  1. Frist!

    Senator Bill Frist.

  2. tytoon says:

Is this a bash tward people who are afraid about NK getting nuclear weapons?

Lissin North korria is like a 13 year old who found his dads gun sure the police will stop him no problem but people still can and will get killed before anyone can step in

  3. sopranomom says:

    YAAAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!!

  4. tytoon says:

ohh sorry brain fart and I recognize that NK is not weak they are basicly like the imperial japanesse during WWII in terms of belifs and China in terms of propaganda…

and wow somone finally had the ballz to bash obama on military spending or what he’s planning to do anyway now only if somone would bash obama in the ballz

  5. kthnxbye says:

Since the Chinese invented fireworks, wouldn’t they have been in the northern part of Korea before the western world even got a hold of them?

    Just curious?

    • KartoonNotWerk says:

Yeah and look how long it’s taken NK to get this far with missiles…they’re not bright, they’re insane.

  6. utsf says:

Dat obama! Erybody here see dat obama say yeah what what

  7. M. says:

Wait- who invented gunpowder? I believe it was the Chinese.

  8. M. says:

Be the way, the Korean Peninsula was a collection of little kingdoms (feifdoms?) during the Middle Ages…when Europeans were chewing on gristle the Korean nobility was developing a very sophisticated culture. It’s too bad outsiders like the Chinese and the West won’t leave them alone. Kim-what’s -his-face is a blip on the radar of histroy. May he go out with a whimper…

  9. morecowbell says:

what’s this have to do with the ‘bama? he’ll be right over there with some sort of apology, i’m sure.

  10. bs says:

    Epic irony !
    Asians invented gunpowder !

  11. MsMsBurning says:

All the other comments aside, that’s a nice picture of our POTUS and FLOTUS!

  12. Warm Mountain says:

Ah, but Obama would never blow anything up! That would not be groovy. Weapons are ikky. Peace, baby.

    • yikes says:

Fire is meant to light up joints, not blow up joints, man. Peace out.

    • Eric-in-STL says:

Why do so many people hate Obama for not being a warmonger?

      • IvanTheMildlyAnnoying says:

It’s all that testosterone and gung-ho “blow up the world before they can blow US up” rhetoric left over from the last administration. That and the rednecks are riled up by Palin’s announcement this week.

        • Eric-in-STL says:

I know. It’s like trying to work things out peacefully is considered yellah-bellied these days. Geez. Kim has missiles! BLOW HIM THE FVCK UP!!! We have missiles too. Why isn’t someone blowing us up?

          • the_original_shortright says:

            because we have bigger missiles?

is this a trick question? is this like on the SATs when you get the “which answer is /more/ right…” type of questions?

            hold me… i’m so confuuuuuuuused!
            :-P

      • Danbala says:

I wonder, too. Then again, I have come to see that as a basic American trait over the years. :/ If you say “I don’t believe in war” to an American the only way to make them more upset is by adding “.. and not in any god either”. ;p

Nah, I’m not really trolling here. I exaggerate, but there is a large grain of truth in what I said, alas.

      • grandma says:

We only fight when all other options have failed.
Our forefathers escaped tyranny and came here, founded this country, and fought for freedom from oppression from England. We fought against hostile takeover by Axis forces in WWII and communism in Korea and Vietnam. Do they not teach this in school anymore? And (to start a sentence with a conjunction) don’t tell me that this was made up – I’ve lived through too much of it.
Obama has a twisted idea that if we lay down our guns everyone else will. I heard him give a speech regarding this and he couldn’t be more wrong.

        • the_original_shortright says:

pssst, tara/beevis… your icon is giving you away. you have to change your EMAIL ADDRESS to make the avatar change. just changing the name doesn’t do squat.

  13. GOP for FAIL says:

    Korea wont do shit.

  14. yikes says:

Are those Obama’s big ears silhouetted in the photo? Is he getting ready to take flight for the gran finale?

  15. berry says:

fail. asians invented fireworks to begin with.

    • Amekaze says:

Chinese and Koreans are two separate people. Chinese invented it.

Thats like saying whites invented the light bulb. Edison (or Tesla) invented it, Americans, not the rest of the white community.

