I haven’t played SR 1 but I love SR 2. I also found that AC 1 was hard to get into at first but once I started, I could hardly put it down.

Few things have been as gratifying as going to the second to last chapter with all the skills, blowing off the quest to kill the British and French in one of the other cities. I love making piles of bodies… And throwing retards… And punching beggar women…

You still don’t get it. A cartridge is not named by its powder charge, it’s named by size. All barretts fire the .50 BMG. They don’t make a separate cartridge for use in sniper rifles, and i have no idea where you heard that. There is a variety of cartridges used in .50 bmg rifles, including some with a weaker powder charge, but most snipers use the standard BMG.

Well the M82A1/M107 is an anti-material weapon, and use against human targets is prohibited, so it’s more “Don’t Drive, you’ll just have a less gas when a well placed shot disables the vehicle”

I’m assuming you mean Iraq. In response, we have had a presence in Japan for 55+ years, and we have not “taken over”. People don’t understand something very important about the war in Iraq. We will always have soldiers there. We won’t leave that country probably ever again. Not to say that an occupational force will be there. Probably just a few bases a lot like our base in Okinawa, Japan.

Machine Gun is a very specific term, and even if this was an assault rifle (which it has the appearance at first glance) there is a huge difference between machine gun and assault rifle.

Machine guns are usually belt fed but they don’t need to be. Assault rifles are never belt fed (unless there is some amazing assault rifle I don’t know about).

Anyways, even someone who is not very familiar with weapons should know this is a sniper rifle. The elongated barrel and the scope are dead give-aways.

Then again, to answer your comment specifically, machine guns can have scopes. I don’t see the need for one, as machine guns are usually used for suppressive fire and not sharpshooting.

machine guns DO use optics though, wouldn’t you rather I was more accurate at 600m+ with my machine gun with my MGO or just use a whole 200 round belt to try and take out a target and cause who knows what kind of collateral damage as well?

It’s people like you that make it difficult for the military to get the equipment we need because you don’t see the “need” for us to be more efficient. *sheesh*

An eye for an eye and the whole world is blind…suppose that’d make large caliber sniper rifles obsolete wouldn’t it? XD sorry, I jest. Honestly though there is some sort of cusp where an individual can see another as not deserving every human right (like…you know…living), and will take it away from them. That sounds pretty bad yeah, until you realize that the way it’s put into practice. Soldiers even of an enemy nation do have a degree of respect for one another, if not only for the fact that they have to face the same hurtles. If I were to have to kill a soldier of another nation I wouldn’t do it without a thought, even if I lacked hesitation there would certainly be a lot of thought behind the act. Now the Iraq and Afgan military crumbled and fell a long while ago, that hasn’t really who we’ve been fighting :-/ ya know? Now we’ve got your true “terrorists” here (I’m kind of not fond of that term…but I certainly wouldn’t call them ‘freedom fighters’ either). I’m just saying if you saw an individual with an IED strapped to his chest standing in the middle of a crowded marketplace….it might be a little easier to pull the trigger eh? I think the public just seems to like that scenario a lot more because it’s easier to swallow, so that’s what’s played up you know? It’s just cushioning to the general public, something to make it all not so bad, and we do that with a LOT more than just war.

The public needs that coping mechanism so the soldiers aren’t demonized when they return and even then we aren’t properly taking care of them.

As for the Recoil joke, sometimes you must laugh or you will be forced to cry. We feel it is okay for the same reason we laugh at anything. A joke is a mechanism to take the bite of out an otherwise humilitating or mortifying experience…

Or you could lighten up. I find you being disturbed to be rather disturbing.

Actually, to further elaborate, the M95 is a bolt-action .50 caliber bullpup anti-materiel sniper rifle, which means the magazine would be behind the grip/trigger. Also, if you use .50BMG in a sniper the recoil is a bit more devastating. The Barrett weapons use a .50 cal (12.7x99mm) with a decreased powder load, decreasing recoil while not affecting the range or power too greatly.

I do see that side of the argument, to some extent (I’ll admit that it’s hard for me, having never been involved in any sort of combat). I do not, however, see why the PUBLIC needs to do that. Why it’s okay for the public to talk about soldiers killing people in such a way. Of course terrorists are bad people, but they’re PEOPLE. It really, genuinely disturbs me when people say things like that “recoil” joke — why do we feel that that’s okay? I think the argument is generally that THEY don’t mind killing us, so why should we mind killing them? But I guess I subscribe to the Gandhian “an eye for an eye and the whole world’s blind” philosophy.

(Thanks for helping me clarify my point, by the way! This is exactly what I was trying to get at, but couldn’t figure out how! ).
