I was gonna say that!!
I saw a video about that in my w. history class.
there were actually alot of people saying that their sole reasons for wanting to get that surgery was to work and see his picture or something like that!
they don’t just love him they literally worship him! I feel bad for them, I’d get to South Korea as quickly as possible, though that’s ALOT easier said than done.

Add to that, what the hell else have they got to hang on to? I’ve heard that North Korean defectors that make it out and resettle elsewhere often keep an empty room in their home, just a chair, table and four walls. It’s for when they get homesick… they actually find the starkness comforting.

It’s not just brainwashing, as much as we might like to simplify it that way. To understand why so many people love Kim Jong Il you have to look into Korean history.

Korea has historically been the Poland of Asia. At one point or another, just about all of their neighbors have invaded them, killed their leaders, raped their women, stripped their resources, and left the place a mess.

Oppression isn’t that new to the North Koreans. But in Kim Jong Il they finally have a leader who’s aggressive enough to keep foreigners from messing with them. So whatever he does is considered better because at least it’s indigenous.

He’s an oppressor, yeah, but he’s theirs.

Actually, they do, sadly.

When a doctor and a crew went into N Korea to correct vision for thousands of people, they praised images of this jackass. Remember, they are indoctrinated from birth to love and obey this monster. Not all of them buy into it, and many escape. But it’s hard to distinguish who truly loves and admires him and who pretends to out of fear.
