  1. Ceefax says:

To be fair, Iran is one of the most western countries in terms of dress in the area. Although it’s true that the kids who wear jeans and t-shirts tend to be the liberals who voted against Army Dinner Jacket and his Conservative mob.

    • I Like Peanut Butter says:

Yeah, buy their leaders are still freaking morons who say stupid things like “Death to America and Jews.” And we’re letting these fvcktards get nukes?

      • Igloo McCoy says:

It’s pretty incredible that the US was so freaked out over weapons of mass destructions (or BLTs) but people seem pretty casual about letting nutjobs collect nukes. Yeah I know that’s incredibly simplified.

      • coolidge says:

And the reason they say ” Death to America and Jews ” ? Do you know it ?

        • I Like Peanut Butter says:

Yes I do, and I don’t agree with it. Possibly if the terrorist factions associated with the “Jihad” to take back the homeland would stop bombing civilians, I might be more sympathetic to them. But when Israel offers an olive branch, they start lobbing mortars.

      • Isengrim says:

Oh, it’s even worse than just Iran getting nukes. Look at what’s happening in Pakistan – The Taliban have come home to roost, and take over. The Pak army has declared an unwillingness to fight “fellow Muslims” and would prefer to be picking on India. All that “aid” money they’re getting from the US will only go to HELP the Taliban take over, right under Western noses. Already, in Taliban controlled areas, Sikhs, Christians and others have been terrorized, and forced to leave if they can’t pay the jizya (or risk being killed if they don’t) and the army and police do nothing about it.

Right now the front lines are only about 100 km from Islamabad. What do you think will happen once the Taliban get control of nukes, or at least nuclear material?

I predict a two-pronged attack – Iran against Isreal, and Pak against India, once these people have their ducks in a row.

And if you think the “threat” of Western retaliation will stay their hand, think again. Western responses to Islamic agression has been VERY limp-wristed. The US government won’t even identify that there IS an enemy we’re fighting (beyond nameless “insurgents”) and I saw an article about how government officials aren’t to use the word “terrorism” any more – we should say “man-caused disasters” instead.

And at home … well, many European countries have been bending over backwards to accomodate Muslim demands for creeping Sharia. It starts with BS arguments about the “right” of Muslimahs to wear portable tents, and to NOT show their faces in public, to demanding special blocks of time in PUBLIC pools specifically for Muslim women, to Sharia family courts, and the demands never stop …. and no country, as of yet, has had the harbles to say “STOP! ENOUGH! One set of rules for all!”

They see us WEAK. They see us as being AFRAID OF THEM. They know our governments will bow to their demands, coz if not, then Muslims will riot in the streets. Witness Lord Ahmed’s threat a few months ago to mobilize a huge mob of Muslim rioters should Geert Wilders be allowed to speak in the House of Lords. His threat WORKED, and Wilders was declared unwelcome in the UK and sent home to the Netherlands.

Such weak-willedness on our part to stand up to their demands gives them carte-blanche to do whatever the hell they like – and that includes attacking Isreal and India (and anywhere else they choose) with nukes. With impunity.

  2. Rafiq of the many says:

Sorry, you are a girl. No freedom for you!

  3. Chanty says:

Coolidge seems unaware of the fact that this caption is focused on Ahmadinejad and his hardline views (that all Jews must die) as opposed to an entire nation’s views. He seems to instantly assume that the caption speaks for every single Iranian.

  4. PortlandMark says:

    Lol. Religious intolerance is funny.

Oh, wait, I guess it really isn’t.

    This lol is, though.

  5. Addoluciano says:

WOW!!! This is not funny at all. All this is, is ignorant BS from CNN watching morons. I used to visit this site and failblog daily… not any more.

Just because people have different customs than you doesn’t give you the right to belittle them. The women in Iran don’t want to wear shirts and skirts, just as Christians in America don’t have premarital sex… it’s a religious custom/tradition.

    • Squiggly says:

O_O You just generalized every woman in Iran and every Christian in America.

    • european says:

Wich america have you heard of?
      Enter pre-marital sex.
Except oral sex, that’s not sex

you’re right about iranian women, though, they are comfortable with their beliefs.

    • I’m sorry, but you’re wrong. This lol is funny!

    • The Steve says:

      Christians don’t have premarital sex?

