What annoyed me the most was that no one seemed to know what they were protesting. Every time the interviewed someone they said something different and you were lucky if it was coherent. Also, nice symbolism and all, but did NO ONE bother to google teabagging before they went ahead with it? My favorite part of the news coverage was Anderson Cooper stating, “It’s hard to talk when you’re teabagging”

Um, yeah. The tea parties were about tax increases – nonexistent ones for the most part. The other causes represented were splinter groups capitalizing on the publicity. And what’s wrong with it is you had corporate conservative megamoney masquerading as a “grassroots” movement based on a total falsehood, and Faux News pretending to be covering it instead of promoting it, which they were blatantly doing.

As for the “$13 rebate,” that’s more casual misrepresentation from the morally and intellectually bankrupt GOP money machine. What you’re seeing is $13 withholding a week. Not a rebate – a reduction in withholding, representing a concomitant reduction in the tax obligation at the end of the year.

Probably longer than you think we would. We have a lot of natural resources at our disposal, lots of coastline, and ports that the rest of the country depends on a bit for THEIR imported goods. Texas is one of the few states I think could probably get away with seceding.

The lack of forward thinking is just astounding because they soak up Federal money for hurricanes, border patroling, etc.

The people who hosted and sponsored and promoted the tea parties last night were Dick Armey and the usual cadre of Republican billionaires, with help from Nick Cavuto and Fox News. The mega-millionaires once again played the populists like a fiddle, convincing people who have had their taxes LOWERED by Obama’s proposals to protest the millionaires’ higher taxes.

A majority of the American people realized the usual suspects were putting yet another fraud over on them last fall – eventually, maybe, the ones who are still being played will wake up.
