  1. James the Conquerer says:

Crappy lols! These commenters aren’t going to take…

    Dammit.

  2. JrWorthy says:

While I normally enjoy post on this page I am going to have to say that mocking the plight of child soldiers is not really ever funny. Not to be PC but this is a topis that should never be used in any form of amusement.

  3. Amekaze says:

Kinda funny, but more sad then anything.

  4. LovePony says:

Wow.. I’ve seen nearly every picture on this site and I’ve never actually been offended until I saw this.

    • Igloo McCoy says:

I thought the same thing. This isn’t funny, this is incredibly disturbing.

      • Charlie Foxtrot says:

Unless, of course, you use it as a vehicle to discuss the aspects of child soldiers. For example, a couple of years agao, while driveing to Florida to see my aging Mom (I know, Jane — too much detail), my wife and I bought a book on tape — “A long Way Gone — Memoirs of a Child Soldier.” We both saw the implications of using it in the classroom, since I teach Geography to HS freshman. Since then I have used in in my classroom as we discuss post-colonialism and conflit/cooporation. Humor & politics have often been linked and used to initiate discussion on uncomfortable topics — look at Archie Bunker…

    • crystal says:

Yeah… I totally agree. There are some topics that just shouldn’t be made fun of.

Kind of like sick/dying children *cough*Chaser’s*cough*

      • TheRealWazzar says:

Hah. Ironically, it worked in the favour of the charity :)

But yes. Some things should be left alone.

  5. Picco says:

I agree, jokes about child abuse aren’t right. Or funny…

  6. Lilith says:

Bwahaha, so politically incorrect – I like it ;)

    • asdf says:

I’m guessing you are ignoring that when their towns were taking over they were most likely forced to kill and cook their friends and parents. Then given drugs and brain washed. A former refugee at my church was forced to boil and eat the leg of a neighbor child. Luckily he made it out. This isn’t to make you feel bad, just to let you know that some things are real. Not everything should be mocked. Look into it really, it isn’t just kids and guns, it’s the death of a generation in some areas.

  7. Kelly says:

i know this isn´t the place for seriousness, but all this did was make me very sad.

    • Charlie Foxtrot says:

It should… The real question is what are we going to do about it?

      • Tyler says:

Why can’t we get people to accept that other people have nerves and emotions, just like they do Charlie? I don’t get it.
Child soldiers and people who hurt others in general. Don’t they ever think about what they’re doing to the basic nature and acceptability of human nature and social structure? -sigh-
Sorry. I’m in a depressing state tonight.

        • Charlie Foxtrot says:

Well, Tyler, this is a topic that brings those feelings out. But, that is the horrer of child soldiers… Children (the younger the better) don’t have the brains — literally since they don’t develop until later — to judge what is going on. Now, take the trauma of killing their families, add weird drug combinations (CoKe and Gunpowder, for instance) and you have CHILDREN who become ideal killing machines.

          • Tyler says:

            Horrer, Charlie? :P
Anyway, it just doesn’t make sense to me. Why involve the offspring into war, from a biological standpoint? If humans had a smaller population, it’d be a threat to the species’ survival and therefore would have to be against our natural human instincts, wouldn’t it?
Doesn’t make sense when people hurt each other for no real reason.

            • eddiepscetti says:

In some cultures, children are expendable.. To you and me it doesn’t make sense, but to those that would have children kill it does. *shrugs*

              • Tyler says:

I know… But do people not understand that others are EXACTLY like them (in the we’re all human sense), not robots, and still feel?
I mean, there is so much apathy in the world how exactly do people do it?

              • eddiepscetti says:

Let me add that children and grenades are a terrible combination.

              • PortlandMark says:

According to anthropologist Marvin Harris, those tend to be the cultures with no access to birth control. For instance, in Europe in the 1700s the practice of infanticide by neglect was so common it wasn’t investigated as a crime. Orphanages with an 80% fatality rate or higher installed blind drop boxes that allowed mothers to anonymously leave their children to their fate.

Stone age cultures that survived into the 20th century regulated birth through lactation; women who breastfeed on a diet poor in animal proteins don’t become fertile for several years between births. True stuff!

              • Isengrim says:

And that’s the thing we really have to remember. Not everyone thinks like a western(ized) PC, multi-culti with warm fuzzies towards children and other fellow humans.