      Really?

      In which decade was that?

    • Semperfidd says:

Yup. and the women from Iran don’t want any rights. Nothing like getting beaten for being around another man who is not a relative.

    • EuropeAnne says:

So the insanely high teenage-pregnancy rate in the US is all immaculate conception?

      • european says:

yup, they’re all true spawn of god, that’s why they can harm all of those hwo have toys as good as theirs

        • I Like Peanut Butter says:

Spawn of God or Satan? I mean most Americans are pretty well bratty, and God is more vengeful, lucifer is more bratty.

          • european says:

Satan would get the male teens pregnant.
            that would be bratty

            • I Like Peanut Butter says:

So he’s give the male teens kidney stones? That is harsh.

              • european says:

kidney stones are god’s problem. he made americans, or so they say.

                • I Like Peanut Butter says:

                  who says?

                  • european says:

Americans, and you know what they say about telling mad people they’re wrong…

                    • yikes says:

                      It makes them mad?

                    • I Like Peanut Butter says:

And all europeans are socialistic tools who leach off the government…….. We don’t generalize here Mr or Ms European…. it’s not nice…

                      • european says:

So much for the “We don’t generalize here”.
Actually our government leaches from us.
And americans tend to be religious fanatics, and use god as a motive to hold on to the boat.
America thinks it’s the owner of the world, that’s why they don’t want iran to have nuclear weapons, but can you tell how many civilized countries used nuclear bombs for war purposes?
                        That’s right, just America, twice.
what did america do when they didn’t like what saddam was doing?
It went there kicked iraq out of it’s place like it belonged to america, now you have iraqi people with a devastated country because americans are violent.
America should learn to respect other countries and try soving problems without resorting to violence just because they can.

                        • Semperfidd says:

The US is working on it european. We are currently asking all the mean bad leaders in the world to be nice and stop hurting people….not sure if it will work though. Maybe a worldwide group hug would solve it…hmmmm

                        • european says:

                          Maybe. but why try?

                        • Semperfidd says:

I too was being sarcastic european…talk only goes so far. Talking/diplomacy does solve many problems however many problems do require action.

                        • european says:

And if you’re idea of diplomacy when solving problems is accusing them they are doing wrong stuff, they deny it and you still kick them, then they loose their trust in your sense of justice. mostly so if you are proven wrong.

                        • Semperfidd says:

european..If by saying “And if you’re idea of diplomacy when solving problems is accusing them they are doing wrong stuff, they deny it and you still kick them” you are referring to the WMD’s..I believe that the US was not the only nation in the world that believed that. If those damn Kurds hadn’t have gasses themselves with the not WMD’s maybe it would have turned out differently. I don’t think by giving money/aid to many of the worlds needy the US feels it “owns” the world. As far as I am concerned you can keep Europe…we get the rest

                        • european says:

It’s not a matter of property.
I do have all I need and want in my own country, though.
I think America just likes to show off.
and people stop taking America seriously.

                        • european says:

                          LOL
Now I have no motive to continue procrastinating. :(
*goes away and starts studying algebra*

                      • I Like Peanut Butter says:

European: I wasn’t generalizing (I should have put NOTE Sarcasm). Your tirad actually is quite inaccurate.
We wouldn’t “think” we own the world if the world didn’t keep coming to our fvcking door asking for money, hand outs, protection, etc…. Do you really want to get into us using the A-Bombs on Japan. I could tear your history lesson apart with that. We actually saved millions of lives doing that (and not just American lives, but Japanese lives). Do you realize what an invasion of mainland Japan would have cost the Allies AND Japan in lives? Probably not, b/c you’re one of Pavlov’s dogs *rings bell* “America sucks, America sucks!!!”
Why don’t you ask some Iraqi Kurds how they felt about Sadam?
Oh and only about 25- 30% of the American population would call themselves religious.

                        • european says:

So because the world borrows money from you, you own it.
You only lend it because you want to.
I don’t think america sucks, I think America has the potential to become a respected powerfull nation.
Nowadays there is little respect for america, because people are afraid to be the next iraq.
Some of the Iraqi didn’t like saddam, fine, but it was their problem, they had no weapons of mass destruction, so your excuse to invade them was trash.
And you can’t just go around kicking leaders out of their chairs because some of their people don’t like them. There will always be opposition to every government. You can’t just kick all of them away.
You got your own people killed so you could throw away a government that apparently wasn’t a threat to yours.
And there are much more than 25-30% of the american population who are religious. maybe those are just the christians.
Just because you don’t call yourself religious it doesn’t mean you aren’t.

