted by means of a diagram on the chalkboard using X’s and arrows.

              • Jane St.Clair says:

Mine was taught in Southern Indiana by a guy who didn’t bother to hide his Republican views. I had a horrible case of Senioritis due to the fact that I had moved from my previous High School right before my Senior year and pretty much used it as naptime as well. That doesn’t mean I don’t understand the difference between socialism and communism and that a oppressive dictator is and oppressive dictator no matter what form of government they claim to have. Ainnee is being willfully ignorant to suit her purposes, as always. Apparently socialism is more offensive to her than the racist comments she has been known to make.

          • Uncle Fester says:

Anniee is is simply an idiot…

            • rhorho says:

Yeah, she’s too far gone into the forest of absolute extremism
and dire “sky is falling” memes to hope for a return to cognizance.

            • The Steve says:

I wonder if it hurts to be that stupid, or if the pain eases over time.

              • Uncle Fester says:

I think the peripheral nervous system partially atrophies, so, no, there’s no pain…

              • Anniee451 says:

I’ll answer that with a question. How much did it hurt to be so ignorant of basic economics that you had to ask “Socialist? Isn’t China communist?” If it had been sincere, it would have been bad enough, but *trolling* with a stupid question like that, from the POV of an economist, is quite literally painful to see. Hm…I guess in short form, your stupidity (it would be just ignorance if it hadn’t been just an attack) is painful. Not being stupid, I couldn’t tell you if it’s painful to BE stupid or not. Probably, when you do things like stick your tongue on the curling iron or give yourself a bleach and ammonia enema.

                • Uncle Fester says:

You’re as much an economist as I’m a Roman Catholic Priest…
And every post you make proves you’re a dumb as dogshit.

                • I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you’re not actually claiming that China’s not under communist rule…so, what exactly are you saying?

                  • Anniee451 says:

I really should have gone ahead and named Nazi socialism in the examples as well. Heads would be exploding left and right.

                    • Uncle Fester says:

Not really, Nazi ‘Socialism’ was old school Republican Protectionist policy.

                      • Anniee451 says:

Kinder, Kirche, Kueche are “conservative” socially and so are a variety of the values; this is economics, which you don’t believe in in the first place. The point is lost on you, if not moot.

                    • The Wang is made aghast by your ignorance and feels dirty responding to your summons.

                      • The Wang better use protection for this one.

                        • More like the Wang will keep at a respectable distance and not make eye contact…

                        • *the Wang shrivels back at that idea and flees like a dog who found the hot mustard*

                          YIPE YIPE YIPE!!!

I’ve not seen Frou giving herself airs and graces…

                        • @froo: It wouldn’t matter if she was an economist like she claims. Any statement she starts with “from the perspective of an economist” is purely anecdotal and therefore irrelevant to the argument.

                        • froofrou says:

I believe that Anniee is a typical Blowhard, with a few others thrown in for the hell of it.
                          -
At this point, she could whip out a triple degree to the best schools in the nation, complete with economic props from all of her professors, business associates, and people who are clamoring IRL to get her opinion on the economy, and it wouldn’t matter. She’s managed to piss away any hope she has of ever getting a point across in here. And that’s really sad, because she seems to be really intelligent. She just has no people skills.

                        • Damn, should have put the @Annie. I was referring to her nub comment…

                        • Uncle Fester says:

And that’s really sad, because she seems to be really intelligent.

Actually, no, she’s not given that impression. Sorry.
She’s been handed her opinion back, and she’s countered with nothing but noise.
she seems not to have a handle on much, certainly no emipircal experience worth speaking of. She has the interpersonal skills of a rabid ferret on a very hot day, and to me, the intelligence of a house brick…

                        • froofrou says:

The intelligence came from the fatty thread where she actually seemed to make a little bit of sense. I’m sure that’s only because she has personal knowledge of the topic and wasn’t blowing smoke to impress people, but she came off as calm, knowledgeable, and even kind in some places. As far as the economy, politics, or life in general, though, she’s a walrus screaming for her bukkit.

The one you took back the minute Fister flashed his nub? Or the ones you buried in walrus shit? Pound your phony “compliments” up your ass.