Look up Palestinian Media Watch on YouTube and see what Hamas likes to teach their kids – namely, that bombs are more important than children.

Understanding this vast cultural gap, I don’t see “children” here, but bloodlusty little killbots just waiting for a soft-hearted Westerner to take them in out of misguided pity so that they can wage jihad in the very heart of enemy territory.

Yeah, it sounds harsh, but these “children” are inculcated with the idea that it’s good and right to hate and kill right from birth. Even a former king of Saudi Arabia, Faisal, once said (warned?) the generations of Islamists to come after him would only become more fanatical; he was right.

The west has to start seeing these people for what they are, not what we would like to believe them to be, because otherwise, we will lose.

                • AC says:

What makes you think these children are Islamic?

                  • Tyler says:

… Don’t, AC, he doesn’t understand that this picture was taken most likely in Africa, it’s just a random nut-job troll.

                    • AC says:

Isengrim’s been around before -and while our opinion vary hugely- I wouldn’t call them a troll. But yeah: FAIL! Although there are muslims in Africa, I don’t think you can point the finger at any random violent person with dark skin and go: “MUSLIM!”

        • RJ Lowe says:

You should watch “Blood Diamond” – It’ll really give you a feel of how child soldiers are recruited and brainwashed. Be careful, it’s a VERY powerful film.

          • Charlie Foxtrot says:

RJ, yes it is, and I’ve used selected excerpts forom it since it is the same conflict as A Long Way Gone, but from the other perspective — bottom line the children lose. If you haven’t read the book, you should — Ishmael Beal is the author, he now works for the UN trying to stop the use of children as combatants around the world.

          • PortlandMark says:

I liked the movie, but I hated Leonardo in it. He’s an okay actor at times, but he needs a strong director to tell him, for instance, that his accent SUCKS!

            • I thought just the opposite! I thought he was great, and I thought he nailed the accent! It didn’t hurt that he filled out a little either ;)

              • PortlandMark says:

I hate to argue with a suicide blonde, but I think Leonardo is suffering from Kevin Kostner Syndrome. Besides, check out his accent vs a White South African’s accent:

  8. Craig says:

this is terrible…child soldiers are no joke.

  9. uber says:

    we don’t need no education

  10. Innocent Foreigner says:

Obama’s Acorn Army of the Future?

    • Charlie Foxtrot says:

Good one — bet your six grade teacher is proud of you! Now run along and play with yourself, the adults are talking here.

    • Amekaze says:

Dude they totally look like those kids that actually did the whole Obama civil military force thingy. Did you see that video! Scary! All about black supremacy.

      • Charlie Foxtrot says:

Kinda like the Boy Scouts and their whole civil military force thingy. Did you see them in the parade! Scary! All about Christian supremacy. — You do see what you want to see, don’t you? When you have preconceived notions all the pieces seem to fit, don’t they?

        • Innocent Foreigner says:

Please to take 2 Haldol tablets at a time now, grumpy old man.

        • Amekaze says:

Whoa! Do you need to borrow a tampon…. on second thought, just have it, I don’t want it back.
First off, well done. Deny evidence, make counter accusations.
I’m not big on the boy scouts myself but I don’t think (think, because I can’t honestly be sure.) they have taken any president in particular and pledged they force to them to bring white into a power of supremacy. Maybe, but I must have missed that news clip.
And as much as I dislike the idea of drop your kids off with an older man in booty short to go ‘camping’ and ‘learn nature stuff’ with, I think the boy scouts have often done much volunteer work in their communities. Might even have had a good affect on the world actually, where as the Obama civil force just scares me.

          • Charlie Foxtrot says:

I actually like and respect the BSA, — they do a great job at what they do. Kinda jumping to conclusions with the whole booty shorts thing aren’t you? I thought you conservatives were all about “good, clean fun.” But nice job of missing the point of my post.

            • Amekaze says:

Hey, I never claimed to enjoy ‘good, clean fun.’ And any conservative who is too stuck up to enjoy a joke needs to get over themselves.

          • pcflamingo says:

            @amekaze

“…..and pledged they force to them to bring white into a power of supremacy.” Huh? What does that mean in English?

      • Innocent Foreigner says:

And liberals keep attacking anyone questioning He Who Shall Not Be Middle-Named!

