Pay cash for everything. Novel idea?

  6. shin0bi272 says:

I still say leprechauns are the answer

  7. penguin_man says:

Instead of trying to fix it, we should just continue are normal everyday lives and things will work out, but when everyone is like “OMG, I was intentionally living week to week and now that everything has gone up we’re fk’d, we’re all fk’d” things tend to get worse for those.
Maybe if the rest of you were living more like me there wouldn’t be anything to fix because nothing would of been broken.

  8. i hate everything says:

    “i dunno” lol

  9. Were Doomed says:

Hey look, it’s the white guy with brown eyes who says all the world’s problems are caused by white people with blue eyes..what a douche.
All the world’s problems are caused by the 3rd world vermin that live in places like Brazil and Mexico and soon, the former USA.
But Globama agrees with him…what a shock O_O

    • Musicmom870 says:

Wow! Congratulations! You get the quadruple level FAIL score!

      • rhorho says:

Hey, I know that guy. He hangs out by the dumpster behind Taco Bell and
talks to the dandelions growing through the pavement cracks.

(Don’t ask him what time it is, or he’ll start up about the evil Timex corporation…)

    • trolldujour says:

Oh, is that the guy?! I heard about that, you’re right, what a douche, a racist douche.

    • pcflamingo says:

Hey “Were Doomed” – does that mean you’re not doomed anymore? Or did you run out of apostrophes at the same time you ran out of brains?

    • charro says:

“Were doomed” is an improper sentence; not to mention an improper name.

    • slan agat says:

The really funny bit is Lula’s going on about blue-eyed white guys causing the crisis just before sitting down at a meeting with a black president of the US.

That needs pic of Lula and Barack in a poster format. DIPLOMACY: Sometimes you can shoot down an argument just by showing up.

      • trolldujour says:

You’re saying Obama is responsible for the economic crisis then?

        • slan agat says:

Let’s try this again, shall we?

Lula blames blue-eyed white guys, by which he implies Anglo-American upper class finance types. Blame America, i.e.

Then he goes to a conference and sits down with the American president – a black dude. His choice of language trying to shame the American suddenly seems a bit silly.

          • The Steve says:

If you need to borrow a box of crayons let me know. Some people need you to draw them a picture.

          • You mean he wasn’t blaming NAZIS!? O_O

Oh yes, because the rules have to apply fairly.
            *cough*

We hold these wangs to be self evident that all men are created wangtastic. Through pious action and horny visage, the wang makes a bad, horrid even, paraphrasing just to to say wang again.

    • The Steve says:

Since when is Brazil a 3rd world nation? Aren’t they one of the worlds top 10 economies?

      Fact Fail.

  10. Anniee451 says:

Funny – I like it. This blog is officially back on track to being a pleasant and funny diversion :) Well done!

    • froofrou says:

Psssst! This is not a blog! *glances nervously from side to side before disappearing back into the dark*

  11. PortlandMark says:

    (Totally off thread)

The individual in Pittsburgh who killed several cops yesterday did it because he was afraid “Obama was going to take his guns away”.

    [link]

Is it any wonder those of us on the left are so concerned about the nuttiest of the right wing trolls we hear from on a daily basis? There were never any cop killing lefties during Bush’s reign! What’s wrong with you people?!?

    • rhorho says:

Brazil, officially the Federative Republic of Brazil (Portuguese: República Federativa do Brasil), is a country in South America. It is the fifth largest country by geographical area, occupying nearly half of South America, the fifth most populous country, and the fourth most populous democracy in the world.
      -
Brazil was a colony of Portugal from the landing of Pedro Álvares Cabral in 1500 until its independence in 1822. Initially independent as the Brazilian Empire, the country has been a republic since 1889, although the bicameral legislature; now called Congress, dates back to 1824, when the first constitution was ratified. Its current Constitution defines Brazil as a Federal Republic. The Federation is formed by the union of the Federal District, the 26 States, and the 5,564 Municipalities.
      -
Brazil is the world’s tenth largest economy at market exchange rates and the ninth largest in purchasing power. Economic reforms have given the country new international projection. It is a founding member of the United Nations and the Union of South American Nations. A predominantly Roman Catholic, Portuguese-speaking, and multiethnic society, Brazil is also home to a diversity of wildlife, natural environments, and extensive natural resources in a variety of protected habitats.

