Plus, we bloody made Lord of the Rings and it’s a bloody brilliant movie and we all either worked on it or know somebody who did! It was like a national confidence-building exercise, where for a few years we felt like we were getting attention from the rest of the internet. I’m not Allah, and I’m not the last prophet, so I CANNOT change what my religion says. I just try to explain others that the situations we see in the Middle East about abusing women and thinking that women should be second-class citizens is what these families believe in. It’s their contagious culture. It’s what the old men tell them what to do, or what is best.

I’m not as religious since I’m a modern Muslim, but it doesn’t mean I’ll do the same horrible acts if I have a daughter. I’m willing to be fair and caring about my daughter, and I’m willing to fight for my rights, and possibly fight for other women out there later on in my life.

And don’t tell me to shut up. I just don’t argue with someone and tell them to shut up. Have some respect, please.

And may I remind you not everyone follows the idea that the “new covenant” is exactly that? In fact, Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet, while many Jews question his existence/validity as a historical figure. And if you actually look into Islam, and research and READ about it, as you actually seem to come across as am intelligent person who happens to actually do that, unlike an unfortunately large portion of the population, you will find that Mohammad actually said for Muslims to be kind to the Jews and Christians. They are referred to as “People of the Book”. According to Mohammad we will also get ours in the World to Come, not just Muslims. Seems quite a bit more inclusive than Christianity, a religion I was raised in, where only those who come to believe in Jesus and ask for redemption from their sins, will ever see the good in the World to Come (ie, Heaven). Those who do not will get what they deserve in Hell.

What about the Crusades? What about the Spanish Inquisition? Didn’t Jesus teach peace? Whenever I have asked about this the answer was always, “Well, look back to the OLD TESTAMENT”…what? I thought it didn’t matter anymore.

And to give an honest answer to what might very well have only been a rhetorical question: I am here to exercise my right to free speech, as the captioner did, as you have done, and as the other commenters have done. Just as the person who made this had the right to express themselves, I have a right to express how utterly appalled I am at the thought someone actually finds this funny. This, so far, has been the only post that has made me physically ill and completely offended.

I have been in situations where the ignorance people have towards Islam has affected me to the point where I was almost arrested due to severe ignorance on the part of a police officer. Things like this being deemed as “funny” and “acceptable” are part of the reason for that ignorance still existing.

Apparently, it actually depends greatly upon whether or not the other guy was black, too.
