Each motor has a bit more than one horsepower when driven at 12 volts from a high current source. Mattel limits the current to the motors in several different ways. A vehicle with four wheel drive (ie. made with the rear axles from two toys) can have somewhat more than 4 horsepower. 4 horsepower is not a lot of power for many applications, however, it is way more power than the stock Mattel wheels can use effectively.

There is a version of the Segway that is designed for use as a robot base. it has electronic interfaces to the controls, and is missing the handle bar and other parts used by human riders. This stripped down Segway is as expensive as a normal Segway.
Roombas are available without the vacuum cleaner, for use as a robot base. I don’t recall if they cost more or less than the regular Roomba.