    • charro says:

Wait, are you kidding First Troll, or are you just a complete utter and total failure as a human being? Moron.

  12. Leffe says:

Hmm, well one good start would be to ban Bonus programs for corporations not making a surplus, and holding CEOs responsible for their actions.
Corporations need to start thinking and acting long term and not just quarterly and a big part of the problem would be sorted.

Go back 30years or so and the CEOs still made good money(even though it’s just a fraction of what they make now), tried their best and actually worked for what was best for the corporation long term and did a far better job then the CEOs do now.

  13. Igor Arruda says:

Just though of pointing out there is no needs for the “” in Lula, for his real name really is ‘Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva’

  14. Ron says:

It’s actually the best answer: LEAVE THE ECONOMY ALONE. The situation has only gotten worse since The Annointed One (TM) and his administration have started bungling it up.

  15. WE'RE DOOMED. says:

The Dow average has dropped 31 percent since Obama’s election.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 20 percent since Inauguration Day, the fastest drop under a new president in at least 90 years, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The gauge has lost 53 percent from its October 2007 record of 14,164.53, slipping 4.1 percent to 6,594.44 yesterday.

Get a f@&%ing CLUE you mindless idiots, this guy is TRYING to ruin this country and bring it down to the level of places like Brazil, when are you gonna GET that? HE’S A COMMUNIST!

    • AC says:

Since you fixed your name I read your post… Glad I did: HE’S A COMMUNIST …LOL!

    • Jane St.Clair says:

Awwwww, someone needs a hug! C’mere Comrade, socialism isn’t so bad, you’ll see the light. *squeezy hugz*

    • bad fairie says:

oh h*lls bells, you better stock up on non parishable foods and ammunition & go hide in a bunker somewhere. and while you’re at it,
best get a bunch of paranoia inducing cold war movies to watch. and don’t forget your crank radio so that you can continue to listen to limbaugh for ‘correct thinking’ after the world ends and the lights go out.

    • rhorho says:

“and bring it down to the level of places like Brazil.”

*points and laughs at the silly monkey*

      • The Steve says:

Lawl, that’s what I was thinking. Most countries would love to be in an economic position similar to Brazil.

Maybe he’s referring to Brazil’s position in relation to the equator?

        • rhorho says:

LOL! I honestly don’t know where these people come from, but it’s only half-way funny that they make us all aware of the level of ignorance out there. I’m beginning to fear being in traffic…

    • slan agat says:

Old, stale information does not make you sound intelligent.

Neither does ignoring the fact that the crash of ’29 was in the first year of Hoover’s administration.

History fail x Paranoia fail = Fail²

    • Paul says:

We could take the time to count the mistakes, but let’s just point out that on April 4th (“yesterday”, to a post made on the 5th), the Dow Jones Industrial average was at 8,017.59, not 6,594.44.

Being called a “mindless idiot” by a person who has just cut-and-pasted a rant is just not all that bothersome.

    • eddiepscetti says:

The only thing doomed is your ability to collate facts..

    • Eric-in-STL says:

I see. And exactly what would be his motivation for deliberately ruining this nation? What could he possibly gain from doing that? Serious question. I like seeing paranoid trolls attempt to think, so I’d like an answer.

      • Anniee451 says:

        See Cloward-Piven.

        • rhorho says:

Obama is not making moves toward eliminating help for the poorest
of us, so Cloward-Piven wouldn’t apply.

          • slan agat says:

I find it very interesting that the only sources talking about Cloward-Piven are those with an overt political agenda notably in line with Anniee’s.

          • Anniee451 says:

It was asked what there was to *gain* and that clearly explains what there is to gain. Though I see you didn’t understand what you read at any rate. Try Prairie Fire, it might be more your speed.