  16. Lalas says:

Um… doesn’t EVERY country celebrate its independence by blowing shit up?

    • Elli says:

I can’t say anything about the “every” – but as a Swiss I can say that we do, and we wouldn’t stand a chance against North Korea (but then I don’t assume they even want to blow us up, then Kim Jong Il’s family would have to stop sending their kids to our private schools…)

      • Well, you DO have those awesome pocket knives. And chocolate.

        • the_original_shortright says:

if it comes down to pocket knives and chocolate saving them… i might have to choose germany. nothing, and i mean NOTHING, rivals a milka chocolate bar or nutella straight from germany (i miss the days of german exchange students sending me chocolate for christmas when i sent them jeans). the pocket knives… now, they might be ok there. maybe.

          • Eric-in-STL says:

If I can have a German car, specifically a VW, I’ll be fine. I loooooooove me a VW. Instead I’m stuck with one of those stupid Korean Hyundais…which oddly almost puts me back on topic!

            • the_original_shortright says:

              i’ve never had a foreign car… :-/

despite the fact that all the cars are made overseas i’ve always “bought american”. i wish i hadn’t traded in my beretta though… i loved that little car. 4 cylinders and it still went 105 when it was 10 years old. shook like a b!tch but it did it! *reminisces*

              • I’ve had a few, but I’ve always had horrible luck with them.

                • the_original_shortright says:

                  so you buy american too?

i have had really good luck with my cars. my explorer is alive and kicking going into year 11… and only has a spot of rust the size of a silver dollar. and i’m QUITE mad about it.

                  • I sure do now….I don’t know why, but in the past I have bought several brands of foreign cars that other people have praised to the skies (Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo) and each of these vehicles has been nothing short of dismally catastrophic. Everybody else gets the Toyota that happily runs for 300,000 miles….I get the one that decides it’s going to destroy its own catalytic converter twice a year. My last 3 vehicles have been Chevy/Ford/Ford, and I’ll most likely continue to buy American cars exclusively unless I end up being fabulously wealthy and can go buy a Lamborghini just for shits and giggles.

I had a Dodge Colt one time that was absolutely the shit. That thing was butt-ugly, but it drove like a dream and would take whatever shit you dished out. I love my current Ford Escape, too, although it’s a 2008 so I really can’t comment on longevity at this point.

                    • the_original_shortright says:

if you buy a lambo, i call dibs on borrowing it for a weekend. and i will NOT return it in pieces. *girl scout promise*

my dad has an ’07 escape… i steal it every chance i get. i really like it. when i bought my ’99 explorer (used) it was when the escapes were first coming out and i really wanted one of those but i just couldn’t afford it. i say that my next car is going to be a small little 2-door, stick shift toy but in reality it’ll probably be something in the escape size/style. practicality will win out… little cars like that are death traps in cleveland winters.

                    • I had a Ford that once broke down 12 times in one week.

I had to walk home every time. Man, that sucked.

I love my Toyota though, it runs like a champ!

                  • Eric-in-STL says:

I’d never buy another Dodge, that’s for sure. For one, they just closed the plant here in town for good, and for another we owned an ’04 Dodge Caravan a little while back, and it was a total piece of junk. Needed a new transmission by 70,000. We put more money into fixing it than it was worth. We ended up deciding to cut our losses and trade it in, which we got far less than what we owed, so we’re still paying off the damn thing as part of our current car loan.

That being said, our other car is a ’94 Pontiac Grand Am that I call Franken-car. It’s had so many parts replaced and it amazingly still runs…kinda. It’s nearing 170,000 miles.

              • lowly grunt says:

                Was it red?

                Oh, wait, that was “barCHetta”.

                Never mind.

            • eddiepscetti says:

I just bought my first VW back in January.. man, I love the car!

        • Elli says:

a few months ago I still used to say “come on, no one will ever attack Switzerland, after all who would blow up their own bank account”. Unfortunately with the crisis and all that banks aren’t too popular right now and since no one is afraid of tiny knives (although every kid has one, dangerous country) and Belgians make awesome chocolate as well…

    • Danbala says:

      We never celebrate our independence.