                        • Semperfidd says:

We already are a powerfull nation. As for respect, what does the US need to do to gain the respect of the rest of the world? Turn itself into a third world nation? Go back to living in sod houses? Get rid of our military? If that is the case you can keep your respect.

                        • european says:

If you see someone get bullyed do you respect the bully?
                          Me neither.

                        • Semperfidd says:

I do if that bully is protecting a person from getting raped and killed. Our definition of bully is different obviously. It would seem that your definition of bully includes those who would do any type of action to proctect another.

                        • european says:

actually a bully is someone who takes forces their own ways through intimidation and/or violence.
Just because he/she protects someone it doesn’t mean their wrongs are erased. they are still bullys and for bullying they don’t deserve respect.
America does just that. and if you check, It was the US government that put saddam in charge of iraq.
when saddam started making things his own way they took him out.
During the 80′s US sold chemicals that could have double purposes to Iraq, they could be used in medicine and they could be used in war. For a while america fed them secretly with info so iraq could fight iran, while telling openly to them not to do so. when they saw that saddam was going indie on them they decided to end it.
they used the same chemicals they had sold as an excuse to go there. the chemicals were not there anymore.

And besides that, who is america to control who has or who hasn’t nuclear power?
they have it, they have used it. yet they’re just scared that others might have it as well. it’s just hypocritical.

                        • Semperfidd says:

Well I blame the Europeans…If you had done a better job of keeping my ancestors off the boats and providing them everything their hearts desired..like freedom, cable TV etc… this “mess” you call the United States would not be such a burden on the World. We should be punished for all the bullying we did to Japan and Germany…the nerve of us for helping to make those two contries economic power houses.

                        • Semperfidd says:

Im getting bored with this disagreement european….your right. I’m wrong.

(it used to work on my exwife when I did that lol…pissed her off something fierce)

                        • european says:

Then I blame dinossaurs for not hanging on to dear life and stay around long enough to prevent mankind existing at all.
You can’t just blame the ones before you.
It wouldn’t be fair (or possible, if that matters)
if europe now said you are too strong and we can’t trust you so we’re invading you and turning you back to colonies.

                        • Semperfidd says:

Im good with blaming the dinosours. SOLD…we have an agreement….Next

      • EuropeAnne says:

        giggles @the Spawn of God

      • I Like Peanut Butter says:

Don’t really see how your point contradicts, builds on or enhances Semperfidds point. I saw it posted before… see that blip way off to the left, it’s the topic go catch it.

  6. He ran, for the president of Iran
we ran together to a tropical island
my man, Mahmoud is known for rilin’
smiling, if he can still do it then I can
they call you weasel, they say your methods are medieval
you can play the Jews I can be your Jim Caviezel
    S&M, nestlin’ when we’re wrestlin’
You can be the port that I park my vessel in
So I try to mute the tv but you can still see me
with your sleepy brown eyes, butter pecan thighs
    And your hairy butt…
    Yeah.

I’m kind of surprised this made it. It’s not bad – not hilarious but not bad. At least it’s got the element of truth, which is essential to being funny.

  9. bob says:

Iran was named by Hjalmar Schact.

  10. Bawk says:

The thing that i find funny,is that some Islamic people want this-n-this to burn in hell, while hell is Christianity’s “invention”,and isn’t mentioned in the quran,at all.

    • AnnieeMcPhee says:

No, Islamic fundamentalist terrorists are satisfied to have the infidels like us burn in the here and now – it doesn’t have to be hell, does it?

      • numerobis says:

When you’re in heaven and the guy next to you has 42 virgins, it’s just as bad as hell.

        • I Like Peanut Butter says:

Except when the 42 virgins are Star Trek loving, live in mom’s basement at 46, WOW playing schmucks, so listening to them is hell, but the Terrorist is in hell as well.

    • Komton says:

Why do you say stuff that you don’t know? “Hell” IS actually mentioned in the Qu’ran, and maybe your too stupid to know the fact that it is mentioned indirectly.

