That was actually a common belief back in the Middle Ages. The English word "Sinister" and the Italian word "Sinestra" (left-handed) both come from the same Latin root (and the left side was believed to be the unlucky one by Roman augurers [source Collins dictionary]).

Spike sacrificed himself nobly? That is…just…wrong. Whining I could see–he whined rather amusingly about his chip. But self-sacrifice just doesn’t fit with my definition of Spike. Ouch!

Oh, I loved evil Spike & chipped Spike…but once he got past the crazy-in-the-basement part he was kinda whiny, if I recall correctly. Less fun. (Ok, he did end up sacrificing himself nobly in the finale, but where’s the fun in that?)

I saw the first couple of episodes in that season, when he was crazy in the school’s basement and that was somewhat funny, however I never got around to watching the rest. I do know he went on to Angel, but I had already stopped watching Angel by that point.

I enjoyed Spike as evil, and also as evil but with that anti-violence chip in his brain. I can’t imagine him with a soul–rather like white chocolate “cocoa”–what’s the point?
I also enjoyed Drusilla’s way of calling “Spoike!”

Yeah, Dawn was actually a key to open portals to other dimensions, which was being sought by Glory, an evil god from…somewhere; so this group of monks that was guarding the key transformed it into human form (Dawn) and altered everyone in the groups memories so they’d think she’d always been there. Glory’s search for the key takes up a lot of Season 5.

*blinks* Come to think of it, when you write it out, it does sound pretty lame.

To be honest, I only made it 1/2 way through season 5. Mostly, I just couldn’t warm to Dawn, the appearing-out-of-nowhere younger sister. Partly because of: is this a soap opera, that they can create first degree relatives out of nowhere? –actually I now find it amusing that I could buy the vampires, multiple word apocalypse-es, etc, but not the sudden appearance of a younger sister!

I made it all the way through the second to last season, but I was miserable the whole time. I did my student teaching during the last season and had time for nothing else but that. I never went back for it because I feel the show should have ended with Buffy’s dive bomb, and the UPN seasons amount to nothing more than fan fiction.