To slan below – what is that, Turkish? Try an actual school of economics with actual principles instead of the voices in your head next time. Jeez.

            • rhorho says:

              It doesn’t apply, Q.E.D.

Oh, and good luck wishing my reading comprehension away.
You’ll know it has worked if I start agreeing with you. ;-)

              • Anniee451 says:

There is much to be gained by bringing down the free enterprise system if one is in power is a massive personal gain. In Cloward-Piven it takes the form of flooding the bureaucracy with a deluge of impossible demands so great that it brings the whole thing crashing down. Quite impressive, actually – Alinsky-ite though he is, I didn’t quite think he had that in him. I underestimated the guy and his intents. Or the skill of his puppeteers, perhaps.

                • rhorho says:

                  You’re delusional.

                  • Anniee451 says:

In short, the feeling is mutual. Though I’m not burying my head in the sand and hoping for the best, as you are.

                    • rhorho says:

You have a habit of giving people motives. I promise that you cannot read my mind. You wouldn’t understand it if you could. Pretending that you know something you clearly don’t may work in YOUR head, but it doesn’t work out here, where the rest of us are.

I have defeated your argument: “Obama is not making moves toward eliminating help for the poorest of us…”

                      We’re done.

                      • Anniee451 says:

                        STILL haven’t bothered to learn what Cloward-Piven IS before spewing. Not surprising. But, fool me once…{link}

“”From 1965 to 1974, the number of single-parent households on welfare soared from 4.3 million to 10.8 million, despite mostly flush economic times. By the early 1970s, one person was on the welfare rolls in New York City for every two working in the city’s private economy.”As a direct result of its massive welfare spending, New York City was forced to declare bankruptcy in 1975. The entire state of New York nearly went down with it. The Cloward-Piven strategy had proved its effectiveness.

Most Americans to this day have never heard of Cloward and Piven. But New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani attempted to expose them in the late 1990s. As his drive for welfare reform gained momentum, Giuliani accused the militant scholars by name, citing their 1966 manifesto as evidence that they had engaged in deliberate economic sabotage. “This wasn’t an accident,” Giuliani charged in a 1997 speech. “It wasn’t an atmospheric thing, it wasn’t supernatural. This is the result of policies and programs designed to have the maximum number of people get on welfare.”

                        Try harder.

                      • Anniee451 says:

                        Hmm. Comment got eaten. Well, you suck at comprehension either way. READ more. However, fool me once: {link}

Wow, I had never heard of this whole Cloward-Piven thing. Why were they doing this? Were they trying to crash the government?

                      • Anniee451 says:

Yes, demolishing an argument that was never made in the first place…I can see how that’s quite a coup for you, though. Since you so seldom engage with more factual matters – kudos for the effort, even if it makes no sense.

                      • rhorho says:

I have already defeated your argument, but you cannot seem to comprehend that fact I shot down a premise of your assertion, and you failed to counter. I take it you were never in debate in school, because this concept is covered in 101.

                    • The Steve says:

No, instead you’re running around in a panic crying “Fire Sale!”

I think you’ve been taking Live Free or Die Hard a little too seriously, it’s an excellent movie but it is classified as Fiction.

            • Jane St.Clair says:

Once again, someone can’t disagree with you without you maligning their intelligence. Does this debate tactic work on the playground too, is that where you learned it?

            • slan agat says:

How truly pathetic you are. You have no logical argument and insufficient grasp of history to refute my observations, so you fall back on empty feces-flinging. It really is no wonder the neo-conservative movement is in such deep disrepute with such examples as yours.

It’s clear that you cannot be engaged in rational discussion, no matter how many times you flounce off and return trying to sound reasonable.

You are the weakest link. Goodbye.

  16. Paul says:

Obviously the way to fix the economy is to cut taxes and government regulation, and eliminate government waste.

Whew. Can you imagine having to keep a straight face while saying that in public?