                        • froofrou says:

I still haven’t taken back the things I said about you being knowledgeable, kind, and calm in another thread you commented on. But when people start talking about the economy, politics, or anything else, you tend to get your ire rankled up and start spewing idiocy like the kid from the Exorcist. If you would just calml down, you could be fine and not thought of as a shrill dit who can’t make sense to save her life.

                        • Uncle Fester says:

See, she’s now reverted to type…
Annie is ‘intelligent’ in what universe? He ‘best’ insult is sexual, which says more about her than the people she aims it at… why she has an obsession with my penis, or her imagined lack of it is simply creepy…
She invents imaginary friends to support her non points and then gets pissy when her invention is shown up as empty. She’s the worst type of right wing social ‘theorist’… it’s mostly cut and paste with neither grasp of what she saying, nior the type of long term effects it would have…
Basically, she’s a liar, a poseur and a sad empty individual, who would be pitiable if she weren’t so despicable…
I’d suggest ‘sending to Coventry’ but it’s like herding cats here…

                        • froofrou says:

I realize it’s pissing in the wind, but I can’t help but think that if she would calm down a little, she might actually add something to the conversation. I’m extremely tired of having the right of center crowd represented by people who can’t form arguments, can’t seem to realize when they’re getting pwned, can’t understand what a counterpoint is, and can’t answer a statement with another statement as opposed to shouting ‘I’M RIGHT AND YOU’RE WRONG SO THERE!!!!’. Is it so wrong to want to redeem the unredeemable so that I can get a little support here? ;-)

                        • Anniee451 says:

                          “’sending to Coventry’”

                          DO it already, NubWang.

Hehe…admittedly since I’ve pretty much never cut and pasted *anything* that one falls tragically flat, but still. Coventry is perfectly acceptable; I’m not interested in conversing with left-wing fascist bigots and RINOs/neoCons anyway.

                        • Jane St.Clair says:

I’m not interested in conversing with left-wing fascist bigots and RINOs/neoCons anyway

Like I said masochist. Or a knuckle dragger. Not sure which at this point.

                        • froofrou says:

Cutting and pasting can be done verbally, not just on your computer. Also, you’re conversing with left wingers and other right wingers all the time, you’re just not aware of it because you choose to single people out for your rancor. It seems like those who either try to help you, who disagree with something youve said (which is our right), or who ask you to back up your statements are ripe for your disdain and disapproval. There is nothing wrong with what is being asked of you, and it’s what we’d ask of anyone. If you did more than skim posts and cherry pick what you want to see, you might realize that.

                        • Jane St.Clair says:

I get your plight froo, really I do. I wish we had more sane conservatives here too, but you may have to give her up as a lost cause. Her debating style is the equivalent of yelling “FIRE!” in a crowded room and then trying to get out before the stampede. She spews insults, demonizes large groups of people because of their political leanings, and when called on it responds with, “well I didn’t want to talk to you people anyway”. Despite all that she keeps coming back for more and more. I swear, she must be TONN’s long lost twin sister.

                        • Uncle Fester says:

I still find it amusing that she hurls sexual insults at the most studied asecual poster on PK… If she wasn’t so despicable, it would be something pity…

they might salute a red flag, but they’re a capitalist oligarchy / plutocracy…

                    • Although I’m aware that they’ve opened up the economy considerably to capitalism, the CIA still has them listed as a “Communist state” [link] *shrugs* Not an economist. Don’t even play one on tv…

                        • rhorho says:

No, wait: Diss never claimed that she didn’t play one in bed. Whether she plays economist or communist is a matter of speculation, though…

If I had to guess, I would say both.

                        • Well, arguably it’s all about supply and demand….he supplies what I demand and vice versa. :-)

                      • Anniee451 says:

I think that might be the first time I’ve seen the word “capitalism” used appropriately. China is indeed moving towards more economic liberty (it can’t work longterm without a constitution underpinning basic rights) while we move in the opposite direction. We haven’t “crossed” yet, though.