    • fw says:

Nope. The Norwegians prefer to dress their kids up in traditional clothes and march them up and down the streets, waving flags and singing the national anthem. The adults wear the traditional bunad as well..which has to be a real bummer if it’s a hot 17th May, because they’re just BUNDLED in wool. Fireworks are reserved for New Year’s Eve.

      • viking gal says:

The Norwegians in one town made my father (a Dane at the time) march in their Independence parade, carrying the Danish flag. He got a big kick out of that: representing Danmark in a Norwegian celebration of independence from Danmark. I think it was in Odda?

  17. Notolaf says:

    What, this president?

  18. The Steve says:

As Tony Stark said, the best weapon is the kind you only need to fire once.

We love blowing shit up, and anyone who isn’t wise to that by now can call up Japan for a history lesson. Roll the dice against USA, and we will get fu(k up your world.

  19. wantsome says:

I was just reading all of the comments… and I was wondering something. Do Republicans and neo-crazies not notice the huge donkey displayed on the main page of punditkitchen? They don’t have a “duh” moment when they realize that this site and captions were mainly created by democrats and bleeding-heart liberals? Do they come to this site JUST so they can be angry about something? Not saying there isn’t freedom of speech allowed, but I’m just amazed that so many people of the republican party come here and are just ‘so darned suprised’ to see other people with opposite beliefs- as if this is unexpected… Just wondering…

  20. SeaBee says:

“North Korea shouldn’t mess with a country that celebrates freedom by blowing stuff up.”
Usually the wrong stuff, and occasionally its friends who happen to be in that general area, or the guy their dad failed to get last time, or civilians.

I don’t think we need another bloody war just now, thanks.

  21. Ninja says:

    Just testing smileys…
    theses better not be adorable…

  22. Ruben says:

Yeah, sure, don’t mess with a country full of idiots that get a kick out of watching other idiots MAKE ANUDDER LEFT TUUURN!!!

  23. philip says:

Fireworks (the art of blowing stuff up) didn’t help the Chinese against the Mongols. QED the caption is a fail.

And doesn’t every country use fireworks to celebrate stuff (like new year?)

And isn’t there a difference between things blowing themselves up (fireworks) and things that blow things up (bombs)?

    • Tyler says:

There isn’t if you light them on fire, therefore causing a reaction that makes them blow themselves up. ;)
I’m not being serious about that, I just like to bother people with nitpicking in the early morn.

    • Squiggly says:

Watch some youtube vids sometime… you’ll see there really isn’t much difference between the two.

  24. Ceefax says:

Blowing stuff up with fireworks bought from China….

  25. Anniee451 says:

Link to a humorous (but true) video on exactly why Lil’ Kim will be messing with the US more than ever now and for the coming years.

  26. Defender says:

All I was saying was that North Korea should realize how much pride we have for our country before they plan to nuke it. We are more technologically advanced than them and can counter-attack them faster than they can say “Chosun Hanada OH SH—-”. (I have a South Korean friend don’t worry it’s cool).

    • Anniee451 says:

Ordinarily that would be true but with a leadership that is purposefully disarming our missile defense and is highly unlikely to ever do such a strikeback, the signs are not encouraging.

      • Defender says:

        Yeah, you’re right. I understand

      • paws4thot says:

Ok, I’ll bite. Can you name one occasion, or even one nation, that has actually used nuclear weapons as a defence (the ownership of them doesn’t count, and neither does testing them)? Personally, I can only name one nation that has used them, and on both occasions it was to attack a nation that did not posess nuclear weapons.

    • Defender says:

I don’t like the idea of nuclear war but if it is the only way to stop North Korea (the ONLY country I would consider declaring war against) I would. They should send those snipers from Somalia and take out Kim Jung Il and his correspondents (quick, easy, few lives lost).

  27. chrissss says:

    Um didn’t Asians invent fireworks?
So this would be a fail.

    • eddiepscetti says:

Um, out of 306 comments don’t you think this has been addressed?
So that would be an observation fail.

  28. stands2reason says:

LOL @b big ears. Obviously Obama.