  14. european says:

It was not all of europe that persecuted jews.
It was a work of Nazi-germany.
Very nice of you to generalize.

  15. BeukendaalMason says:

Lived in peace? You have never heard of the Arab riots in the area that became Israel and Palestinian territories in which hundreds of Jews were killed by Arabs (when there were less than 100,000 Jews in the area at the time)? Or the Mufti of Jerusalem supporting Hitler and Muslims starting to join Nazi units? Or the mass expulsion of nearly a million Jews from through out the Middle East after the Arab loss of the 1948 war in Israel? What about the slaughter of Armenians, Kurds, Copts, and others?

The vast majority of Arabs left what is now Israel because of their leaders insistance and fear-mongering. The UN divided the lands giving only a small and mostly infertile portion to the Jews, the Arab leaders decided not to share, attacked, and got defeated. And while the Arabs had moved into the area, Jewish settlements and families had existed there before and during that time.

  16. Czernobog says:

Whoah, where did you study history?

  17. Jules says:

I always thought the blame was neither on the Jews nor the Arabs, but the constantly interfering, still empire-minded West European nations (especially the UK, no offense meant) who had to meddle in everyone’s affairs during the first half of the 20th century, so that the rather common situation of two nations competing for territory couldn’t be solved in a normal way and things just got worse and worse over the years…

  18. Brian says:

LolNews is not a soap box.

  19. I Like Peanut Butter says:

Coolidge: uumm I believe we have video proof of the Iranian president saying “death to jews.”. So your points are kind of off topic. No where does this LOL say “death to Arabs”. Oh and you do come off as somewhat an antisemite, so be careful we don’t really like hate on these boards. Well we do love hating on some Trolls. Conservatrolls or libratrolls.

  20. Dave says:

“Europe gave the Jews a Holocaust. “??? Can they give it back?

  22. Dmag says:

    Why don’t you chill out.

  23. Igor the Vigorous says:

Psst- I think that maybe it would be referring to the Iranian President, the man in THE PICTURE’S denial of the holocaust ever happening. No?

  24. meglet says:

k my *opinion* – war is usually completely unnecessary and ‘reasoning’ behind it is completely base. Genocide is always abhorrent no matter the race or religion of the perpetrator or victim. To come down on one side or the other of most conflicts is generally naïve but part of human nature. If you want to preach tolerance perhaps you should exercise some. Just because the Palestinians have been poorly treated doesn’t make Mahmoud Ahmedinejad and other Iranians right any more than Jews being persecuted gives them an excuse to treat Palestinians badly.
I think using humour to laugh at ourselves and try and bring a lighter element to this daily tragedy is not necessarily a bad thing. I get from the tone of your comment that you’re angry, but I think sometimes it’s important to take a look at the big picture here and say hey, maybe a lot of people have good reasons for being angry but what will eventually make the world a better place is forgiveness and empathy.

  25. Isengrim says:

You’re forgetting that Arabs lived originally only in Arabia. They took over what the Romans called Palestine by bloody force. And most of the rest of Byzantium too, which is what triggered the Crusades – they were a _reaction_ to Arab/Muslim agression and expansionism.

And before you go on about Europe’s colonial era, the fact that murderous, theiving Arab/Muslims had blocked most routes – due to piracy of shipping, as well as land raids – triggered Europeans to try to find a way of avoiding them.

The Jews stole nothing. They had continued to live in what was once Isreal and Judeah even after the Romans caused their dispersal. Arabs stole that land from the Jews and Christians that had lived there peacefully through the fall of the Roman Empire and the rise of Byzantium.

You fail at history, and have swallowed leftist/Muslim propganda and history rewriting.

  26. a german says:

    mind the middleages!
(thanks for blaming it on us alone…. well i think we kinda deserve that)

  27. coolidge says:

Did I say ALL Europeans ? I merely mentioned ‘Europe’ and fittingly as there was where the Holocaust happened. Indeed I know for a fact e.g that in Italy, the majority of Jews survived the war ; Albania protected its own Jews and those who came seeking refuge and that Bulgaria saved virtually all of its own Jews.

But the point is this – was there anything similar in the Arab world which equalled the European Holocaust to justify today’s accusations that Arabs, and Muslims, are anti-Semitic ?