                        • Anniee451 says:

Not that any of that has ANYTHING to do with what I posted, which was that X huge number of people died under various socialist systems worldwide, which was in response to a REALLY dumb comment asking “What’s wrong with socialism?”

So…kinda makes all the following conversation really pointless and stupid, no?

                        • [link]
Socialism didn’t kill “X huge number of people”. Corrupt people in power don’t need political theory to kill people. They find ways to do it on their own. That’s like saying theocracy killed the people in the World Trade center.

                        • Anniee451 says:

Great, another idiot. We aren’t talking about just death camps and gulags (though those will always come about in totalitarian economic systems, whether Nazi or Lenin or Mao) but starvation and all the actual economic effects of these devastating systems that are also natural results.

                          This. isn’t. rocket. science.

                        • Jane St.Clair says:

Apparently it is, unless you want to claim you hold a degree in that as well. Socialism is a political theory. It is inanimate. It doesn’t kill people.

Sooo many obamatrons making these ridiculous images. Sure he’s a good guy, but a shitty president.

    • hissy says:

He’s been President less than three months. What did George do in his first three months that was so wonderful? That’s probably when Cheney gave al Qaida the go-ahead to fly planes into buildings here.

      • NO_BAMA says:

wow….welcome to the IQ of the typical Obama “voter”

There needs to be a new amendment, people on welfare CAN’T vote, and if people like “hissy” actually DO have a job, which is highly doubtful, they need to pass some sort of basic intelligence test before they can, safe to say that The One (who can’t pronounce Orion) wouldn’t have gotten even 30%. How ironic, he’s never had a job either.

        • Uncle Fester says:

Captian Autist, the REAL Chosen one, has spoken. There is nothing left to say…

        • Eric-in-STL says:

NO BAMA? What’s wrong with Bama? Roll tide!!!!

        • Melissa Redmond says:

          *cheers*

        • Testify says:

          Interesting, and informative.

        • bad fairie says:

@no_bama @ 336 — read the us constitution including all the amendments, and maybe one of our history books while you’re at it — those requirements exsisted and have been struck down —
here, i’ll even give you some easy to comprehend links so you can get started:
The Fifteenth Amendment (Amendment XV) to the United States Constitution prohibits each government in the United States from denying a citizen the right to vote based on that citizen’s “race, color or previous condition of servitude” (i.e., slavery). It was ratified on February 3, 1870.
          {http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifteenth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution}
          Amendment XXIV (the Twenty-fourth Amendment) prohibits both Congress and the states from conditioning the right to vote in federal elections on payment of a poll tax or other types of tax. The amendment was proposed by Congress to the states on August 27, 1962, and was ratified by the states on January 23, 1964. {http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twenty-fourth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution }
and since you seem to be such a tool, here’s a few more:
          The Nineteenth Amendment (Amendment XIX) to the United States Constitution prohibits each of the states and the federal government from denying any citizen the right to vote because of that citizen’s sex. {http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteenth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution }
and for a broad post civil war article on disfranchisement:
{ttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disfranchisement_after_the_Civil_War#Educational_and_character_requirements } covered things like literacy requirements.

if this becomes a double post – i apologize to most who read it – pc troubles and pk panties seem to be in a twist tonight

        • rob says:

          dude, you got pwnd

        • The Steve says:

Wait, so you’re saying that you would deny American citizens their civil right to vote for the leader of the nation?

Vote Republican! We want to abolish your civil rights! Voting should only be for the rich, educated, elite. Strike down the voice of the peasants, they must be oppressed for the good of the nation!
          -
No, that wasn’t a bash at ALL republicans, I know you don’t all think that way!

      • Anniee451 says:

What could GWB do? For 9 months every appointment he tried to make was blocked by Democratic obstructionists. As Carville said on the morning OF 9/11 to a group of reporters, “We certainly don’t want Bush to succeed!” Minutes later the plane hit and he screamed “Don’t publish that! This changes everything!”

No one had yet imagined that any people would be dumb enough to think Bush actually ordered the attacks – LMAO

  10. jimmy bones says:

Bush voters really ought to do the honorable thing and sit out the next several election cycles.