        • Hussein isn’t a bad word, dickhead. (Dickhead could be on the border of being a bad word, but only if you’re a TV mom from the 1950s.)

        • Charlie Foxtrot says:

Questioning? There was a question of the President’s policies in that original “Acorn” statement? hmmm, kinda looked like a character assassination attempt, granted a petty poor and over-used attempt with a mean-spirited twist, but yeah, an attempt nonetheless.

        • Amekaze says:

          Totally! It’s pretty ridiculous.
“Hey I don’t think we should give those people the bonuses Mr. President.”
“RACIST! Quick grab the pitch forks! Now where did I put my torch?”

        • Eric-in-STL says:

Funny how conservatives are the only ones horrified by that middle name. It’s Hussein, which is a common name if I’m not mistaken. It’s not like his name is Barack Josef Stalin Obama or Barack Adolf Hitler Obama or even Barack Saddam Hussein Obama. It’s just Hussein. What’s the big deal? My middle name is Eric. It doesn’t mean I was named after Eric the Red or even Eric Idle. It’s just a name.

          • Eric-in-STL says:

And as for people questioning the president, go ahead, question him. But actually use your brain instead of heating up Sean Hannity’s leftovers.

          • froofrou says:

There was a lot of “warning off” of the use of the middle name during the campaign, because it would have negative connotations and possibly be associated with the Middle Eastern conflict. Now, since he’s on his world-wide “We Suck and We’re Sorry About It” tour, he can use the name again with no repercussions. It’s a tad irritating.

            • bad fairie says:

what gets me is when he’s either referred to as hussein osama, or when people upper case his entire middle name. those got old fast.

            • Eric-in-STL says:

Yeah, that’s true. Even the Democrats were scared of the name. The whole thing was nonsense. It’s just a name. My first name is Jeremiah. That doesn’t make me a bibilical prophet, and Hussein doesn’t make Obama a Middle Eastern dictator.

I think flaunting the middle name is a tad childish, but he has no reason to hide it. And he’s on the we suck & we’re sorry about it tour because it’s true. :-X

              • froofrou says:

You may suck and need to be sorry about it, but I’ve never had any complaints about my sucking ;-)
                -
He needs to stay the f*ck home and fix what we have here, not try to make the world like us. Sorry, rest of the world (and my non-American friends here), screw you guys until we get our own sh!t fixed.

                • Yeah…that whole Iraq thing makes getting our own shit fixed a little tricky. Thanks, G dub!

                  • froofrou says:

I’ll ignore the obvious dig and agree with you :-)

                  • lowly grunt says:

True dat. And making inroads with the people who have eyed us with grave suspicion for the past eight years is not a bad idea. Plus, he’s been over there, what two, three times since his election? It’s not like it’s a home away from home.

                • wallFly says:

“…but I’ve never had any complaints about my sucking.” cite? personal references are good, videos are better. :)

actually i kind of agree with you on all that – i’m happy the world is diggin’ us but we’re falling apart back home. then again, he’s doing well at home, too.. i only know it’s 2 hours before i can have a beer. mm, tasty & delicious beer.

              • My first name is Jeremiah. That doesn’t make me a bibilical prophet

                ….or a bullfrog.

      • pcflamingo says:

“Obama civil military force thingy…” link, please? The one I saw was young black males in scout-ish type uniforms saying revolutionary things like

“Because of Obama, I am inspired to be the next architect”
“Because of Obama, I am inspired to be the next teacher”

Radical! Wish I could find that again. Not scary and not about black supremacy.

  11. emma says:

were not gonna take it… NO! we ain’t gonna take it… were not gonna take it ANYMOOOOORRE…

  12. nottinservice says:

It would have been pretty funny if it wasn’t so sad.

  13. Kitty says:

Just not right. There are some things that should never be made fun of.

  14. roji says:

    Out of line.
This needs to go back to 4chan where it belongs.

  15. Pundit Kitchen FAIL says:

These kids had their lunches made by the PUNDIT KITCHEN…

  16. flight says:

This is a disturbing image, but I am wondering –

When did Kalashnikov start making child-sized rifles? now *that* is just messed up!