  28. european says:

I took care to blame only the nazi-germany.
    not all germans.

  29. paws4thot says:

Very true – en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clifford%27s_Tower#The_original_castle paragraph 3, which I picked on because I happened to know about it.

OTOH I remember about 33 years ago touring Garnethill Synagogue in Glasgow, and being told by the guide that the congregation were very proud of the fact that their’s was one of the few Victorian synagogues in Europe that had no fire or bullet scars on the fabric.

  30. a german says:

i know that but i saw a documentary about wernher von braun on tv yesterday and i’m still in a little scapegoat-mood

  31. a german says:

and why did I get this swastika-like avatar?!?!?

  32. ay dios mio says:

well I live in Huntsville, AL. so he’s okay in our book.

  33. Czernobog says:

I didn’t see it until you pointed it out.

Anyway, there’s been prosecution of Jews all over eastern Europe, it was definitely not “just Nazi Germany.” And going further back you’d find prosecution of Jews pretty much everywhere at one time or another.

Also, there are still Jews in Iran, Ahmedinejad is against Israel as, not Jews in general (as far as I can tell.) The LOL is still kinda funny though.

  34. european says:

The Columbia Encyclopedia defines “Holocaust” as “name given to the period of persecution and extermination of European Jews by Nazi Germany”.

I was refering to coolidge claiming that europe gave the jews a holocaust.

But jews have indeed been a little too pushed around all over the world.

    The LOL made me LOL.

  35. a german says:

maybe we should start a new collumn calld “LOL classic” with pictures of nero and jesus so we could start bashing christians from a time when they were the “jews” of their time
(i still want this ****ing swastika away from me! i smell a conspiracy…. are there presbyterians around?)

  36. Czernobog says:

Mis-communication then, I apologize. I was replying to your original statement about persecution. There was really nothing to suggest that you were referring to that particular part of coolidge’s ignorant rant.

  37. paws4thot says:

    That’s probably fair.

  38. I Like Peanut Butter says:

Jews = red headed step children of the world. Let’s not forget the Egyptians persecuted the Jews (see Moses). Or even Americas views to the Jews at the time of WW II was not of hugging and acceptance.

  39. I Like Peanut Butter says:

Nah we canblame the UN who created Israel.

  40. european says:

    Nah.. too expensive

  41. mothergoose says:

    I think we’re “Trollaphobic”…

  42. coolidge says:

Peanut Butter, I never denied what he said. But my point is – where’s the context of what he said ? Is he being anti-Semitic or he’s merely responding to the current situation where Palestinians are being maimed, bombed and killed for the simple reason that they refuse to accept the occupation of their homeland.

  43. Igloo McCoy says:

It was Britain who signed the Balfour declaration, making Palestine basically a safehome for the Jews. Britain should be blamed too and should the UN, but come on Middle Easterners. Can’t we all just get along?

  44. Igloo McCoy says:

It smells like homeschool, but tastes like the generalized lessons and inaccurate textbooks of an inner-city American public schools.

  45. coolidge says:

Czernobog, did you EVER study history ?

  46. paws4thot says:

I’d say so. As for poLOLtics, the differences are what makes them fun, as long as you’re prepared to debate intelligently.

  47. eddiepscetti says:

I am.. it’s now a passion and I do my best to breathe life into it, embrace it, and allow the inner child to dominate my trollaphobia.
    -
Ok, that was a bit too much.. I just hate trolls, how’s that?

  48. Czernobog says:

I think Your swastika is pretty.

  49. A german, why don’t you cruise over to gravatar.com and customize your avatar? You big anti-semite! ;)

  50. paws4thot says:

As I said, I picked a well-documented incident that wasn’t anything to do with Germany (which didn’t even exist at the time) on an “I can find references to this one” basis. I think most of Europe, and probably North Africa and the Middle East, have had a genocide incident aimed at a Jewish population at some time or another.

  51. a german says:

i got nothing against coolidge OR a good fashioned ranting, not even against swastikas as long as they are meant to bring luck to pilots or nice bald headed priest (not the ones withe the heavy boots and jackets) but i just can’t believe that i got this semi-swastika after naming myself “a german” i mean that has to be against me or my country.

