It seems that this tank commander misunderstood what a “hull down” position was.
Well in most vehicles, keeping them rubber side down is the key. Maybe the guy got confused due to the lack of rubber?
Since the tank is a Merkava 2, I’ll give you that. Most Western MBTs have rubber pads on the track links as well as rubber tyres on the road wheels and idlers.
Sudden realisation that Merkavas don’t have rubber tyres on the idlers!
This is an Israely Defense Force Merkava Mk2 tank actually. As someone who served in IDF, we got lots of pictures just like these shown to us with a saying “don’t do this, watch where you are driving”.
Yeah, shoot the little palestinian shits throwing rocks at yer ONLY when driving your tank on a level surface!

THere were probably no casualties from this incident. The Merkava is one of the safest tanks in the world, no matter which end is up. Its right up there with the Challenger 2.