    • Anniee451 says:

Yeah, it would be insane to actually follow the constitution and the free market which made us the most prosperous nation in the world – what a hoot.

      • slan agat says:

The “free market” depends on one of two control mechanisms to function properly without the disastrous cycles of boom and bust that threaten to turn us into a third world economy. Those two mechanisms are competition and regulation. Where competition is inadequate to keep market players honest, there must be regulation.

Over the past 30 years it has been our policy to promote growth, to feed the furnace of mergers and acquisitions – to create mega-firms that are too big to fail and too big for new players in the market to compete with. To create, stated briefly, an oligarchy. We have also had a revolving door between Wall Street and Washington ensuring that the financial oligarchy was underregulated, and that what little regulation remained on the books was not enforced.

With no governors on the market at all, you see what happens. Boom and bust. Huge gains made on paper until the untenable risks and frauds piled upon frauds bring the whole house of cards down – whereupon most of us suddenly and painfully realize our gains were only paper, and the people who made exorbitant fees writing and shuffling the paper scurry away with their fortunes like the thieves in the night they always were.

        • rhorho says:

Annie answered you above, but I wasn’t sure you would see it.

“To slan below – what is that, Turkish? Try an actual school of economics with actual principles instead of the voices in your head next time. Jeez.

          • slan agat says:

I figured it would be something like that. She has absolutely no logical argument and no knowledge of history, so she flings feces.

            • rhorho says:

It takes a major disconnect from reality to argue free market in the midst of an economic collapse due to rampant deregulation. We are all *living* the fail of the free market theory, after all.

Hopefully she will just keep it at “deluded and bitter,” and not turn to violence.

              • Anniee451 says:

It’s a major disconnect to look at tens of thousands *more* pages of regulation over the last decades than there had been, and claim “Deregulation!”

Look, I picked this link because it has the smallest words and thus the greatest chance of you comprehending it. But for best results, **start** studying economics and **stop** staying stupid things about subjects of which you don’t have the vaguest understanding, ok?

I’m not just saying that, I’m not being sarcastic; I say that genuinely because I think you are smarter than that. In this case, just ignorant, whether willfully so or not. If you’d prefer the kudos of a peer group who also do not have a clue what they’re talking about to being able to converse intelligently on the subject, then by all means continue as you are. If youwould rather gain understanding and not sound stupid to people who know more than your buddies (no, not just me, duh) then please consider taking my advice.

            • Anniee451 says:

And the point of engaging in a discussion of Austrian/monetarist economics with you…who’s comment came out of some frankenschool I can’t even name (it wasn’t Keynesian, wasn’t Chicagoan – what in the hell was it? There was no grasp of any basic principles of…anything going on; all I could conclude was it was another language or the voices in someone’s head.) I mean, you don’t start talking esperanto to a chimpanzee, either, you know.

        • The Steve says:

          Greed > Free Market.

          It’s as simple as that.

      • Paul says:

“follow the constitution and the free market”.

LOL. Hon, you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. Parroting right-wing talk radio lines is just plain childish.

        • Anniee451 says:

I’ll continue with the Revolution, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and history, thanks. No need to have my thoughts or knowledge fed to me by third parties. But if it makes you feel better to dismiss what you don’t understand by making ridiculous statements, have at it. This is the internet, where any moron can say any stupid thing they want, after all.

          • Leffe says:

“This is the internet, where any moron can say any stupid thing they want, after all.”

Yes, you keep proving that over and over.

            • Anniee451 says:

And he goes in for the EASY and completely predictable line! Wow, what a genius!

            • Anniee451 says:

And he goes in for a pass – will he say something witty, or go with the effortless and completely predictable line?!

Ooops, never mind folks; he went with the obvious.

            • Anniee451 says:

So did it take you two whole seconds to come up with the obvious line or did you think of it all at once?

              • froofrou says:

Why do you scatter post like that? Do you not proofread before you post, or do you keep forgetting to add things because you post too quickly trying to make a non-existent point?