  52. coolidge says:

Czernobog, I’ll excuse you for your own ignorance. Kindly read to my reply above. Again for your info, I said “Europe” as in WHERE the Holocaust happened therefore my usage of it was justified. I NEVER said Europeans. There’s a BIG difference.

  53. european says:

    LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
If you take a good look to other avatars they all have a swastika look to them.
maybe there’s a nazi bug or something.

  54. paws4thot says:

The swastika (from Sanskrit svástika स्वस्तिक) is an equilateral cross with its arms bent at right angles, in either right-facing (卐) form or its mirrored left-facing (卍) form. Archaeological evidence of swastika-shaped ornaments dates from the Neolithic period. It occurs mainly in the modern day culture of India, sometimes as a geometrical motif and sometimes as a religious symbol. It remains widely used in Eastern religions / Dharmic religion such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.

Thanks to Wikipedia for detail on what I was already pretty sure of.

  55. yikes says:

This is interesting, if you look at pre WWII Native American jewelry, the swastika was used a lot before they ever heard of Hitler. They call the symbol “rolling logs” or something like that and it represents the 4 seasons.

  56. Jane St.Clair says:

There’s only so much you can do with a randomly generated geometric image and still have it fit into a square. If you don’t like it, go to gravatar.com and get a new one. The instructions are pretty easy to follow.

  57. Anniee451 says:

Dude, they’re just geometric designs and they’re based not on the name you pick but on your email. Somehow. Just customize your avatar at gravatar and it’ll be fine.

  58. I Like Peanut Butter says:

I was agreeing with you. Just expanding on your post.

  59. yikes says:

Can they exchange it for another item?

  60. I Like Peanut Butter says:

What’s the exchange rate on that?

  61. european says:

Used items can’t be returned, World policy.
and driving to wherever they would exchange would be to expensive as well.

  62. yikes says:

    Shame, I thought I found a loophole…

  63. Jane St.Clair says:

But it wasn’t their size and the color was all wrong.

  64. european says:

gladly you didn’t, jews would go on a rampage if they knew they could return the holocaust, from their homes.

  65. yikes says:

I was mostly joking, but I didn’t mean return it, like revenge, just make it not have happened… See? Also, I don’t think they, as a people, would want to do such a thing.

  66. european says:

it wouldn’t be a revenge rampage.
an item that they didn’t want could be returned, I would be mad if it took all these years.
And i’m joking as well. i have nothing against jews or any religion.

  67. Jane St.Clair says:

Inaccurate textbooks, sure, but they don’t reek of that much revisionist history. No profit in it.

  68. Jane St.Clair says:

Since Brian was declared lord of LolNews. Incidentally, where is this LolNews he’s babbling about and how’d he find his way to PK?

  69. yikes says:

lol! True, it would be a rampage if they all went at once to exchange! I wouldn’t want to stand in that line.

  70. Danbala says:

Oh bugger, I must’ve missed the Lord Declaration memo. :/

  71. european says:

Tough luck. world policy must be respected…
    Except for tara reid, obviously.

  72. european says:

What would they get in return?
a coupon for some world maladie?

  73. yikes says:

Good question. Free lifetime passes to Disney World?

  74. Danbala says:

… the torture never ends …

  75. european says:

they would have to wait in lines and that would waste time and time is money so it would be a waste of money, maybe some free nachos.

  76. european says:

hmmm. Never ending torture, that would pay itself over time, wich is nice.
who would they choose to torture?

  77. froofrou says:

What about if they have a receipt?

  78. european says:

World policy must be respected, except for those referred one the posted amendments.
    at least it’s tax deductible

  79. yikes says:

Brian is the boss of us all now…

  80. yikes says:

You have major swastika action in your avatar.

  81. a german says:

i have so much in common with krusty the clown and rainier wolfcastle

  82. BazMahtaz says:

    See: Uber-Christians and the U.S.A.

  83. coolidge says:

Hi Dave, have “they” ever tell YOU to live by their religion ? As for blowing themselves up, can you educate yourself as to the situations where these events take place ? I don’t say that these are right but understanding the context helps one to avoid being an ignorant fool.

  84. Deep Thought says:

    Not even close.
But thanks for playing “Open Your Mouth and Prove What an Idiot You Are.”

  85. I Like Peanut Butter says:

What did Uber-Christians in the USA blow up?

