And how appropriate to end on a note of froo’s bigotry. The ASSumptions about one’s weight are always amusing, but the bigotry the ASSumptions bring out are even funnier. Admittedly I didn’t expect the homophobia, but hey – once a bigot always a bigot.

Weird how you people can stand your own stench day after day, returning to the same threads and never being overcome by the stink. Even as I’m going through clicking on “unsubscribe” to various threads that are just done, you’re all still hanging around enjoying the smell of the rancid flatulence you’ve wrought. Some of us reach a point where it’s time to move on. Even if that gives you – bigot – the last word. Though I still suspect you go back for a lot more than just one word – like a dog to its vomit, you go back and mock someone who isn’t even there anymore, just to show what an amazing person you are.

It’s pathetic but also pretty hilarious.

And the point of engaging in a discussion of Austrian/monetarist economics with you…who’s comment came out of some frankenschool I can’t even name (it wasn’t Keynesian, wasn’t Chicagoan – what in the hell was it? There was no grasp of any basic principles of…anything going on; all I could conclude was it was another language or the voices in someone’s head.) I mean, you don’t start talking esperanto to a chimpanzee, either, you know.

It’s a major disconnect to look at tens of thousands *more* pages of regulation over the last decades than there had been, and claim “Deregulation!”

Look, I picked this link because it has the smallest words and thus the greatest chance of you comprehending it. But for best results, **start** studying economics and **stop** staying stupid things about subjects of which you don’t have the vaguest understanding, ok?

I’m not just saying that, I’m not being sarcastic; I say that genuinely because I think you are smarter than that. In this case, just ignorant, whether willfully so or not. If you’d prefer the kudos of a peer group who also do not have a clue what they’re talking about to being able to converse intelligently on the subject, then by all means continue as you are. If youwould rather gain understanding and not sound stupid to people who know more than your buddies (no, not just me, duh) then please consider taking my advice.

May I recommend Larry Gonick’s cartoon guides to history? I’ve caught up on a lot of what I wasn’t taught through his cartoon guide to the history of the US, and his 3 ‘history of the universe’ books! This biology major didn’t have time to do history in college, but I’ve made up for it a lot since then!

Cloward-Piven is a strategy involving overloading a bureaucracy to the breaking point with impossible demands for the purposes of gaining power and bringing down capitalism. (This was brought forward as *one* possible motive someone would have for destroying a country as opposed to helping it – power.) The ever-more-bizarre reply consisted of “But he’s not stopping aid to poor people – I win! Haha!”

Which is kind of like telling the farmer, “Hey, the blackbirds are eating your corn,” and hearing him say, “Dangit! I told that woman to put a line over the dog’s head; now my moonshine’s done all been spilled!”

It’s not stupid so much as crazy.

wasn’t free market so much as open space – the westward expansion with all the natural resources to exploit coupled with pre-exsisting mechanical knowledge and then the added benefit of steam locomotion (the railroads & virtual slave labor). after that was the developement of the internal combustion engine (a european developement if memory is right) created the ability for people to relocate themselves or their products quickly.
free market gave us range wars, the near extinction of the american bison, the relocation of native americans to reservations with the what would be called genocide today, chinese slave labor, sweat shops, child labor, the tea pot dome scandal, the labor riots of the 20′s & 30′s, black friday and the collapse of wallstreet triggering the great depression caused by unethical business practices… shall i continue?
all these things have since been regulated against for good reason. and we’re living with the results of deregulation on investing. do you really want to return to a free market business structure?