    • Anniee451 says:

Yeah, just let one party vote; it’s a lot more democratic.

      • jimmy bones says:

I’m not advocating exclusion of any particular party — just people with an IQ below room temperature.

        • froofrou says:

Actually, I take serious offense at your previous post, and posit that you are, in fact, advocating the exclusion of a particular party.

        • Anniee451 says:

Oh, if only! (I don’t think it would have quite the effect you might think it would, but that’s ok.)

    • The Steve says:

You’re an idiot. I hate Bush, but everyone deserves the right to vote. This country is by the PEOPLE, for the PEOPLE. Not just for SOME people who think exactly like you.

      • Uncle Fester says:

Didn’t Washington warn about two party systems?

        • The Steve says:

It isn’t a perfect system, I would really like to see 3 or 4 different viable parties.

The problem is, for example, if someone is Pro-Life they will vote for the party that is pro-life, regardless of the rest of the issues. If a vote somehow came down to Pro-Life Socialism or Pro-Choice Democracy, I have a feeling that many on the right wing would feel a lot differently about socialism.
          -
Obviously the above scenario is a gross exaggeration but it gets the idea across. Some issues are just so dividing that there really is no ‘middle ground’.

          • Uncle Fester says:

no, you’ve hit it squarely. People really are too dumb to deal with more than one topic at once. Ainf if came down to ‘prochoice capitalism’ vs ‘prolife socialism’ then most ‘right wing’ prolifers would by singing the praises of abortion from the roof tops…

  11. Anniee451 says:

Still looking for a “cool” person in that picture. Must be a typo.

  12. SuperJer says:

Whatever happened to captioning unique photos? There is nothing interesting about this picture, and the caption is uninteresting. Waste of time.

  13. Wholesome says:

First off, I love Barrack Obama. Second, this looks like prison picture. Sorry, but it does.

  14. Exile says:

Are the cool kids behind the scrawny marxist tyrant?

    • Uncle Fester says:

      There’s a Marxist there?

      • Jane St.Clair says:

        Is it Harpo?

      • Chorkie says:

He advocates nationalizing an ever-widening swath of the country’s large corporations, he believes the Constitution is “deeply flawed” because of its exclusive focus on “negative rights”, he has no problem with raising taxes still further on the people who already supply most of the country’s tax revenue because “they’ll still be well-to-do”, he disdains professional investors (when he’s not in spin mode) and embraces “community organizer” astroturfing… what would YOU call it?

        • Uncle Fester says:

American Politics. It’s certainly not Marxist. Lot of laywers, those pinko-crypto-Marxists that we all know them to be, think that the enshrinement of negative rights is shaky foundation for a country, and some believe that the Constitution, if properly challenged, would be found to be nothing more than a contract in which all the signatories are dead…
If Barry really wanted to fully nationalise industry, then there wouldn’t be the provision (infact push) for the corporation to buy itself back as reparation (TBH, if I was Barry Bigears, I’d be pushing to sell off the parts of the businesses that caused this mess to the ones that didn’t – AIG would be carved and sold like a turkey)

        • Uncle Fester says:

and I disdain professional investors… Why should I respect a poker player?

          • Jane St.Clair says:

Because… you gotta know when to hold ‘em AND when to fold ‘em?

            • purple switch says:

Yep. I have a lot more time for someone who knows they’re gambling, than someone in denial. And I suck at poker, so I know it ain’t easy.
(not to say that all investors are, just averages)

            • Uncle Fester says:

I always respected a man with a derringer, but doubt these lads could hit a barn door…

          • Chorkie says:

            *sigh*

That’s the thing about not being a regular commenter on a given board/blog/whatever – you can’t spot the resident trolls until it’s too late.

I’d explain the difference between a professional investor and a poker player, but A) you probably damn well know it already, and B) I’ve discovered, since Obama was elected, that playing “economics professor” to ignorant and/or misinformed baboons isn’t any fun unless you’re being PAID like an economics professor.

            • Anniee451 says:

“A) you probably damn well know it already”

I wouldn’t bet on that if I had four aces.