  86. eddiepscetti says:

Cool! Does that mean we get to b*tch about him like we do Bush, Obama, et al?

  87. Deep Thought says:

    NO. ROFL!

  88. yikes says:

What if we threw a holocaust, and no one came? Could we return it then?

  89. european says:

if policies alowed, who would take it back?

  90. Igor the Vigorous says:

    But why not, Deep?
Why do we need to assume they’re referring to all Iranians instead of the man who denies the existence of the Holocaust? :P

  91. Deep Thought says:

…I meant you are finally learning to say no. NO FTW!

  92. Deep Thought says:

    Say NO with !!!11elebenties!!! dammit!

  93. Igor the Vigorous says:

Well, I usually only say no if I don’t like it. ;)

  94. yikes says:

    *Takes notes* The wind?

  95. european says:

Then it would throw the holocaust on butterflies for creating tornadoes on the other side of the world and putting the blame on wind.
and there would be very few butterflies left and that would decrease the pollen exchanges thus reducing flora all over the world aggravating the greenhouse effect, which would boil us in the molten water from the glaciers before we had time to drown.
And I can’t let that happen, first I want to see how lost ends.

  96. yikes says:

That’s how it ends!! How did you know? Just kidding, I never watch TV, just movies.

  97. european says:

I have to wait ages to get any show to begin airing in my country.
So I don’t watch tv, I watch everything on my laptop. even the movies take forever to get here, unless they’re really big.

  98. yikes says:

    …wait, who are you again?

  99. Dooder says:

    Iraq and Afghanistan?

  100. coolidge says:

BeukendaalMason, throughout the history of Christian Europe, Jews had been persecuted and expelled with the Holocaust as the worst of them.

You’re quoting what happened in a situation where Jews were taking lands which had belonged to a people who had lived there for over one thousands years. The Mufti supporting Hitler was the result of that situation.

( BTW, you should check out the history of half-Jews serving in Hitler’s army if Arab units bothered you )

Sorry, but in no way can you used these examples to argue that Arabs and Muslims are inherently anti-Semitic.

  101. coolidge says:

Igloo McCoy, when a bunch of people come to kick you out of your home because their book says that your house is standing on a piece of land already promised to them by God, what would you do ?

  102. paws4thot says:

Blatently copied and pasted fro mthe Wikipedia article on Jihad:-
“From the first generation of Islam, jihad ideology inspired the conquest of non-Muslim populations, forcing them to submit to Muslim rule or accept outright conversion (although conversion was not generally demanded of “Peoples of the Book,” this too could be forcibly imposed on non-”Peoples of the Book”). “

  103. I Like Peanut Butter says:

He’s being Anti-Semetic. He doesn’t just say death to Israel, but death to all Jews. And how is it occupation of their homeland, weren’t the Jews there before the Palestinians? Wasn’t it the Persians who stole the land from the Jews?

  104. I Like Peanut Butter says:

FAIL! Umm no. Once again not all Americans are UBER Christians, I believe there were some Jews, athiests, aagnostics, buddists, and **GASP** arabs that serve in our military, and or congress that voted for the wars. So sorry.. whit fail, knowledge fail, post UBER FAIL!!

  105. Danbala says:

While I wouldn’t agree with the very simplified “über-christians blowing sh|t up”, these posts aren’t all “taken out of the blue” (directly translating an idiomatic expression, unsure atm whether it’s actually workable in English). It certainly came across as, after Sept. 11 and during the propaganda preparations for the Iraq war, that this was a matter of fighting for God and the Christian way, amongst other things.

I can’t right now give quotes to explain exactly how and why – but the general feel I got was that there was quite a bit of religion involved in the rhetorics.

Living in a far more secularised society – it sticks out like a sore thumb – and probably is much more noticeable than it would be if you live in the US.

And no, I am not trying to say “you stupid american. you no see nothing” – I am just trying to add some nuance to an unusually polarised discussion*.

*) Or slagging-off party, or whatever it is. :)

  106. Danbala says:

(The footnote was just in case it had erupted while I was busy writing my post. :p )

  107. I Like Peanut Butter says:

Danabala: Why was it religious? You do realize we aren’t a “Christian” nation right, but a nation full mixed religions. We actually have the largest expanse of religion than any other country out there, so I don’t understand this European view we’re a Christian nation. Maybe it has to do us being “conservative” to your eyes, and for some reason conservatism is always linked to Christianity. I wish it wasn’t.
I understand what you’re saying, hence I’m trying not ot be sarcastic, if it comes across that way, not intended.

