For one thing, the US Constitution reserves the right to declare war to Congress. They aren't allowed to pass it off to the President with an "authorization for the use of force", which is what happened in this case.

Then there's also the problem that there's nobody to declare war *against* any more - the governments of both Iraq and Afghanistan were overthrown and replaced; right now, we're just fighting the people who live there, many of whom don't care for the old ideologies any more than we do, but hate the fact that they've been invaded even more.

The design of a cuckoo clock is now conventional. Most are made in the "traditional style" (also known as "carved") or "chalet" to hang on a wall. In the "traditional style" the wooden case is decorated with carved leaves and animals. Most now have an automaton of the bird that appears through a small trap door while the clock is striking. The bird is often made to move while the clock strikes, typically by means of an arm that lifts the back of the carving.

There are two kinds of movements: one-day (30-hour) and eight-day movements. Some have musical movements, and play a tune on a Swiss music box after striking the hours and half-hours. Usually the melody sounds only at full hours in eight-day clocks and both at full hours and half hours in one-day clocks. Musical cuckoo clocks frequently have other automata which move when the music box plays. Today's cuckoo clocks are almost always weight driven, though a very few are spring driven. The weights are made of cast iron in a pine cone shape and the "cuc-koo" sound is created by two tiny gedackt (pipes) in the clock, with bellows attached to their tops. The clock's movement activates the bellows to send a puff of air into each pipe alternately when the clock strikes.

In recent years, quartz battery-powered cuckoo clocks have been available. These do not have cuckoo bellows. As on mechanical cuckoo clocks, the cuckoo bird emerges from its enclosure and moves up and down, on some quartz clocks it also flaps its wings as it calls, but instead of the call being reproduced by bellows, the call is a digital recording of a cuckoo calling in the wild (with a corresponding echo). The cuckoo call is usually accompanied by the sound of a water fall and other bird call in the background. During the cuckoo call the double doors open and the cuckoo emerges as usual, but only at the full hour, and they do not have a gong wire. In musical quartz clocks, the hourly chime is followed by the replay of one of twelve popular melodies (one for each hour). Some musical quartz clocks also reproduce many of the popular automata found on mechanical musical clocks, such as beer drinkers, wood choppers, jumping deer, and angry wives beating lazy husbands. One thing that is unique about the quartz cuckoo clocks is that they include a light sensor, so that when the lights are turned off at night, they automatically silence the hourly chime. The weights are conventionally cast in the shape of pine cones made of plastic, as well as the cuckoo bird and hands. The pendulum bob is often another carved leaf. The weights and pendulum are purely ornamental though, as the clock is driven by battery power. As with mechanical cuckoo clocks, the dial is usually small, and typically marked with Roman numerals.

That report is more believable that a report saying that steel will liquify and concrete turn to powder and a building will collapse demolition style into its own footprint with only a small office fire on 2 floors in a building that wasnt hit by anything more than a small amount of debris. On top of that somehow evidence of thermate not thermite was found. So this office fire magically produced its own thermate.

Some people who worship their gov will believe anything. On a side note the mossad have been known to engage in false flag operations so this caption may be more true than the gov worshiping author may realize.

I'm not an expert in international law, but AIUI it's an offence under international treaty law for one UN member state to invade another without first obtaining a UN mandate authorising the invasion.

This Dubya and Tory Blur (Aka Tony B Liar) signally failed to do.

having said that, I also don't see that expressing misgivings over the legal validity of the invasion of Iraq (and hence not supporting the politicians who ordered the invasion) necessarily means that you do not support the troops on the ground.

If only the Jonas Brothers really WERE over there.....

And, TheSaintofPain, the only thing Illegal about the Gulf Wars is that people like you gave Saddam carte blanche to commit atrocities, for their own personal benefit. Gulf War II should have been in the 90s under Clinton, when he started killing his opponents wholesale, and reinstituted the "Children's Prisons", where kids as young as 4 were imprisoned to keep their parents in line.

There was an article about 5 years ago in either Atlantic or Mother Jones (both far left-leaning, and supposedly staunch supporters of human rights), where an inspector stated that they SAW the abuses in the childrens' prisons in 1999 but deliberately din't report them, because, according to the inspector (paraphrased, from memory) "I knew that if I said anything, there would be war, and war is evil in any form".

So, I guess torturing and molesting THOUSANDS of children is the lesser evil???

Gulf War II was the right war, but for the wrong stated reasons, and WAY later than it should have been, because of European greed & corruption, and people who can't grasp that sometimes intervention IS necessary.

P.S. I personally know 2 U.S. servicemen, one a relative, who DID see WMDs in Iraq, in 2003, in different instances, but in both cases, people showed up WITHOUT identifiers on their gear, took the stuff, and NOTHING was ever said about the discoveries publicly. There's also the WMD-capable, illegal, missiles from Iraq that mysteriously ended up in The Netherlands in a scrapyard DURING the war (I.E. Saddam was getting rid of them to keep them from being found, and they passed the invasion force in transit), and the Russian fighters found buried on some of Saddam's airbases of a design that post-dated the restrictions on what he could legally acquire. It's easier to list what sanctions Saddam actually adhered to, because there were NONE that he did so willingly (the ones he did obey were because there were US fighters flying over the Kurdish areas to KEEP him from violating them).

And, TheSaintofPain, the only thing Illegal about the Gulf Wars is that people like you gave Saddam carte blanche to commit atrocities, for their own personal benefit. Gulf War II should have been in the 90s under Clinton, when he started killing his opponents wholesale, and reinstituted the “Children’s Prisons”, where kids as young as 4 were imprisoned to keep their parents in line.