  17. Loling says:

Ok, So to start of I would like to point something out to all the commenters out there that are disrespecting the creator of this lol. How the heck is this disturbing? It’s only words! I mean, I’m a child myself, and as much as I may understand why you don’t like this particular lol, you have no right to be offended by it! It’s just a joke and it’s none of your buisness, and before you say it’s none of mine either, I didn’t say it was. I’m just acting like it is as you are acting like this is your buisness. Now, if you didn’y understand that and you are older than me, get a life.

    • growup says:

Yeah, it’s obvious that you’re a child yourself. I understand what you’re saying, but what you’re saying is still stupid (and the irony of you telling adults to get a life is deliciously rich – kudos for at least knowing you’re a child yourself though). Think about this again when you’re older and have learned more about child soldiers.
A few hints to tuck away and think about in a few years: 1. There are things out here in the grown up world that are generally agreed upon to be too horrifying to make jokes of. 2. Also, most of these horrifying things are generally considered to be everybody’s business. Because they’re atrocities that most humans would want to stop. 3. Not seeing the problem with said atrocities and the problem with joking about them gives the rest of the world *every possible right* to be offended and to question the thought processes of the “joker”. That is not the same as disrespect, and knowing the difference will make your adult life infinitely better.
      Now run along.

  18. Doris says:

The whole point of the lol, perhaps, was to highlight the tragedy of using children as bullet catchers rather than generating actual lols from readers.

Has anyone seen 24: Redemption I think it’s called? I noticed that a lot of politically charged movies and tv shows are using this topic: diamonds, child warfare etc as a tool to highlight the plight of some infants. It’s, like Charlie Foxtrot said an ideal motive to start off topics of debate amongst people. Look what it’s done here :)

And as for Di Caprio’s accent, I didn’t think it was all that bad! I used to live in Holland and his accent was quite like the Dutch – seen as he was portraying an Afrikaaner in the film, his accent was pretty spot on if you ask me. Overall, it was an intense film, cried my eyes out.

  19. A.S.R. says:

    Really? wow. This is low.

  20. bb says:

This is really distasteful and offensive.

  21. I just wish someone would SAY SOMETHING about how offensive and distasteful this caption is. Frankly I’m offended by your indifference, PKers.

    *goes off in a huff*

  22. Eric-in-STL says:

Okay, so the picture is creepy, but the really offensive part is that this isn’t all that funny. That’s what offends me.

  23. Innocent Foreigner says:

Still I am confused. Was told by American foreign exchange student to look at website here, but I do not see Obama being pulled by caring people in round fashion. I am positive he said website was ” Obama-Loving Circle jerk”

  24. tiogarsmom says:

Not funny. I always laugh and enjoy the captions, but this is too much. These children have very sad lives, and it is inappropriate to use their images in this manner.

  25. robby says:

    k. wtf? this is exactly what I thought I might hear. While FFI may exist the CFR does not.

  26. Mowma Cat says:

    So true so very,very true

  27. waggs098 says:

ANYBODY WHO THINKS THIS IS FUNNY IS ABSOLUTELY APPALLING. These children are being preyed upon and they have no clue what they are doing. This LOL is DISGUSTING to me and these are the kinds of things that are wrong with America.
YOU MY FRIEND SHOULD BE VERY ASHAMED AND DISCUSTED OF YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!

  28. TheLPsyche says:

They look so cute. I want to hug them but I’m guessing they would shoot me first.

  29. danni says:

when i saw this pic, my first reaction was to laugh at the caption, but when it sunk in my heart just dropped and i got goose-bumps on my arms. never has a picture provoked a reaction like that in me. i think that using this humor is just a way of dealing with the uncomfortableness that bad things happen that you dont know about.

  30. Alternboy says:

Saying that some topics are out of bounds to make fun of is kind of dangerous. Because different people have different views of what’s funny, and the line you shouldn’t cross will inevitably keep changing until you can’t make fun about any topic.

In my opinion you can make fun of any topic. What makes it funny is timing, context and the sense of humour of the audience.

  31. ocelot says:

HEY TEACHER!!!1 LEAVE THEM KIDS ALONE!

  32. Celeste says:

The caption is funny but it’s sad why those children are actualy there. :-/

  33. Ralph says:

Am I the only one that is fairly sure that a: the average 5 year old can’t lift a 10lb assault rifle over their head, and b: does not have hands big enough to nearly-encircle the grips or butt of an AK47 and that therefore, the rifles shown are miniature props and the picture is faked? And besides, those kids are way too fat to be desperate child soldiers.