  108. Danbala says:

I think it’s pretty much down to the first half of the 2000s. The moral majority propaganda was small but very resounding. The creationism movement’s small (and fortunately short-lived) victories coincided with that.

And yes, it is probably mostly conservatism, but when explanations for it are given, those come across as very Christian. Trying to analyse it objectively (I carry no torch either for or against any specific religion as far as I can tell, myself) much of the rhetorics are rather Christian. There’s a lot of awareness about religion in America, as far as I’ve seen, but still, when it boils down to it, Christianity (with a flair of Judaism) ends up being the norm.

I do not read your post as sarcastic at all, no worries. I find this topic interesting, and am trying to analyse my own opinions and memories as objectively as possible (and I realise it is always doomed to fail).

I do realise that I am not superbly coherent now, for which I apologise. I am trying to sort out my comments, but I feel I fail, so meh. ;p

To understand what I am talking about, consider (all of this is perceptions of mine, I do not state them as facts, but as how I see it all coming across as): Today, no one claiming to be an Atheist could become the POTUS. Today, no one proclaiming themselves a muslim, shintoist or hindu would reach POTUS. Of course these are not absolute facts, but try to think about someone running on a platform of not saying “God bless America” after every speech or instead saying “Allah bless America”, “may all the relevant gods keep an eye out for America” or whatever… I know you, population-wise, are not a Christian nation (more and less so to and fro), but somehow, you end up being one anyway.

  109. BeukendaalMason says:

Through out the history of the world Jews have been persecuted and expelled by many different people. By the Egyptians, the Babylonians, the Romans, Muhammed (Medina), Arabs (Khybar and possibly many other times), and yes Christian Europe.

Jews lived in Israel/Palestine for multiple thousands of years. Arabs came in and “occupied” their lands, it seems that those who support the Arabs can only look back to the late 1800s, when Jews began to move back to what had been their ancestral home, and not centuries before it. The Arabs only lost “their” land because they were not willing to let the Jews live in peace. The Arabs first rioted and killed numerous Jews (as early as the late 1800s) and then when the Israeli Jews formed their own country, they declared war and attacked.

I am aware that there were “half-Jews” and Jews who had joined the Nazi military and other positions (many other people did also). You think maybe they did so to prevent themselves from being tossed into the Concentration Camps like the millions of other Jews (and others)? Why did the Arabs begin to look to joining the Nazis? Anti-semitism? An offer of self rule? Who knows. Unlike the few “half-Jews” and Jews who joined Arabs were not under the threat of being thrown into Concentration Camps. By the time many Arabs began to join the Nazi army in large numbers the war was coming to a close and most saw that the Nazis were on the losing side (who wants to join a military and government who is just about to lose a massive war?).

What you can see is that both Hamas and Hizballah use both the “Nazi salute” and “goose-stepping” march. Many of the Muslim leaders use Quranic quotes to justify their anti-semitism. Mein Kampf is rather popular in Arab countries. The Learned Elders of Zion is believed to be a factual book. Numerous shows that portray Jewish blood libels are on many different Arab TV stations. The nearly a million of Jews through out the Middle East (all of those who were living in those countries, with the exception of Iran) who were forcibly expelled from every Arab country shortly after 1948. And several other various cases of stupid anti-semitic behavior.

Did anti-semitism exist before the creation of Israel? Probably, a culture does not grasp and promote such an intense degree of hate in such a short time without some previous underlying hatred.

  110. flameow says:

Yeah, and they still use swastikas all over Asia…on the maps I got in Japan, they represented the location of temples with the swastika symbol.

  111. Alternboy says:

    It’s also a Jungian Archetype.
They used it in babylonia, the americas and even in norse times. It is believed that hitler got the swastika from the belt buckle of thor from a painting in a swedish castle. The connection is most likely that alot of the rece biology used by the thrid reich was developed in sweden.

I actually have two oposing swastikas on my back as a part of a chinese Tho

  112. Danbala says:

“alot of the rece biology used by the thrid reich was developed in sweden.”

It was? Do you have sources for this?