“B) I’ve discovered, since Obama was elected, that playing “economics professor” to ignorant and/or misinformed baboons isn’t any fun unless you’re being PAID like an economics professor.”

              Hehe, sad, but true.

            • Uncle Fester says:

I know the difference… the Poker play is subejcted to more rules and you know what’s expected. The Professional Investor is no less a player… there are fewer rules, more people get damaged and in the end, only the house wins…
I think you buy the PR of the market, I don’t.

    • Anniee451 says:

LOL – Exile for the win!

    • Tessie says:

“Are the cool kids behind the scrawny marxist tyrant?”
      `
Are you implying that Obama is… [dramatic pause] a BLACK RUSSIAN??
      MMmmm… Black Russian…

  15. Kelly says:

ahhhhh smart is the new cool :)

  16. Anniee451 says:

Jane, lefties aren’t the only people here; just the majority. To call me a masochist assumes that something here could actually hurt me, which is…dumb.

Froo – hypocritical fail. You can fool your friends, but you aren’t fooling me a whit. I’ve no desire to discuss things with bigots either.

    • froofrou says:

Why do you keep assuming that I’m a bigot, and throwing that name around with such abandon? I’m not trying to fool anyone, and I’ve done nothing but be honest in stating my opinions here. I’m sorry that they differ so much with yours, but I guess we can’t all be perfect

      • froofrou says:

And I think perhaps you’re unaware of the definition of the word bigot. Here’s the corresponding definition from Wikipedia: “Bigot is often used as a pejorative term to describe a person who is obstinately devoted to prejudices, especially when these views are either challenged, or proven to be false or not universally applicable or acceptable.”
        -
Now, when my views are challenged, I either research them and make sure I’ve got good footing to make my arguments, rethink them to make sure I’m right, or retool if my way isn’t, in fact, the best way. You, on the other hand, gnash your teeth and scream if you’re challenged, which would, according to this definition, make you the bigot.

        • Anniee451 says:

BIGOT: “lesbian zombie daughter” Happy to help!

          • Uncle Fester says:

            Like the girl exists… yeah, right… It’s all lies… every last thing you’ve said has been a lie… you’re empty, and pointless…

          • froofrou says:

The ‘lesbian zombie daughter’ comment didn’t originate with me, and the only time it was used was after a personal attack against me. Next.

      • Anniee451 says:

Aww. Poor froo. She just states her honest opinion!

“I believe that Anniee is a typical Blowhard, with a few others thrown in for the hell of it.
        -
At this point, she could whip out a triple degree to the best schools in the nation, complete with economic props from all of her professors, business associates, and people who are clamoring IRL to get her opinion on the economy, and it wouldn’t matter. She’s managed to piss away any hope she has of ever getting a point across in here. And that’s really sad, because she seems to be really intelligent. She just has no people skills.

The intelligence came from the fatty thread where she actually seemed to make a little bit of sense. I’m sure that’s only because she has personal knowledge of the topic and wasn’t blowing smoke to impress people, but she came off as calm, knowledgeable, and even kind in some places. As far as the economy, politics, or life in general, though, she’s a walrus screaming for her bukkit.”

But…but…but! Those were just COMPLIMENTS! Those were just a sincere and honest attempt to HELP! I TRY to be good to these ebil people and they skewer me!

Someone find the compliments in there and send them to me. Oh, wait.

        Asshole.

        • froofrou says:

Well, those are my honest opinion. Perhaps you should get one of those. Maybe you could trade in your idiotic anger complex for it. I’m sure you’d get an even trade.

    • Jane St.Clair says:

lefties aren’t the only people here; just the majority

See, unlike you, I don’t group and/or judge people according to their political leanings but as individuals. There’s a word for people who stereotype, what is it… give me a minute… Oh! Bigot. That’s what it is.

To call me a masochist assumes that something here could actually hurt me, which is…dumb.

Ah, we’ll go with knuckle dragger then.

  34. To the gulag with them, then!

  35. Dave says:

Is that your response to everything? Because I saw that already.

  36. I bet you voted for Bush too.

  37. ubr, I think you’ve got an extra ‘r’ in “fiend”…you really need to work on your spelling! ;-)
