I want apologize to the Republican Party

mark sanford

I want apologize to the Republican Party, to my staff, to my constituents, to my kids, to my church, to Jesus, to my country club, to my campaign contributers, to Rush Limbaugh, to Sarah Palin…
What about your wife?
Oh, yeah, and to what’s-er-name.

(Mark Sanford)

  1. AC says:

    *Sigh*
I want to straighten that tie.

  2. Frank says:

I don’t mean to defend Sanford. I hope he does the honorable thing and steps down from the governorship, but it is only fair to point out that he did apologize (for whatever it’s worth) to his wife and family.

  3. irisblue says:

he apologized to his girlfriend first…you think the female voters of south carolina didn’t notice that? his career and marriage are over

  4. Riverhead says:

I never understood why this was such a big deal. So the guy has a messed up married life. What does that have to do with how he can or cannot run his office? A lot of very powerful people in entertainment, business, etc. have messed up personal lives but perform their professional duties just fine.

    • sally says:

um, because lying sacks of shit shouldn’t
      be allowed to hold office?
      (liars are liars…)

    • PortlandMark says:

Actually, the very worst thing he did was to leave the state for seven days. He was completely incommunicado; no one knew how to get in touch with him, and the Lieutenant Governor didn’t have the authority to do anything in case of emergency. That’s pretty much 90% of being Governor, is to be available to make executive decisions in an emergency, and he totally blew it.

Heck, I just manage a restaurant, and if I left for fifteen minutes to run to the bank, I’d catch hell if my bosses found out!

      • I think pretty much even ordinary non-management worker drones generally find they are suddenly out of a job when they disappear for a week and don’t tell anyone where they’re going.

        • Captain Wow says:

I know that’s what we do here at my office. I had a guy leave his concrete mixer discharging and walk off into the woods. O_O They found him like five days later talking to plants and shit. We fired him. Why not a governor that disappears? BTW did they file missing persons on him? I’m not too up to date with the whole situation.

    • Seth says:

It shouldn’t be a big deal. However, Sanford’s party has made a big deal about marriage, and how important and sacred it is. They can’t have it both ways.

What makes this particular case a big deal is that Sanford left the country without telling anyone where he was going or how long he’d be gone. He proved that his messed up personal life keeps him from performing his professional duties.

  5. ewwee says:

Because people believe that if your wife can’t trust you, who can. Public office is a position of trust. Do you really want someone who is untrustworthy and unfaithful in their most personal relationship to be in charge of the governing body of your state or anything else. If they can screw over the one they love and have to look in the face each day, they they will have no problems lying to you as well. Its a matter of honesty and integrity. No wonder people become angry when anyone of either party commits adultery. By the way, I am not a Democrat and it ticks me off that this guy used taxed bucks to visit his mistress.

  6. irisblue says:

yes he messed up his marriage, not our business, 1- it’s his spending the state of south carolinas’ money on the trip to see his girlfriend in argentina 2- hypocrisy in slamming bill clinton, on the record, then taking his weenie on a roadtrip to another woman. 3- he’s the govenor, he should have made a way to be contacted, it’s a 24/365 job until his term is over. using tax payers money, political hypocrisy and not being available for the job make it a problem, NOT his messing up his marriage…..more clear now riverhead?

  7. Exile says:

I’m still waiting for all of the side-splitting captions about John Breck Girl Edwards. Oh wait, he’s a America Hating Democrap, so you traitors to freedom think he’s just peachy.

    • PortlandMark says:

Seriously, dude, we don’t care that you disagree, but try it again without all the vitriol. Just restrict yourself to words found in the OED, and you’ll be fine.

      • viking gal says:

@Exile. If you make a good lol on John can’t-keep-it-zipped Edwards, this Democrat would certainly vote for it! Oh, wait, that would require you doing something other than venting bile. Never mind…

    • fw says:

Traitors to freedom? Really? Gee, and here I’ve been thinking that the right to express a different political opinion from someone else’s is an example of freedom at work.

      I agree with PM. You’re a meanie-head.

    • Flahdagal says:

Hey, Edwards is fair game just like Sandford — his career is shot for the same reasons. But go ahead and play victim to us bullying traitors to freedom.

Reminder, guys, next TTF meeting is this Thursday. Pot luck!

    • IvanTheMildlyAnnoying says:

Democrap. That’s funny. Can we now call you a Repubic-hair?

    • Tyler says:

He also serves as the large colon AND encompasses the sphincter.
(Meaning that ass troll is full of shit too)

  8. morecowbell says:

i hope he doesn’t get to keep his frequent flyer miles

  9. Blarg says:

This is just an example of someone saying “F it all, I’m gonna enjoy life while I still have one to enjoy.” His enjoyment just happens to be on a muuuuuuch larger scale and in the public eye. I know I’m enjoying what could be my last summer vacation as we know it before the Schumer hits the fan. Not saying that it WILL, just that it could, and no one seems to be doing anything to stop the dems’ underhanded attempts to push through legislation that will hasten our downfall. 300 page unintelligible alterations to legislation for the LOSS. But I digress…

    ARGENTINIAN WOMEN FOR THE WIIIIIIN!

  10. It’s bugging me that there’s a “to” left out of the caption. :-(

  11. lowly grunt says:

I like that he’s apologizing to Rush Limbaugh. LOL!

  12. Hotjoe says:

Why the hell is it when that Rod thing come up, no one ever stressed that he was a Democrat but when this Sanford thing came up everyones like “OMG OMG look he’s a Republican!!”

Think that shows Republicans integrity more than anything.

    • badcat says:

This sounds familiar. Copy/paste much? Sure, no one ever stressed that Blago was a Dem (unless you count all the Republicans who did). They tried to make it about Obama by claiming that if one Chicago Democrat was a crook, they all must be.
