It appears that you fail to understand the concept of marginal tax rates. You are not working harder to earn less money in an absolute sense. You pay a higher tax *rate* on any amount of money that is above the tax bracket threshold.

Your interpretation is a common mistake that many people make, and is quite often cited by anti-tax advocates as truth. But anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of tax law knows that that is totally false.

Note: I am NOT a tax lawyer, I’m just some dude who does his own taxes. It’s not that hard to understand.

B/C by only taxing the “rich” you create another set of “haves” and “have nots”. Plus then you encourage the “rich” to higher accountants to help hide the money. I also quoted the “rich” b/c peoples definition of rich changes. I personally don’t think we should punish people for succeeding. There is a point in my life where I will get a raise, and end up making less money b/c of jumping a tax bracket. Does that sound right to you? Should I work harder to earn less money?

I don’t really disagree with you about the lack of money/doctors, but would like to point out the anecdotal-ness of your account. My father gets his healthcare from the VA, and he has always been satisfied with it.

There’s absolutely no guarantee that the man you saw would have had a better experience in the private sector. I have fairly widely-accepted insurance, and still had to call 3 different doctors offices to be seen for a case of bronchitis within 3-4 days. The problem of lack of doctors still exists.

Seems like if the government wants to give any money to healthcare, they could work on using it to train healthcare workers and streamline inefficient systems. Not just create more programs that are not affordable/sustainable.

If I’m not mistaken the first figure of $700 billion in stimulus was at the end of Bush’s term as well. Of course that pitiful amount was pocket change for Che Obama. What trillion amount are we up to now? Oh wait, we also have to add on the 2nd stimulus that isn’t needed ‘yet’ but will be by, oh next week or so when the unemployment rate which wasn’t suppose to go higher then 8 or whatever jumps to 13% or something.

I think the IRS is a pretty streamlined example of how government run anything works. They are extremely efficient at taking your money, but if you get a refund or God forbid THEY screwed up, the wheels turn slowly, if at all.

Bush had a stimulus at the beginning of 2008. Remember the $600 per person and $1200 per couple? Granted, it’s not as far-reaching or have as many repercussions (outside of more debt) as the ginormous stimulus bill that gives Obama wet dreams at night and is working about as well as an unbalanced tire, but it was still a stimulus.