                • Anniee451 says:

                  Actually my posts weren’t appearing. Sorry the answer was so dull. {shrug}

                  • froofrou says:

Cool. Mine do that too sometimes. I was just curious.

                    • Okay, I like this peaceful vibe… Now hug… yes, yes… Now sniff her a little…

                      • Anniee451 says:

Well it would have been funnier if I’d been glitching like the Stepford Wife with the knife and the coffee; unfortunately just a dull and common problem.

                        • You totally ruined my lesbo enemy lover vibe and now I have to find two other frenemies to film for my website business… *grumble grumble wander off*

                        • froofrou says:

I guess ‘frenemies’ works here…..she’s hardly a nemesis, and doesn’t qualify as a bane…….so I guess frenemies is right.
                          -
                          But I’m not sniffing her.

                        • Pfft, she ruined the vibe anyway… Not that you’re helping either. *mock glare*

                        • Anniee451 says:

I wasn’t trying to help your icky little Peter Griffin scenario, sorry.

                        • Ya, I got that already. Thanks for stating the obvious joke.

                        • froofrou says:

I really don’t think my arms would go all the way around her, anyway. There’s just too much there, and not in a good way.

                        • Anniee451 says:

And how appropriate to end on a note of froo’s bigotry. The ASSumptions about one’s weight are always amusing, but the bigotry the ASSumptions bring out are even funnier. Admittedly I didn’t expect the homophobia, but hey – once a bigot always a bigot.

Weird how you people can stand your own stench day after day, returning to the same threads and never being overcome by the stink. Even as I’m going through clicking on “unsubscribe” to various threads that are just done, you’re all still hanging around enjoying the smell of the rancid flatulence you’ve wrought. Some of us reach a point where it’s time to move on. Even if that gives you – bigot – the last word. Though I still suspect you go back for a lot more than just one word – like a dog to its vomit, you go back and mock someone who isn’t even there anymore, just to show what an amazing person you are.

It’s pathetic but also pretty hilarious.

                        • And yet here you are…

                        • froofrou says:

The very fact that you take the time to subscribe to these things speaks to your lack of anything else to do. I simply look at the recent comments and go from there.
                          -
And if you don’t like the stench or the site, no one is forcing you to stay.

                        • I think my statement summed it up better. :P

Gee, it only took you one post to say it.

The real question is, how many times will she need to read her own writing before she comprehends it?

      • bad fairie says:

wasn’t free market so much as open space – the westward expansion with all the natural resources to exploit coupled with pre-exsisting mechanical knowledge and then the added benefit of steam locomotion (the railroads & virtual slave labor). after that was the developement of the internal combustion engine (a european developement if memory is right) created the ability for people to relocate themselves or their products quickly.
free market gave us range wars, the near extinction of the american bison, the relocation of native americans to reservations with the what would be called genocide today, chinese slave labor, sweat shops, child labor, the tea pot dome scandal, the labor riots of the 20′s & 30′s, black friday and the collapse of wallstreet triggering the great depression caused by unethical business practices… shall i continue?
all these things have since been regulated against for good reason. and we’re living with the results of deregulation on investing. do you really want to return to a free market business structure?

        • rhorho says:

Thank you for the brilliant summary of *exactly* why regulation is necessary to protect us *all* from rampant greed and exploitation.

Now, if you have a giant nutcracker, we may be able to pour your information into some of the thicker skulls around here…

I was reading bad fairie’s post above, and laughing at all the things which weren’t taught in my school. I think the only things covered in my public school
lessens were the teapot dome scandal, the impact of the steam engine, and black Friday…but not the impact of non-ethical behavior on that incident.

            • Which just depresses the hell out of me because I need to basically burn through a lot of history to get caught up with what really happened. Then I need to make sure my sons understand it too. @_@

              • viking gal says:

May I recommend Larry Gonick’s cartoon guides to history? I’ve caught up on a lot of what I wasn’t taught through his cartoon guide to the history of the US, and his 3 ‘history of the universe’ books! This biology major didn’t have time to do history in college, but I’ve made up for it a lot since then!
